WET200 to WET200 Bridge, WEP Only?

Hi, first time poster
I've just purchased 2 WET200 wireless bridges for our organisation, with the intention of using them to create a wireless bridge between 2 buildings.I've followed this guide here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10047/products_qanda_item09186a0080a36471.shtml
...and I'm unable to configure any kind of security other than WEP. More disconcertingly, the foot of that guide states:
"Note: WET200 only supports WEP for the Wireless Security."
Surely this can't be the case? All the marketing blurb states clearly that the WET200 supports WPA2, and I would have thought WPA2 was a given for any wireless product sold today, especially a business grade product. Have I misunderstood what this device can do?
I am running firmware 2.0.3.2.

Hello
The Wet200 it supports wpa and wpa2 also. The main thing that you have to make sure when setting up the wireless bridge is make sure to match up the setting on each. Under wireless security there in the drop down you should see a list of securtiy option.
Hope this has been helpful

  • X3500 "RFC 2684 Bridged" and "Bridged mode only" at the same time

Is it possible to achive this? With some older modem i could configure one ethernet port for Bridged mode only, so that i could connect directly to Internet through that port with own ip given by my ISP, and at the same time have the modem handle NAT internet connection for WLAN and other ethernet ports.
I really need this feature, is it possible with Linksys X3500?

Hi, the router does not have that feature. You can only select one internet connection type at a time. You may need to check on business class modem/router; perhaps they do have that feature.

  • Can not get WET200 Bridge to wireless connect to EA6900 Router

    Hello,
I have a connectivity problem with my LinkSys WET200 Wireless-G business Ethernet Bridge
SN: MVP007800846. Any trouble shooting suggestions appreciated.
My system is Dell Vostro 1500 laptop, with Windows XP SP3
Basis problem: When I try to connect wireless to my NEW LynkSys EA6900 router; I receive the error “Limited or no connection” from the cable connection icon in the system tray.   I have tried several things ( restart computer, restart WET200) to make a valid connection with no success.
BACKGROUND and what I have completed:
I replaced my old LinkSys WRT router with a new LynkSys EA6900 router.  The EA6900 is up and running (after a few set up problems) and able to connect to both PC and MAC laptops and Android and Mac phones plus a couple of wireless printers.
To set up the WET200, I connected an Ethernet ( ENet) cable from the Wet200 PoE port to a unused port on the EA6900 router. I used my PC desktop Firefox browser to access the WET200 setup screens by entering the WET200 default IP address in the Firefox address bar.  I connected to the WET200, entered the default username and password and could see all the setup screens.
I selected the WIRELESS, Basic setup, did a sight survey and my EA6900 network name and security setting was present.  I entered the network name in the Basic Wireless setup and changed the WET200 security setting to match the network security setting.
I removed the ENet cable connecting the WET200 to the EA6900 router. Power recycled the WET200.  I then connected an ENet cable from Port 3 on the WET200 to the Enet cable connector on my PC laptop.
I then received the error “Limited or no connection” from the cable connection icon in the system tray.
    Thanks, krazykat1

    Hello krazykat
Need to ask a few questions, so I understand the network and the area this is in. How far apart are the router and WET? Did this work with your previous router, what kind was it? Normally we (Small Business) can not guarantee compatibly  with non small business equipment.
I have seen WDS work  between a WET 200 and other WET200's, also with some of the other older Small Business routers, like WRV200, and 210.
The main problem is most likely that the EA6900 is too new. I say that because the EA6900 is an AC router, the WET200 only does "G". One of the major components required for WDS to work is that Radio Chipsets match and well as channel, radio signal G to G, G/N to G/N, N to N.
I am afraid that there is too much age difference between your products.

  • WET200-WET200 Bridge not passing DHCP Requests

    Hi,
We have setup a bridge between two of our offices using two WET200's in adhoc mode.   Everything is connected fine and the signal strengh is good.   All traffic pass's over the bridge correctly but DHCP requsts/replys seem to be failing to traverse the bridge.    Our DHCP server is hosted on site A and the computers on site B fail to obtain thiers IP's from the dhcp over the bridge requiring us to use static IP's.
    Firmware is currently the latest.
Has anyone managed to resolve this issue?
    Thanks
    Nick

    Mr. Muir,
What version of firmware are you running on the wet200's?
If the latest, have you downloaded a fresh copy of the 2.0.3.2 and backed up your configs/ reflashed the firmware/ factory reset the device/ and reloaded the configuration.
I would try this on both devices and let us know if your still having the same issue.

