What a basis admin can help with GRC except install/upgrade?

Our basis team installs and upgrades GRC.
However when coming to the support for GRC, we are not sure where to draw the border line between
basis team and security team.
What is the responsibility of basis team in GRC area?
Thanks  for your help.

Hi Jennifer,
There is no real clear cut answer for this! Where do you draw the line for the other ERP systems?
It really depends on your own support structure and the skills of the individuals. I would ask your Application Support Mgr to confirm / define the remit with those involved.
Having said that, I would suggest that the technical landscape management and connectors would lend itself to the basis / netweaver analysts role. You may also want them to deal with the assignment of the webservices and the connectivity of the components to each other.
The functional configuration would tend to lend itself to the security team though as I expect that they would be more business focussed and be able to design the way in which the tools should be used by the business.
I hope this helps?

    Please help. Thanks a lot!!

    Hi Christy,
There are a few bits of PLM config. which can require Basis assistance due to quirks such as requiring post-processing after a transport has been applied. An example of this that springs to mind is costing sheet configuration for adding overheads to order costs.

  • What a basis admin can do for CRM2007/7.0?

    Hi, good morning,
I have good experience at SM7.0 basis.
Now I am assigned to support CRM2007/7.0 as a basis admin who has NO any coding experience.
Could you tell me besides install/patch/upgrade, what  CRM integration or configuration I can do ? Or in other
words, what is the CRM basis area?
    Thanks!

Well, that depends....You will have to apply SAP Notes, some will be manual and some will be direct. You will also provide PFCG roles to the Users and there are more activities as you get along.

  • What a basis admin can do for CAF  and GP?

Please help share you experience because we are going to start introduce CAF  and GP.
    Thanks!

    Hi Linda,
after installing the java stack of netweaver, the CAF and GP functionality is quite functional as to letting developers start creating CAF(core and gp) applications. In my experience what I can tell is a very usefull tool for Java-based developments and you could start installing and configuring is the Sap Netweaver Development Infrastructure.
Once CAF proyects start, it will naturally raise the need of new configurations according to the client specifications, for example eventually the basis guys will have to configure:

This is totally new to us.
Could you share your experience about how a basis admin can help with this
    AUTO-ID project?
    Thanks!

    Hi Jennifer,
The basis team in connection with RFID or Auto ID can be involved in the following ways:
    1) Installing NW04s. Installing AIN (ABAP and Java stack)
    2) Upgrages
    3) IF Event Management and OER involved in your landscape you will also need to install the same.
RFID Technical Consultant documents are also availalbe on SAP Service market place which will let you know the roadmap.

  • Anybody can help with this SQL?

The table is simple, only 2 columns:
    create table personpay(
    id integer primary key,
    pay number(8,2) not null);
So the original talbe looks like this:
    ID PAY
    1 800
    2 400
    3 1200
    4 500
    5 600
    6 1900
The requirement is to use one single query(no pl/sql) to show something lile the following, in other words, for each ID, the pay is the sum of all before itself and itself. So the query result looks like this:
    ID PAY
    1 800
    2 1200
    3 2400
    4 2900
    5 3500
    6 5400
Again, just use one sql. No pl/sql. Anybody can help with this? I really appreciate that.
    thanks,

Eh, people are so "analytically minded" that can't even notice a simple join?
    Counting Ordered Rows
Let’s start with a basic counting problem. Suppose we are given a list of integers, for example:
    x
    2
    3
    4
    6
    9
and want to enumerate all of them sequentially like this:
    x      #
    2      1
    3      2
    4      3
    6      4
    9      5
Enumerating rows in the increasing order is the same as counting how many rows precede a given row.
SQL enjoys success unparalleled by any rival query language. Not the last reason for such popularity might be credited to its proximity to English . Let examine the informal idea
Enumerating rows in increasing order is counting how many rows precede a given row.
carefully. Perhaps the most important is that we referred to the rows in the source table twice: first, to a given row, second, to a preceding row. Therefore, we need to join our number list with itself (fig 1.1).
    Cartesian Product
Surprisingly, not many basic SQL tutorials, which are so abundant on the web today, mention Cartesian product. Cartesian product is a join operator with no join condition
    select A.*, B.* from A, B
Figure 1.1: Cartesian product of the set A = {2,3,4,6,9} by itself. Counting all the elements x that are no greater than y produces the sequence number of y in the set A.
Carrying over this idea into formal SQL query is straightforward. As it is our first query in this book, let’s do it step by step. The Cartesian product itself is
    select t.x x, tt.x y
    from T t, T tt
Next, the triangle area below the main diagonal is
    select t.x x, tt.x y
    from T t, T tt
    where tt.x <= t.x
Finally, we need only one column – t.x – which we group the previous result by and count
    select t.x, count(*) seqNum
    from T t, T tt
    where tt.x <= t.x
    group by t.x
What if we modify the problem slightly and ask for a list of pairs where each number is coupled with its predecessor?
    x      predecessor
    2
    3      2
    4      3
    6      4
    9      6
Let me provide a typical mathematician’s answer, first -- it is remarkable in a certain way. Given that we already know how to number list elements successively, it might be tempted to reduce the current problem to the previous one:
Enumerate all the numbers in the increasing order and match each sequence number seq# with predecessor seq#-1. Next!
This attitude is, undoubtedly, the most economical way of thinking, although not necessarily producing the most efficient SQL. Therefore, let’s revisit our original approach, as illustrated on fig 1.2.
Figure 1.2: Cartesian product of the set A = {2,3,4,6,9} by itself. The predecessor of y is the maximal number in a set of x that are less than y. There is no predecessor for y = 2.
This translates into the following SQL query
    select t.x, max(tt.x) predecessor
    from T t, T tt
    where tt.x < t.x
    group by t.x
Both solutions are expressed in standard SQL leveraging join and grouping with aggregation. Alternatively, instead of joining and grouping why don’t we calculate the count or max just in place as a correlated scalar subquery:
    select t.x,
    (select count(*) from T tt where tt.x <= t.x) seq#
    from T t
    group by t.x
The subquery always returns a single value; this is why it is called scalar. The tt.x <= t.x predicate connects it to the outer query; this is why it is called correlated. Arguably, leveraging correlated scalar subqueries is one the most intuitive techniques to write SQL queries.
How about counting rows that are not necessarily distinct? This is where our method breaks. It is challenging to distinguish duplicate rows by purely logical means, so that various less “pure” counting methods were devised. They all, however, require extending the SQL syntactically, which was the beginning of slipping along the ever increasing language complexity slope.
Here is how analytic SQL extension counts rows
    select x, rank() over(order by x) seq# from T; -- first problem
    select x, lag() over(order by x) seq# from T; -- second problem
Many people suggest that it’s not only more efficient, but more intuitive. The idea that “analytics rocks” can be challenged in many ways. The syntactic clarity has its cost: SQL programmer has to remember (or, at least, lookup) the list of analytic functions. The performance argument is not evident, since non-analytical queries are simpler construction from optimizer perspective. A shorter list of physical execution operators implies fewer query transformation rules, and less dramatic combinatorial explosion of the optimizer search space.
It might even be argued that the syntax could be better. The partition by and order by clauses have similar functionality to the group by and order by clauses in the main query block. Yet one name was reused, and the other had been chosen to have a new name. Unlike other scalar expressions, which can be placed anywhere in SQL query where scalar values are accepted, the analytics clause lives in the scope of the select clause only. I have never been able to suppress an impression that analytic extension could be designed in more natural way.

