What adaptor to use when travelling international

what adartor can I use for international if I need to charge my iphone 4S & ipad air

The iPad charger is international; it's rated 100V to 240V.
It's better to use a 10W/12W charger to charge iPhone and iPad. A 5W charger will get very hot when charging iPad.

What work traveler adapter do you use when traveling in India?

I didn't mean my reply as a rant! Just welcoming another disabled guy on board. Yes, I do budget - and have enough left over to buy software and hardware for my Mac. The 'government' doesn't pay my electric bill - I do - and I pay $460 a month in rent - and I live in a very nice, unsubsidized handicapped and wheelchair accessible apartment.
You really need to work on your anger issues - and although I, too, believe in an afterlife, I can be happy in life just as I am: I've no legs, so getting around is difficult for me but I don't let that stop me from enjoying life.
I've no family remaining save for an uncle and aunt and some cousins - and they're all in Texas. And, although I, too, was "dumped" by most of my middle-class friends, I have a handful of friends on whom I rely.
I don't believe that suicide is a way out, either. My own step-mother blew her brains out after she had a stroke. She was on massive amounts of antidepressants but she took her own life. That way is not for me.
Loosen up and open up a little - I'm sure that you can find something in common even if it's with others who may be disabled. I do some volunteer work with a couple of agencies in town and find that keeps me going - and keeps me from feeling sorry for myself.
If you need anyone to 'talk' to at anytime, just click on my name and my profile with my email address is public. Email me if you like...
And have a Happy New Year - and be thankful that you got your computer as a gift!

  • HOW TO DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET WHEN TRAVELING INTERNATIONAL

HELLO EVERY ONE.I RECENTLY TRAVELED TO CANADA,WHEN I RETURNED BACK HOME I RECIEVED AN $1800 CELL PHONE BILL,$1000 OF THE BILL WAS INTERNET USAGE,I ADD AN INTERNATIONAL FEATURE BEFORE I LEFT BUT IT WAS LIMITED (HOW DO YOU CHECK HOW MUCH USAGE YOU HAVE USED WHILE BROWSING).SO I ASKED AT&T/A GUY IN THE APPLE STORE,BUT NO ONE REALLY KNOW HOW TO DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET AFTER USING IT,WHEN TRAVELING INTERNATIONAL.(MY TREO HAD AN OPTION THAT ASKED DO YOU WANT TO DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET)(THE IPHONE DON'T)

If you have upgraded to version 1.1.1 or later there is a switch to disable cellular data while roaming. By default it is set to disable data. Settings/General/Network Data Roaming.
You can monitor cellular data usage in Settings/Usage. Reset it just before traveling.

  • How do I determine what URL to use when launching to display a RH10 .htm page?

    Hello,
We are implementing RoboHelp 10 for our online documentation and are sourcing it from Framemaker 11. I am trying to determine exactly what URL information the developers need to build for the launch to the specific IBM System i screen. Is anyone launching RoboHelp from a backend ERP system? If so, how did you determine what level to use when building the URL for that page?  Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

It depends on whether you just want to open the help at the default topic or open context sensitive topics.
Both methods are described in Calling Help on my site and there is more good information at http://www.wvanweelden.eu

  • Lg chocolate touch - how do I turn off data when traveling international?

I m going to travel international and will not be using data and don't want to get high data charges abroad, so I want to disable data before I leave and re-enable when I return. How is that done on the LG Chocolate Touch? I did not see any references to turning off data is the user manual.
    Thanks.

I understand your concern to bypass roaming charges! Please share your travel destination, so I may advise accordingly.  There is no option on your current device to simply disable/enable data.  I suggest not accessing any data, disabling any email account and subscriptions that automatically use data.  Thank you.

  • What do I use when Migration Assistant reads "you might not be able to transfer using firewire on this computer"?

When using Migration Assistant to transfer from one Mac to another Mac, as soon as I get to the point where it says to connect the firewire to each computer, it says "You might not be able to transfer using Firewire on this computer". What do I use then?

