What about my iWeb sites after June 30, 2012?

I have two web sites created in iWeb.  Where is the best place to go to get information about how to transfer these web sites to the Internet at large and get hosting so they do not disappear after June 30, 2012?

Welcome to the Apple community.
You need to choose a new web hosting service. Once you have done so get the information that you need such as the FTP address, your username, password and file path and enter it into iWeb under the FTP option. You can then republish your websites to your new hosting service.
You may need to check some of the features on your website, to ensure they work with your new hosting service. Such things as page counters and gallery slideshows don't.

  • What about my IWeb site??? Will that transfer also? Please reply. Thank you. Carol

Please reply with information whether IWeb sites will be transferred to the cloud or are we to find a new host before 2011?

Look, why not read the many post on the forums first before posting something like this.
We are not employees of Apple and are just forum users like yourself here, so we really don't know what will happen.
Nobody knows and we will just have to wait and see.
Before you start panicking, MobileMe hosting will be around for at least another year, so if you have MobileMe now, you can continue to use it.
Wait for Apple to announce the plans, like the rest of us will have to and read the other forum posts on the topic and send Apple feedback.

  • What happens to Homepage websites after June 30, 2012

I have several legacy sites done in Homepage.  Do these need to be moved prior to June 30, 2012?
    Thanks,

Everything on your iDisk will disappear on July 1st.
That includes ALL files and folders on your iDisk.
To summarize: Everything will be gone at midnight June 30/July 1.

  • TS3161 I thought iWeb was going to be obsolete after June 30 2012?

So if I have to find another host can they just use the current web information or do I have to design a new site?
    Any suggestions???
    Thank you!

iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
NOTE: the iLife 11 boxed version Is no longer available at the online Apple Store.  To get a copy you'll have to try Amazon.com or eBay.com.

  • Lost iWeb site after reinstalling OS

I installed Leopard using the clean install but forgot to backup my iWeb site from my Library. I have the entire site online. Is there a way to recreate the iWeb site locally from my .mac account?

Without the Domain.sites file there is no way.
You've learned a very hard lesson about backing up your User folder.

As of today. When trying to use my bookmarked link in my bookmarks toolbar, it didnt work.I entered my site into the address bar and my site loaded fine.
    But...I have some problems.
My comments in my blog have disapeared
I cant log into my MobileMe account through my system preferences
My password and use name are rejected
I can log into my site through MobileMe.com and I have even changed my password.

Can I just delete the Iweb Seo Tool and get rid of any metatags, google analytics and everything else? and have my old website back?

iWeb SEO Tool can modify your site after you've published to MobileMe. It will do it on the MMe server. Takes longer but you can avoid having to publish to a folder and then uploading from there. Also the latest version, 1.7.2, is supposed to work with blog pages according to the developer: http://www.ragesw.com/products/iweb-seo-tool.html

  • Hosting my IWeb site after MME stops

I am looking to host my current website on a third party website before MME stops. I currently have purchased my domain from weebly, however I believe that weebly do not host iWeb sites. Does anyone have any suggestions as to who to use?

There's lots of options out there. Pick one with good tech support and make sure you order a Linux account. See this page for more info...

  • Restoring an iweb site after erase & install.

all of my site info is in the .mac iweb folder, but i can't see a way to load that information into iweb. i use the iweb for a photo gallery on a drum company website, and would rather not rebuild it from scratch. can anyone help?
    thanks
    candcdrumcompany.com

Well, I'm afraid that you have no choice but to rebuild your site from scratch. That is....unless you saved the iWeb "Domain" file before you did your erase and reinstall on your hard drive. This is the file where iWeb saves everything about your website. Without it, there is no way to ever edit or publish your online website again.
Everyone reading this should backup your Domain file NOW! And keep backing it up with every major update of your site! You never know when it will come in handy...
You can find your Domain file in your hard drive in the following folder pathway... /Users/username/Library/Application Support/iWeb/

  • Can I import my iweb sites after re-installing ilife08

    I'm sweating a bit here.
I've just installed leopard, and have refreshed my hard drive (ie deleted it all)
I back up all my sites that I created in iweb, then re-installed ilife 08.
I can't retrieve my sites that I created into iweb.
    am I screwed?

    Hi there,
it depends on what you made a backup of...
Did you backup the Domain file?
    User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2
If so you would just need to double click it...
If you didn't backup this file but did a backup of html pages then you will have to rebuild the site by copy and paste...

  • Can I recover iWeb sites after a complete HD crash?

