WGB attached to Mesh doesn't forward Ethernet broadcasts

Hello all,
We have a requirement for our WGB attached clients to receive regular broadcasts across the mesh.  Based on my current configuration this doesn't appear to be working.  I have no idea why this isn't working.
My mesh is based around 1552E Mesh Access Points, and a  5508 Controller running 7.0.220.0 software
The Work Group Bridges are Autonomous Cisco 1261 APs running 12.4(25d)JA1, attached to a Moxa L2 switch
To complicate matters, the AP and switch are in a network management VLAN (the same as the controller management interface), and the client device is in a seperate VLAN.
There are no problems with unicast traffic to and from the client device.  It is registered correctly on the controller against the right VLAN / controller interface.  I know the broadcasts are present in the VLAN on the LAN side, however they are not received by the client device.
I have enabled Ethernet Broadcast on the controller, in unicast mode (all multicast modes are default)
I have tried the Work group bridges in both infrastructure-client and normal client mode
Can anyone suggest any tests I can confirm to try and track the problem to either the controller or the WGB?
Thanks,
Michael

I am assuming you were referring to the Multicast Containment?  I have tried it int in-out and regular mode, to no avail.  I got the impression it was more dealing with bridged traffic between the MAPs themselves?
Would it matter that I am using a static interface (the management interface) for the WGB itself, and a dynamic interface for the end host?

I have to restart mail most times before it starts recieving or recognizes the pop server.
As I said a lot of recipients do not recieve my mails when there is an attachment or when I reply to their email.

If you have not done so, try exiting the Photo app (and maybe more apps if you have a lot open) from the Open Apps List and see if a discount/reconnect opens the app. If that does not work, try powering down the iPad and test. If it is still not working try a hard reset by pressing both Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time until the Apple graphic appears, ignoring the Slide to Power Off button.

  • E4200: Port forward to broadcast for WOL?

Some routers are able to forward to broadcast directly by sending a port to 192.168.1.255, other's I've been able to trick by forwarding to 192.168.1.254 and then editing the arp table with 192.168.1.254 <-> ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff. Is there any way I can edit the arp table of the E4200? Is there a way to telnet in or get a console connection?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

there is a way a lot more easier. they only locked de .255 adress out, not all broadcast adresses. as a home user i don't need 254 ip adresse because i don't have that amount of computers, so i just changed the subnet mask to 255.255.255.128. the new broadcast adress is .127 and that works perfect

  • Imac clock needs to be set and bluetooth doesn't remember ethernet connection

My Imac is less than 2 years old.  Upon startup, I am getting the error message "You computer's clock is set to a date before Jan 1, 2008.  This may cause some applications to behave erratically."  It also doesn't remember which ethernet connection it had last in the bluetooth menu.  I have to choose it everytime.  What's wrong with my mac?  Is it the battery?  If so, why is this happening now when I've only owned the machine (purchased brand new) less than 2 years?  Could it be something else?

I HAD this problem with my Power Mac G5. The "before date" was different and my date and time were correct in the menu bar! The message appeared on December 16, 2011 and on January 16, 2012. Then on January 21 I pressed the button to turn the g5 on. The light came on then went out. SILENCE.  I tried again but NOTHING. I didn't do the SMU thing as I assumed it was the power supply which I had allready replaced once (in about 2007). I hope it wasn't just a battery, because I had the hard drive put in a cradle and am about to gut the G5 so I can use that beautiful case for something else! Did you ever figure it out?

  • Help forwarded e-mail comes up as mime-attachements can't read the forward!

Help, I recieve forwarded e-mail from friends with content that comes up as a mime-attachment in iPhone's mail app. Is there a setting I can change to make the forwarded e-mail appear. It works under the Mac OS X mail app and looks fine. The forwarded e-mail are either text, url or photos. My Fiancé laughed at me and said I thought your $expensive$ phone can get e-mail. I'm using .mac and yahoo mail accounts.

Serves you right for getting a girlie phone... (joking)
Can you send yourself a message from your PC to test if it works? I have read several posts about the iPhone mail client having problems with certain types of encoding (like from AOL). If you can send youself a pic from your .mac account and have it work fine, then perhaps you can eliminate one variable - if all your emails from everywhere look bad, then you have another problem.

