WET54G locking up - requires reset / reboot
Hello all
We use (10) WET54Gs at separate locations to provide network connectivity to our copiers. All of the units are V2 with the latest updates. Each WET54G will lock up after random period of time, usually a few weeks, and then require a reset/reboot to reestablish communication.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Have any suggestions on a fix?
I would think this is a hardware of firmware problem since they have a perfect track record of 10 out of 10 units repeatedly locking up.
Thanks
Well i dont think all the 10 units of WET54G will have the same problem. May be you must try to check the settings of your wireless router, if required try to upgrade the firmware of your Router.

my txt message app constantly locks up requiring me to reboot the phone. Is there a solution for this ?
That's quite odd Rob8, but we can definitely get to the bottom of this. When did it start? Do you delete heavy and older threads? Please go to Settings>General>About. What is capacity? What's available?

I have a 2007 Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz macbook pro with Intel 320 160gb SSD installed, and 6GB of Patriot RAM. Machine was working perfectly under Snow Leopard, NO ISSUES AT ALL FOR MONTHS!
After installing Mountain Lion the computer frequently locks up, requiring a hard reset holding down the power button.
The lock ups occur about 10-90 seconds after waking the computer from sleep. Everything will appear normal, i can click through some appliations, start typing somewhere, reading an article, or start watch the ipad mini launch video on apple.com, doesn't matter. Then all of a sudden the computer is just completely locked up. Nothing on screen is working, the mouse isn't even moving the system is completely locked up, and does not recover even if left for several hours. I have checked the logs and there's no sign of a kernel panic.
I have tried creating a new blank user profile, reinstalling from the recovery partition, and the issue persists. I've basically stopped closing my computer when i can avoid it, and the rest of the time i have about a %50 chance that i'll be able to work when i open my computer instead of having to do a hard reset. With the 2007 macbookpro the optical bay was IDE. One of the upgrades i had made was an IDE to SATA adapter that held another sata hard drive in place of the optical drive(which had died). Even though this setup worked flawlessly under snow leopard, the IDE to SATA adapter seemed to be causing some issues with moutain lion when resuming from sleep. After removing the adapter and second hard drive, i have not had the computer lock up on me since.

Hello,
Looking to deploy iPad Airs and a few iPad minis as conference room wizards. We are testing the Apple Configurator and locking the device to single app via the "Lock to App" option in supervised mode.
We have them on constant power and the app auto-dims display afterhours on a schedule, so ongoing power is generally not going to be an issue.
My concern / problem is the behavior of the device if it is rebooted. I allowed the device to run out of power while in lock to app mode, and then powered it back on. When this happened, it did not return to the "lock to app" mode. What happens if the device is set to autoupdate IOS, and the IOS update requires a reboot? What happens if we loose power in our buidling for some time. It appears we will to have to bring each device back tethered to re-enter his mode.
We have 40 of these to setup, so it isnt a trivial question.
THank you!The identifier should be the same, it just doesn't show on the list. Configurator should probably be updated to recognize it as a stock app, but oh well. This will work: Choose "Other..." and then type in "com.apple.iBooks"

