WET200 Firmware failure

I tried to upgrade a WET200 with the latest firmware following massive problems during setup (connecting to the wireless network was hit and miss and I couldn't get any traffic between wireless and wired). Using the config I began to upload the new firmware but after about 10 minutes the browser was redirected to an error page saying the page was unavailable. No ethernet lights were on any more.
So, after leaving it for a futher half hour (just in case) I powercycled the bridge, only now it doesn't seem to be booting up:
Cannot access default IP in browser or by pinging.
No entries in ARP tables, suggesting there is no communications at all.
Reset (holding reset button for 10 seconds) has no effect. No lights change (I assume something should happen).
Trying to use unit as a wired hub/switch (ie. communicating between two computers using ethernet) doesn't work either.
I found another post on here with a similar problem, where suggestions included holding reset for a minute - again, nothing.
Any help woud be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure what the score is on manufacturers warranty as I bought the unit as a 'box opened but unused' on Ebay.

I regret to inform you that your warranty is no longer good, if there was one on it at all. The device definitely should not reset/stop responding while a firmware upgrade is in progress. If you look at the front of the device there may be a diag light that stays lit (red) when the power is on. If that is the case then your device is defiinitely bad.
The factory reset button should be held for 30 seconds to perform a complete factory reset. If that has not helped, it may be time for a new bridge.

  • Firmware failure. Disk write error.

I have gotten this new iPod shuffle, and I have installed the latest itunes, however when I try to install the latest software for the iPod I get "firmware failure. disk write failure." I get the same thing when I try to restore it. I cannot get windows or iTunes to recognize the iPod. Windows views it as a mass storage device, and it is completly oblivious to iTunes. Any suggestions as to what I can do? I have tried everything 3 times or more from the support pages.
I cant seem to contact any other type of support. Every time I try to use the chat section it tells me to enter a valid serial number...
    wow.
    Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Okay, this probably isn't what people want to hear, but if you have the dreaded 'Disk Write Error' failure, it doesn't necessarily mean your iPod is hooped.
Bought my Shuffle 1G yesterday. Brought it home, installed what I needed to (very little, as mine is the second Shuffle in the house). Anticipated problems, as my father's 512M Shuffle took three days to get working properly. I found myself pleasantly surprised to find that mine worked first shot, no muss or fuss. Funk-tacular!
Or not. Thingy worked fine all last night and this morning, but fell flat on its face when I plugged it in this afternoon. It didn't freeze solid (at first), but it refused to take in any more songs, and the ones that were loaded into it seemed to be draining out of the memory like water from an uncorked bathtub -- every time I managed to get Itunes to notice my little white headache, more memory reported as empty, though Thingy still refused to take in any songs (unable to read, or some such windows nonsense). Every time I tried to restore -- regardless of the update version, of which I tried three -- I saw the error mentioned in the title.
I'll delete about five hours of experimenting, hair-pulling, swearing, failing, wall-punching, and generally despairing over my iPlop purchase. Tried all five Rs to no avail, as well as formatting through windows. Nada.
I wish I could tell you exactly why it's working now. I can't; I got lucky. I downloaded iPod update (1-10-2006) and Itunes (6), wiped the system as clean as I could of old iPod and iTunes software (uninstall, erase folders, empty Recycle Bin, basically everything short of taking Windex to the hard drive). Reinstalled the Ipod software from the CD, reinstalled and updated iTunes and iPod update, then for a lark decided to try for the fifteenth time to reinstall Thingy. Holy crap, it worked!! After a momentary freezeup and the requisite restore to fix it (a result of my yanking the stupid thing out of the port at the wrong time), Thingy is working fine.
The moral? Don't despair, it can be fixed! Try everything more than once, get the latest software, start from scratch -- right from the CD in the iPoop box -- and keeping banging your head on it as long as you can stand it. You might be surprised!

  • Firmware Failure... Ipod Shuffle *****

This is my first Apple product. How can people even like is pile of crap?
The Itunes software is totally non-user friendly and my Ipod Shuffle is totally "locked-up" after 95 days of use. I have a "firmware failure" message and my computer will not recogonize the Ipod any more. After 4 calls to support (2 dropped calls by the answering system... which was nice) the tech said that I could mail the Shuffle in for repair... but it would cost $30 for S&H. What a scam!

hey buddy. i got mine yesterday. and i'm taking it back sometime today when i get a chance.
mine won't be recognized by the software either. this reminds me of my RCA lyra that i smashed to pieces with a hammer.
i was recently lent a sony PSP by a friend today to put music on it for him, and bingo, worked no problemo. (i'm listening to music on / from it as we speak now)
i've had many mp3 players and devices.. but it seems like some of the big companies have their fingers in their bum.
i'm undecided to get a new shuffle or get my money back. i really like the design and it's functions (mainly the lanyard cap), but if it doesn't work. it's really a shuffle used as a playing card. paperweight.

