What accounts for intermittent Error -8 failures?

I've been following this group carefully, and configured my router and MacBookPro so that video iChat works successfully on my home wireless network.
SOMETIMES.
This is too weird, and I'm on the verge of giving up. First, I get it working fine. Then another day, the other party can start a video chat with me, but I can't initiate a chat with them. The next day it works OK again. Then the following day it stops working altogether (the infamous Error -8, suggesting port issues). Huh?
The same laptop runs video iChat flawlessly on my office (university) network. So clearly this has something to do with my home network (Austin TX TimeWarner Roadrunner, Buffalo wireless "g" router). I get that.
But all the ports and speeds and Quicktime settings are correct (thank you Ralph). Like I said: I have gotten it to work with this particular port/speed set up. And needless to say, I don't change anything in between.
At this point I'm not even all that interested in wasting more time trying to fix this. My question is a more general one: What on earth can account for this behavior? It would seem to me that once I've got it set up properly, and it works, it ought to continue working. Are my ports magically closing and opening themselves while I sleep? What????

Ahhh,
Road Runner.
They and Comcast seem to exercise some form of Data packet management that iChat does not like.
Both claim they don't do anything.
Try setting iChat > Preferences > Video section > Bandwidth Limit Drop down to 500
(Change ISPs ?)

Please be aware that you are not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums. The only people who will reply to your posts are your fellow users.
You would need to talk to the Apple Store from which you purchased the iPad. Apple's official return policy is 14 days, though it's been reported that the manager of some Apple Stores have been waiving that limit.
I doubt very much that the Apple Store will have anyone who speaks Chinese, though of course you can ask.

Not sure if this will help you out, but I found a few interesting solutions to the issues discussed here.
1) Trying to install NWSp16 on my work laptop.
2) I initially received a domain/username issue. <b>Resolution</b> required me to be plugged into the network either locally, or through a VPN (which causes another issue later on).
3) Once plugged in locally, the install process validates my username and the group privileges I have.
4) Creating/Modifying OS Accounts failed. <b>Resolution</b> Since I was plugged into my work network, their password policy (when creating users) became necessary. Meaning, you have to make sure the password you use during the install process for the two users that are created will pass your work's password policy.
Once I corrected the passwords, the install process created the users without any issues.

Sometimes the Adobe servers used for the updates can get busy and it’s necessary to try a couple of times. Also make sure you don’t have a firewall which may be blocking the connection. It sometimes helps to temporarily disable internet security/anti-virus software. Because the Organizer is shared by both programs it often helps to do the PSE update first, followed by the PRE update in that order.
Select the 12.1 update for PSE from the updater dialog and ensure everything else is unchecked. Quit PSE and PRE if you have it running and then start the update.
If PSE updates properly to 12.1 repeat the process for PRE.

Mail app asking for passwords it already knows, taking accounts offline, intermittently failing to connect IMAP/SMTP

Recently I have been experiencing intermittent connection failures with Mail in OS X 10.7.5 on both our Mac Pro and MacBook Pro.
The little "lightning bolt" icon or the "exclamation point" icon will occasionally appear next to some or all of my accounts in the left column and Mail will (sometimes) prompt for passwords already in my keychain and then take the accounts offline. Sometimes the failures take place during IMAP logins and sometimes during SMTP sends. Sometimes they affect my iCloud accounts, sometimes my Gmail accounts, and sometimes both.
When I try to take the account(s) back online, Mail sometimes fails to do so. Quitting the Mail application completely and relaunching it will randomly result in the problem persisting or going away. What makes this so confusing is about half the time, Mail works just fine.
This is only happening on OS X, in Apple Mail, our iPad and iPhones appear unaffected even when running on the same router with the same ISP. I can also verify that all the iCloud and Gmail accounts in question can be reached successfully using other mail client software from Windows in my various virtual machines. Therefore I believe this is an application issue and not something related to my network.
When the issue is evident, Connection Doctor will fail on some or all counts...when it goes away Connection Doctor will show all green lights again.
This issue has only manifested in the past week or so, and both machines are up to date on Software Updates. Perhaps something pushed out recently from Apple is causing this? Is anyone else having a similar experience?

Same issue, too. But I have nothing better to do than try to fix Apple problems that appear mysteriously and randomly; I'm sure you're the same way.
The REAL REASON, which can no longer be overlooked, is that Apple's (probably underpaid sweatshop Chinese) employees build toys for grown-ups and do little more than that. I wish I had never bought my Mac (2009) since few things about Apples are "intuitive" unless you've been an Apple cultist since Jobs introduced the first Mac. Oh, and because things mysteriously stop working, something I don't recall happening with any of the PCs I've owned.

