Westell 6110F w/ Linksys WRT330N router setup problem

Yesterday I had to swap out my Fujitsu modem for a Westell 6110F and now my Linksys WRT330N router is not working properly.
The modem works when plugged directly into the computer (using it to type this) so the connection is good and the Linksys worked fine up until the modem change.
The Westell 6110F is the model that is the modem+bridge too, there is no onscreen menu (that's only for the Westell 6100) so no conflict with the router at 192.168.1.1 (I've also tried changing this).
I've tried copying the MAC address from the computer and enabling that (seems to be a setting for people with Westell 6100 models but didn't work for me).
And of course I've ipconfig /release /renew and rebooted both modem and router numerous times
I'm in CA so DCHP (no logon needed)
I'm sure there's a simple thing that needs to be changed but I'm at a total loss right now.

OK ... I see nothing there that should prevent things from working as you indicated.
So ... on the router, for the Internet connection type, do you have the option of DHCP?  I 'm reading the user document and it suspcisously is not listed as an option -- surely that can't be right -- that's the one you need.  Every Linksys product that I know has that as an option.
Local network should be 192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.0 and you should enable the DHCP server (this is probably the default setting).
On the Mac Address Clone page -- select clone the PC's Mac address (00-30-F1-1C-7F-1F) -- this shouldn't be necessary but it will get around any DHCP lease issues you may be having.
On the Advanced Routing page, make sure NAT is enabled.
Connect blue WAN port on the Linksys to the port where you originally had the working PC plugged in on the modem.
Technically ... that should be it.

  • Successful DSL Setup With Westell 6100G and Linksys WRT54G Router

After a week of searching I finally figured out how to get DSL setup with my Linksys router.
All I could get out of the Westell > Linksys router configuration was DSL downloads limited to less than 0.2 Mbps.   No matter what I did on the router settings that was it.    I had a second eHome router that easily configured and achieved the 1.0 Mbps download speeds so that confirmed Verizon and the Westell modem were not the issue.
So what's wrong with the Linksys router configuration?    I had the Linksys WRT54G router Version 5.   Checking the firmware it was the original release of 1.0.0.   (See your routers instructions which can be downloaded from Linksys for how to check your firmware).   I downloaded the latest firmware version for this router model and version number.    Following the Linksys instructions I flashed the latest firmware 1.02.8.   Now I had an updated modem ready to be configured for DSL.
Assuming you already followed Verizons instructions to set the Westell modem to bridge mode setup your router to work with it.
Step 1: Go into the modem typing its address... Default 192.168.1.1   leave the ID blank and the default password is admin.
Step 2: Go to the Basic > Setup screen.
Step 3:  Select PPPoE and the screen menus will change
Step 4:  Enter your Verizon ID  (exclude @Verizon.net)
Step 5:  Enter your Verizon Password.
Step 6:  Go to the bottom of the screen and hit Save.   Wait and the router will indicate it was saved.
That's it.  All you need are the three entries above to get it working.   Turn off the PC, Router and Westell.   Turn on the Westell, then the router and then boot the PC.   It should work at this point.    I now get the full DSL speed for both downloads and uploads.
The bottom line....check you router, especially the older models for updated firmware before you give up on it.

Glad top see you found a configuration for your Westell and Linksys to function.  Thanks for posting resolution.

  • Linksys wireless router G problem with ASUS Eee PC 1000H laptop

This is a new laptop with a Ralink rt2860 chipset. Problem: I have trouble connecting to the router at my office. When I can connect, I often get such a low connection speed that the signal drops out and I lose the connection entirely. I have no trouble connecting to other routers. ASUS tech support says this is not a problem with the laptop. The rep told me that some "older" routers have a problem recognizing the Ralink chipset. Logically, if I can connect but it drops out, does this indicate a need for a signal booster? Does anyone know about any related compatibility issues? Thanks for any help; this is driving me nutty!

I know just enough to be dangerous. How is the change the channel on the router changed? Sounds like a system administrator job...

