Westell 327W and WRE54G v3 with latest firmare

So I spent sometime on the phone with CS to get these 2 to link, my laptop picks up the signal, but no internet.   I have both blue lights on.  I used to have a d-link that worked flawlessly for 2+ yrs until a few weeks ago.  Is this router not compatible with the modem?

WRE54G is a Range Expander and not a router...WRE54G will communicate wirelessly to your Westell Modem/Router...WRE54G basically repeats your wireless signal to reach a distant computer/laptop...You can configure your Range Expander(WRE54G) using this link , in the given link there is an option for gateway which is set to 192.168.1.1...It should be changed to the default address of your router...

  • Westell 327w and Wireless Access Point

    I had DSL last year, but have since changed to FIOS, which I love.  So I have the Westell 327W modem/router that isn't being used.  I have decided to use it in another project for the 4 port ethernet and the wireless capability.
    As this other project, we are using another service, which isn't DSL.  However, I figured that I could use the 327w as the wireless access point.  I currently have access to the internet through the provided internet service and from there I go into a Cisco ASA 5505 firewall.  From there I run an ethernet cable to the 327w.
    As long as I plug a computer into one of the 4 ethernet ports on the 327w, I'm able to ping to the Internet using either the IP address or using DNS.  I'm able to surf and everything.
    I have also set up the wireless and using WPA security and I'm able to connect a laptop to the wireless.  I get the IP address via DHCP from the ASA, so I have turned off the DHCP server on the 327.  I have also turned off the firewall.  I then test connectivity and I can ping anything on the network that is assigned by the ASA, but when I try to ping to an Internet address, by the address, I get request timed out.  I also don't get anything back on DNS and so forth.
    What do I need to do on the 327 to allow the wireless to work with the current connection set up.
    Thanks for the help and information.

    I got it to work.  What I had to do was to set up the 327w in VLAN mode so that the wireless side would send the packets out the ethernet port to the ASA or another router.
    In fact, I'm writing this on the wireless setting of the 327w.  So setting the VLAN allow the wireless to send and receive packets.

  • Westel 327w and signal

    I have a Westell 327w modem for the dsl, and am having signal issues. We have 2 computers sitting completely opposite in our house. One is upstairs and one is downstairs on opposite sides of the house from one another. We have a 802.11g wireless card in the one downstairs and it frequently losing signal and never has a signal strength above low. We have an Belkin N router from our son and are wondering if there is anyway to use the supposed signal boost it gives to rectify our signal strength problem. Will buying a modem that can transmit an 802.11n signal to this router solve the signal problem or is there something else we should try? The computers are about 60 feet from each other with no intermediate phone jack in between for us to hook the current westel into.
    Thanks in advance.

    You can try replacing the Westell antenna with a high gain antenna and see if that helps increase your signal.

  • Westell 327W and Linksys WRE54G

    I read the excellent tutorial at http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Networking/SetUp/QuestionsOne/123766.htm which answers all questions except one:
    After I have set the Protocol to Bridge and the Bridge Mode to Routed Bridge, I'm presented with a DHCP Client section with static address preselected. However, the address given is 0.0.0.0, subnet 255.255.255.255 and gateway 0.0.0.0. Is it safe to leave it like that?
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    You should actually leave your 327w out of bridge mode, since your Linksys WRE54G is not a router. It's only purpose is to take a Wireless Signal and repeat it further out, or to run as an access point. If you bridge your 327w, the first device that requests DHCP information from the Westell or uses PPPoE to connect will be the only PC able to access the Internet, typically. If Verizon is using DHCP in your area, the Westell I don't believe is fully bridged. It still works as a router but holds the public IP.

  • Suggest good book titles on Forms 6i and Reports 6i with latest edition...

    Hi
    I did not find any latest edition of a book by any author regarding forms 6i. please suggest a best book which explain me to develop forms and reports in illustrative manner. i searched entire net but cant find a good book on forms6i and reports 6i. So anybody suggest me best titles to my requirement.
    Thank u in advance
    prasanth a.s.

    A GREAT book is called "Oracle9i Developer: Developing Web Applications with Forms Builder" by John Adolph Palinski. (www.course.com) While the title says 9i, it tells you along the whole way where 6i differs and how to do it in 6i. In the preface it says "This book also supports developers using Oracle6i Forms Builder... Throughout the book a distinctive 6i icon identifies explanations and exercises related to 6i."
    The only thing I don't like is there's no answers to the questions. I suppose because it's used in a lot of classrooms. But regardless, I've recently purchased 4 Forms books, and this is by far the best for learning (since I'm a newbie). But at the end of each chapter you take steps to build a real application from scratch. Hope that helps!

