WET610N / Bryston BDP-1

I wish to control a Bryston Media player with a PC, a Liksys WET610 bridge, and a Linksys E2500 router.
The media player instructions shows only a  router > ethernet cable > player layout.
No streaming of music is planned, only accessing files already on the player hard drive.
Will the WET610N / E2500 meet my needs ?
Hope.

Yes it might help you .
Connect the WET610N with the Ethernet cable and run the Setup disc for WET610N .
Once it get configured disconnect it from the router and connect it to your player .
Then your player will work wireless .

  • Music Server Can't See External Drive Formatted for WIN with Disk Utility.

Is there any reason an external drive formatted for WIN (MS-DOS(FAT)/FAT32 or NTFS w/ NTFS-3G/MacFUSE) with Disk Utility would not work for intended purpose? I have a music server (Bryston BDP-1) that uses an attached USB drive for storage/playback of music and can only read FAT32 or NTFS formatted drives. I've tried both and neither is readable by the BDP-1, yet I have no problem reading/writing to the supplied 2GB Thumb Drive (FAT32), as well as another 2GB Thumb Drive (FAT32). Get Info shows; "FAT32" for all drives formatted as such.
Note: From what I'm told the BDP-1 uses a scaled down version of Linux for it's OS. Isn't that UNIX? Shouldn't it be compatible (Read/Write) with other platforms (i.e, Mac)? Bryston says the reason they use it because it's Open-Source. Does Linux only work FAT32 or NTFS?
I do have Fusion/XP, also access to WIN PC's, but I just hate to use it when I shouldn't have to. It makes no sense why the drive can't be read by the BDP-1 when formatted for WIN under OS X.
And there was one other issue, after the third try to format fro WIN the external drive suddenly began making faint clicking sounds instead of a spinning drive sound only when plugged into BDP-1 USB port. But it works fine when connected to iMac FW.
    HW Specs:
    Drive: G-Drive Mobile USB/FW 750GB

    Exchanged drive. Works now.

  • How to Check WET610N is working?

I called and spoke to a Cisco representative and they told me all I have to do is get a WET610N and WAP610N in order to get my wireless situation set up.
We currently have the E3000N (which everyone said was the strongest router, but doesn't even go 300ft) it is connected to our cable modem.
It sends out it's wireless signal, and the Cisco representative told me if I get the WET610N to act as a wireless bridge, and then the WAP610N to act as a wireless access point we should be able to extend the wireless range.
I've set up the WET610N and the WAP610N. It claimed that everything was working correctly, that the wireless bridge was set up, etc.
I created a second SSID and it appeared to work. Then we moved the WET610N and WAP610N to their location in order to extend the range and it stopped working!
I know for a fact we are not out of the wireless range of the E3000N as I am using it to post this. The second SSID coming from the WAP610N is broadcasting and the signal is strong, but when I try to connect it says it has limited internet access, or no access.
So is something wrong with the WET610N in receiving the signal? Or is something wrong with the WAP610N? How can I check if they are working? Do I have to reconnect them to the E3000N to check? Is there a surefire way to make sure it all works?

How you have configured WET and WAP? have you setup a static ip on them or it is configured as dynamic ip? If you have setup a static ip then on your computer open the command prompt window and ping the ip address of the bridge and check if you are getting replies, If you are getting replies then the bridge is configured properly, then you need to check the settings for your AP.

  • Wet610n connecting to netgear WDS setup

    Hey,
Been trying to get a wet610n to connect to the following setup:
netgear wndr3700 router: the router has bridging and repeating enabled with the mac addresses of the netgear wn802t repeater and the linksys wet610n bridge in its table.
The netgear wn802t will allow wireless client connections just fine, but we cannot get the wet610n to connect.  We could get it to connect to the wndr3700 router with the bridging and routing funciton disabled, but then the wn802t will not connect.
I've come to the conclusion that the linksys will not play well with the netgear devices in the mode that they need to be in for repeating.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

    If you set the Netgear Router in bridge mode then,the WET will not work because two bridge can not communicate wirelessly;

My Sony BDP-S780 Blu-ray player has Skype embedded a little while ago (and for no reason) Skype just stopped working and sits on a screen saying "Downloading contacts" whenever I try to sign-in.
    I've tried
    - Full factory reset
    - Changing region to US
    - Changing region to UK
    - Using different Skype accounts
All to no avail. Any ideas on what's going on here and more importantly what I do to fix it?

