What about "Extend application" in 1.6?

Hi all.
Gents, may be I completely stupid,
but where is old pretty link "Extend application" in 1.6?
Some explanation. I need to extend my old application, written in 1.5.1 environment. To do this, I need to add new page and more, than one pairs "Report-Form" on this page.
But in 1.6 I found only "Add page" or "Add page with component", with "Add page with component" I could add only one report with form. But where is "Add component on existing page" functionality? In help system I found NEVER about this way to exten application.
I don't understand, how I can do this primitive thing, as add component on existing page.
Idea with manual building all additional pairs, with first creation report, then page with form, then manual linking - is bogus IMHO. Another idea - with downgrade back to 1.5.1 is no better.
May be, somebody flush child with water? Or I really stupid guy?
So, question of the day - how to add component (exactly "Report-Form" pair) onto existing page in new, cool and powerfool 1.6?

Once more penny:
What about group edit operations? In 1.5 (on Edit page) was link "Edit", for simple group editiong/resequencing. In 1.6 is absent. When I have more, than 10-12 items/buttons etc. on page and if I need change every item, I spend much time to do that individually.
Also will be better to have "copy" possibility for processes and computations. For me will be usable group copy. For example, if I need to copy some elements from one existing page to another: region, contains items and buttons, the single way to do that - copy every needful element one by one.

  • Data warehouse ETL - dropping all FK but what about extended properties? Do they need to be re-added

So Im setting up a SSIS package to refill the DB, drop/re-add the keys etc and I notice that there are extended properties added in the definition of the keys added to the fact table.  Do these needed to be added back EXACTLY as they are defined (when
viewing them in management studio via right-click > script key) ?
Im thinking they do as they mention the DSV, so Im guessing that not adding them back might mess up the DSV?

Lightning is a problem for you because it hooks into Thunderbird at a low level and you need a version compiled for the platform Thunderbird is running on. So you can't do the preferred solution, which is to put your whole profile in a shared folder and have both instances of Thunderbird reference the same profile. (Ditto for Enigmail). Lightning may become an integral part of Thunderbird in an upcoming release, at which point this limitation due to Lightning should disappear.
And if you can't use a shared profile, you can't set your Lightning, or your Address Book, to share a common set of files. Put another way, the linkage from Thunderbird to its address book files and calendar data is hard-coded, and not exposed where we can adjust it. :-(
The halfway house is to place your mail stores in a shared place, and use the Local Directory setting in each account's settings to connect to it. They don't need to be in the profile; what's more important in your case is that they are in a folder accessible to both operating systems.
Look in your profile; everything under Mail and ImapMail needs to be moved out to a shared folder. Note the entries in Thunderbird under Local Directory before you do this, and reconstruct those pathnames in Thunderbird, but adjusted to suit their new locations.
(You can see here that you need to make many adjustments, one per account, in each instance of Thunderbird, so it's a high-maintenance solution and this is why we don't recommend it when the alternative, moving the whole profile, is possible.)
I share address books and calendars between Thunderbirds on various computers (and my phone and tablet) by syncing to something in the cloud; Google Contacts and Google Calendar are my choices, using gContactSync and CalDav.
Having made the break myself some years ago, I'd recommend you break away from Windows. ;-)

  • Time Machine, Superdrive.   What about my applications? help please

So, I want to do a fresh install of SL because I have noticed a slight decrease in performance on my MPB since installing it. I have tried a number of things and maybe this will help.
My question is how do I backup my applications, including applications other than the standard mac applications, so they work after I wipe the HD? I have applications I have no idea where the CD keys are and I want to make sure I can use these afterwords.
From what I hear, superdrive is a good solution. Will it allow me to use the applications it backed up after wiping my HD?
Also, will wiping the HD possibly fix any issues I am having with the OS that could be effecting performance?

sorry, yes I meant superduper. It was late. haha.
Basically, I see the spinning wheel of death way more than I should. I have like 2 login items, hardly anything in my dock, repaired my start up disk, verified permissions, and hardly any clutter on my desktop.
I have the late 2009 MBP with 4 gigs of ram. I see people with the 2 gig version of what I have and their applications load faster.

  • What about other Application Server Integration?!

Is there any plan to get better (tighter) integration with other application servers. What if I want to replace oc4j with other to be my embeded J2EE container?

We already have suppor for easy deployment to other application servers in JDeveloper.
The only embedded server though is OC4J. I think a simple solution to what you want might be to use Ant to build/deploy/run your code.
We have good integration with Ant, and in 10.1.3 it is even better including an icon on the toolbar that will let you run your project's Ant task easily.

  • IPad Stolen - What About the Applications?

Well my IPad was stolen yesterday. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get ITunes to work on my laptop so I did not have a recent backup.
My question is what happens to all the apps I bought from the iTunes store? If I get another IPad, will they be re-installed to my new IPad?

You'll need to re-download all your apps - they won't be downloaded automatically - but you won't have to purchase them again as long as you go through the same iTunes Store account. See:

I found this on eBay, will it work on a Lombard, or Wallstreet, using OS9? Anybody using one?

Anybody use one of those extender antennas? Which ones would work?
      Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    sludgedragon,
The WiFi PC cards using the Orinoco chipset is the same chipset used in the original AirPort card (802.11b). According to Apple, if you are running OS 9.2.2, you can install AirPort 2.0.4 and have full compatibility.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120120
However, I cannot say the card you referenced from Enterasys with added features and updated firmware will still work with Apple's AirPort software. The ad does say it comes with a CD containing software for all OSes and also various versions of firmware.
It should work just fine on a Wallstreet or Lombard. There is also iOXperts wireless driver which supports it and many other cards.

  • Got a new hard drive for Snow Leopard, but what about all the applications?

