Westell2200 and vista64

I am replacing my windows xp computer with a vista 64. When I plug in the westell 2200 modem I get: not compatible with vista. Also, no drivers found. I can access internet through ie but not msn, and no e-mail. Is there a way to configure the modem or do I need a new one?

Thanks for the response. I finally called verizon support and they got me going. It was pretty involved but basically the modem/router [westell2200] had to be reset, new password, and several other changes they had to make. They used the go2 program which worked great. I don.t know why I had a problem. 8 months ago I bought a new laptop with vista 64 and did not have any problems. Also, at work I installed a new computer just like the one at home and also had no problems. Go figure.
Only problem now is she downloaded MSN premium, which I had before and now get: windows has detected a critical problem and will shut down in 1 minute. I am using an old version of windows messenger.
I googled the problem and found that verizon no longer supports msn premium. I'm trying to fix this problem now. I have MSN premium on my work and laptop computers and no problem with them.

I am not a real technical person, but I know there must be a fix, or I cannot use the Elements.  Please help.

Thanks for the info. I reinstalled elements too but it didn't help. I'll try the Vista reinstall next.

  • ITunes trying to sync old podcasts (and failing!)

I have a 30GB video iPod. Trying and it failing to sync with iTunes on MacBook Pro. Same problems happen with new shuffle so would seem to be an iTunes problem.
First of all it says some items in the iTunes library including xxxx were not copied because they could not be found. It then gives a list of OLD podcasts that I can't find in iTunes or in finder.
Is there a corrupt file that tells iTunes to look for old podcasts to sync with?
It gets so far and then says "attempting to copy to the disk yyyyyy failed. The disc could not be read from or written to.
However it is NOT an iPod problem. The same iPod will sync fine with iTunes on a windows PC and a Shuffle suffers the same problem with this MacBook Pro.

Welcome to the Palm Support Community Emily, but I'm at a loss as to what you are asking...
What exactly is "the new operating system"?   Windows 7?   If so, what bit depth is it?  32bit or 64bit?
What is "that file" you're referring to that you think is a .dll?   Your Contacts and Calendar data?
What is "Outlook 7"?   Microsoft Outlook 2007?
If indeed you've just obtained Windows 7, and it's the 64bit version, there is a way to sync the TX via a wireless method - either BlueTooth or Wifi.
Please read the thread I wrote on "How to sync the TX and Vista64" at the top of this section.  It's very similar to Windows 7.

  • 1.2 bios flash works fine on P35 Platinum but still having DMA/PIO trouble on XP

After all the scare stories of the latest bios I thought I should mention that it worked like a charm for me.  I went from default 1.0D to 1.2 using the MSI Forum HQ USB flashing tool: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=108079.0 not using any windows or floppy util.
Once flashed I switched-off and unpluged it for a few minutes, then when I turned on I pressed the little reset button next to the battery on the motherboard.   Then I cycled the power a few times till the monitor came to life and asked me to press F1 to reset the clock and stuff.  Works great!
Now the problem I was trying to fix is that I only have IDE drives and although it boots up saying DMA mode 6 when I do something intensive such as launch Quake4 or install SP2 it reverts to PIO mode and renders it unplayable.
Same problem on both XP64 and 2003 32bit.  Linux and Vista64 work great but I wanted an OS for games.  Anyone else solve this problem?

  • Satellite A300D-15B PSAKCE - Cannot install the Win XP 64bit sound driver

    Hello all,
This is my first post here after lurking for the last week or two, My hope is that somewhere here there is help and hence hope!
I have a wonderful Toshiba A300D-15B PSAKCE with 4GB/O RAM, however I am suffering from some problems that the holy SEARCH function cannot solve. I use this laptop as a development box for uni/work alas...
After an absolute nightmare with Vista32 and Vista64 I decided to go back to windows XP32, however this wont install, keeps claiming a CRC file failure after (and yes this is with the SATA in IDE mode and with an XPSP2 disk)
I decided that I really DONT want to goback to Vista, so installed Windows XP64. Now the initial Instal goes very easy, I have the basic setup, the chipset, graphics, network, processor, usb, pretty much the basic... except... and this is where I have lost most of my hair.... SOUND!
Firstly attempting to install the sound driver results in Failure, claiming the mmdriver.inf cannot be found or corrupt, obviously I checked, and yes there it is, for the sake of it downloaded the MMDRIVER.INF and placed it system32, and still the install fails.
I have also tried a "Manual Install", from the .inf files... this includes the XP32/64 drivers and the Vista 32/64 bit drivers, still the same
problem, driver continues to fail install. I am becoming increasingly bald. Outstanding Drivers that WONT install

if there is any help or ideas I would appreciate it.