  • Linksys WBP54G bridge WEP authentication and firmware

    Hello,
I'm working Linksys WBP54G bridges and am having problems in a couple areas. One is that when configuring WEP 128 for the bridge, the utility refuses to allow more than 16 characters being entered for the passphrase even though 128 bit WEP allows up to 26 characters. I'm trying to connect the bridge to an existing wireless network that uses 26 character passphrase. I know that WEP is outdated but reconfiguring the network is not an option unfortunately.
Is there a way to enter 26 characters or is there a update for the bridge setup utility?
This was already asked in an earlier thread, but I'll ask it too, the utility doesn't work in Vista or above, it only works for XP. Is there an update in the works?
    Appreciate it,
    Thank you
    Alex McLin

    Hi,
As initial remark, please allow me to question the usage of WEP as it is the weakest security method and not recomended if you really want to secure your network.
Regarding the configuration itself, it would really help a bit more if you could show the full config.
For the part shared, i noticed that you are using 128bit key, however please keep in mind that for the creation of a 128-bit WEP link, Cisco products only interact       with other Cisco products, so if your PC does not have a cisco card it may not connect.
As in everything i would start by the basic:
    - configure no security method -> does the client associate fine and gets IP address?
    - If yes, move to the security settings -> try with a 40 bit key -> does it work and the PC gets IP address?
If you decide to go for a better security setting like WPA or WPA2, you can find here usefull examples:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/ps6521/prod_configuration_examples_list.html.

  • 350 Bridge WEP Security

I have a 350 Bridge to Bridge configuration.
    Root Bridge & Non-Root Bridge W/O Clients
I want the communication between these (2)
    bridges to be secure.
    How do I configure WEP?

Here is where I would suggest starting
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/wireless/airo_350/350brdgs/brscg/index.htm for wireless bridge configurations
to set up wep look under security setup section
best of luck It should be pretty straight forward
    PS
make sure you have bridge's set to root without clients and non-root without clients if only using wep in a point to point

  • In Bridge CS4 only icons

In bridge SC4 I cannot see images in Raw or Dng. Bridge only shows icons. However I can open them and convert them to tif's and then they are visible in bridge
    Something wrong in Bridge??

    Thanks for your thoughts Jim,
After trying everything I gave up and moved to Lightroom which works fine and shows me the pictures
I would have preferred PS with Bridge but alas it won't
May be with a new iMac and CS5, Bridge will work again? Hopefully

  • Filter in adobe bridge to only select Raw files for DNG conversion

Here's my problem - I have a new DMC TZ70 camera and Lightroom 5.7 doesn't recognise the .RW2 files. I would need to buy LR6! Perhaps later.
So I thought I will import via bridge and convert to DNG.
So I open bridge and select the camera - fine - BUT there are files for the Raw images, the same number of JPEGs and some .bdm, .TDT etc files. (e.g. 3 raw + 7 others).
I can set up a filter to view only the Raw files when I see what files are there in the card folder in Bridge but when I select "get photos from camera" I can either select them all OR deselect and then I need to MANUALLY select the raw files. There doesn't seem to be a way of setting up a filter in the Downloader screen so that Bridge only selects the Raw files for conversion.
If I let it select all, Bridge converts the RW2 files to DNG but also brings in the jpgs and other files. I can delete these afterwards but this seems an inefficient way to do it.
Is there any way to manually select the raw files in the photo downloader screen?
    Advice please, thanks, Mel

Not sure I follow completely, Mel, but Bridge allows you  to View > Sort > Type... which would allow you, after sorting, to click on the first image with a specific extension, then hold down the Shift key to select the last in  the series and  handle them independent of the other files presented.

  • IMac & Snow Leopard - Airport internet sharing: WEP only?

Hello guys, happy owner of a 24 inche iMac.
Found out I can turn my iMac into a wireless access point by enabling airport internet sharing (system preferences > Sharing > Internet). That's nice because in my setup that would be better than paying for a wireless router and having even more cables and ac adapters cluttering up the place.
But, the airport settings for internet sharing only allows for WEP. No WPA??? That's a bit surprising, and a bit disappointing. I'd rather leave this sharing enabled all the time and I'm not thrilled about using WEP (everybody says it's pretty unsafe)like that.
Is there a way around that?

I a in a similar situation. I am sharing my cable/ethernet connection with a powerbook & an iphone quite happily. But my niece's pc will not connect. It insists on WPA, stating that the WEP is not secure enough, yet it quite happily connects if I remove the pass key altogether.
    Can anyone help?
The pc does suggest performing a manual connection but I cannot find the details (ip address etc) in my iMac

  • Bridge tables only direct connected to fact table?