  • Attaching Gradient Mesh to Perspective Grid

    Is this possible?
I am using Adobe Illustrator CS5. I have created a gradient mesh brain and would like to place it on a perspective grid. When I select the gradient mesh and choose "Object", "Perspective", the option "Attach to Active Plane" is not select-able. (see screenshot)
How to I attach a gradient mesh object to a perspective grid? I have tried expanding, but the same problem exists.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you for your comment. I have changed the location of the widget to the bottom left now so you can see it in the screenshot.
As you can now see I have selected the right-most (orange) plane, yet the problem still exists. I can't select "Attach to Active Plane" from the Perspective menu. I have also tried dragging the mesh with the perspective selection tool, but nothing happens...

  • Mail v7.2 rule doesn't forward received emails

I am attempting to write a Mail rule to automatically forward all emails I receive from our HOA to my wife.  I am able to creat rules that correctly intercept emails from our HOA and move them to seperate mailboxes, but I am unable to forward emails either as a second step in a mail rule or as a stand alone rule.

This doesn't work for me.  I can get a rule to correctly identify a received email from a specified source, but I cannot get a rule to forward the email.  I have written test rules that moves an email to a specified mailbox so I know the correct identification of incoming emails  and the 2nd action is working, but when I then attempt to change the test rule so that the 2nd function forwards the email and that does not work.

  • Airport Extreme doesn't see ethernet ADSL router

I'm having a problem trying to connect my new Airport Extreme base station to a one port ethernet conexant adsl router. It simply doesn't see that the router exists.
The way I have it setup at the moment is the router distributes an IP address to the airport and the airport distrubutes IP addresses to wireless devices. At least that's what's supposed to happen.
I have an Airport Express connected to the router and that works fine. Connects no problem on its default settings. The Airport Extreme however doesn't connect with its default settings.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this problem? Is it possible the Airport Extreme just doesn't work? I've connected the Airport Extreme to my laptop via the WAN port to set it up and that worked Ok so as far as I can tell the WAN port works fine as does connecting wirelessly. The two just don't talk to each other.

    Try the following ...
    Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
o Power-off the ADSL modem, AEBSn, & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the ADSL modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
o Power-off the ADSL modem, AEBSn, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
o Power-on the ADSL modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)

  • How do I view & attach my contacts to a forwarded email

In the old .mac mail my adress book was always available to select who I wanted to send the forward to, but in the new version all I have is an empty box and i can not access my address book to select who i want to send the forward to. How do I view my address book to select who I want to send the message too?

In Mail, choose Address Panel from the Windows menu to get a 'mini' version of Address Book in its own window. Use the "To" or "CC" buttons in it to add selected recipients or groups to new or forwarded messages, or drag the items from the mini version to whatever field you want in the message window. (Dragging a contact or group into the body of the message creates a "vCard" attachment, a standard format you can use to send Address Book contact info to both Mac & Windows users.)
Or, if it isn't already enabled, choose "Automatically complete addresses" from Mail's "Composing" preference. When you begin typing the first few letters of a recipient's name in an address field, you get a drop down list of all the matches. Since it looks for any name match, you could select from John Smith, Bill Johnson, Josie James, or Jane Jones by typing just "Jo" & pausing briefly for the list to appear.

  • Hard drive attached to xserver doesn't show up on the network.

I have an xserver on 10.5.8. Attached to it is a datatale box with 4 internal Hard drives. 2 hard drives are for storage, and 2 are for mirrored backup. The 2 hard drives for storage need to be accessable on the network, but one of them is not showing up.
At the moment I am moving the problem hard drive to attach directly to a work station computer when I need to access it, and back to the server when it needs backing up.
How can I get the hard drive to show up on the networked computers, when attached to the server? This is a problem that we have been coping with, but been unable to solve for some time.
Any advice will be much appreciated.

Not much in your post to go by...
In general, just because a device it attached to the server that doesn't automatically make it available to clients. You have to identify the volume(s) to share over the network via the Server admin apps.
However, since one volume works and another doesn't, I kind of assume you know this, and have done it for one, which begs the question of why you haven't done it for the other.
The other missing data is how you're trying to access the volumes... what protocol are you using from the client? AFP? FTP? NFS? something else? That can also make a difference.

