What about an eyedropper to create a base color

Chris...
I don't know how hard coded kuler is, but what would be nice
is to have the eyedropper tool where a color in an image could be
sampled as the base color and then the color wheel adjusted to pick
compliments, etc. of that base color. Also, some way to mix 2
colors similar to InDesign's Mixed Ink Groups to generate a new
color/s and then create new swatches off of the combined base
color...
Another nice feature would be to have some sort of color
blindness shifter for color swatches as this is going to become one
hot topic in Web Design

InDesign's Mixed Ink Swatches really opens my students' eyes
to the potential of designing with just 2 spot colors (which
happens a lot in graphic design). However, finding a great mix
color and then sorting through all of the swatches for accents and
secondary colors can be overwhelming for beginning design students.
What would be great is to mix inks, select a base color and then
use the mixed base color to generate the accent and secondary
colors using kuler and the rest of the mixed ink swatches.
Another idea along the same lines would be to generate "color
swatches from image" along the lines of Corel Painter and allow
people to save that out as a Swatch Exchange Palette.
Ooops...sorry about that! Chris ranks with the ubergods on
the Photoshop Forum and has saved my bacon on more than one
occasion...
The kuler team is Sami Iwata, Community Manager, Tim
Strickland, Senior Computer Scientist and myself, Group Manager and
whole lot of friends.
I am really looking forward to using this tool both in Color
Theory and in my Production Design and Electronic Prepress classes.
My faculty are also evaluating it for use in Flash and Dreamweaver.
Thank you so much for a very "kule" tool!

    Hi,
We deleted some of the users and now are unable to see their shopping carts in monitor SC application, I researched this topic and found no better solution!, I am sure many of you would have had this issue, appreciate your feedback on this topic discussing if it is possible at first place to access these shopping carts.

I have a acrobat reader, can I import text delimited data format to a PDF Form so that it can auto fill into forms that was created? If not, what about FDF and XML data

Yes, you can do all of that via Tools - Forms - More Form Options - Import Data, if you have Acrobat.
If you only have the free Reader then you can still do it, but it requires a script.

  • What about photos that *don't* belong to an event?

i love the new "events," but what about photos that are not part of an event?
for example, one day in 2001, i imported a bunch of photos from around the net to use as desktop pictures. but those photos don't exactly comprise an "event." that same day, my sister sent me one photo of her newborn baby. now, iphoto's calling all of that day's photos an event. although i love the concept of events, it bugs me to call certain groupings "events," when that's not what they are.
i can't seem to find a way to delete an event. is it mandatory that each photo belong to an event? if events have truly replaced "rolls," i imagine every photo must therefore belong to one.
i already have albums entitled "family" and "desktop pictures," so those photos are already organized elsewhere. but how are you guys handling random photos that don't exactly qualify to be called "events"? as i type, it occurs to me to create an event called "non-events." but i'd still love to hear how others are dealing with this.

An Event looks to be just another name for a Roll. And in all previous versions of iPhoto all photos had to belong to a Roll, whether you liked it or not, either named by your convention or by iPhoto's default.
I guess with the metaphor of film rolls fading quickly as digital cameras advance, a new moniker for the base catalog entry was necessary. Suits me fine as long as the equivalent functionality is preserved with new features a bonus worth the price of "upgrading".
I have not tried the switch to the new iLife iPhoto version yet (iMovie 8 is a HUGE step backwards so my caution meter is on FULL alert), as I have the same reservations. I have scrupulously kept Rolls organized by import date and require all that existing metadata be transferred perfectly.

You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

    No.
One of you create a new AppleID and one use the existing AppleID.
But you can still use the items in each iTunes library.
Create separate computer logins for each of you.
This will give you each your own data. Contacts, calendars, photos, etc. (and your own iTunes library).

  • What about iCal event tagging for better event organization ?

Actually, it is possible to create several calendars (e.g., Work, Personal, Kids, ...) to organize your events.
Then, you can choose to simultaneously view events of one or many calendars.
But what about a more flexible tagging mechanism ?
We would be able to multi-tag an event.
Then, we would be able to simultaneously view events that match some tags and not some other tags.
We would be able to create intelligent calendar views that simultaneously display events that match some tags and not some other tags.
Tagging is a feature provided today by iPhoto for photos.
Intelligent view based on a expression is a feature provided today by iTunes for musics.
It would be nice to generalize these concepts
Is there any plan to introduce event tagging in iCal ?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

This is what I think it means:
"Depending on whether you want the event type to be deactivated when its listeners have acknowledged receipt of the event, select either Upon Notification or Never."
I think deactivate the event means, it's not available anymore on the queue. You can ensure it doesn't stay on the queue after you catch it (Upon Notification), or you can catch it and then deactivate (or remove it from the queue) manually using your own service.
"For example, you might select Never if a service is handling the notification and any deactivation of the event type."
I think that what they mean here. If you select "Never" then, you catch the event, and you're responsible to deactivate it (remove it from the queue).

  • What resources are used for "create index" ?

In the context of creating an index on a heavily loaded table....
What Oracle resources are consumed>? Any caches or buffers? Sort files? Temp Tables?
(trying to speed up an index create)

Like any other read/write database activities, CREATE INDEX uses blocks in the buffer cache. If your table is large, I would recommend increase your buffer cache.
No temporary tables is used as far as I know. There are no sort files in Oracle. Temporary tablespace may be used because sorting is generally needed when creating an index, but I am not sure about that.
When creating a index, Oracle creates a temporary segment in your permanent tablespace: if the CREATE INDEX fails, the temporary segment is removed. If the CREATE INDEX succeeds, the temporary segment is made permanent.