  • Streaming internet to TV using WET610N

I have a Linksys E4200 Router - (great!) I have hooked up a Linksys WET610N Bridge to my Sony BluRay and have a good connection.  (I have updated the Sony firmware so know it works)  Now, how can I configure this setup to allow me to stream movies and other content from the internet to the HDTV to which the BluRay is connected?
Linksys advertises the Bridge as a means to stream movies but I can't find how to get videos from the internet, or my Mac, to the TV.  Any ideas will be appreciated.

So first of all I would like to inform you that if you can upgrade the latest firmware on the Router which can be downloaded from the CISCO website ( homrsupport.cisco.com )
Once you done with the upgrading of the Router then reset the Router and Reconfigure it.....
As far as wireless is concern do the following settings:
For Channel Settings of 2.4 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
For Channel Settings of 5 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 40 or 161..
Then connect the configured WET610N with BluRay scan the network from the Router and try to connect it....
After doing these steps then  to stream movies and other content from the internet....

  • Problem connecting WET610N to Cisco AP1240AG

Strange problem:  I try to connect WET610N bridge  to our WIFI network using Cisco AP1240AG, it stops working and freezes (the power LED flashes blue and pink).  I have to hard reset the unit to get back into configuration web page.
But when I connect it to other "cheaper" AP (Linksys WAP54G or Cisco WAP200), it works perfectly.  I update the firmware to 1.0.05, try a lot of options on both AP or bridge: no use.   Both units use WEP encryption.  Any clue?  Thanks

Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series which has the standards of IEEE 802.11a/b/g where as WET610N Gaming and Video Adapter has 802.11a/b/g/n 2.4/5GHz Dual Band.
That means the only difference will be of signal strength which will be “G-Mode”.  For more information here is the link: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/wireless/ps5678/ps6521/prod_qas0900aecd8031c8dc.html

  • Connecting WAG320n to WRT610n using WET610n ethernet bridge

I have upgraded my network with a WAG320n Router/modem and have a WET610n (ethernet bridge) in my remote room.  Because the WET is only one port, I would like to connect my old WRT610n router to the bridge, but need to know the right settings and connection info.  The purpose is to use the additional ports and wireless from the remote location.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Problem solved and improved on
    Thanks Klatch,
The WAG320n is nice, but not simultaneous dual band, so I set it for 5Ghz.  I hard wired an accesspoint (WAP610n) to the router, set it for 2.4Ghz, and placed it about 3 meters apart from the Router.  This gave me better access on the second floor for all devices with either bands.  (I gave the access point it's own SSID to distinguish it).
To expand coverage to the first floor I installed the wireless N Ethernet Bridge (WET610N) on the fringe range of my routers output (still 4 bars).  The bridge is set to 5Ghz - because that's what the WAG320 is.  Then I connected the WRT610N router (which is simultaneous dual band) to the bridge.  You plug the bridge into a LAN port on the WRT610N, NOT the WAN port.  The WRT610 was programmed to 192.168.1.2, DHCP turned off, NAT disabled.  I have the other 3 WAN ports hard wired to devices (Playstation, Slingbox, Blue Ray Player).  All other first floor PC's are connected wirelessly via the 5GHZ or 2.4GHZ bands.  The first floor coverage is excellent.   I maintained different SSID's for each Router and the Access Point, to distinguish which router or band I want to connect to.
If linksys only made the WAG320 simultaneous dual band, it would provide the extended coverage to all older and newer devices!!    The whole world isn't wrapped around 5Ghz yet!  So..  If you want to extend and use another router as a repeater (wirelessly) you need a wireless Ethernet Bridge (or gaming adaptor) from the primary router and connect it to the secondary router.   Anything can be done with a little effort.  Thanks

  • BDP-S6200 - issues with Amazon Prime Instant Video

I recently purchased the BDP-S6200.  For the most part, it works great.  I was able to log into my Amazon Prime account to watch the Instant videos.  The problem I have is after I finish watching something, I can't do anything else.  Can't go back to the home screen, can't start play over again, etc...nothing.  I turn it off and it flashes "off" on the player and won't allow me to turn it back on.  I literally have to unplug the player each time to reset it.  I know there has to be an easier way or something I'm missing.  Any ideas?!

