ICloud and Apple ID are different, what about Itunes Match??
My apple ID, what I use to purchase apps and songs with, is different than my iCloud ID which I use to synch mail, contacts, etc with.
Now that iTunes Match is live, and I am using it, what is going to happen when I do a synch? Has anyone in my situation tried yet?
Im wondering if, when my phone goes to the cloud to synch, it wont see any music under my iCloud ID and just not synch that, or will it be ok this way? It has worked great up to now, but am worried.
If you are wondering why I dont just try it, well it seems the servers at Apple are once again overloaded and I cant do anything more with iTunes match then what initially synchronized. I get a time out error now. So I thought I would ask the question and try to resolve any potential problems before they happen!I was in the exact same situation as you. I had an Apple ID I purchased all my songs/movies/shows/apps with, and a completely different one that I used for iCloud. I decided that for iTunes Match, I'd just use my iCloud ID, and it's been great. I never have to use my old account. Whenever my old apps have updates, my iPhone just asks me for my password (it remembers my old email), and the updates download. It's easy and great - you'll be fine. Enjoy iTunes Match!

Switching from PC laptop to MacBook--what about iTunes and iPod
I've been using a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop for a couple of years, and have an iTunes account and a 60G iPod video set up to sync with it.
But now I'm getting a MacBook laptop and will get rid of the PC laptop.
Big questions loom:
- I set my iPod up for Windows. How do I change the setup to Mac?
- How do I move my iTunes library from the PC to the Mac?
- What else do I need to know?
Thanks!When you connect your iPod to the new MacBook it won't automatically erase it. Instead you'll be told the iPod is synced to a different computer and ask if you want to sync it to the MacBook. Click on cancel. Your iPod isn't erased.
Now head over to your favorite download site versiontracker.com is good and search on 'iPod'. You'll find several freeware and shareware programs that'll transfer your songs to the MacBook. Use one. -
New computer - what about iTunes?
I have a new computer (iMac) and used a windows based computer before. That computer no longer works, but what to do with iTunes and my iPhone on the new computer? I do not want to loose everything I have on the iPhone when I connect my iPhone to the computer and it starts syncing. Can anyone please help me?

About to move from XP to Windows 7 - what about iTunes Library

Shortly I will be wiping XP from my PC and doing a new install (not upgrade) of Windows 7.
What do I need to do regards saving my iTunes Library and then Importing into W7.

Thanks.There are some drawbacks, running Windows 7 (only) on a Mac via Bootcamp yields less than stellar results, especially with the Retina display.
And of your traveling, the Mac's high power needs (especially the Retina display) and lack of removable battery are going to be a serious issue. The Retina display is glossy, not ideal for viewing on the road and in varied environments.
CS4 won't run on the OS X version that comes with a Mac, so your looking at purchasing CS6.
Support for Windows is more widespread than for Mac's, also if you ever need to redownload OS X to fix a issue, requires a fast reliable Internet connection of the broadband kind.
If your running Windows on your Mac, you can expect to be on your own and not get support as easily as if you were running it on a regular PC.
If you can't afford to keep up with CS upgrades, then you shouldn't be considering a Mac because there are more paid upgrades on that than on Windows 7, it's like a annual nightmare.
IMMO your still better off on a decent, 1920 x 1080 res, matte screen, removable battery (with extras), Win 7 Pro i7 machine (Pro+ runs XP programs) which will stay like it is and get security updates until 2020.
OS X changes every year and if you don't upgrade, + all your third party software, then about 3 years later your left behind for updates.
Also you will have to buy Win 7 to run on your Mac, the OEM disks won't work.
If your trying to budget, then a Mac is certainly not for you. -

There is no serial number for iTunes. If you want to contact Apple customer support, you have to provide your Apple deivce serial number which is in the device SETTINGS/GENERAL/ABOUT

As long as the report ends up with 'Permissions repair complete' then, as far as permissions go, you are fine. You can ignore the various statements in the report:

Using 'should be -rw-r--r-- , they are lrw-r--r--' as an example, you will see the that the permissions are not changed, but the | indicates a different location. This is because an update to Leopard onwards changed the location of a number of system components.

When iTunes Store will be available for Asia???
We are here in Asian countries feel frustrated that we cannot download new software or buy movies, music from the iTunes Store. So far it is only available to Japan. What about the others??? Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, etc......
Can anyone answer this one or iTunes/Apple has any plan to do so????We are simply fellow users like you, so no one on these boards will have that information. What I will say is that Apple must negotiate contracts will all major copyright holders for content in each individual country. When those contracts are in place for a specific country, then Apple will announce that a store will be available for that area.

I have 2 iphones syncing on one computer and on the same apple ID.
Before i updatad my Itunes to the last available update and my Iphones to 5.01
i had no problem draging jpg. and mp3 files into my iphones DCIM folder (the picture folder that opens
when conecting to Itunes). Since my updates Itune wont let me drag and drop any files' even pictures that
were taken with my Iphone on 4.3.3.
Please help as we have no itunes music in Israel, only apps and i cant copy any of my old music from my computer
to my iphones.
If it helps, i am using a pc with 32 bit windows 7.
Other from the obove Itunes works fine and does sync pictures from my computer to my Iphone from "my pictures" folder.

I already took a chance deleting one of the iPhones, hoping if I deleted the wrong one, I can still reauthorize it (all with the same Apple ID acct, so not subject to 90-day waiting period, right?) The iTunes database just updated itself, and it says I have 4 "devices" "in the Cloud", but 5 "computers" associated w my account. How can I find out what computers are associated? Isn't there a list I can see? I dont have a clue what computers they might be. If I use the "Deauthorize All" option, is it a pain to add them all back in. I assume I would have to log in from each computer to reauthorize each one. Would I have to be running the newest OS or version of iTunes to reauthorize? I think I have a PowerBook G4 Titanium with an older OS and iTunes. I'd like to keep that authorized, if possible.

I don't get why my Apple ID keeps saying this device is already associated with an Apple ID and something about 90 days but also it doesn't let me download any of my pre orders when available it has happened to me twice and my past purchases can someone contact me and give me some help sorting this out

I'm getting a similar problem with my Macbook Pro. itunes match was working fine until two days ago when i created another 'user id' for the laptop and then an itunes account for that user under their profile. Now i cant turn on itunes match on my itunes under my user account. Contacted Apple today who said to use the Express Lane and email the problem and they might be able to make an 'exception' on the account. Otherwise I'll have to wait 88 days to access a lot of my music on the macbook pro. itunes match is still working on the iphone 4S and ipad2.
Can anyone help? The only thought was too re-stream the laptop. Ive already tried deauthorising the other user but it made no difference.

Your i-device was not designed to be a reliable unique storage for your media. It is not a backup device and everything is structured around you maintaining your media on a computer which is itself backed up. Sync transfer is one way, computer to device, matching the device content to the content on the computer. If the computer has nothing on it, the device is set to match the computer's content -- nothing.The exception is purchased content.