  • Hi gurus what is table control can explin with example

hi gurus what is table control can explin with example

    TABLE CONTROL
These are the screen elements used to display tabular data they can be called
as screen tables( like STEP LOOP).To use table control we have to create it on the screen using SCREEN PAINTER(SE51) and declare a control variable of TYPE TABLEVIEW using CONTROLS statement in the ABAP program. We have to use LOOP .. ENDLOOP statement in both PBO and PAI with or without AT int_table parameter. IF AT int_table parameter is not used than we have to place a MODULE call between the LOOP...ENDLOOP statement to fill the screen table rows from the ABAP program in PBO and program our own scrolling functions
    using OK_CODE field.
Having a parallel loop(at screen table rows & int table rows) by using parameter
AT int_table makes the ABAP code simple.
A special structure of type CXTAB_CONTROL is used to set/get various
attributes of table control at runtime like CURRENT_LINE ,TOP_LINE.
    ABAP declaration
CONTROLS: tab_con TYPE TABLEVIEW USING SCREEN nnnn
Here tab_con is the same name we used in screen for the table control.
This ABAP statement will declare a control variable that will be used to access
the table control , and set it's various attributes like number of fixed columns(tab_con-FIXED_COLS) ,total number of records it will display(tab_con-LINES).It is of type CXTAB_CONTROL and is a deep structure(structure containing structures).
REFRESH CONTROL tab_con FROM SCREEN nnnn
This ABAP statement will initialize the table control on the screen nnnn to its initial values.
    PBO processingI
n PBO we have to use the screen LOOP ...ENDLOOP statement , with or without
    intenal table.
    LOOP WITH CONTROL tab_con.
    MODULE fill_tab_con.
    ENDLOOP.
Here a module should be called between the loop endloop statement to transfer
data from th ABAP program to the screen table through a structure. This module
should use the CURRENT_LINE attribute of the table control variable to get the
current screen table record index to read the data from the internal table into a work area.
    e.g.
    READ TABLE int_table INDEX tab_con-CURRENT_LINE
The record read will be placed in the header line of the internal table and will be available to the similarly named screen fields or if these are different it can be written explicitly. e.g.
    screen_field_name = int_table-field_name
LOOP AT int_table INTO workarea WITH CONTROL tab_con CURSOR i FROM
    n1 TO n2.
    ENDLOOP.
Here the module call is not required to fill the screen table. The CURSOR parameter is a integer of type I indicating which absolute internal table line
should be the first to display on the table control .FROM n1 TO n2 can be used
to restrict the starting line and ending line number of the internal table , they are of type SY-TABIX.
In both cases before the LOOP statement a module should be called which
is generally for setting of status ,in which we should fill the LINES attribute
(tab_con-LINES ) of the control with the total number of internal table records, doing this ensures correct and automatic scrolling.
The ABAP statement DESCRIBE TABLE int_table LINES lines can be used
to get the total lines in an int table.
    PAI Processing
We have to use LOOP ... ENDLOOP in PAI so that data can transfer fro table control to ABAP program. If we want to write changes to the data we should
call a module between the LOOP ... ENDLOOP. The MODULE call to process user commands (SY-UCOM) should be called after the ENDLOOP statement.
    e.g.
    PROCESS AFTER INPUT
    MODULE mod AT EXIT-COMMAND.
LOOP AT itab_table or LOOP "depending on whether we are using AT int_table
    MODULE modify_int_table.
    ENDLOOP.
    MODULE user_command.
In the MODULE call modify_int_table we can use
MODIFY int_table FROM workarea INDEX tab_con-CURRENT_LINE
    or we can use
    int_table-field_name = screen_field_name.