  • WRT54GL V1.1 Firmware Failure - Need Help To Try Recovery

Hello: I need assistance with my WRT54GL V1.1.
I was attempting to upgrade my firmware from 4.30.13 to 4.30.14 USA English version. The upgrade was nearly complete when the dreaded Upgrade Failed message appeared.  I have searched multiple Linksys Forums trying to recover my router. I tried the 30 second "reset" procedure with the router still powered on. When that did not help I tried another reset procedure I found on the internet called the 30 30 30. After following the "reset" instructions a couple times I have now gone from only the "fast power light blinking" failure to the following: Fast power light blinking AND all the Ethernet Port lights are turned on solid and the Internet light is also turned on solid.  At this point I am clueless which steps to even attempt.  I did connect an ethernet cable directly to Port 1 and tried to ping 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.5.1 which was the router's IP address before the firmware upgrade failed.  I get no response from either ping.  If anyone can help me save my just out of warranty (of course) router it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, have tried most if not all of the blinking power light solutions I could find on the internet. Have tried to ping the router from two different PCs with statiic IP assignments.
What I could not find anywhere on the various forums were my symptoms, which is Blinking Power Light plus the additional lights that are on solid.  I was hoping someone else has seen the problem I have and had some other solution.
With mine I have either Blinking Power & all (4) Port lights & Internet light on solid.  Then if I do a power off/on cycle I will have Blinking Power, Ports 1 & 4 and Internet lights on solid.
Again, was praying that someone would recognize the different lights as perhaps a coded error message with some recovery procedure.  I guess not and mine is a brick.
I did notice that a couple forums mentioned that the .BIN file download on these routers has to be LESS than 3mb or the router would be bricked.  The most current .BIN on the Cisco/Linksys page that I downloaded was MORE than 3mb.
I would think though that many many more owners of the WRT54GL V1.1 router would have complained to Cisco that the latest firware on this site is blowing up routers!

  • Anyone experience this type of total system/firmware failure?

2009 MacBook Pro 5,2 (2.66GHz Core2 Duo), recently upgraded to 8GB RAM, 320GB HDD with an OWC SSD drive replacement for the optical drive.
The system ran great, and was really fast given the recent 8GB upgrade and SSD as the main boot drive. I decided to set a firmware password for added security...worked no problem. The system rebooted fine, and requested the firmware password as expected when attempting to boot to alternate drives.
I then enabled FileVault 2 in Lion (10.7.2), and it worked as expected and seemingly encrypted the drive just fine; however, in Disk Utility the main boot drive was greyed out. Figuring it might just be a temporary issue I decided to reboot. Upon restarting, I get the boot chimes and nothing else...dead!
Now when the power button is pressed, the system's fans and HDD start up as expected and the boot chimes sound, but then it sits there. The screen does not turn on, and the system does not boot. The caps lock light activates, but it does not get past this point. Pressing the power button again results in an immediate shutdown, suggesing the SMC is not activating properly since it usually requires a ~5 second press for a hard shutdown.
I am able to reset the SMC, but doing this does not show any difference in behavior. I am not able to reset the PRAM at all--the system just sits in this dead state and then shuts off immediately when the power is pressed. I suspect the firmware password setting is preventing the PRAM from resetting, so I swap out RAM to clear the password (from 8GB to the old 4GB set), but this has no effect and the system behaves the same...dead.
I've tried booting without RAM and the system issues warning beep sounds as expected, and I've tried disconnecting the battery for a while and unplugging the hard drives, but no change.
My only conclusion is a completely corrupt/fried firmware that if only I could force to reset would work properly, so it seems beyond somehow doing this the only options are to replace the logic board (unless anyone has any other ideas).
Anyone else experience this kind of complete firmware/hardware failure?

