What about including the version number in the package report?

Here's a simple suggestion - can we include the file version in the report that's created when you package files? Shouldn't be too hard to add something like:
ADOBE INDESIGN CS6 PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR SERVICE PROVIDER REPORT
Or
PUBLICATION NAME: 030-0212-INT_Clinical_FF.indd
PACKAGE DATE: 4/3/12 10:11 AM
Creation Date: 4/3/12
Modification Date: 4/3/12
Version: CS5.5
I can't believe I haven't thought of it sooner ... or that no one at Adobe has, either!

I'd prefer it to be even more precise:
Application: InDesign CS5.5 Version 7.5.3 build 333
Operating System: Macintosh 10.68

I use iCloud. I have an iPhone, Apple laptop, and I recently bought an iPad. I can view the pictures I take on my cell phone on my iPad. But what about all the pictures I took on my phone before I bought my iPad? How do I view those on my iPad?

POP: yahoo, aol, comcast/time warnder/road runner
Imap: google, hotmail, and more including icloud.
If you want to use multiple devices - move to imap, I would even say "exchange", but Google does not support free exchange anymore, since January of that year. So Ironically  Icloud or Hotmail would be my choices right now.
To find out more about what happens to you, search on Google "difference between pop and imap"

Spotlight lists items and shows preview images.  BUT what about showing the path/location address of an item in my computer.
Especially important if I've put the item in the wrong folder and what to locate it without multi-steps. iMac OS X 10.5 was more useful.
Old OSX Spotlight function automatically displayed path/location within the machine:  e.g. desktop/folder/sub-folder/item.
Can I make Spotlight show the path?

Press option-command and the path is displayed at the bottom of the little preview window.  Press command-return and the enclosing folder opens.

  • HT201359 OK. But what about VAT billings? What about including these purchases as my Company expenses? How can I get legal invoices which I might be able to declare?

    Hello,
I'm from Spain, Europe. I need to be able to declare the purchases my company does on iTunes and the App Store.
In order to be able to do so, I need Apple to include the name of my company and its VAT Number on the billing data Apple has from me. Unfortunately, Apple's billing data form does not offer the possibility to write neither the Company's name nor the VAT number.
From an European fiscal approach, any company that ommits the obligation of delivering invoices with VAT disclosure is actually committing a fiscal fraud.
Shall I put a demand on Apple or shall anyone at Apple explain me why isn't a way to include my VAT number on my Apple Account so that invoices include may  company's name and VAT number?
    Thank you very much,

    HI,
I forgot to follow up with the above. Thank you Hackintosh, your advice worked perfectly: I filled up a request, and Apple support team replied the following day. I received emails with the proper VAT invoices.
Here is what I wrote, if it be useful for others:
    Hello Apple,
I write to you regarding VAT charged and invoice for the electronic downloads from the Mac App Store. As you may know, there is no alternative way for a business to buy a software upgrade for Mac OS X for example. As I use my Mac Book Pro in my office for my business, I need VAT invoicing, as requested by EU and Irish laws.
I searched from the Apple Community discussions here
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4715504
    and here
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2714929
Please note that any purchase I made from the Apple Store with physical delivery has been invoiced properly with VAT.
Please could you send me the VAT invoices for my 201x purchases below:
    - Order Number: MTyourNumber, Receipt Date: xx/x/xx, Receipt No. 987654321, Order Total: 23,99 €
    - Order ID: MTyourNumber, Receipt Date:  xx/x/xx, Receipt No. 987654321, Order Total: 27,99 €
My VAT number is IE XYZXYZ.
    Kind regards,

  • What will be the future reporting tool?

    Hi Friends..
I just worried about the future reporting tool in BW. can anyone give me some idea about this? its Visual Composer or Bex?
    Thanks in advance
    Sathya

    Hi Sathya,
For now Bex and Web reports(from WAD) would co-exist. But most of the NW2004s points that the roadmap would be to replace WAD with Visual Composer. That being the case and given Excel's feature then you would probably use both Bex and Visual Composer reports in the future.
    Bye

  • GarageBand v.10 vs. v.6: what about all the support files?