    Thanks Jaba
Initially I attempted to locate the MS patches you mentioned, KB835221 and KB888111 respectively, alas there were none available that I could find for XP64, also at the time of tapping this message theres no XPSP3 for XP64 bit either.
Lucky for me I logged into my MSDN account and downloaded XP+XPSP3 tore the house up looking for a CDR... anyway long story short.... solved all the problems with the required updates of SP3, I now have my Toshiba A300D-15B all singing 'n dancing laptop setup completely with XP32.
Had to take a hit on the RAM though, gonnna have to go on with only 3.2GB instead of 4GB,
arguably when one counts the memory foot-print that vista ultimate 64 had used I am probalby still on a winner here in memory avaiable terms LOL!
    thanks again! much help!

  • JMF-based applet can not detect audio devices on Vista (?)

    Hi,
As many people reported, I encountered the same issue - CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList does not detect any audio device on IE/Vista.
    Here is my testing environment:
HP XW4600, RealTek HD Audio onboard sound card,
Vista SP1 (Business, Home Premium, and Vista64)
    JRE1.5.0_16, JMF2.1.1e
A recording Applet runs in IE7 (which works fine on XP and its Java application version always works fine on Vista)
I have tried a number of things without success:
1)Use different audio formats as the input parameter for getDeviceList
    2)Try CaptureDeviceManager.getDevice(new String("DirectSoundCapture"))
    3)CaptureDeviceInfo info = new CaptureDeviceInfo(com.sun.media.protocol.dsound.DataSource.NAME,new MediaLocator("dsound://"),null);
    4) Vector devices = (Vector) CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList(null).clone();
    5)Uncheck UAC(Vista User Access Control)
    6)Set IE settings least restrictive
7)Try signed or unsigned recording Applet
8)Pack the recording Applet to a jar and deploy to JRE\lib\ext
9)Run JMFInit and copy the files in JMF\Lib to System32 folder
On a few occasions, audio devices can be detected. For examples,
10)Upgrading an HP XW4200 (XP machine with AC97 codecs driver) to Vista,
11)1/5 chance on the machines with both Sun JRE and MS Java SDK installed.
12)Trying Item # 9. it worked once on one machine, but after rebuilding the machine, the same trick does not play.
I am wondering if there is a way to let JMF-based applets detect audio devices on Vista or this is an inherent problem with JMF, IE and Vista.
I would appreciate it very much if youd kindly offer any help and suggestions.

I would appreciate it very much if you'd kindly offer any help and suggestions. >I suspect the basic problem here, is the installer that defaults to preventing the applet access to record sound (I am guessing that would 'spill over' into web-cam permissions). A quick test of that is to try the same code as an application.
If the application works, one possible fix is to launch the application using webstart. Webstart will work from a web page, and offers many other advantages over a standard applet.

  • BootCamp 2.1 Success/Failure

    Hello everyone.
There are now several threads on this topic. I have read over most of them and i think i may have found a link between the failures. However, proving this will require your help. Although the update just released is 2.1, most people will have used v2.0 drivers up until now (included on Leopard DVD). However, it appears that there was a sneaky update to BootCamp that is only available on certain Restore Discs that come with new Macs. The version contained on them is 2.02.
I would like people to list their experience with installing v2.1.
    Answer these questions please.
    1. Your Mac model (be specific with release dates/model numbers)?
    2. Did you install drivers from a Leopard DVD, or from your Restore Discs?
    3. Did your 2.1 install succeed, or fail?
    4. XP, Vista32 or Vista64?
    5. Windows on partition within OS X hard drive, or separate drive?
Keeping your answers short will allow easier collation of people's responses. Thanks.
    My details are as follows...
    1. MacPro 3.0Ghz 8-core (April 2007)
    2. BootCamp drivers installed from Leopard DVD
    3. BootCamp 2.1 succeeded on XP, installer fails to launch on Vista64
    4. See 3, above
    5. XP on separate drive, Vista64 on separate drive