In my case, nothing since I had already wiped/reformated the internal SSD of the Lion test installation (and it's recovery partition). I presume you are refering to the Lion Recovery feature in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1533:
    Press Command-R during startup
    Start from Lion Recovery1

  • WRT54G firmware failure leaving no access to router config

I have a WRT54G router.  Running Vista SP2 64-bit on a laptop wired to router.  When I first tried to upgrade the firmware I was connected wirelessly.  (I know, please just think it but don't type it)  During the upgrade the internet connection disconnected and the upgrade failed.  I am connecting right now wirelessly using someones unsecure network.  I attempted to upgrade the firmware to 8.00.7.  Since then I am unable to access the router config using IP 192.168.1.1.  I have read as many posts as I can handle.  I have checked and that is the IP showing in Vista, (Network & Sharing, view status, properties) however I cannot ping that IP.  It times out every time.  I have done all the resets (10 seconds and up to 1 minute) on the router and power cycle etc.  Nothing.  I downloaded the firmware utility and I get an error message everytime that it is unable to get responses from the server.  I have tried my password, which I think is gone due to all the resets, and am using admin as the password.  I have disabled my firewall.  I do have Network Magic and when I checked control internet access it says I am able to do so.  Is there a way to disable Network Magic?  Can that be the issue?  When all this started I had my own internet connetion.  I'm in the process of moving so I have disconnected my internet service.  Since I'm only trying to connect to the router locally, do I really need to have a live internet connection?  Please, HELP!  I don't want to buy a new router.  This one has been very reliable.  If I do have to buy something new, can you recommend something just as reliable.
There have been 2 or 3 times where it looked as though I was going to be able to connect to config interface and the firsrt basic screen loads with minimal data and no clickable links to allow me to change screens.  The "&" from one of the links that is supposed to appear but does not,  is the only thing that appears in that area and if I click it, I either get a error from IE that it cannot connect, or, it takes me to the Ports screen with minimal data and I cannot progress from there.  In the top right corner of the screen, it does show the firmware version is 8.00.7.  ?????
P.S.  Obviously, I'm not very computer savvy so excuse me if I'm missing the obvious.

  • Firmware Failure & Blank Screen

I installed 1.5 EFI Firmware and this caused my MBP to start-up with a blank screen.
Thanks to this forum http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7119212 , I found that deleting the sleepimage file from /private/var/vm/ fixed the problem. This was after AppleCare had written off the problem as being hardware related.
I had to restart the MBP this morning, however, and the problem had returned. This time the sleepimage file was not in situ. (I looked with the MBP in target disk mode.) When I rebooted again the display was back again, so I called AppleCare.
To cut a long story short, Apple does not recognise this as a problem, but will 'escalate' to engineering. I was offered - the deeply unhelpful - option of an archive and install, but the agent acknowledged that this would not fix whatever was in EFI. (Or does EFI have a disk-based component?)
I have now been told that my local service provider can force an EFI Firmware update, but does anyone here know if this is possible? (My experience of this sort of thing in the past has entailed logic board replacements, but I would like to know what I am letting myself in for.)
[I should have said that 1.5.1 will not install as it's 'not needed', so I have to assume that 1.5 installed whatever it installed properly!]

    Hi
    > Why was this thread closed?
I think the admin closed this thread because as mentioned by the user lumix2day the MS update has solved this issue.
The M400 was delivered with Win XP therefore the update should works with WinXP!
    Regarding your issue;
It looks like you are using your own copy of Vista on the M400.
You should check if the Vista is already up-to-date. Every week new MS updates are published.
Additinally I would recommend updating the BIOS and check for a newest display driver update!!!
    Best regards

  • Creative Zen Xtra Firmware Failure/Reload OS- Here's the how to fix

I know all of you must be excited just reading the word Fix.
Alright here is a very simple guide how to get that "upgrade button" back on the firmware upgrade software.
Considering that you have reached this point because you tried and failed to load firmware 2.0.3.0 because creative sucks.. well i have more bad news for you.. the only way that players is going to work now is you have to retry that crappy firmware and hope it'll work once.. so have it ready on your desktop. Remember you can't revert to old firmware.
OK, now the most important thing is requirements: You need to have all of these requirements:
    .Win XP SP2
2.Window Media player 0 with all the updates (go to microsoft and update it!)
Now you need to go to Device Manager, while your player is connected to your PC and find that MTP (ussually all the way at the bottom of the list). higlight it and update it's drivers (requires internet connection)
After doing that, you would have to Delete all of your USB Controllers. It is not messed up, but it is the only way for creative crappy software and player to re-connect.
Now when your done go to that firmware update and the Upgrade button should be Lit up once again.. and hope this time the upgrade works.. if not. well repeat all steps again.
Note: Be sure the Battery is FULLY charged, plugging it to a power outlet doesnt do the trick. If the battery is to low the firmware will say it wont proceed because of battery. Another creative dumbass programming.