I am getting ready to sell a Mac app and I want to know what the specs are to create a custom background for my Mac App?

  • What happens to my websites created in iWeb when iCloud replaces IWeb (Rumoured)?...

What happens to my websites created in iWeb when iCloud replaces IWeb as is rumoured... they will be lost?

To tell you te truth We should should've all expected this...
With no new updates to iWeb in a good couple of years, even though it's an amazing piece of software enjoyed by million. It upsets me no end to see apple continually doing this and what have they done exactly? Left goodness knows how many customers worried and uncertain about a product they love and rely on, I do anyway.
One of the main reasons I have a Mac isn't only the build quality and the OS, although that does have a fair amount to do with it. The main reason for me moving to Apple and investing in a machine all those years ago was iWeb, being a creative control freak, I love to be able to get out my Mac, open iWeb and in minutes create a new launch page for a new mix, upgrade some of my services a customers asked for, recreate any aspect of how I present myself to people at a click of a button... I know you can upload to FTP server but phooey, why damage a good thing.
This as annoyed me no end... so I'll not doubt I'll be taking it out on an Apple employee tomorrow when I take back my blown power pack for my MacBook pro, my third one in 8 months... I sign of the way apple is going?
PS as for iOS 5 ... Seriously underwhelmed, we've been given features 90% of which should have been launched in iOS3!.. Oh, although I can't handle windows anymore, have you see. The new Windows 8 layer? Watch out Apple, he's behind you

  • ICloud Drive, what about sharing contacts with my older iOS devices?

Hi folks, I have finally upgraded my Macbook Pro to Yosemite and my iPhone 5S to iOS 8 and Monday will be the promising iOS 8.1.
During the process I have been offered to also update my iCloud account to iCloud Drive.
Sounds cool and necessary to benefit from a few extra features however I still own and use a iPhone 3GS and another iPhone 4.
It's clear that with iCloud Drive I won't be able to share documents among those devices; I can live with that but what about my contacts, calendars and Safari bookmarks not to mention Photos and iTunes Match, would that be the end of it or would those later services still be shared among older and newer devices?
I can't see it clearly stated among iCloud Drive specs and now I am hesitating with the update..
    P

Hi randers4, your explanation convinced me and I have made the plunge and upgraded to iCloud Drive.
It works as you explained, all other services such as Safari Bookmarks, Reminders, Contacts and keep syncing data among them. Nice.
It will be interesting however, how custom folders and files, will share among different users.
Haven't found much documentation on that either but suspect the mechanism won't be as refined as in DropBox.
For instance: as far as I can see, I can't create/copy a link to one specific folder I have created but have to use either Mail, Messages, or one of the SocialMedia I have registered on the Mac.
But perhaps I should start a new topic on this
    Thanks and regards

  • WS endpoints restricition: What about java.util.Locale etc.?

We have some problems with the restrictions for WS endpoints.
Using SAPNW Developer Studio to create a web service including the virtual interface from a stateful session bean, we are not allowed to use usual types like java.util.Locale or java.util.Properties although they are serializable.
This is also decribed in the SAPNW DS Help:
"The following types are not allowed anywhere in the endpoint of a Web service:
    ·        Remote objects (EJBs)
    ·        Classes extending into another class and implementing an interface
    ·        Hashed table-like types
    ·        Classes/objects that cannot be serialized"
So what is the preferred solution for this issue?
Is there a way to use the serializable java.util.Locale type in a WS endpoint, or do we have to use its String representation?
What is the preferred solution for hash-table types like Properties? And what about Interface types like Map?
Maybe we just do not find the decisive documentation link?
    Thanks a lot,
    Dirk

  • What's the secret to creating realistic gold text?

I've been using Illustrator for years, but I'm relatively new to simulating gold effects. I'm currently designing a sign for a developer. Unfortunately, the budget doesn't allow us to use hand painted gold lettering so we'll need to create this using a wide format, high-resolution CMYK ink jet printer. I don't have too much trouble with creating gold logos and geometric shapes, but getting the type to look realistic is a little daunting.
So with that in mind, what's the secret to creating a realistic gold text? What's the best gradation angle to use. Should I mix angles for logo, backgrounds, and text or try to keep it all about the same?
    Thanks!

No such thing. All metals consist of 70% to 99% environment reflection blended with the absorbtion color, hence the trick to "realistic" metal shading is capturing the reflections and light, not working with arbitrary angles or whatever. It simply needs to follow the curvature of the text, that's the whole trick.

  • HT3258 what about final cut does not recognize mts file

what about final cut does not recognize mts file

If you have an AVCHD camcorder, you need to select one of the AVCHD Apple Intermediate Codec Easy Setups in FCE that matches how you shot the video in your camcorder.  (eg, AVCHD Apple Intermediate Codec 1920x1080i60 would be appropriate for camcorders produced for North America unless you selected some other video type in the camera's setup.)   After selecting the appropriate Easy Setup, create a new sequence then import the video from your camcorder.
If you only have the .mts files themselves (perhaps because you copied them to your hard drive without their entire surrounding AVCHD folder structure), that's another matter.  In that case you need Clipwrap or similar app to transcode the .mts files to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec before importing them into FCE.   You still need to have the correct easy setup in FCE.
It would help to know exactly what make/model camcorder you have, and what model Mac and versions of OS X and QuickTime.