Why does Firefox require a reboot after uninstallation?
Basically, my problem was already asked here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/916857
But that thread is marked as "solved", when in fact this problem is nowhere near being solved, so I am asking it again in a new, "unsolved" thread.
In former times Firefox never needed a reboot, and it does not make any sense because no Firefox-related file should be in use at the time of uninstallation. (Forget about updating in my case; I am doing a clean uninstall, and Firefox insists in rebooting anyway.)
Windows reboots due to software uninstallations are generally only required in the following cases:
* If files that belong to Windows are being modified. I hope Firefox does no such thing...
* Part of the software being uninstalled is still running, so that its files are in use. However, I completely closed Firefox and even used the task manager to make sure no firefox-related processes were running.
Some applications (i.e. Adobe Reader) install fancy "Speed Launchers" that are loaded at boot time and stay resident in memory. Unless these processes are manually killed before uninstallation, they may also be the reason why a reboot is necessary. However, Firefox should not do such a thing.
To summarize it, the question is: '''Which part of Firefox is running during uninstallation so that removal of the corresponding files is required?
Generally, I consider this a very bad software behavior, one that I would expect from some commercial software producer who wants to install his speedlaunch or logging stuff on my computer, but not from a free project like this one.
Firefox Portable does not do this, easily proving that technically it is not necessary. Earlier versions of Firefox also refrained from doing such a thing.
A piece of software requesting a reboot without good reason is what I consider a bug.Aw, c'mon. Writing to the Windows registry never requires a reboot. This is ridiculous.
And Firefox did not need that bad behavior up to version 8 either. Why now?
This is not a Windows issue. You cannot alter files in Linux either if they are currently locked. The thing is that there is no sensible reason for any Firefox-related files to be locked at uninstallation time, which is why there should be no problem removing them.
I do not mean to rant, even though I am disappointed by this new behavior and would like to have it changed, but the least thing I really would like to know is exactly what is causing this. Why have the new versions of Firefox been programmed to require a reboot? Exactly which files need to be removed or changed that cannot be removed/changed during regular uninstallation, so that their removal/change needs to be scheduled for the next restart of Windows? -
Need remote lock and password reset
This question is in regards to this thread:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/499f83d0-36f8-4f29-a4ce-e32f76632c90/intunesccm-mobile-application-management?forum=microsoftintuneprod
-We currently have ConfigMgr 2012 R2 and want to start using Intune to support company owned iOS devices.
-We must have the ability to perform remote lock and password reset on our iOS devices.
-According to this link https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn600286.aspx this is not possible with ConfigMgr integration. So I assume this means I
should NOT integrate Intune with our ConfigMgr right now, correct? And according to the response referenced above, Microsoft plans on erasing this disparity in the future, so I guess I should just wait until then and use Intune standalone until
then? correct? But at some point it should be safe to do so, correct?
While I am not in this position, it appears that when you are setting up Intune with ConfigMgr you get to a point of no return where you "Set the Mobile Device Management Authority" and the prompt says this is permanent. For those that
have integrated ConfigMgr, does that mean they are stuck and have no option to change to using Intune only to get these features?
I setup ADFS/WAProxy for SSO for Intune. I can still use that without ConfigMgr integration right?
On a different note, is the on-premises connector for Exchange a requirement for Intune? I have seen several tutorial for installing Intune that do not mention this step.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/eb9618d2-dc90-48be-b921-8044b7e693ac#bkmk_EX_OPHi,
I guess the first question is really up to your company requirements and how long you can wait. as there are now communicated time of release of that feature it is hard to say if it is worth it.
Exchange connector in SCCM 2012, no, Exchnage on premise connector for Conditional Access in Intune, if you want to use that feature yes you need it but you can use Intune without it.
Yes, you can use ADFS/WAP for Intune standalone as well.

My MacBook Pro Core Duo from 2006 shuts down randomly requiring frequent reboots to the point I had to abandon doing any project or anything on this MacBook Pro. Same thing occurs with the iMac dual core from 2007. MacBook battery replaced. Is it internal battery for both, new logic board required, bad hard drive, or bad RAM?
Help.Run an Apple Hardware Test using the original installation disk that has the AHT instructions on it.
Try SMC and PRAM resets:

It is possible that you may need a new PRAM battery.

My new iPad air requires a reboot at least once a day, sometimes more . Is this normal?
That type of error could indicate a WiFi network problem. That type of error can usually be gotten around by simply turning off/on WiFi in the Control Panel or Settings. There may or may not be any problem with your iPad Air. It won't hurt to have it checked out. You could also test your iPad on some other WiFi networks to see if it has any problems there. If it doesn't you might want to take a closer look at your network.

What locks are required on a table when Oracle is processing an UPDATE
What locks are required on a table when Oracle is processing an

What locks are required on a table when Oracle is processing an
UPDATE statement?

Here is a relevant quote from the 'Lock Modes' section of the doc that Ed Stevens provided
>
Assume that a transaction uses a SELECT ... FOR UPDATE statement to select a single table row. The transaction acquires an exclusive row lock and a row share table lock. The row lock allows other sessions to modify any rows other than the locked row, while the table lock prevents sessions from altering the structure of the table. Thus, the database permits as many statements as possible to execute.

