What adapter for monitor?

My friend here at work just purchased a Dual 2.0 PowerMac G5. She went to hook up her new LCD 19 inch display and the connector supplied with the Xerox monitor and the PowerMac are not correct. Which adapter will she need to connect her monitor to her powermac? If you need more info to answer my question please feel free to ask..thanks

Thank you for the scan. That does help quite a bit (I think).
Here's what I think based on that adapter: The screws on the adapter indicate that it accepts a DVI cable connection on the large end and adapts it to a VGA connection on the small end. You'd screw the monitor cable onto the large end. The small VGA end is the end that would plug into the computer (since the adapter's screws are on that end). This would be used if your monitor has a DVI connection and your computer is older and only has an available VGA connection on its video card.
The adapter that Apple provides is used in the opposite situation. It's for when you've got a DVI connection on the video card, and your monitor only has VGA (e.g. a CRT monitor, or a very cheap LCD).
So, it would appear that the cable that's attached to the monitor is DVI. Like I mentioned above, you'd only need the blue adapter if your computer doesn't have a DVI connection and only has VGA. Your friend's G5 has a DVI connection, so the DVI cable that's connected to the monitor should be connected directly to the port on the G5, without any adapters whatsoever.
I hope this helps. Post back if any of it's unclear.

  • What kind of monitor do I get as a 2nd one for the imac 2013

    Hi Guys,
I need to know what type of 2nd monitor will I need to buy as a 2nd screen for the new imac 27" 2013.
I have seen a few online, but unsure what to get. The ones i have seen have a hdmi port. Will that work?
And I am guessing I will need a thunder bolt to hdmi cable.
    Thx for your help.
    Kind Regards,

There are dozens if not hundreds of compatible monitors available. Without knowing anything about your needs, it's pretty difficult to offer specific suggestions. If you can give us some sort of information on your needs so that we can narrow down the possibilities, then perhaps someone can recommend a specific monitor.
For whatever monitor you choose, you will need an appropriate mini-DisplayPort adapter for the type of input on the monitor (the Thunderbolt port doubles as a mini-DisplayPort for connecting monitors). There are adapters available to connect VGA, DVI or HDMI monitors which should cover any monitor you're likely to select.
    Regards.

Camera connection kit for ipad 2. Can this kit be used with ipad air and if so what adapter(s) are required please

You can try the 30 pin to lightning adapter but I'm not sure if that'll work. So if you get it to experiment, make sure you can return it. Apple does sell a SD to lightning adapter for the newer devices. So that should be a sure bet. The main downside is that your 30 pin camera kit came with both USB and SD for 29 and now the USB adapter is 19 and the SD adapter 29, so more expensive.
You may want to look into third party adapters, but make sure you use a reputable manufacturer (ie not a cheap no-name off amazon) because iOS7 brought with it software that looks for a signed chip in the adapter. And a chip is 'signed' when a company gets apple's permission to make accessories. I would suggest sticking with companies like Belkin, Kensington and Targus. They seem to be of a better reputation when making things and would have a signed chip.

  • I have an iPad 2 and want to use video mirroring. I bought a VGA adapter for the iPad, iPhone and iPod so that I could plug the iPad into any monitor, TV, projecter, etc without it being an HD device. I plug it in and it appears the monitor has no communi

I have an iPad 2 that I want to use with video mirroring to give lectures with. I bought a VGA Adapter for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod as I want to be able to connect with any TV, monitor or projector for lectures, not just an HD device.. After plugging in my iPad to the VGA adapter and then to the video device, it appears that there is no connection with the iPad. Anybody have any thoughts?

  • One more solution for Silent Monitoring Windows 7 64-Bit - ERROR VOIP2037 Unable to open the NIC adapter for sniffing.

    Hi,
we are using UCCX 8.5 SU3.
After replacing the actual agent workstations with Windows 7 64-bit we had to face problems with the silent monitoring. (no sound at all and in the CSD the usual error popup "Silent Monitor-Session failed...").
In the CAD logfile I found the errorcode. "ERROR VOIP2037 Unable to open the NIC adapter for sniffing. Please reconfigure the installation."
After investigating the logfiles, starting postinstall.exe a hundred times and reading the Configuring and Troubleshooting VoIP Monitoring Guide.
I just learnt about the wonderful tool nicq.exe.
And so i found out that the driver spcd.sys wasn't installed.
Check in the registry for "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SPCD"
It seems to me that the "Cisco Supervisor Desktop.msi" never installs the driver one a Windows 7 64-bit.
After starting the NICQ.EXE as administrator the driver is being installed.
    Test 1: Check Driver Status
Driver not installed. Attempting to install it...
Driver has now been successfully installed.
SPCD Driver service is not running. Attempting to start it...
SPCD Driver service is now running.
    Test 1: SUCCESS
And after that the silent monitoring works again like a charm.
    Maybe that info help someone.
    kind regards, sebastian

Excellent information, this has been driving me crazy for a while now.  Once i saw this info I was able to get it resolved rather quickly.

  • What adapter/converter do I use for my USA mac book pro in NEW ZEALAND?

I'm studying abroad in New Zealand for 2 months and was wondering what type of adapter/converter do I use? I'm actually already here in New Zealand but buy a converter/adapter before I left. What should I look for on the box? I have a mac book pro 13 in that I bought in 2011.Thanks!

The MacBook Pro power adapter is multi-voltage capable, so you will need just an AC outlet adapter for the New Zealand power system.

  • What should be configured as channel in Oracle CEP HTTP adapter for remote publishing?

    Hi,
Below is the adapter configuration that I have for Oracle CEP HTTP adapter for remote publishing. What exactly should be configured in <channel> here? In the oracle documentation example, it only says /channel2 as an example.
Below is the HTTP adapter configuration file that I have created.

        </http-pub-sub-adapter>
    </wlevs:config>
'/RESTfulWS' in my above configuration is the context-root of my rest service. But this is not working so I would like someone to help me understand this configuration.
    Many thanks.
    Regards
    Sowmya

    Hi, Sowmya,
    From your configuration
Is the http://localhost:8080/RESTfulWS/rest/UserInfoService/post/jsonstream httppubsub server? I don't think the oep http pub adapter can publish event to rest service.
For http pub adapter, you can take a look at fx sample, it publishes events to a embedded http pub/sub server of oep.
    Thanks,
    Gala