    On your desktop.
    . Right click My Computer.
    2. Click on Hardware Tab
    3. Click Device Manager
    4. Click Uni'versal Serial Bus Controllers +
    5. Right Click Each of them and Click Unninstall
    6. Restart your computer (press Windows button and use keyboard and select Shutdown)
    7. Windows will automatically re-install USB drivers. Make sure Nomad Is not Connected
    8. Go Back to Device Manager, and plug in your Nomad. Window will detect it and place it under MTP Devices.
    9. Creative Mediasource Will not Detect it.
0.Right Click MTP device and chose Update Driver.
Now go to the firmware upgrade software you downloaded. Must be the latest version, the playfor sure version.
    Click the upgrade button.
To use media source, you have to download the playforsure plug in for Play for sure firmware.
Without it, you can only use window media player 0. If you dont have window media player 0, you have to download it.

Hi We have 2 ipod nanos and we kinda have the same 2 problems with each.....We go into itunes make a play list, the ipod is connected, and it tries to update a pop up box appears and tells us there is an error and to write the chkdsk utility. Then to try and fix this we are supposed to download the latest update but can't do that either because when we click on restore an error box pops up saying firmware disk error - how can this be fixed as we have 2 ipods unable to be used. We are using Windows XP & have broadband connection (if that is of use) We have read replies to this problem before but we can't fix it...

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I think are lost as to the structure of how Apple Discussions works.
Go back to where it says Discussions, and pick up:
Windows Compatible Technology's section, iPod, and post there.
This is the Mac OS X Mail & Address Book forum.
Someone here may still be able to answer your question, but it is usually best if you post in a section where people are known to have the same setup as the one you are having an issue with.

Also check the Ip address by connecting cable to any Four ports on the router ....
if Ip is 192.168.1.X .... that is good ... if not ... then use static Ip to the Local Area Connection .... i.e. 192.168.1.10 ...with subent 255.255.255.0 ....& gateway 192.168.1.1 ......
Once assigned static Ip .... ping 192.168.1.1 .... if getting replies .... access setup page of router ..using browser address bar .... ( http://192.168.1.1 ) .....
If you are getting request timed out .... disable all firewall or Antivirus software .....
if the ping status remains .... in that case the router is gone BAD ......

  • Creative Zen V PLUS firmware fail

    Creative Zen V Plus
    S/No. C6PF2072634R02752T
    DAP-FL0040
I have experinced, some problem during applying newest firmware. I haVe downloaded all new updates. Then I started Creative ZEN V Plus Firmware .0.03__ and ther was a problem.. On my player`s screen was displayed updating firmware. And there was displaying for a couple hour. But. At the end of applying of firmware. The message was updatinf firmware failure. Then I repeated for several times. And Againg was the same message.
Then I detached player from my PC. And from that time my player is not responding..
I tried to do this again. But my player is not functioning welll. When I tur it On the display is showing just Creative logo, and then it is (self) turned off.
Now player cant be recognised by computer. But when I connect my Zen V Plus, it is recognised as STMP3600 device , and is trying to install new driver.
    Can you Help me.
I bought my Creative Zen V Plus in miami I September this year. I`m Living in Serbia. Europe.
    Sincerely yours,
    Dejan Djordjevic
P.S. I`v tried to reset player, and to reset frimware according to your instruction in your Knowledge database. But can`t help me.

Yes I've got a TEAC MP-244 and I wanted to upgrade the firmware.
Tghe tool that was sent me by a TEAC support member worked; but it made my player to be a "STMP3600" and Windows XP wanted to have a driver.
I looked into the folder but the files there were corrupt.
The I downloaded the older firmware from the TEAC support website and - god thanks - the files in this packed folder worked. That means that the STMP3600 was recognized and a new device - in German: Player-Wiederherstellungskonsole (Englisgh sthg. like that: Device to recover the player?) - was created. Then I could upgrade the firmware successfully.
Maybe that's a help for you all guys.
    Kinds gegards,
    Marcel S.

Now all the restore program says is firm ware update error after a very short time and the ipod shows the folder icon
Im seriously p*ssed off cos this has come straight from apple directly!!!
Is this an ipod problem or has my computer got some form of ipod virus or anti ipod problem???
Help Please I don't want to wait another 2 weeks
    Dave

To save Mitch from alot of trouble trying to fix the error.
Go into 'My Computer', Right Click on any blank spot, Hit Properies. Click on the Hardware Tab, click the device Manager button, scroll down to Universial Serial Bus Controllers, click the plus. Do Any of them say 2.0 or Enchanced, if not, the firmware failure might be related to USB 1.1 .
If it does say Enchanced or 2.0 make sure the ipod is plugged into the back.
Firmware Failure Diskwrite Error(maybe a Update in there), is a somewhat of a general error, Can be connection issue related to how its connected, or it could be a problem with the iPods hard drive.
If still not working, time to test it on another PC(Or Mac) If you don't have one, go here:
    http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service.html
Type in your Zip Code, It will list the closest Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Providers.
