Westell Versalink 327W

I have the above wireless router. I use the ethernet port on this to connect to my desktop. I had set up a Wireless connection on this router (usercode & pw forgotten). I want to reset this router. How do I do this? I also do not remember nor have the Account Id & pw provided by Verizon. How do I get this?

How to reset the router (and) what the default user name and password is..
Go get the official manual for this router.

  • Need help with Westell Versalink 327w on new computer with Windows Vista

    Greetings!
I'm having trouble trying to connect to my Westell Versalink 327w with my new computer. My old computer and laptop work perfectly fine in connecting to the router. However, when I plug in the Ethernet cable to the router on my new computer, the computer doesn't recognize that a connection is even established. (As if it's not actually plugged in.)
The port on the back of my computer is perfectly fine, as it works with another internet connection I have setup. The cable and router work fine on both my old computer and laptop. (In fact, I'm using the laptop to post on the forums right now.)
The Router itself shows the Ethernet connection that's plugged in as a blinking green light.
Is there a driver or some software I need to install on the new computer? Any specific settings?
I'm using Windows Vista on the new computer, and the old computers both have Windows XP. Is there some sort of complicated new setup that Vista has which is preventing the connection, or like I said, is there software or a driver that I didn't install on the new computer that's making it not recognizing the router at all?
Any help would be much appreciated!

    IceSage,
Hey there!  Drivers would not required for an ethernet connection to the Versalink.  This appears to be an issue with Vista specifically.  If you have not already done so you may want to disable IPv6 in the TCP/IP settings of your LAN controller:
Network and Sharing Center > Manage network connections > Right click on "Local Area Network" > Properties > Uncheck "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) > Click "OK" > Reboot > cross fingers
Let us know if that works.
    Regards,
    Chris

  • What is the correct firmware update check URL for a Westell VersaLink 327W?

Hi, I was wondering what the correct URL is for the modem to check for updated firmware on the Westell VersaLink 327w. My model is the  D90-327W15-06 and its current firmware is 04.04.03
To clarify, I'm looking for the URL that goes in the box at the top of the upgrade page in the router's advanced settings. That link is a screenshot of what my page currently looks like.
Since I first got this modem 2 or 3 years ago, it has never been able to properly check for updates. I've tried changing the URL to point to the Verizon support page for manually downloading the firmware but that doesn't seem to work either. I'm guessing the URL should point to a specific file, possibly an xml or something? I don't remember what the original address in the box was but it didn't work anyway.
I'm pretty sure I am running the latest version (04.04.03) and manually upgrading isn't a problem if a new version comes out but its always bugged me that the built-in check has never worked right for me so I figured I'd ask on here for the heck of it. At the very least I'd like it to be able to check version information even if it can't upgrade automatically.
Does the built-in firmware check work for anyone else using the 327w or similar model? If so, could you kindly copy/paste the URL on your modem's firmware page? Even if you have a different modem, it might help me figure out the right address for my own. Thanks!

  • Failure to connect to Westell VersaLink 327w

I have a Westell VersaLink 327w wireless router, and have never been able to connect to it wirelessly.  I primarily use a corded, Ethernet connection, which works fine.  All attempts to connect wirelessly from assorted laptops and various router configurations have all failed.  I would most like to connect with my Dell Inspiron E1405 running Vista Home Basic, but I always get this message: "Wireless association failed because Windows did not receive any response from the wireless router or access point."
I have attempted to connect manually, tried various router settings, ensured the router is set to "open", enabled and disabled security, and followed every step in the Westell setup instructions.  Nothing works.  Similar results from laptops running XP and Macs.  In all cases, the signal strength is excellent, and the network ID is certain.
I am beginning to believe that the Westell router requires Westell wireless cards or adapters.  Is there any way to solve this issue without purchasing all new equipment?
    Thank you.
    Solved!

update the firmware on the wireless card in your notebook. there is an issue with the dell wireless cards not connecting.  also update your firmware on your router and the driver for your wireless nic.

  • Westell versalink 327w modem wireless problem

I just set up the modem for wifi to connect my ipod touch I just bought. I got it connected but the internet went VERY slow on the ipod. As I was trying it out, I noticed the wifi connection strength go from 1 to 3 bars randomly. Eventually it just kicked me off and I had no wifi! I went into the settings modem settings, and it stated wifi was offline, when in fact it is set to be online! This makes no sense. So i've come to the conclusion that the modem itself is to blame. Randomly loosing signal strength and losing can only be from the modems end since the ipod is brand new. So my next question is, what steps do i have to take to get verizon to send me a new modem since this one seems to have faulty wifi service?

If you want to, you could..
#1 Go get a RJ-45 WAN port router.
#2 Then put the 327w into bridge mode.
The directions for that were found following this path
    a) http://start.verizon.net/
    b) Support
    c) Internet
    d) Home Networking
    e) Connecting a third party router to your network.

  • Verizon Westell Versalink Modem?