    You can take Boost 1.34 but you have to use CVS and you have to modify Boost configuration files to use -library=stlport4 option.
    Or you can take Boost 1.32, read this article http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/sga?entry=boost_mini_howto and apply this patch http://blogs.sun.com/roller/resources/sga/boost_1_32_0.patch.
    As you can see here http://engineering.meta-comm.com/boost-regression/CVS-RC_1_34_0/developer/summary.html Sun C++ is in a good shape.

    Hello,
    Sometimes modems refuse the connection to routers. If they will connect to another device, such as a PC, then you can clone the MAC of that PC to the router to trick the modem into 'thinking' that the PC is connecting. This is usually done on a DHCP connection, although I have seen it work with PPPoE as well.
    You should never see any issue with the PC and router having the same MAC because they are on completely different networks. The router is on the ISP network (WAN) and the PC is on the LAN network of the router. We use this trick all the time when we can't get a modem to play nice with a router. If there was danger of conflict the functionality would not be in every consumer and SMB router available. (That I am aware of) I will not guarantee that it will work but it is certainly worth a try.
    I have seen cases where a certain brand/model of modem will not under any circumstances work with the router. In that case you can either replace the modem or replace the router.

  • Westell 327W and WEP

    I have the latest software version for the router. When I enable WEP and hit apply, the wireless settings confirm WEP is enabled. However, every time I go back and access the router, WEP is disabled. Any ideas?

    I am not sure, but I think I know why.
    After selecting WEP, you must select the level of the key, and you must enter in a Passphrase or key.
    For example - I have the Linksys WRT54G, and the wireless security screen looks like the screen that you see at
    http://ui.linksys.com/files/WRT54G/v1-v4/4.20.7/WL_WEP.htm
    I can assure you, I can not just turn on WEP.
    #1 I have to select the level of WEP Encryption. 64bits/10 hex Or 128bits/26 hex.
    #2 Enter in a Passphrase, click on generate.
    OR enter in a key.
    Before I press save settings.

  • Upgrading both SharePoint 2010 server and DB server with latest available patch

    We have 2 servers in the farm ( SharePoint server and Database server)
    We are planning to patch the database server and SharePoint server as well at the same time.
    For this activity I have found some ways :
    Way 1:
    First I will do the patching in SP server and run the configuration wizard.
    Once it's finished , I will shutdown the SP server.
    Start patching in SQL server
    After done in Sql server , I will restart the SP server.
    Way 2:
    First I will do the patching in SP server and run the configuration wizard.
    Once it's finished , I will disconnect the SP server from SQL server by using the configuration wizard.
    Start patching in SQL server
    After done in Sql server , I will reconnect both the server's.
    Way 3:
    I don't follow any one of the above ways. Simply patch both the server's one by one (Here might be, when we do the DB server patch upgrade database connection failed entries will be track into event viewer because of DB server unavailability )
    Here my questions are :
    If disconnect the server's from each other , can I reestablish the connection again ?? Is there that option ???
    Is it compulsory to disconnect / shutdown the SP server while patching in DB server ???????
    Suppose I don't follow any of the above way , cause any issues ?????
    If any DB connection related entries will track into Event Viewer, is this cause any issues ?????
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Patching order will not matter. You also do not necessarily have to shutdown SharePoint while patching SQL. Yes, SharePoint will throw errors in the Event Log and ULS log.
    I might suggest patching SQL Server first, simply because it is quick and in my experience, "safe". That is, the patching process works and works well. It is unlikely you'll come out with an unserviceable SQL Server instance.

  • Westell 327W - New Menu

    I recently discovered the new menu display for the Westell 327W and I like it, for the most part.  It is much easier to work with and see all the settings.  However, I am concerned about one issue.  On the Wireless Status screen, which does not require a login to view, it shows the value of the WPA Shared Key.  Does anyone else see this as a security risk?

    Yes, I see it as a security risk, but I'm more concerned with the fact that I had to spend over an hour getting my wireless to work again tonight due the changes, and I cannot use WPA security anymore.  The options on the new menus don't match up to the options on my computer. Can anyone guide me on how to match the 2 up so I can use WPA security?  I'm also looking for ways to increase the signal strength on this router so the signal will reach all roooms upstairs in my house.