The G5 is running osx 10.4.11, but so is the G4.
I don't know if it's the Tiger or the Leopard.
10.4.x is Tiger; 10.5.x is Leopard.
I've not used the Tiger version of Migration Assistant (just Leopard and later), and there's not much in the way of Apple tech articles for it anymore.
Since the message says "might not," I don't see any reason not to give it a try.  At worst, it will fail and perhaps leave a partially-transferred user account on the G5.  If that happens, we can deal with it.
I'd make sure the connections are snug and secure, and try it.
Good luck, and keep us posted.
I don't have any backups of the G4 and I don't have an external drive and I don't know anyone who has one.
If your data is important to you, invest in one . . . soon, and start making regular backups.  They're not very expensive (some as cheap as $50, good ones perhaps $100). Disk drives fail, especially after a few years, other things go wrong, and even the most careful users make mistakes now and then.

  • To avoid roaming charges when traveling internationally, do i put my iphone on airplane mode only or do i also need to turn off data and voice roaming

I have an iphone 4 with sprint which can't take a sim card.  To avoid roaming charges while traveling internationally, do i put my phone on airplane mode.
I read you need to turn off cellular and voice data roaming as well but when I turn on airplane mode, it seems like roaming is automatically turned off.
    Is this true?

Turning on Airplane Mode will prevent the phone from getting roaming charges as it cant connect to a cell tower.
P.S you can have WiFi on and still be in Airplan Mode. Just turn Airplane Mode on first, then turn the WiFi on

  • What trigger to use when wanting to form commit information

Want to commit information from form to database.
Only appears I can use when button push
The on validate record does not facilitate form commit
In previous forms versions used a post update trigger
however this one is not valid/recommended anymore.
    THX IN ADVANCE

Thank you Sanjay for your response. I am currently using When Validate Trigger. It works for all the scenarios except when order line is cancelled.
When line cancelled I should rewrite the order quantity to 0 and save then only DFF's are updating to 0's.
    Thanks,

  • What accessory to use when connecting to Harman Kardon AVR

    Hi,
we use a Harman Kardon AVR 145 for our audio at home. Please can anyone advise me what accessory to use for connecting the iPad? We have the bridge for our iPod, but that is no good of course. Please advise on a cable to use. Thanx!

Sorry, but you'll have to either wait for someone owning that equipment to show up or for someone to take the time and trouble to look it up and see what sort of connection options are provided on it. Or, if you want to perhaps move the process on a bit more quickly, and seeing as how you have it right there, you could always provide that info.

  • What adaptor to use in S. America?

I´m in Argentina, trying to use a US Macbook. What type of plug adaptor do I need, specifically, so that I can SAFELY plug in and charge my Mac? Thanks!

hi there and welcome to Apple Discussions!
The adapter that comes with the MacBook can handle any amount of voltage between 100 and 240, so you should be fine. what you'll need is something to convert the US plug into the one used in Argentina. these are easy to come by. your best bet is one that is a multiple plug converter. they're usually black and relatively inexpensive. they don't convert the power, but only convert the type of plug needed. the MacBook charger will be able to handle the amount of power used in a standard plug in Argentina.
    hope that helps!

  • What compression to use when capturing?

Hi, I have DigiVOX A/D. I want to capture some TV programs. But I'm littel confused which compression (codec) to use and how to configure it.
If I select DVD PAL 4000 kb/s in settings, 10 secconds of video is an 5.4 MB mpeg file.
If I select AVI 2000 kb/s in settings, 10 secconds of video is an 159 MB avi file.
And the same size (about 158 MB avi file) is when I select MPEG4 2000 kb/s.
This is somehow strange. Should'n 2000 kb/s produce smaller file than 4000 kb/s?
What settings do you suggest? What codec, what resolution, bitrate and so on? I want it only for later watching so it doesn't have to be superb quality.
And another question is about audio coding. There are only PCM (with different settings) in audio settings. No MP3 or so. Is that OK?

juso, you need to install the full codec pack, you can get from http://www.free-codecs.com/
K-Lite is a good one. Most are decoder (playback) but it also include encoding (record, encode) packs.
Once you have the codec installed on your system, you can choose more than AVI, MP3 etc.
Depends on your CPU, if you have a powerful one, I'd use DivX or XVID or MPEG4 encoding, and mux with MP3.