Its my understanding form the Sony techs-named -Charlie-Ulysses-who sounded like_Not Americans_That basically if the player will play a DVD movie all the way through we are out of luck. The warranty that came with it says Sony is only responsible for the hardware_not the software loaded on it. That sure seems strange when I buy a new Computer from HP the software is covered by warranty to ensure that the computer will function using all software loaded on it__They don't say if it will turn on but not load and use software as advertised its no longer their problem. When the BDP-S6200 works, it has great sound and picture BUT!---when the software that’s loaded on it (ALL THE SOFTWARE) when its shipped to me doesn't work and there is no recourse I feel Like SONY let me down.Especially when you spend an hour with a tech and he says expect an email in two or three days that has a shipping label that I can use to return it to be repaired or replaced and THAT never Happens.  I'M at the point in this losing game where I have accepted the fact that I purchased my very first SONY DUD product. CASE # E61111185  DATED APRIL 7 2015

I suppose the simplest solution, but you didn't say if possible, would be to simply move the wifi router closer to the BD player..
If not, then it will simply take whatever signal it receives and rebroadcast it. So say on a scale of 1-10. The repeater is picking up your wifi at a 4, it'll rebroadcast at a maximum speed of 4, but the repeater itself will be broadcasting at a 10.
I'm tired, so if that didn't make any sense, please, other peoples, chime in.

  • BDP-S5100 as a DNLA server to stream SACD to airplay speakers

Hi Folks,I know my BDP-S5100 acts as a DNLA client to render from different sources but I would like to stream CDs from the Sony to a DNLA renderer connected to my HIFI . Is this possible to do this and would it work with DSD content on SACDs? Thank you

As far as I know you can ALMOST do what your suggesting. You can turn on share music libraries over your network in itunes, and then you can bring up you powerbook library on your powermac, but I dont know how you could control it, that is except with the new screen control features coming in the new system! can you tell i'm excited?

  • WET610N Software Setup Exits in Windows Vista

Trying to install the software CD for WET610N.  Not getting past the "Start Setup" initial screen on the Setup Wizard.  After clicking in Start Setup a brief "Linksys" message box in blue appears then exits then nothing at all.  Got same behavior on a second Vista system.  Windows XP Professional PC got past that point on the install.  Is there a basic security setting in Vista thats messing up the install?   Earlier had no problems running the install for WRT610N from same Windows Vista systems.

If you are trying to configure you WET610N with the setup disk, you can exit from the setup and configure your WET610N manually.
Follow this setups to configure your WET610N with your Wireless Router :
Connect your WET610N to your Router with the Ethernet cable.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Once login to your Router setup page, now clik on the "Status" tab and below status tab you need to click on  the sub tab "Local Network" and below click on "DHCP Client Table" in this window you will find the IP address of your WET610N.
Now open IE and in the address bad type the IP address of WET610N, when prompted for the Username and Password,Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Once you login to the setup page of WET610N, match the wireless settings of your Router (SSID, Channel, Security) and click on Save Settings.
Now unplug the Ethernet cable from WET610N and the Power cable, Wait for 30 seconds and connect the Ethernet cable to your Device and Plug the power back to your WET610N. Now check if you are able to go online from your WET610N.

  • Create report to check what software were installed from which BDP

    Hi,
I need assistance to create a report that shows which software were installed from which BDP. How would one go about doing this?
    Thank you in advance

The best you can probably do is the opposite of your request. Specifically, using the IIS logs on the DP at the central location (assuming that's you topology), you can determine which systems are using the central DP which essentially also tells you which
ones are not using it (this assumes you are actually using a BITS enabled DP at the central location also). With BDPs in the mix, I don't think that there's any tracking whatsoever on the BDP itself because that essentially normal SMB traffic.
A better option is to get the network team involved although that probably won't be definitive either because the clients still need to traverse the WAN to communicate with the MP and WSUS instance.

  • WET610N Won't Connect to Airport Extreme WiFi

Hi all - really strange goings-on.
I have an Airport Extreme base station, configured using WPA2 Personal.
I am trying to setup my WET610N wireless bridge, but it will not connect to the wireless network created by my Airport Extreme.
I use the bridge's web interface to set the password and connect it to my network.  My SSID is not broadcast, so I type it in and select WPA2 Personal as the encryption type.  I have tried using both the 'AES' and 'AES and TKIP' selections on that security screen to no avail.
I have double-checked that the SSID and passphrase are correct and match my wireless network.  I have two cellphones and a Wii that all connect to this wireless network with no problems.
It *looks* like the WET610N is seeing the network, as I see an additional 'wireless client' popup in my Airport base station configuration screen for a few seconds before going away.  This is synchronized with the 'wifi' light on the front of the bridge staying on for about 5 seconds straight.
I have tried the reset button and started from scratch.  Same result.  Any specific configuration that I need to enable on my base station?  Other suggestions?  Thanks!!

Sorry, thought I answered you - it's on DHCP.  It should be automatically getting an IP, and it is.  That is how I can connect to the router's web page - 192.168.0.107 (or whatever the IP the device was given).
Do you think I would have better luck if I switched the device to a static IP?  Is the subnet mask always 255.255.0.0 when setting to a static IP?