  • RTMP Netstream NOT working with latest version of flash Player

    Let me preface this by saying: This is definitely a bug either with latest Adobe Flash Player or the streaming Media Server (in this case Real Helix):
    In the latest version of the Flash player (10.1.82.76) Code that worked  previously in version 10.1.53.64 does not work now. This is basic code to connect to an RTMP server (Real Helix) using Netstream class. NOW the video does not even display and there is no error message . THIS ONLY OCCURS in a BROWSER . Also I am using swfobject to display the flash and I tried with latest version and the old 1.4.1 version.
    Adobe please look into this, Is this possibly a problem with Real Helix OR Flash Player itself......I can't imagine nobody has come across this before?!
    private function init():void
                video = new Video();
                NetConnection.defaultObjectEncoding = ObjectEncoding.AMF0;
                nc = new NetConnection();
                nc.client = this;
                nc.addEventListener (NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS,checkConnect);
                nc.connect(rtmppath);
            //---BEGIN: Video Handling methods ----------------------------------------------
            private function onBWDone():void
            private function checkConnect (e:NetStatusEvent):void
                trace(flag_Running);
                if(flag_Running)
                  return;
                var msg:Boolean=false;
                msg = (e.info.code=="NetConnection.Connect.Success");
                flag_Running=true;
                    if (msg)
                        ns = new NetStream(nc);
                        ns.client = {onMetaData:ns_onMetaData, onCuePoint:ns_onCuePoint,onPlayStatus:ns_onPlayStatus,netStatus:onNetStatus};
                        ns.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, asyncErrorHandler);
                        ns.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, ioErrorHandler);
                        ns.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS,onNetstreamStatus); //only handles errors right now
                        //vidDisplay is a Video object in the library (Video - actionscript controlled)
                        vidDisplay.attachNetStream(ns);
                        // set the smoothing value from the constant
                        vidDisplay.smoothing = SMOOTHING;
                        setVolume(DEFAULT_VOLUME);
                        bolLoaded = true;
                        trace("NetConnection.Connect.Success");
                        cur_state = STATE_CONNECTED;
                        callback(MESSAGE_TYPE_VID_INIT_DONE,null);
                    else
                        trace("Load Video Failed: NetStatusEvent " + e.info.code);
                        callback(MESSAGE_TYPE_ERROR,null,"Load Video Failed: NetStatusEvent " + e.info.code);

    This is confirmed as a REAL HELIX Bug. Here is what I recevied from them:
    This has already been fixed (not yet released). For existing servers to work with the
    latest Flash player (10.1.82.76)  you need to add the following to the top level of
    your server config file
    <List Name="RTMP">
       <List Name="Scheme2">
           <List Name="Versions">
               <Var v1="0x80000702"/>
           </List>
       </List>
    </List>
    I put this in the config file and restarted the server, and it worked!

  • How to replace westell 6100 with westell 327w?

    Hi all,
    I am currently using a Westell 6100 and I just inherited a Westell 327W from my brother who switched over to FIOS.
    Can I replace the 6100 with the 327W? And how do I go about doing that?
    Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers!

    If the 327w has newer firmware on it, you can just factory reset it and then connect it up. Once it is online, visit http://192.168.1.1/ and use admin/password respectively as the login information. Then, set a new password for the gateway.
    Once done, visit http://192.168.1.1/verizon/redirect.htm and choose the disable button. Assuming the modem has been able to get a connection at this time, you should be online.

  • Using WRT610N router with Westell 327W modem/router on Centurytel

    I have DSL with Centurytel and have a Westell 327W modem/router installed.  Can I install and use a WRT610N router with this setup to get a faster wireless connection?

    Both the wireless router can work together...You need to cascade both the router.

  • Westell 327W as main wireless base and AE as WDS wired to Mac mini

    I'm trying to get internet access to my non-airport-ready mini, without having my Westell 327W wireless router in the same room, and no cat5 cables stretched across my house.
    Does anyone know if it's possible to use AE to pick up the 327W's signal and feed it wired to the mini? I've read about WDS mode in AE, but I've heard there may be issues with that Westell router. Are there any wireless routers that could definitely work with AE in the manner I've described?
    FYI, I use Verizon DSL

    Are there any wireless routers that could definitely work with AE in the manner I've described?

  • Hello,  I have iMac from Oct, 2010 and have OS 10.6.7 and multiple users.  Mail icon was accidently removed along with program.  Mail 4.4 is on other users but when I reloaded software my user got Mail 4.3. Mail 4.3 did not work with latest OS. Ideas?Matt

    Hello,  I have iMac Itel i3, from Oct, 2010 and have OS 10.6.7 and multiple users.
    About 3-4 days ago the Mail icon in dock had question mark and was accidently removed, along with program on my user.  Oops.
    1. Mail 4.4 is on other users and works fine, but for me it does not work and tells me V4.3 does not work with latest OS X.
    2. I reloaded software from my user with original disks  (Oct, 2010) and got Mail 4.3 again. Mail 4.3 did not work with latest OS.  I am unable to load Mail.  Gives Yellow error message.
    "  You have Mail version 4.3 (1081/1084). It can’t be used on Mac OS X Version 10.6.7 (Build 10J869). For more information, click the Help button."
    3. Tried to update software and look for update for mail 4.3 on Apple site to no success.
    Hate to go to MS-Entorage ( I may need to learn something new and alien) mail program since contracts are in Mail/Address Book.
    Ideas?
    MattDeeds

    Matt,
    I would download and run the 10.6.7 combo update.
