What airport card do I need??

Have a 15" Titanium G4. Not sure what card I need or where to get it??
Any help?
Thanks,
Tim

Hi, Tim. If you want an Apple card, you need the original Airport card (802.11b). An Airport Extreme card (802.11g, later 802.11n) won't fit the slot or connect to your computer's antenna.
A better choice, perhaps, unless you will absolutely need to use your Powerbook's CardBus slot while you're wirelessly online, is to buy a third-party CardBus wireless adapter. Any of the three cards listed below will work transparently with Apple's own Airport software — no additional drivers needed. They will all give you better wireless reception at longer range than an Apple Airport card would, because their antennas are in the part of the cards that project about 3/4" outside the Tibook's metal case. The projecting end of the card can be at risk of physical damage, especially if you leave the card in place during transit, but that's the only drawback of these cards other than the fact that you can't use the CardBus slot for anything else while you're online.

Hello puckey12345. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I have a imac g3 with mac os x 10.1.What airport card will i need?
The iMac G3s with a clock speed of 400 MHz or faster, has an internal slot for the original AirPort card. The AirPort card adapter is also required to use the card in an iMac G3. The AirPort Extreme card is NOT compatible.

Instead of getting a wireless card for the Mac Pro, you might want to consider getting an 802.11ac wireless bridge device that would enable you to connect more than one device to it by Ethernet cable and to eventually take advantage of the faster 802.11ac wireless standard.

What video card do I need to make Photoshop CC 2014 to use 3D? I have NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB graphics.

    A couple of questions:
    1.  Have you tried resetting your preferences?
    2.  If you go to Preferences > Performance - is "Use Graphics Processor" enabled?  If not, can you select it?
Your system should be fine to support 3D in PS CC 2014.  Once I have more information from you we can move onto next steps if necessary.

    Hi
I have visit the Toshiba accessories website and I have found a information that some unit has always the wireless card. Did you check in the device manager if there is a wireless card?
Unfortunately I dont have found a exactly part number of the wireless card which is compatible but if you want to order one so I would recommend to contact the Toshiba service partner. There you can order the miniPCI which is 100% compatible with your unit.

  • HP ENVY 700-074 Desktop - what graphics card do I need to install to use a blu ray player?

I purchased an external blu ray player - "LG 14x external blu-ray/dvd writer super multi blue be14".  For some reason I thought my system was compatible.  However, it's not - apparently the Intel(R) 4600 won't work.  What graphics card would I need to install to allow using this blu-ray device?  What else do I need to know?

Ah, I should add, the Blu ray player's support site (for Cyberlink) suggested a pile of different drivers - 30 or 40, but didn't offer any specifics regarding my particular system. What I really need to know is what would be the best option for my particular system.

  • I have a Mac G4 (version=3.3)  How can I connect it to my BT Broadband.  It does not seem to have an AirPort card - do I need one and if so how do I get one?  Many thanks

I bought a Power Mac G4 (version=3.3) second hand from my company.  It is running Mac OS 10.2.8 and Microsoft Office X.  I wish to connect it to my BT broadband hub.  However, it does not appear to have an AirPort card and even if it did I was told that the BT hub mainly works with microsoft rather than apple products.  Can anyone advise me how I can connect and what products I need to buy?
    Many thanks

See http://www.airportcardsdirect.com/ these cards are cheap and not sold via DOA-Bay.

The PowerMac3,3 uses the original AirPort 802.11b card. It may also need a card adapter to enable it to mate with the internal connections - I'd have to check on that.
Not true. Those adaptors were intended for the iMac G3 (long outdated) and only the iMac G3. All G4 machines just take AP Cards the way they are.

You should also look into upgrading it to OS X "Tiger" but make sure you get the original retail install CD. It will be black with a large "X". Grey discs are machine specific and will not work.
Actually I HIGHLY recommend upgrading to OS X Leopard. Tiger is no longer supported by hardly anybody (Apple, Adobe, etc) and Leopard is still the minimum for most things nowadays. If you want more life out of this Mac, then I would highly recommend installing Leopard. And as mentioned above you NEED a Retail DVD. (The Leopard DVD has a little Purple in the Center of the DVD and a BLACK X in the center.