  • Router setup problems

I just connected an ibook (Panther) and powerbook (Tiger) to a TrendNet router/print server. Both are connected to the router with ethernet cable. The cable internet connection works great, but I can't get the USB printer setup completed:
TrendNet gave me the IP address and Queue Name to use for printer setup. I tried inputting this information into the Print & Fax system preference and the Printer Setup Utility. I can't find my printer's model (Epson EPL 5700i) on the list (not even the "more printers" button). I tried the generic printer option, but that doesn't work.
P.S. both macs print just fine when each is directly connected to the printer via USB cable.
I need some VERY basic instructions!
    ibook G3, powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   + Mac OS 10.4.3

To print via network, you must have either a postscript printer, or a CUPS driver. Here are the known sources for CUPS drivers:
    http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/
    http://www.easysw.com/printpro/

    Good luck.

  • WRT160N downstream of a wired router setup problems

I have a wired router for access to the internet that feeds a pre-wired house.  I would like to connect a WRT160N downstream to act as a switch and WAP.  I don't seem to be able to set the 160N up so that both routers operate.  I have tried all the setting changes I can come up with without success.  Any hints?
    Thanks

    1) Power down your network, and disconnect the WRT160N from all other devices.
    2) Wire a computer to one of the LAN ports on the WRT160N.
    3) Boot up the computer and WRT160N.  If the computer has a wireless card, turn it off.
    4) Login to the WRT160N and make the following changes:
         a)  set the "Local IP address" to 192.168.1.2   (This assumes that your wired router is using 192.168.1.1  and that you are not using 192.168.1.2  elsewhere in your network).
         b)  set the "DHCP server" to "disabled".
         c)  when you click on "Save Settings" you will likely be disconnected from the WRT160N.  Do not worry about this.
         d)  power down the computer and WRT160N
    5) Next, wire any LAN port on your wired router to any LAN port on the WRT160N.  Do not connect anything to the Internet port of the WRT160N.
    6) Power up your network.  It should work.
Note:  Your wired router will control all the usual router settings (DHCP server, port forwarding, etc.).  The WRT160N will only control its own wireless settings.
All remaining LAN ports on both routers will function identically.

  • Linksys E2000 router is incompatible with Linux?

Hi All, I have Cisco/Linksys E2000 router setup for home wireless network. I had been setup while ago and well working since then. Now the challenge: I need to know or to change the wireless guest network password. Linux support says it can be done ONLY using a local application, not the web interface. And only from Windows computer. In my situation, I have Linuxes, blackberry, players and other network equipment but no Microsoft software. I did not know that router doesn't work with Linux when I bought it. Had anybody resolved similar issue? Thanks Yu

Sorry the software is only supported on Windows or MAC.  You will need this to administer the Guest network.

  • Problem connect ipaq rx3715 to wrt330n router

I am having a problem getting my Ipaq rx3715 to connect wirelessly to my WRT330N router.  everything is ok on the Ipaq's side and when i go into the router settings it sees the pda and has given it an IP address.  but the pda still won't actually CONNECT to the network.  HELP PLEASE

It seems that your Ipaq is connected to your Router, but you are not able to browse internet on your Ipaq. As you are getting Valid IP adress on your Ipaq from the Router, you can login to your Linksys router setup page, click on Status Tab and under status you will get WAN IP , just you need to note down the DNS1 and DNS2 Ip's and then give a Static IP i.e : 192.168.1.10, Subnet : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 and the DNS1 and DNS2, After this try going online.I think this might solve your Problem.

  • Westell 6110f modem & Netgear N900 R4500 router

    Hi!
I have a Westell 6110F modem and Belkin F5d9230 router that works fine. I want to replace the router with a Netgear N900 R4500 router. I set it up like the Belkin, but it won't talk to Verizon. Right now I have the new router plugged into the old router and have Internet access on the new router. I'd prefer to have just one (I need to stream some music to a couple of places and the Belkin doesn't handle it). Can anyone help?
    Extech