    Hello again,
I have done some more digging around the internet and tried a few more tricks. My specific interest is Vista64.
It seems to be a fact that, prior to Boot Camp 2.02, there are no 64 bit drivers for Vista. Boot Camp 2.02 appears to be available only on the Restore Discs that came with Mac Pro 2008 model. This means that, for example, my Vista64 installation (which has Boot Camp 2.0 drivers installed from the Leopard DVD) has only 32 bit drivers installed. I have confirmed this by seeking out the location of the installed drivers. They are in a folder called 'Boot Camp' within 'Program Files(x86)'. The 'Program Files' folder (this is the 64 bit folder) has no 'Boot Camp' folder in it at all.
To test out a theory, i downloaded the BC 2.1 update for Vista32. However, before installing this, i used the Leopard DVD BC 2.0 installer to remove the existing installation. I did this to see if the BC 2.1 Vista32 Update would install if there were no existing drivers at all. The update simply refused to even launch. I then re-installed BC 2.0 from the Leopard DVD and tried the BC 2.1 Vista32 updater. This time, the updater launched and went through the installation process. However, it gave the same errors (KeyAgent and Mac HAL) that v2.0 installer does.
Regardless, this appears to confirm that the BC 2.1 updaters (XP, Vista32 and Vista64) require a suitable set of existing Boot Camp drivers to be installed. I think it is also safe to say that the BC 2.1 Vista64 updater will only run if you have existing 64 bit drivers installed (i.e. you installed from Mac Pro 2008 Restore Discs, not the Leopard DVD or earlier)
I must add that the semi-successful installation of BC 2.1 Vista32 drivers has not given me the features found in XP (Eject Key, Volume Keys etc etc).
I would be very keen to get hold of a copy of the Boot Camp Drivers that are on the Mac Pro 2008 Restore Discs as i have read that the 'KeyAgent' and 'Mac HAL' errors are not present during installation. I am quite sure that with these drivers installed on my own Mac Pro, the BC 2.1 Vista64 updater will work.
Can anyone who has a Mac Pro 2008 extract the Boot Camp installer from their disc and send it to me somehow? Any suggestions on how this could be achieved? Upload to .Mac, Torrent etc.

  • HT1420 itunes install error in Vista

I (sadly) have Windows Vista Home Premium 64 and no matter what I try, I cannot install iTunes (9, 10, OR 11) successfully. I get an error that is very non-descript, stating my installation could not be completed. Period. No error number, nothing. Screenshot for your pleasure:
I have disabled my Norton Anti-Virus and "Smart Firewall" for the install, but that doesn't matter. And I tried re-installing. Same results.
Is there a way to view and shop at iTunes via my browser (IE8) without installing itunes program?
I thoroughly hate my operating system, and I only need to get onto iTunes to download the songs I want from the American show "The Voice".
It's very sad that there are people who cannot use their social media to vote for the contestants because iTunes and Vista64 aren't friendly.
Ok, aside from my rant, does anyone have direct links or help I can try?
    Thanks!

However, when I attempt to open said file, I get this message: Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.
Try doing a disk check on the drive that that file is located on.
Go "Start > Computer", select Properties, and in the Tools tab click "Error checking".
Does the disk check find/repair any damage? If so, does an iTunes install go through properly afterwards?

  • Early 2009 Mac Pro FireWirenot working with Hitachi/SimpleTech DuoPro drive

So I've got an early 2009 Mac Pro that is loaded with Bootcamp and Vista64. I am looking for an external raid option that works for Windows and didn't have any luck with any eSata PCIe card so I thought I would just use a firewire device. So I picked up a 2TB Duo Pro drive by SimpleTech.
My firewire ports work fine with other devices, but not with this drive and not with either operating system. It works fine though USB, but just doesn't do anything with either firewire 400 or 800.
    Any thoughts?

I have an early 2008 iMac and I have the exact same drive by Simpletech, 2TB Duo Pro. It does work on FW800 but connects at 400 UNLESS you power the drive on and plug it in while OS X is up and running, then the connection will be 800. Anyhow, I would make sure you have a good FW cable and also try the FW400 cable that came with it. I bought a FW800 cable and it worked fine so unless the Mac Pro and iMac use different FW hardware, I think it IS compatible.

  • Layer colour tagging bug

If I assign a colour to a layer and then change the layer to a Smart Object the colour tag is lost.
    1) Open image
    2) Duplicate (Ctrl+J) Background to create a Layer (Layer 1)
    3) Right-click on the Layer 1 'Eye' icon and choose a colour (Red)
    4) Right-click on Layer 1 and choose " Convert to Smart Object
    5) The Red colour that was assigned in step 3 will now disappear.
Expected Result: Layers that have been assigned a colour should keep that colour even when converted to a Smart Object.
    PS6 Build: m.415
Confirmed on both Windows7-64 and Vista64
    Motherboard: Asus P6X58D-E
CPU: Intel Core i7- 960 (Not overclocked)
    RAM: 24GB
    Video: ATI Radeon HD5700
    HD: OCZ-Vetiex2 120GB SSD (OS/Apps)
    HD: WD600GLFS (Data)
    HD: WD300GLFS PS (Scratch)
(This error has also confirmed by someone else using a Mac)
    Russell