I am buying a new imac intel duo core 2 20 inch. Can i just plug into my Verizon Westell Versalink Modem and go? Will it automaticley detect my connection? Thanks

Verizon's DSL is a mixed bag. Sometimes the software which comes with it works great. Sometimes you have to get on the phone with them and wait up to two hours to get ahold of a Mac technician as they don't leave a certain setting on right in the modem. You should at least find out from Verizon if you have a PPPoE connection and what are the default username and password in case the software that comes with it does not install properly, as well as the Domain Nameserver and Nameserver addresses. Then you can put those settings yourself in Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Network.

  • Cisco E1000/ Westel Model 327W with DSL connection

I have a Westel model 327W for my DSL service.  I received it from my internet provider (Bellsouth). I recently purchased a Cisco E1000 router for what I though was a easy connect. For two days off and on I have tried to connect them but I have not been able. I'm not very computer smart but I do know the basics. I have managed to cripple one desktop and a laptop that had wireless or ethernet to the point the system tells me they are not equiped with wireless cards and my wireless range on the computer I'm typing on is about 5 feet.  Can someone explain to me how to connect the Westel DSL to the Cisco router.

The Cisco Connect software comes with the Linksys Wireless-N (E/EA - Series) routers that let you manage your network easier. For the setup process, you need to perform the following:
    i.   Verify that there is an active Internet connection between the computer and modem
ii. Setting up the router using Cisco Connect
    QUICK TIPS:
The router’s power adapter needs to be plugged to your router and into an available power outlet.
If using a wired connection, the first Ethernet cable needs to be plugged to the computer’s LAN port into any of the router’s blue numbered Ethernet ports.
The second Ethernet cable should be plugged to the modem’s Internet port and the other end into the router’s yellow Internet port.
Ensure that you have no firewall enabled that may prevent the router from being detected.

  • Westell Versalink 7500 login problem

I was trying to reconfigure my Versalink 7500 router as a bridge last night.  At a couple times I got frustrated and pressed the factory reset button.  Now I can't login to the admin pages.  I've tried the default username "admin" and password "password" (without quotes) many times, as well as the username and password I had set in the past, but none of it is working.  I'm connected via ethernet cable.
Has anyone else gotten a 7500 that wouldn't accept the default username and password after a reset?  Did you find a solution?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I assume the problem was browser-related.  I couldn't log in when I was using Chrome on a Windows 7 laptop.  Last night I tried it from Safari on a G5 PowerMac and was able to log in, but I couldn't connect to the internet.  That's a subject for a different thread, though.
I'm not sure what you mean about disabling a walled garden.  Do you mean shutting off the DHCP server on the Westell?  I have done that.
    Thanks for the reply!

  • Westell link 327W crashes Occasionally only when I use the PowerLine NETGEAR HDXB111(2 - HDX111)

  • Westell Model 327W DSL connection in and out today about every 10 minutes

Anyone else in Eastern MA having the same problem today?

Yes, still having service problems this morning.  Losing and regaining my DSL connection about every 5 to 10 minutes.  Very discouraging.  Can't do anything unless I time it perfectly to fit in between the constant ups and downs.  I tried to notify Verizon of the problem by phone yesterday, but no luck with their robotic phone system.

  • Can't see other computers using Westell Versalink 327

The computers wired to the router can't see the computers connected via WiFi and vice-versa.  It is possible to mount a shared folder as a drive in either direction, but the shares don't show up in Windows Explorer.  I think this is because the router separates the wifi and wired connections somehow.  Anyone figure out how to get around this?

I was already able to see shared folders by mounting them as drives.  I wasn't able to see shared folders in Windows Explorer.  But I have figured out how, finally.  I found I had to log in from the wi-fi connected machines to the ethernet-connected machine.  So it doesn't seem that the problem was some kind of separation of the two kinds of connections by the router.

7.Released and Renewed ip in cmd (ran as admin) still nothing.

  • Need step by step instructions for wireless security setup on my westell modem

I tried setting up security shortly after getting the modem, but I had trouble getting vista laptop to work with the security settings. I don't feel like figuring this all out. I would like step by step instructions for my modem. It is the Westell VersaLink 327W. If these instructions are on a web site somewhere that would be great.
    Thanks.

I think I just answered my own question. I exported to my desktop and then added it to my iDisk.
If anyone has any other tips, that would be great. Not sure how to set up the size of the frames.

  • Can't send email from home

I have a serious problem. My wife has a Mac Book Pro for work and she can send email at any location except from home. The error she is getting is
Cannot send message using the server smtp.knology.net:(username)
The server "smtp.knology.net" refuses to allow a connection on the default ports. Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click try later to leave the message in your outbox until it can be sent.
I have BellSouth/AT&T DSL with a Westel Versalink 327W modem. The funny thing is our local library also has BellSouth DSL and she can send email from there. Like I said, the only place she can't send email is from our house.
    Thanks

It is the BS/ATT system you are on. BS/ATT does not allow sending email to another domain from a Residential account. I had the same problem with my work email from home. All sent mail on port 25, I think it is, from a ATT Residential account must go through the ATT servers and or ATT/Yahoo.
Have your wife check with the mail provider for an alternate sending port. My work mail servers used port 26 for POP and some other port for IMAP.
    EDIT:
Right the Library has a Business Account. No restrictions on the Business ATT DSL.