  • What airport card for MDD

I haven't looked inside, but do I need the old airport card for my MDD SP 1.25? I think it does not accept an extreme card....thought I read that only the models with 800 fw will work with the extreme card.
If anyone can confirm this, I'd appreciate it.....thanks

The Motorola WPCI810G 802.11g Wireless PCI Adapter is what I use and it works great in 10.3.9 with Airport Software 4.1, updating to the latest 4.2 Airport Software will "break" it. Then I believe there was a 4.3 update that claimed to fix the cards that were broken by the 4.2 update but it didn't take.
This happened to me but luckily I just reverted to a cloned copy of my system that had 4.1 on it.
I do vaguely recall it working in 10.3.7 but I'm not 100% sure on that.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problems with my AirPort card -- in dire need of help!

    Hello everyone.
Something very odd and equally horrible has just happened.
I've turned on my MacBook Pro 15" and - poof! - apparently it's as if the AirPort Card (which has worked perfectly well for over a year now) were no longer there, meaning that the computer just won't "see" it.
I really am at a loss to explain this because earlier in the afternoon I used my MacBook Pro as usual and everything was fine -- I didn't do anything besides surfing the Net, as I always do. Now I've turned it on and it's as if there were no AirPort Card in the computer.
The AirPort network, on the other hand, keeps working all right (I'm writing on another Mac on the same network).
What's wrong?!?!?! Is it a hardware issue? Is my Card simply busted? Or could it be a software issue (dunno - viruses or whatever else)??
    Thank you, I'm desperate!

It seems it won't be necessary -- this is beyond weird!
I've just re-turned on my Mac (which I had already tried to do a couple of times before posting my question, even allowing some time for the computer to cool off and relax, but unsuccessfully) and the AirPort Card is working again...what the bloody hel*?! Hopefully it is going to keep behaving properly for good, now!
Anyway, thank you so much for your help, I'll note down your suggestion in case it happens again in the future!
    Have a nice day

  • Which Airport card do I need for an iMac G4 Flat Screen 15"?

Hi, I have an iMac G4 (flat screen, with silver arm and round base), 15".
I'd be extremely grateful if someone could let me know which Airport card I need for this Mac and also whether or not I also require an adaptor. I have looked this up on the Apple site and also in 'The Flatscreen iMac for Dummies' book (I'm a complete technophobe, I'm afraid!), but am none the wiser.
If possible, model numbers for the Airport card and adaptor that I do need would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Jeremy

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and click on More Info, or if you're running Mac OS 9, choose Apple System Profiler from the Apple menu. Check the speed of the computer's CPU; if it is below 1GHz, you need the regular AirPort card, with the AirPort Extreme card being used on newer iMacs. No iMac G4 requires an adaptor to use an AirPort card.

  • Is an Airport card all I need?

Hi everyone: I have a 1.8 GHz 20" iMac G5 running Tiger 10.4.11. I didn't have an AirPort card installed when I bought it, but now I need one so that I can use my iMac for presentations when I'm away from home. (My network is not wireless at home except for an AirPort Express base station so that I can use my PowerBook anywhere in the house.)
Normally I would not lug my iMac around for presentations, but I don't have a projector to use with my laptop, so this will work for now. Anyway, my question is whether I'll need anything else in order to connect the iMac to the wireless network in the building where I'll be? And I would be looking for an 802.11b/g, right?
    Thanks for your help.

Another question: how do these compare with an AirPort card?

  • Which Airport card do I need for my G4?

I have a dual processor G4 (1.25 GHz), bought in March 2003 and want to set it up to use with a Netgear wireless router at home.
Can I just buy & install the current Airport Extreme card or will I need to trawl EBay auctions for an older Airport card?

The only PowerMac G4 model that can use an Airport Extreme card is the one with an 800Mbps Firewire interface. If this describes your PowerMac G4 model (the other specs your provided including purchase date and dual 1.25GHz certainly are consistent with you owing this model) then yes - you can install an Airport Extreme card into it.

  • Airport card MTU speed needs to be changed

How do I change the MTU speed on my airport card? Internet hangs and runs slow. Rouert is N1 and support says mtu should ne 1400. Cant figure out how to change it.

I had a similar problem; in the end I got tired of working with terminal because the changes are not permanent. I went Googling and found that the OSX utility application 'Cocktail' allows you to customise MTU settings permanently. There are several applications available, but I settled for the one mentioned. Works like a charm for me. Try it and see if it does for you.