  • IMAP. Two Leopard Macs. 1st Mac sees file attachment 2nd Mac doesn't

I use two Mac computers both on 10.5.2, each running Apple Mail 3.2 to access Gmail's IMAP.
Worked well for ages, but recently, in one computer, I sent an email with a very large 3MB file attachment, and then transferred it to a folder. That was then reflected in Gmail's IMAP interface. Hence, as far as Gmail is concerned, the file attachment and email are there.
But when I used the 2nd Mac to download the same email, the email is there, but no file attachment.
When I open the particular email, there's an error message at the top of the email:
    Apple-Mail-9-1026228142
    Content-Type: text/plan; charset=WINDOWS-1252; format=flowed; delsp=yes
    Content- Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
    I've never seen that before.
Also, in the 2nd Mac, in Apple Mail, there is no paper clip icon that is usually associated with a file attachment.
Even stranger: A few days later, I initially used the 2nd Mac to download an email with a file attachment. So the email and file attachment are on the 2nd Mac. I verify that the email+file attachment are on Gmail's IMAP web interface.
The strange thing, however, is that the 1st Mac now only seems the same email, but no file attachment.
It almost seems as if whichever Mac I first use (either the 1st or 2nd Mac) to download an email with file attachment, that initial Mac sees the attachment. But subsequently, when the other of the Macs downloads the same attachment, it does not have the attachment.
As said, Gmail's webmail IMAP indicates the attachment is there.
    Any ideas?

I figured it out. I had been connecting to my router with Ethernet AND Airport (both were turned on in my Network preferences, and both had a green-light status of 'connected'). Don't know why that would have affected it, but when I turned OFF the airport connection everything was instantaneously corrected.

  • New MBP migration assistant doesn't offer ethernet nor WiFi options!!!???

I've read many places that we can now transfer the data from the old Mac (if both are OS X, Leopard), even if we don't have Firewire cable... Using either Ethernet cable or through WiFi (maybe slower, but hey, if that's all we have!).
I wanted to use Migration assistant for the first time, and Ethernet cable too... for the first time in switching computers, I wouldn't have to wait an eternity, and I wouldn't have to painstainkingly go through all my files and lose some along the way...
Except when I tried to follow the steps, the only option to me was to connect the computers with Firewire!!!
In the menu, it said I could connect them using Ethernet or WiFi too, but on the next page, it said I had to connect them with FireWire, and if I wasn't doing that, to hit "return" (in other words, to forget about it).
The only other options, then, were to transfer from another disk, a partition or Time Machine (also offered but not relevant, transfering TO another machine).
I was hoping I had missed something and the Ethernet and WiFi options could only be done AFTER original setup, so I did it and opened the app... which was the same.
I'm now trying to transfer the data using Time Machine and my latest backup, hoping it was really complete and will do the job.
And I have to do it WiFi.
Makes me real mad that an option that so many talk about and rave about, that is even talked about in the "more info" portion of the menu window doesn't truly exists!
...And yeah, both computers were plugged in and running, and the WiFi option wasn't more offered after the network was up and running.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!
After a couple hours of trying with Time Machine backup in WiFi, my MBP went to sleep (hadn't thought about it and no message to prevent me), and it bugged... So I could try your help and IT WORKED!!!
    YESSSS!
BUT, I had to look everywhere for an answer to another problem, since I didn't know how to access my files... 'cause since I couldn't access the ethernet option on the first setup screen, I had to create a new user account and didn't know I had to login under that account to see all my files.
Which makes me think I better go put THAT account as admin right now!
Now everything seems perfect, just gotta check it out before cleaning out old MB.
Still, I can't see why they don't make it all clear : Ethernet and Wifi as easy to select as Firewire (why a small button in the corner? Why not there -I sure as **** didn't see it and I looked hard and long) in the setup screen?
And why not put anything about user accounts in the manual or online how-to's?
    So thanks again!

  • Satellite A100 PSAA5A Windows doesn't recognise ethernet controller

    Hi,
I'm having an issue with an A100 PSAA5A-01H00T running Win XP sp2.
Windows doesn't recognise an ethernet controller, hence the wireless NIC is not working, although the wired connection is.
I've tried installing the latest WLAN drivers from the support site (both of them), to no avail. Windows is insisting the appropriate drivers are not installed.
I suspect a hardware problem, and have the user on an external wireless NIC, but I'd appreciate any insight you guys can provide.
    Thanks.

    Hi mate
What Ethernet controller is not recognized? WLan or LAN?
Do you have some unknown devices in the device manager?
If yes, then a essential driver is missing and therefore the controller is not recognize properly.
You dont know what Wlan or LAN chip you have and what driver is necessary?
    Check this:
How to identify an unknown device (e.g. Wireless LAN module)?