#1 With the Belkin router connected to the Westell and it is online, go to the LAN IP of the Belkin router.
#2 In there, the WAN IP Address of the router should be the same IPv4 Address that you see at http://www.pcwintech.com/myip
#3 If it is not, then your modem combo is not in bridge-bridge mode (configured to handle the public IP)
#4 As how to put the modem combo into bridge-bridge mode, see
    http://www.dslreports.com/faq/13600
#5 If you have any questions as how to do that, please post.
#6 If the WAN IP Address is the same at step 2:
    a) in the Belkin router go to Connection Type under WAN.
    b) In the connection type is DHCP...
#1 In the Belkin router go to back to the main page of the Belkin router.
For example if you are at http://192.168.2.1/wan.html, go to http://192.168.2.1
#2 Record down the WAN MAC Address.
#3 In the Netgear router, you will need to spoof/clone that Address.
I believe the feature exist in the Netgear at Advanced -> Setup -> WAN Setup

  • Linksys Router BEFW11S4 problems with iphone

i have a linksys router bedfw11s4 version 4 and im having problems with wifi on my iphone
i can search and connect to my router but the interent is extremely slow
i have no problems with my laptop
i read some info on this board regarding changing it to static ip but im having problems figuring out how to config it
when i goto into my router setting i only see 1 DNS address

So on your IPhone you are getting connected to your Wireless Network, but the Internet is working slow, then i would suggest you to change some settings on your Router....
Once you login to the router setup page, Under Wireless ... Change the Wireless channel to 11-2.462GHz and click on Save Settings....
Then under Advacnce Wireless Settings.... Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings".....
Now check if your IPhone, how is the Internet Speed....
If still slow then i would suggest you to upgrade the firmware of your Router....
Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in serach tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop..
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Router Setup Web form display problem

When I open Internet Explorer 6 to my router setup page (192.168.1.1), the menus and control discriptions are missing. Internet explorer reports an error with processing some of the web scripts. I'm using: WRT54G V8. I have tried reseting the router but it does not fix the problem. I have tried using the Opera Browser but it has the same problem. Unfortunately, I can't attach a screen capture to this post. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, mm

I did some playing around and found that in "Save Mode" the setup web form displays properly. So I upgraded the router firmware in Save Mode, rebooted and now the setup form displays fine in regular mode. I should note that I also re-installed ZoneAlarms (firewall application). Thanks, mm

  • Constant Problems With Linksys Wirless Router

Ever since I bought this Linksys Wireless Router it's been the same ordeal. At certain times, depending on what websites I visit, it will knock me right off the internet and I can't get back on unless I restart my computer. It is so aggravating and annoying and takes like 10 minutes to restart each time. I was assured that the Linksys Wireless Router I bought was compatible with Vista. I've had this same problem ever since I bought it. I've talked to tons of technical support staff and none of them know anything. They all give me a different reason. They tell me I need to download new drivers or the latest version or whatever else, but nothing works. The same problem persists. One thing I have learned is that I get knocked off by going on specific websites. So, in order to use the Internet, I must avoid these known websites that cause me to get knocked off the Internet. I can try and reconnect, but it always says that no network connections are available afterwards, and I must restart my whole computer to get back on the Internet. I am perfectly fine going on these known websites on my other computer that has the actual modem/router hook up. Anyone know why this happens and if there's anyway to fix this? If not I am just going buy me a whole new router/modem cause I am tired of this crap. Thanks, Blake

Change the MTU size on the router to 1300 ... Also reset the browser security settings ....
You can also forward ports 25-27 & 443-447 ... to ensure that secure sites should open ....

  • Hi, I need help to secure my linksys wireless router, i tried the setup guide but i didnt work..

    hello
I need help securing my linksys wireless router with speed boosters. In august me and some friends took over this rented house, and with the house we got their old internett system, we use a linksys router, This nett is open for everyone, but we want to secure it for other users. We didnt get the manual and i've tried the guide on your site but it says it cant be changed. The old owners didnt either know what to do. Is there some help i can get with this? Is there some buttom i can push to reset it and then make it possible?

Connect your computer using wire to router. Open setup page of router by typing http://192.168.1.1 in browser's address bar, and typing password as "admin" and no user name, if admin doesn't work reset router and do above step again. Go to wireless tab, here change wireless network name from linksys to any other name. Save the settings. Go to wireless security sub-tab here change security mode to WPA personal etc, and enter you secret key in passphrase/shared key, Save the settings. This secret key will be security key of your wireless network.