Service accounts for the Workspace Database service permission Error while creating Tabular Mode from PowerPivot

Hi All,
Please help me out against this issue. I have spent so much (3 working days) time just figuring out what is the issue and its solution.
I am learning Tabular Mode and trying to create a mode based on PowerPivot model. I am getting following error message:
'The PowerPivot workbook could not be imported. The service account for the workspace database server does not have permission to read from the PowerPivot workbook.'
Here is my infrastructure:
1. SSAS in Tabular Mode is installed on my Windows 8 Laptop
2. PowerPivot is also in my laptop
3. There is only my account (as Admin of course) for SSAS
Here are my questions:
1. What is this error and how can I cope with that? A step by step explanation would be highly appreciated :-)
2. Do I need to change something in Windows settings or in SSAS?
3. I am confused about my workspace database server as well, Do I have to install SSAS twice; one for development and one for workspace?
Looking forward for the expert advise.

Data Buffer error USER_AUTH_FAILED: User account for logonid "SYSTEM"

All, I have the following errors on both the Quality and the Production system in our data buffer job.
com.sap.security.api.NoSuchUserException: USER_AUTH_FAILED: User account for logonid "SYSTEM" not found!
These entries will not process because they are generating an error about the loginid for the Username SYSTEM is not found.
So I am thinking that somehow the MII system is not capturing the correct username when they are being added into the Data Buffer Jobs, or there is something I am overlooking when I set up the databuffering.
Other entries that were in the data buffer jobs were listed as using the RS1000SVC-QMUSBATCH, RS1630SVC-PMIIBATCH User accounts. These are the accounts that our scheduled tasks run under.
Those entries process OK out of the data buffer jobs.
I did notice a similarity between the data buffer jobs in the quality and production systems as it pertains to the following transactions.
Production MII ver 12.0.7 (Build 20)
Muscatine%2FIntegration%2FSAP%2FPROD_CONFIRMED_INPUT_InsertQuery
Which is called from the MIIC1043_IDOC Message Processing Rule.
Muscatine%2FIntegration%2FSAP%2FHEADER_InsertQuery
Which is called from the MIIC1043_Control_Recipe_Download Message Processing Rule.
Quality MII 12.0.11 (Build 14)
Muscatine%2FIntegration%2FSAP%2FPROD_CONFIRMED_INPUT_InsertQuery
Which is called from the MIIC1043_IDOC Message Processing Rule.
So the commonality is that these transactions are being initaiated by the Message processing rules.
Are there known issues with data buffering from transactions initiated with Message Processing Rules?
Is anyone sucessfully using data buffering of transactions called by message processing rules?
Any help is appreciated.

Jeremy, Thanks for your reply.
There doesn't seem to be much detailed information on the use of Catagories with Processing rules in Help or in the forums. So let me see if I understand your suggestion correctly.
On the MII server create a processing rule for the message using a category instead of using a transaction, The message received by the message listener will be placed in a buffer. I am assuming these messages whould show up in the message monitor and not in the Data Buffer jobs/entries.
So in my transaction which normally processes this data I could add logic to access the message data; using the Message Service (Query, Read, Update and Delete) action blocks. I could pare down the selection by selecting messages based on the MessageCategory that I defined in the message processing rule. This will allow me to access the stored message data.
Finally use a scheduled Job to execute the transaction. The scheduled job would be run with a valid userID and Password so if it connection to the external database failed the enteries would be placed in the data buffer jobs with a valid userID credentials.
Does this sound like what you had in mind?

When using Connection Doctor to see what is could be causing the issue, look for the red dots to let you know what is wrong. Then all you have to do is correct that information. You can double click on the section that is giving you issue and it will take you there. Most issues could be just password being entered incorrectly. Take a look at the article below to walk you through troubleshooting issues with Mail.

One question. While trying to reconsile my MS SQL database table it fails and I'm getting the next error message:

Unfortunately that didn't help. I deleted the whole account index just to make sure all 'links' where gone but I'm still getting the null pointer exception.

I have gone through this and found that, we should need to configure gain/loss accounts in OB09.
I am not sure, what accounts need to be configured for a service tax account(3260423), Its a balance sheet account.
Can someone guide me on this.

Hello Sudhir,
regarding to your incident, could you please try the following:
   1.The problem is probably caused by the settings in transaction OBA1.
     The system checks OBA1, if there is an entry for process KDF and
     the relevant G/L account 135090. If there is none -> F5 063 is
     created. Also the exchange rate difference accounts have to be
     maintained in OB09
     If you make a dummy entry in OBA1 & OB09 this account will be
     selected when trying to make an exchange rate difference posting.
     Please also check the documentation to field "No forex rate diff.
     when clearing in LC" in transaction OBY6.
   2.Basically solution is to create the mentioned account for exchange
     rate difference, in order to avoid error F5063.
     But, if you don't want to post that difference, I ask you to check
     the solution proposed into OSS note 546997.

It is not possible to create a new iCloud account using a Windows machine. You must create the account using a Mac (10.7.5 or more) or an IOS device (iPhone etc). Once that is done you can sign into and use the account on your Windows machine.

Welcome to the Apple community.
iTunes and iCloud and different accounts, you will need to delete both accounts from your device before adding the new details in their place.
For iCloud go to settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit the delete button. You can then sign back in using your correct details. For iTunes go to settings >store, tap your account ID and then sign out, you can then sign back in using your correct Apple ID.