    Ok, here´s my case.
Last Sunday my MacBook died. Trust me. It died. No one could save the information and the hard drive had to be formatted. And there was the Murphy´s Law factor. I was preparing my files to back up and then, CRASH! After 3 days at a specialized service center it had to be formatted, no information could be saved and when I turned my MacBook on and installed the system, again, it was like the first time I ever used it, like it was just out of the box. No applications, no files, no photos, no music, nothing.
When I configured my .mac email in Mail, I had all my information there. Inbox messages, sent messages etc. The same with my Address Book contacts and iCal calendars. I expected that in iWeb, it´d be the same. That I could see the entire site to be modified, just like it happened with Mail and the other applications I mentioned. But when I opened iWeb it was blank, like it was the very first time I ever used it.
Is there some way to recover my iWeb files? When you lose a website information, you can recover all your files stored in the server via FTP. Is there a similar way with Apple servers and iWeb pages? I´m worried because I have LOTS of information in my webpage and I´m afraid to lose it if I publish something new because it´s all blank in iWeb. Do I have to re-create the entire site?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Greetings from Mexico City.

Actually my boss had that idea. There´s a folder in my iDisk named iWeb and I had noticed before that all my webpage´s files were there. Every time you click publish in iWeb, all your files are uploaded to that folder.
As I said before. With Dreamweaver, if you reinstall you can set up again all your access and you can recover your files via FTP and keep working with them. If I downloaded the files contained in my iWeb folder in my iDisk, and put them in my iWeb library, would that work? Would it be the same as the example I´m saying? Could I work using my existing webpage files?
I´m at work now and there´s no iWeb in this computer so I have no idea if it´d work fine. Any ideas?
I mean, there has to be a way.
I´ll give it a try at home as soon as I can and I´ll keep you all informed.
    Thanx everybody!

  • IWeb website after June, to where?

So, as you all know, MobileMe will be terminated by the end of June!
I have a website that I created on iWeb and uploaded easily.
Now, WHAT can I do before MobileMe closes for good, how to transfer my website and to where??
    any help guys, please
    Thank you so much,
    Suleiman

iWeb offers two alternative ways to publish...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Publish-Website.html
... and you need to choose and signup for hosting...

If you have registered, or are going to register, a new domain name, it needs to be added to Google...

You should also create and upload a new sitemap.xml...

... and add this in your Google dashboard.

  • Is there a way to delete all of my iWeb sites after the iCloud transition?

    Hi!
I'm trying to delete all of my websites that I created with iWeb but it doesn't seem to work (even republishing a blanc page).
Does anybody know if there is a way to do it or is not posible after the transition to iCloud?
    Thanks!

iCloud has nothing whatsoever to do with your websites - these are published to MobileMe.
Log into your MobileMe account under System Preferences and go to your iDisk where all your published sites are stored and simply delete them - the delete button should be on the left hand side of all your sites.
You can do this or mount your iDisk on your desktop.

  • Search option missing from iWeb site after MobileMe transition

I'm assuming this is a residual bug from the transition to MobleMe, but I've just noticed that my site published with iWeb is missing the Search box on the home page. Just curious if anyone else has had this, or anyone has found a fix.
Tried republishing the site, but still no joy. Also tried viewing the site via the new MobleMe address as well (as opposed to old .Mac address), and it's missing there too.
    Bueller? Anyone?

Strange, my friend on the latest Firefox could not see the search bar, but when I asked her to load into Safari, the webpage loaded up fine (on a Powerbook). I then tried to load up the page on Safari with my Powerbook, but no dice.
I then booted up into Windows XP and tried viewing my webpage via IE 7, Firefox 3 AND Safari, and the search bar STILL does not show up. The search bar is not limited to Mac OS X and Safari (on a Mac) right?

  • What about this web site wants to run the add-on Quicktimecheck Scriptable Object fr. Apple Computer Inc.  ( unverified publisher )

Since the change to the layout of the Apple Forums here on line in the apple support, and after the I Phone  ( eye Phone )   news about the I Phone capturing movements and data from consumers, I have lost the trust of the new Apple Computers, and wandering if the company really wants us to inner act with one another, I wonder if they know they could lose us?  Anyway,  I still need to find my old discussions from the Apple Forums and my G4.  I have one because I tabed it on the tool bar.  It displays just like it used too, so I better copy it and save it as a souvenir

Don't trust that wherever it coming from, sounds like the DNS changer a bit, which pretended to be a QuickTime update.
I & another asked higher up for help on your name, no reply yet, but I think the / in your alias liiks like a folder seperator to the new board anyway.