Never used GarageBand myself, so I don't know much about it. Redoing setup of a friend's older model iMac, I install some of the iLife 2011 apps, but see that the App Store offers the latest GarageBand v.10 as a free install, so I go ahead with the latter. However, I note that the new GarageBand doesn't seem to install any of the very large array of support files that the old GarageBand did (e.g. in /Library/Application Support/GarageBand). I wonder, does the new GarageBand use any of that stuff? If so, shouldn't it appear when GB 10 is installed?
I delete the new GarageBand and install GB 6.0 from the iLife install disc; it puts the usual 1.4GB of support files in /Library/Application Support/GarageBand (and others elsewhere, I believe). I then download/install the new GB v.10 again, noting that while the GB 6.0 application file (which has now been placed in a folder labeled "GarageBand 6.0) is some ~267 MB, the new GB 10 application is 1.2GB. So does the new GB include all its support files within the application? If/when I delete GB 6.0, shall I delete all the supporting files (which I recall from previous searches are spread out in various locations)? Anybody know about this?

Thanks, léonie, for the information; very helpful. I downloaded the updater for GB 6.0.5, but the Installer told me “The version of GarageBand installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available.” Software Update / Mac App Store doesn’t show any update for any version of GarageBand.
Assuming that the presence of GB 10 prevents the Installer from seeing GB 6, I delete GB 10, pull GB 6 out of the folder where it was placed by the GB 10 installation, then Restart the iMac, and run the GB 6.0.5 Update again. Now it tells me “GarageBand 6.0 or later is required to install this update.” Uh, GarageBand 6.0 is right there in the Applications folder; it even says “GarageBand 6.0” below it.
Okay. I move GarageBand 6.0 to the Trash, and reinstall it from the iLife 11 disc, then Restart the iMac and try the GB 6.0.5 Update again. This time it works. Whew. I then download/install GB 10 again. I’ll leave it up to the iMac owner to decide where he wants to go with these.
    Thanks again.

  • Got a new hard drive for Snow Leopard, but what about all the applications?

    Hi,
Installing Snow Leopard revealed a faulty hard drive, but Genius Bar got me a new hard drive and installed Snow Leopard and the rest of the Mac Box Set for me.
I'm putting my computer back together, and I had all my files backed up on a Passport, but what do I do about the applications that I had? I could use a reinstallation of Office for Mac and Final Cut Express. Can I ask the companies directly?

Since I bought my computer, I've moved four times and have probably lost those installation disks. Is there any way I can get or download new ones?
More reason to back up your +*entire system,+* whether with Time Machine, a "clone" app like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, and/or some other way.
You should still retain the original discs, of course, but having a full system backup greatly reduces the chance you'll need them.
For info on Time Machine, you might want to review the Time Machine Tutorial
and perhaps browse Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).
For info on others, see Kappy's post on Basic Backup, complete with links to the web sites of each product.

  • What about setting the page numbering on a bunch of files that are used in multiple Bookfiles?

I have an FM 10 bookfile called  BookfileA with 20 chapters. In chapter 1, I set the chapter numbering to start at 1 and the page numbering to start at 1. In chapters 2 through 20, I set the chapter numbering and the page numbering to increment from the previous chapter. So far, so good, but here's the problem. .....
In BookfileB, chapter 1 is a different file, and the original chapter 1 is moved to chapter 2. But BookfileB's chapter 2 is still self-resetting its chapter and page numbering to 1.
Because of the unusual fact that BookfileB has an extra chapter, do I have to monkey with the chapter numbering every time I want to generate one variant or the other? Is there something about numbering that I don't realize?

    > You're still using the Book settings to specify how the file is to behave with that option ...
    True enough.
[*]RFF is likely the optimal setting for most users, who either don't have multiple Book files, or do, but use a consistent numbering scheme for all (our case).
If RFF is not selected, and the Book and component file Document Numbering settings don't match, FM complains, vaguely. It's a pain to chase down why. And in our experience, if RFF is not set, the Book and component file numbering can get desynchronized by FM crashes, so what was working all of a sudden does not.