The above describes the locks when you, the user, tells Oracle to lock the row. -
Having issues with patches that require multiple reboots in a task sequence?
Are you guys having issues doing a build and capture or deployment, while including the recent patches ?
It looks like another patch is requiring multiple reboots which breaks the task sequence...
Long story short... the last time I created a .Wim file was in June (with ZTIWindowsUpdate) - it included all the patches as of June 2014. This image has been deployed since then with no problem. All the other monthly patches (07/08/09/10/11/12/01) can be
installed successfully through the deployment task sequence with no problem.
Then last week, I decided to create a new .Wim file to include all the patches as of January 2015. In my build and capture step, it exits because one of the updates requires multiple reboot. I checked on the following website and it has not been updated
since October 22nd : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2894518
Do any of you experiences issues with a WSUS that requires multiple reboot recently ?
Thanks! As mentioned, the MDT offline updates task will do it. Add it to your build and capture and it will do the work for you using the updates in an update package that you've previously created. Alternatively, use a stand-alone instance of MDT to create your
image (using a build and capture TS of course) -- this can then use a stand-alone instance of WSUS to install the updates into your image which you then import into ConfigMgr.

WRT160N Requires Regular Reboots
So I have a WRT160N firmware v3.0 wired connection to my PC, and at least once a day my connection speed drops from 2mbs down to almost dial up speeds at 60kps. Just unplugging the router then plugging it back in seems to fix it every time. I've contacted my service provider and they say there's no issue on their end, and since I don't get this problem when I plug the modem directly to the PC I agree with them. I've done a factory reset and that didn't help. I've gone through the FAQ and can't find anything useful in there. Has anyone experienced this before, or know of a possible solution?
bigsteve03 wrote:
Its not a double Nat issue. I have an Motorola SB5120 Cable Modem from Time Warner Cable.
The slowdown is on both the wired and wireless connections. I've done the factory reset/reboot thing in the past and it didn't fix the issue.
Make sure to update the firmware to the latest version. You can download it here http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT160N. Reset and reconfigure.

unable to install any apps..did reset, reboot, restore but nothing works
so you want to restore as new not from a back up and then try to download a application. the purpose for this is the fact that if you restore from a back you then your just putting the save soft ware back on your phone. and if soft ware is the issue then this step just got voided out. if that doesnt work or you did do that then it can be something hardware related and it can be replace through apple for free if your under the hardware warranty

Updates that require multiple reboots - any additions to KB2894518?
Hi there,
I have more than one cusotmer that deploy Software Updates as part of their BaC and OSD task sequences in SCCM. In these cases I make sure to exclude the updates listed in
KB2894518. In addition I am excluding KB2871690 and KS2920189 as mentioned in
this post by Nash Pherson over at myITforum.
Now I am suspecting that there are more updates requiring double reboots as the customers TS seems to be breaking after the installation of updates by way of a double reboot.
Do you know of any more updates that causes the TS to break?
Thanks,
TerjeYes, but I am not confident that any of the Aug. 12th updates is the culprit.
Make sure you have excluded all the updates listed in the posts I like to above. Watch the screen while the Task Sequence reboots your client after the SUP stage. When the client is booting, you will see "configuring updates" and then a "spontaneous" boot
outside of SCCMs control.
We are working on some systematic testing to narrows down which update(s) it might be, but that takes a fair amount of time. Hope to get to the bottom of it this week. -
Macbook Pro Retina freezes requiring manual reboot
Hello,
Starting a few days ago my notebook experiences severe freezes that
require manual reboot.
The system is a Macbook Pro Retina from 2013, with MacOSX 10.8.5.
I use it for both work (software devel, MSOffice, Latex, Skype) and
leisure (music, movies, browsing).
Apple software updates and most add-on software are up-to-date (with
the notable exception of MSOffice).
Starting a few days ago, my computer started freezing. By freeze I mean
that the user interface completely blocks. I can still move the mouse
pointer (smoothly), but clicking has no effects. The only way I found to exit
such freezes is through a shut down using the button.
Freezes seem to be associated with video. They always happen when I
try to use both Skype and a browser. They also happen sometimes when
watching video on video streaming sites different from YouTube.
Funny enough, when Skype freezes, the user interface and the video
blocks, but the sound still works in both directions.
It does not look like a hardware problem.
At first the symptoms reminded me of viruses (I do have a certain age,
so I remember) but now I'm less sure. It could be a software
incompatibility (I seem to remember that I have accepted an Apple software
update just a few days ago).
I would appreciate any help in understanding the problem and in solving
it.
Yours,
DumitruHello Link,
Thanks for your help. Here is the information you asked me to find.
Some additional information:
- Of the 4 reboots I can find in the log (I had more, they must have been overwritten),
3 show the same pattern as the one I pasted here. It ends with problems in
OpenGL.
- Both crashed I have on record are on VDCAssistant.
- I don't find shutdownstalls.
Regards,
Dumitru