I have a dimension BOOKS, and I have to model N:N between BOOKS and their authors. I used a bridge table (checked as it in BI Admin) so my join schema is:
    FACT TABLE - BOOKS - BRIDGE_BOOK_AUTHOR - AUTHORS
I created a BOOK dimension with 2 levels, author and book, but when I go to Answers and try the query:
    SQL Issued: SELECT AUTHORS.AUTHOR saw_0, FACT_TABLE.MEASURE saw_1 FROM SubjectAREA ORDER BY saw_0
    I get the error:
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 14026] Unable to navigate requested expression: ARCMUL_AUTORE.AUTORE. Please fix the metadata consistency warnings. (HY000)
In his blog: http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/obiee_bridge_table gerardnico says "I was obligated to made only one logical table of the tables Dimension table 1 and Bridge table by using eht join property of the Logical Table Source because a bridge table in OBIEE must be directly connected to the fact table."
    Is it right?
I also tried his trick but it doesn't work...

    For me, it's true ;-)
An easiest other way to model a many-to-many is to use the join property of the logical table :

  • When I click a RAW file in Bridge CC, only a 40x60 px thumbnail appears in ACR.

I am having a problem opening RAW files by clicking on them in Bridge.  ACR launches but only a tiny 20x30px image appears in the main ACR editing screen.  In Lightroom, the same RAW files open correctly without any issues.

the fla file is the flash pro source file.  that's the file you should "open" in flash.  ie, click file>open and navigate to the fla that you want to edit.
when you "publish" a file from flash you create the final files that your end-user will utilize.  that file type can be a swf when you publish for the web.
xml files can be source files or they can, in some situations (when publishing for mobiles), be used by final files.
anyway, you should "open", not import (file>import), your source fla.  then test (control>test) to see if there are problems (like missing source files).

  • Bridged network only gets UDP broadcast traffic?

I've created a bridged network Mac OS X 10.8.5 using ifconfig and TUNTAP for OS X to bridge my wireless connection, en0, with a virtual interface, tap0, which I can use for guest VMs:
            $ sudo sysctl -w net.inet.ip.forwarding=1
            $ sudo sysctl -w net.link.ether.inet.proxyall=1
            $ sudo sysctl -w net.inet.ip.fw.enable=1
            $ sudo ifconfig bridge0 create
            $ sudo ifconfig bridge0 addm en0 addm tap0
            $ sudo ifconfig bridge0 up
            $ ifconfig
            en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
                      ether 28:cf:xx:xx:xx:xx
                      inet6 xxxx::xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx%en0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x4
                      inet 192.168.100.64 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.100.1
                      media: autoselect
                      status: active
            bridge0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
                      ether ac:de:xx:xx:xx:xx
                      Configuration:
                                priority 0 hellotime 0 fwddelay 0 maxage 0
                                ipfilter disabled flags 0x2
                      member: en0 flags=3<LEARNING,DISCOVER>
                               port 4 priority 0 path cost 0
                      member: tap0 flags=3<LEARNING,DISCOVER>
                               port 8 priority 0 path cost 0
            tap0: flags=8943<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,PROMISC,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
                      ether ca:3d:xx:xx:xx:xx
                      open (pid 88244)
I'm using this with QEMU and the guest VM never gets a DHCP lease. If I `tcpdump -i tap0`, I only see broadcast traffic. Shouldn't I see a mirror of everything on en0? (192.168.100.33, the host doing the broadcasting, is another unrelate, noisy server on my LAN.)
    Any ideas?

IGMP snooping may be enabled by default on the 6509. Disabling it may solve your problem.

  • WRTP54G (wireless router with phone hookup) with Panasonic network camera BL-C30A (WEP only)

    hi
I would like to use this wireless router with WEP so I can access the camera wirelessly (camera only does WEP encryption).
The camera should be the only device allowed to connect to this router wirelessly.
I can dedicate channel 11 so only this wireless router uses it
I know WEP can be cracked but I'm thinking maybe I can setup the router so it doesn't matter, i.e.,
so only the camera can be accessed through this particular router
    so my questions are:
    1. can I setup the router so only outgoing local LAN http requests are allowed?
    2. any other suggestions on router setup that will prevent access to my network?
(using MAC address filtering (for camera mac address only) is worth doing but I guess MAC address can be spoofed so not a complete solution)
    thanks,

    Did someone have any ideas?

  • "create network" - WEP only, no WPA option

    Hi,
I am trying to share my MP's internet access via ethernet to a network created by the internal airport card. In the process, I am trying to setup the airport network via the "create network" pulldown option. As, I like to use a WPA encrypted network, I was astonished to realise, that the only options were unprotected and 40b/128b WEP. Am I missing something? As far, I know, all the base stations are able to create, and airport cards are able to access, a WPA network. Why doesn't it seem possible to create WPA from the MP's internal card?
Any tips or clear yes/ no answers are appreciated.

Internet sharing via your aiport card only supports WEP. WPA is not yet implemented.