  • Security can protect the client, what about protecting the app from client?

This is not about code obfuscation or preventing decompilation.
I'm actually interested in trying to build an extensible application without a managed full-time server (the clients may go mobile and become disconnected) that can protect itself from not necessarily a malicious user, but more like an incompetent one.
As I looked into using Eclipse RCP, I realised that this is going to be too fragile (delete a single file and it's all going to fail) or even worse, an unapproved plugin could be installed.
As a client, I can require that jars be signed and everything, but how as an application can I require that the client VM is running secure?
Short of Sun's "Sun Secure Global Desktop" product, does anyone see any obvious solutions?
    Thanks in advance.

300+ users that, honestly, can break a bowling ball in 500 ways. This is a perfect reason to use a web app, until you find out that we've been asked to provide offline capability.
Most frameworks/environments (hibernate/cayenne, RCP, JPF) all have configuration files that can be messed up by well meaning users and support staff. In a way, I'd love to have that info available from a web server, but we're back to offline support.
A possible solution is a local (in office) server to manage the apps for local clients, I'd just like to make sure we've thought about everything before we commit resources and staff. To properly support offline, we're probably going to need this anyway.
I'm just wondering if anyone's managed to begin to address any of these kinds of issues.

  • FF4 eliminated homepage. Re-updated 3.6.16, still have no homepage; so no email, etc--everything's gone. How do I get it back? If I set up new homepage, what about all the email? Am not computer savvy, can anyone help a computer nerd?

When Firefox is opened, my home page is blank. Bookmarks are still there, & all seem to work except 'myyahoo', which is my home page. Screen is blank below toolbar, etc. Cannot get 'myyahoo' to come up. According to many other questions I read, everyone had some kind of trouble when they updated to Firefox 4; restoring to 3.6.16 seemed to solve the majority of those problems. It did not help me.

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

  • HT3965 What about with the new iTunes and a non iOS device like my iPod nano 4??

  • What about if the awaking breaks external devices?

I use external sound and MIDI devices via USB ports, If I close the lid then awake my macbook pro, the external devices don't work anymore. Is it possible to close the lid without sleep?
Why do I have to close my laptop?
I want to use another larger displayer and full keyboard in my office. And I don't want to keep my MBP's screen lighting.

Since you have an external display and keyboard (and presumably an external mouse), you can run in clamshell mode. The MBP still needs to go to sleep, but can be awoken with the lid closed. Instructions are as follows:
    Wired kb/mouse - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86286
    Bluetooth kb/mouse - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1308
Alternatively, you can use a 3rd party hack to disable lid-closed sleep (but these can reportedly cause problems):
    InsomniaX - http://semaja2.net/insomniaxinfo/
    SleepLess Mac - http://www.alxsoft.com/mac/sleepless.html
    Hope this helps...

  • I am selling my iMac, but what about resetting the computer?

i am putting my 21.5" imac up for sale, but it has been recently upgraded to osx lion. i want to reset to factory defaults so that the new user can operate the mac like new, but want to keep the new software. is this possible?

Just to expand a bit: the license for Lion purchased from the app store is NOT transferable, so that is the reason you need to wipe the drive and reinstall the original system. Legally and since you'll be erasing it, you could keep a copy of your system if you like since you paid for your license, but - if you're buying a new Mac, it'll be already installed, so there's not much reason to keep it.

  • HT201303 What about changing the security questions?

After my account was hacked in to I'm pretty sure they changed these, as mine no longer work

Sice I was having the exact same issue with my account and trying to make a purchase I found my solution by calling the apple support line that I found online, I'm not the greatest of problem solvers or talking to people over the phone for that measure but I did, call they asked me a few questions and where able to change my 2 security questions once they fixed it I was able to log in and change my password but now I write down my passwords and keep them in a very secure location just in case I ever needed them again it really does help. I hope that this will help you in any form of trying to change your security questions.