That might be what's going on behind the scenes. But I'm not sure most users will understand why adding a colour tag to a layer cannot be maintained when all they're doing is choosing to apply a layer option.
In my case I was organizing 20 small images on the canvas and found the colour tags very useful in that I could view and align/distribute various groups as per their assigned colour. I then decided that resizing was needed so I changed them all to SO's and that's when all the work I did assigning colours was lost. If the colour tag is being offered as a layer organization feature then it should be maintained when a common layer operation is performed.
Your explanation sounds as if converting a layer to a SO should also cause it to lose any name we've given that layer. But a layer name is not lost and remains intact. So why not the colour?

  • Yellow Triangle - Startup Volume Not Mac OSX Journaled

I have a Dec07 MacBook Pro, currently running 10.5.8, with the original 200GB hard drive. I was using PGP Desktop, but not the WDE feature. I am running Fusion 2.0.5 and Vista64.
I have used Tech Tool Pro 5 to repair the primary disk, etc., but nothing changes. I finally decided that the problem might be the eDrive feature I was using in TTP5. I removed it, but it did not regain the space that was being used. Instead, it is showing two partitions, but lists the old eDrive partition as Free Space.
Is this my problem in installation? When I ran the fsck -fy routine the first thing that popped up was "Checking non-journaled HFS+ volume". I don't know what that means.
I currently use Time Machine on an Firewire 800 link to a 750GB External HD. However, it has three partitions. I have SuperDuper and ChronoSync as well. If I wanted to wipe out and start fresh, how do I clone the existing drive?
Thanks in advance for the help.
    Joe

The partition slider is not available for the MacBook Pro drive, only for my external drives. I have also tried after booting from the Mac OS/X disk as well as the Tech Tool Pro 5 disk with the same result.
After contacting MicroMat it appears that there is an Apple OS/X problem with Tech Tool Pro 5 where the release of the TTP5 eDrive does not return to the default of one single partition. Instead, it remains as two partitions, but the former eDrive is now considered "Free Space". As such it is not accessible. In fact it does not even show up as a second partition unless I boot from the DVD.
Since it appears I am left with no choice but to reformat the drive, I will have to use SuperDuper to clone the drive. I have some questions and hope you can answer them for me.
I currently have three partitions in my external FireWire drive. Do I need to eliminate them and only have one for the cloning of the MacBook Pro drive or can I duplicate it to one of the external drive partitions? Will it work with a USB drive as the external drive? What about an eSata drive? How do I make sure that only the primary partition, not the "Free Space" partition, is being duplicated? Do I reformat using the existing 10.5 version of OS/X or the Snow Leopard DVD?
    Thanks.

  • Itunes quits streaming to appletv in Vista 64

I have an appletv that I stream music from my vista 64 PC (quad core CPU, 8 gig RAM, terabyte drive) on wired LAN. The problem is that after perhaps an hour of streaming music with no problems the appletv will no longer see the itunes service and the music abruptly stops. The option for shared music does not show up on the appletv menu. After closing and restarting itunes (not the Vista OS) the appletv sees the itunes service again and I can start listening to music again. I do not have this issue with an XP laptop, so I believe I can safely rule out the appletv hardware as problematic. This problem will even occur while I am working on my PC. I am running all the latest updates for the appletv, itunes and Vista64. Anyone know what is going on?

    Chenks,
Thanks for your reply. You definitely sent me down the correct path. I have isolated the problem to the Windows firewall, but not sure what port(s) I need to have open. I have already opened tcp 3689 and I still have the problem of the ATV not seeing the itunes service on my PC after an hour or so of streaming, but if I turn off the windows firewall and restart itunes I can stream for numerous hours without problems. I have tried opening tcp 53, 80, 123, 443, 5353 and checking the exceptions for itunes and everything related to media on the FW exception list yet I still have the same problem. Do I need to enable media sharing? Any other ideas? Thanks

  • Satellite U400D - Where can I get drivers for Windows XP?

    Hello,
Could you please send me weblinks to Windows XP drivers for satellite U400D? It took ages and i didn't find any of them!!
Thanks a lot, i am getting desperade

    Hi
The Satellite U400D supports only Vista 32bit and Vista64 because on the Toshiba driver download page I can only find drivers for these Windows versions.
So you should be happy with the preinstalled OS because U400D is fast enough for Windows Vista. It should work really well with Vista.
If you want pretty old Windows XP you have to collect the drivers yourself. Here are some exaples where you can search for drivers:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/

  • ATi 4870 in boot camp?