    Hi,
Installing Snow Leopard revealed a faulty hard drive, but Genius Bar got me a new hard drive and installed Snow Leopard and the rest of the Mac Box Set for me.
I'm putting my computer back together, and I had all my files backed up on a Passport, but what do I do about the applications that I had? I could use a reinstallation of Office for Mac and Final Cut Express. Can I ask the companies directly?

More reason to back up your +*entire system,+* whether with Time Machine, a "clone" app like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, and/or some other way.
You should still retain the original discs, of course, but having a full system backup greatly reduces the chance you'll need them.
For info on Time Machine, you might want to review the Time Machine Tutorial
and perhaps browse Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).

  • What about security in adf faces application ?

It seem that the documentation has a little bit changed about security for adf faces application.
SRDemo J2EE sample application only implemented the security at the web container and may be for the session beans (don't remember) by using security-role and security-constraint in web.xml configuration file.
It seem that the documentation recommand now to implement adf security and didn't find anymore the reference to the standard j2ee security implementation.
We found also that the security constraints checked by the web container was sometimes ignored and the container didn't ask us to login before displaying a page.
Is ADF security a clear Oracle recommandation for ADF Faces application ?
What about j2ee security for this type of application (why it is not recommended to use it) ?

    Hi,
there is no single recommedation about security because security ideally is applied on several levels to implement security in depth. Container managed security with J2EE is a good option to secure page access and - if using EJB - to propagate the user identity for method level access control.
Using ADF Security, which is security added to the binding layer based on JAAS, a second layer of the security onion becomes available that allows you to define which user is allowed to perform which operation on an iterator or attribute binding. This goes beyond of what container managed security can do for you.
The thrid layer is business layer security and eventually database security.
For Oracle Open World we will have a developmengt track and one of the presentation I am giving with Ric Smith from our team is about end-to-end application security for ADF Faces, ADF, ADF BCor TopLink/EJB and the Oracle database.
The plan is to also write this up in a paper, but this would come late because of other priorities I have on my plate. So attending OOW probably is the best option for you to get the big picture

Not until the day that 10.8 is released will anyone know the details but it's doubtful you will have to uninstall Messages. Native Mac OS X applications that run on v10.7 shouldn't be a problem wtih 10.8 but again, we won't know until Mountain Lion is released.

Any web application can run on smart phone because you are accessing it from browser so no need for database or application server on your mobile
It is same as accessing any website on mobile

  • Questions about database application tables connector

    Hi all,
I need to manage with OIM several databases (each one with its custom tables).
Also, one of them will be my trusted target on the initial load of users. The structure of our tables is not similar to the included in the example.
The documentation explains how the OraAppX.xml could be modified but it doesn't speak about relations with "DBTable_nonTrusted.xml" and/or "DBTable_trusted.xml" For example, if I don't have a column called USR_COMM_LANG, could I replace this column name for another that I have in my database ? And what about the references on the "DBTable_nonTrusted.xml" file. Connector doc doesn't explain how references to that field (USR_COMM_LANG---xel_usr_comm_lang) are managed by the connector and if the normal working of the connector could be affected if the name of a variable is changed in the xml conf file.
It could be that adapters of this connector were hardcoded with the referece to xel_usr_comm_lang (???) .
The connector documentation includes a section titled "Adding Custom Database Columns for Provisioning and Reconciliation". The first impression reading this document is that it is possible to extend the predefined table rather than create and define a new structure of table.
Has anyone rebuilt the "DBTable_nonTrusted.xml", "DBTable_trusted.xml" and "OraAppX.xml" files changing all default variables in order to manage a customized table? .
    Many thanks in advance,
    Claudia

    Hi Claudia,
    1) Yes, you must replace the column names in the "column" tag on your XML file for the column names that you have in your database tables. Also, remember that you need to configure the other parameters (like data_type, data_typ_size, etc) according to your database table.
    2) The "xel_data_source" parameter is the attribute name that will be recognized by the OIM and they can be mapped to a form field (UD_DBAPP_XXXX) in your process definition in OIM Design Console.
    3) You can customize your Database Application Tables connector for provisioning as you wish, but some issues exists. In the Known Issues section of the documentation you can see that this connector doesn't work for more than two tables.
    4) To customize your Database Application Tables for Trusted Recon, there are other restrictions because OIM users have some required fields that must be filled to create a user successfully.
Hope that helps, and please let me know if you have more questions.
    Regards.

  • WS endpoints restricition: What about java.util.Locale etc.?

We have some problems with the restrictions for WS endpoints.
Using SAPNW Developer Studio to create a web service including the virtual interface from a stateful session bean, we are not allowed to use usual types like java.util.Locale or java.util.Properties although they are serializable.
This is also decribed in the SAPNW DS Help:
"The following types are not allowed anywhere in the endpoint of a Web service:
    ·        Remote objects (EJBs)
    ·        Classes extending into another class and implementing an interface
    ·        Hashed table-like types
    ·        Classes/objects that cannot be serialized"
So what is the preferred solution for this issue?
Is there a way to use the serializable java.util.Locale type in a WS endpoint, or do we have to use its String representation?
What is the preferred solution for hash-table types like Properties? And what about Interface types like Map?
Maybe we just do not find the decisive documentation link?
    Thanks a lot,
    Dirk

  • How do I get out of kernel panic?  kernel panic upon boot.  I did that hard drive cleanup and reinstalled Lion.  What about memory?  Anyone think I need to upgrade my memory?  I have 8gig.

I get kernel paic upon boot.  I did that hard drive cleanup and reinstalled Lion.  What about memory?  Anyone think I need to upgrade my memory?  I have 8 G of upgraded RAM. (20 inch iMac core 2 duo)

If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post "shutdownStall" or "hang" reports.
If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