  • Wifi email not working when travelling internationally?

On a recent trip to Canada (Dec 2014 - after update to 8.1.2), my email client did not work on either my iPhone or iPad when on WiFi. These were the same WiFi connections (family visits) that had previously worked in the summer but now email was not able to be received or sent. Internet and web-base email was fine but the IOS client did not send or receive. Is this a result of the 8.1.2 update? Not sure what other explanation is likely - there were multiple ISPs and WiFi networks involved. I tried multiple re-boots, removing and re-adding the accounts etc. but nothing worked until I drive back across the border into US cell coverage. After that, it is difficult to know whether email is being processed on WiFi or cellular when both are available - perhaps it is never using WiFi...

Having the same issue - also with a Bell phone (my boss'). He gets angry because when he arrives home or at the office he's getting a bunch of email. Now his bbm and his text are also only coming in on wifi. He has turned his wifi off in disgust.
I hope you find an answer - but I see your post is month old with nothing.

  • What will you use when forms is gone?

Looks like forms is coming to end in a few years.
If you company is like mine and uses forms a lot (our ERP is all forms), you should be already think alternatives to it.
The big problem is that rewrite all the code is very, very expensive.
So I ask. Have you think about it?
Did you know what you going to do?
I was thinking about ADF and APEX. Wich one will be, for say, the "Forms Replacement"?
Does Oracle has a plan for customers like us?
In short, what is your opinion on this?

As Thomas mentioned, everything must come to an end eventually. However for Oracle Forms, my expectation is that it will remain supported for many more years. And I plan to be on the top of the list of cheerleaders to encourage Oracle to keep it going and improving it. I encourage anyone wanting to see this or any product continue on, to make your feedback known. It is often customer feedback that helps a company determine what direction they will go next with a particular product.
Making statements like "it's going away" or "it is dead" does nothing more than create unnecessary panic. This is especially true when you are just speculating. Or are you? What would make you say
"Looks like forms is coming to end in a few years"How do you know this? Did someone in Oracle tell you this - who? It cannot be denied that the product has not seen much in the way of significant gui enhancements over the passed few years, but that means nothing relative to its life. With each new release, new features are included and many bugs fixes compared to previous versions are included. Generally, making significant changes to this very mature and mostly stable product are avoided in order to ensure its stability. Decisions to include new features or enhancements are carefully reviewed. If a requested new feature is something that is overwhelmingly desired by the customer community and it will not put the stability of the product at risk, it will be considered. However, the most likely new features to be included would be those which permit Forms to better integrate with other Oracle products or technolgies. For example Oracle recently added OAM support.
So, again... I encourage anyone who may be developing new Forms applications, maintaining existing ones, or completing a long running project with Forms to make yourself known. Help Oracle to understand why you use and want Oracle Forms rather than some other product or technology. Is it cost, ease of use, ability to create applications quickly, your comfort zone, or something else. Talk to your account managers and sales reps and tell them your likes, dislikes, and wish lists.
The views expressed in this posting are my own and do not necessarily reflect the views of Oracle.

  • What compression to use when Exporting HD video from final cut pro PAL setting

    Hi there
I'm trying to export my HD video from Final cut Pro so that I can edit it in DVD studio Pro. I initially exported it on H.264 setting however it then gives me the message 'NTSC assets cannot be imported into PAL projects' It was edited with PAL setting so I think it must be the conversion but i'm not sure which option to use.....been really struggling to get the 1 hour footage under 4.5gb without losing too much quality...
    Any advice greatly appreciated!
    thanks

    Just to add two suggestions.
    1) Consider putting your four movies on two disks.
    2) Bring your movies into Compressor and duplicate the stock DVD setting. In the Encoding pane of the Inspector, select a CBR and dial it back to around 6.2 to 6.5 Mbs. In Preview mark a small section and submit; you'll get 2 elementary streams, with m2v and AC3 extensions. Bring that into DVDSP and evaluate results. Adjust as necessary. (This is to avoid waiting out very long encodes and then having to start again from scratch if you get disappointing results.)