The fact that the Mac Pro is getting the 3870 at the same time as windows gets the 4870 is a joke, however, I was wondering if it would be possible to leave in the 2600 for OSX and throw in a 4870 to use in boot camp Windows? If this is a feasible option then I would be interested in upgrading back to Mac.

    Agreed...
I had two 8800GT's in my MacPro (3.0GHz) which worked fine (individually) in both OSX, and Vista64. (Ubuntu's X11 config is another story!)
But now, I have an XFX GTX280 in slot 1 and an one of the 8800GTs in slot 2.
To do this, I had to rewire one of the supplied 8800GT PCIe power connectors, because they use a smaller, scaled-down version of the 6-pin PCIe cable connector that connects to the MP mobo. I showed my PC buddy who builds PC Audio workstations for a living, and he's never seem them before...
Gee, thanx Apple for not using standard modular PSU PCIe connectors on the MP mobo!!
Keeping the scaled-down connector end, (obviously) I wired onto it a 6+2 PCIe connector to drive the GTX280 as it requires (like the new 4870) 1 x 6-pin and also 1x8-pin PCIe power connectors. So both the MP PCIe power connectors coming from the mobo are powering the GTX280.
This site is an excellent description of the 6+2 PCIe connector that included power diagrams for the 6, 6+2 and 8 pin PCIe Connectors. Infact if you need to make your own "anything" power cable, this site is I keep coming back to...
    http://www.playtool.com/pages/psucon...onnectors.html
Why use a 6+2 pin PCIe power connector and not the 8-pin PCIe connector? Cos now I can revert back to having 2x 6-pin connectors anytime I need to put the 2nd 8800GT back in...
My rewiring wasn't pretty, but it gets the job done. So much for the MP having a nice cable free mobo feel about it...
So, Given that I used up the 2 6-pin cables from the MP's mobo, to get power to the 8800GT, I used the XFX GTX280's supplied 6-pin PCIe to 2-Molex connector and sourced power from the 2 optical molexes that power the optical drives.
Consequently, I don't have the optical drive connected at the moment, but I want to do more testing before I use a molex splitter.
Given that the 2 video cards are never used for 3D gaming simultaneously, I'm already confident the MP PSU is coping well with the power requirements. (1200W is what I've read elsewhere!! )
So, Assuming no OSX drivers for the 4870. (any word of OSX drivers for the 4870 yet?)
If one were to install one 4870 in a MP for Windows, some splicing-and-dicing would be needed (like above) if you wanted to use a 3870/4870 as well for OSX.
Note: Holding down option to choose what to boot from via EFI is not possible unless I have the 8800GT installed. The GTX280 is not displaying anything on screen when in EFI.
With my DELL 24" monitor connected to the GTX280, the Dell's LED on the front is not aware/powering-up/receiving-signal etc etc either.
The GTX280 was bought for an Nvidia mobo that can do 3-way SLI so I'm still hoping that 2x 3870s in crossfire is not going to be the fastest and best option for Windows gaming on a MacPro, AND while still have the use of the video cards in OSX.

  • CS3 write speed

    Greetings,
I have been using cs3 and vista64 home premium now for awhile with few to no problems. I just purchased a replacement external dvd burner (LG 20X) for my failing plextor 16x.
When using my replaced plextor, I believe it burned at the max speed but only displayed "8X" in the speed indicator box. My internal writer speed is displayed correctly at 6x (I think, I have not checked for sure.)
Now after replacing with the new LG20, there is no displayed speed at all. The internal displays as before. I believe the new external is writing at max speed, without emperical testing. The most disturbing aspect of the situation is no longer having the ability to select slower burn speeds with the external LG20. Anyone have this problem? TIA Dennis - Iowa

    Neil,
Thanks for the reply. I do use 16x TY printable disks. The LG20 states it writes 20x to 16x disks. I don't recall seeing any actual 20x printable TY disks.
One other issue I have run into with CS3 is what evidently Encore considers "smurfed" files. I had never before had a file not burn and cause Encore to stop working and close. I had one during the first few CS3 sessions and just removed it from the project. Then the next session I had 2 more files rejected. Then after a few more sessions I have had one more rejected. In each case I just removed from the project and it completed. I have not seen any similar posts on message boards with this issue. I have not attempted to burn these smurfed files in different projects. What do you think? Dennis - Iowa
