Can somebody please tell me what all goes under the "Documents
I have 8.35G of saved "Documents & Data" and i would like to know what all falls under this category and how i can decrease this storage.
Did you get a particular error when you ran the stored procedure?
As an aside, I would generall do this in static SQL via something like
SELECT *
FROM <<table name>>
WHERE (parameter_1 IS NULL OR
UPPER(column_1) LIKE UPPER(parameter_1))
AND (parameter_2 IS NULL OR
UPPER(column_2) LIKE UPPER(parameter_2))If you have not already created function-based indexes on UPPER(column_1), UPPER(column_2), etc. that would probably be a performance benefit.

Look and feel of self-service pages under Oracle Applications Manager (OAM)
Hi All,
After applying patches for upgrading the HRMS module from 12.1.3 to 12.1.5, look and feel of self-service pages under Oracle Applications Manager (OAM) changed means Buttons not appearing in proper manner. and look of pages are not in proper manner. This is happening for OAM self-service pages only.
Current HRMS patchset level : r12.hr_pf.b.delta.5
OS : RHEL 5.3 x86_64
Any idea please....
Thanks inadvance,
Regards,
900076.You need to ask your DBA to delete the cached stylesheets in /OA_HTML/cabo/styles/cache/...
You will also need to delete your temporary internet files.
Once both and deleted, re-access the page and you will see the updated stylesheets.
(Note: individual users may need to delete their temporary internet files too else they will see an old version cached on their computer)
Explanation: In new releases Oracle may introduce new additional OAF components. Each OAF component is assigned a shortcode/id by browsers in alphabetical order and a stylesheet generated.
If a new item is introduced, the shortcode/ids will change. However if an old version of the stylesheet still exists it will apply the wrong style to the wrong component. -
What is diff between oracle application server and weblogic server?
what is the exact difference between oracle application server and weblogic application server?
The difference between Oracle Application Server AND WebLogic Server has been discussed in a lot of forums dated 2008 and earlier comparing OAS10g with WebLogic10.0/WebLogic9.2
But, now since Oracle has taken over WebLogic, this is not really important.
Now, OAS has no further releases post 10g. WebLogic Server will be the Oracle's strategic application server going forward.
So, if your query is for choosing one of them for a new environment, you are better of with WebLogic Server 10.3.6 OR WebLogic Server 12g
As we will not have further releases of OAS and also OAS10g will be end of life soon, we recommend Oracle WebLogic Server.
If you still want to know the differences, here is one such old oracle documentation link that talks about it

What is difference between Oracle Application Server and OC4J
Thanks in advance
Regards
SunilOC4J is only the Oracle Container for Java, using a inner HTTP Server.
Oracle Application Server, the components depend of the installation type.
Components
1. OC4J : Oracle container for Java ... without inner HTTP Server, this component use Apache to presentation tier.
2. OC4J_SECURITY (SSO) : Single SingOn
3. Forms and Report Server, Wireless ....
4. Apache : Presentation Tier (use .so or .dll) for OC4J
All the components of this suite are controlled by the OPMN (This component is installed in the OC4J).
OPMN : Oracle Process Manager to control all the components. -
What are components of Oracle Application server ?
Hello Experts,
I am little confused about Oracle Application Server 10g.
I have done some research to collect the information about the Oracle Application Server 10g.
As for my study, The below are the key components of Oracle Application server.
1. Oracle HTTP Server. (Middle tier component)
2. OC4J (Middle tier component)
3. Oracle AS Webcache (Middle tier component)
4. Oracle AS Portal (Middle tier component)
5. Oracle BI (Middle tier component)
6. OID (Infra tier component)
7. Oracle AS Metadata Repository (Infra tier component)
Does that mean, if I install Oracle Application Server(both the middle tier and infra tier), I can get all the above components ?
If that is right, Are all these components be installed in separate individual oracle home's or in a single oracle home ?
I appreciate any responses.
Regards,
Ravi kPlease see the following note on Metalink for most updated Certification Matrix for the OS, your machine and Oracle AS products.
Note Id: 742649.1
If you are using an AMD 64bit machine, then paritcularly check line 88. If you have an intel, see particularly 125 and 126 to see the relevant patches to be applied before installation of your type of AS software.
hope that helps!

Dose OHW come with Oracle Application Server 10g?
I install Oracle Application Server with two instances (named: AS10131 and AS10g2). ohw.jar is found in:
\ AS10131\jee2\home\applications\ascontrol\ascontrol\WEB-INF\lib and
\ AS10g2\jee2\home\applications\ascontrol\ascontrol\WEB-INF\lib.
Is it means:
1. Server containers have OHW already?
2. I only need to implement OHW in my web application (developed iwith Jdeveloper)?OHW is not installed by default. You can download it from OTN. (http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/help/index.html).
The OHW you've found is part of the AS control application only.

Starting Oracle Application Server as a particular user under windows
Hi All,
I am wondering if there is any way of starting the Oracle Application Server with a users default operating system environment variables set.
The reason I ask this, is that we have deployed a webapp which contains a piece of software which needs to be run on the command line for generating reports using the reports 6i client (rwcli60). We have had issues with this in regards to the application not finding a proper service under Oracle Application Server.
Our company then had to revert going back to a Apache/Tomcat setting and deploying the same web app on the tomcat server. Originally we were getting the same error. As a consequence we decided to change the user who runs tomcat as the same user who runs the oracle reports 6i server. This worked.
Also of note is that when this was done, the tomcat server has ALL the environment settings as the os user. This can easily be seen by using the Runtime.exec("cmd /c set") command and printing its outputs. However executing the same command withan Oracle App Server results in a dramatically reduced environment to the logged in user who started the app server.
Any help would be most helpful.
Cheers
RodneyHi All,
From much research and experimenting to get this to work I looked at the java.lang.Runtime class and noticed that seperate processes can be started using this very important Java class.
The first thing that I experimented with was in regards to seeing the environment OC4J runs against. Using the java.lang.Runtime class I executed a standard "cmd /c set" command in my Windows environment, and noticed that Oracle Application Server uses its own environment and not a standard windows login environment for its OC4J containers. Apache Tomcat on the other hand uses the standard user login environment.
So to get the application to be able to work properly we needed to override the particular environment the process needed to be able to get it to work. There is a exec command which allows you to override completely the environment for a process you would like to run. This method call does not in any way shape or form change the standard OC4J environment. This was done by executing the same "set" but with the overriden environment. Note that no environment variables from the OC4J container are carried into this new environment.
Cheers

Data sources in deploying web app. to Oracle Application Server
I am using simple web application - JSP with BC4J (JDeveloper 9.0.5.1).
I want to configure my application to use Data Source instead of JDeveloper connection and deploy it to production database, so DB administrator will take care of username and password.
First, I create a new application module configuration that uses a data source instead of a JDeveloper connection with BC config. name TestAppModuleWithDS.
Then I modify my application client (DataBindings.cpx) to use the new configuration (TestAppModuleWithDS).
After that I create deployment profile and deploy to application server connection and try to test it on standalone server, and on production server together with my DBA.
But the application is not running, always displaying error messages...
Please what is the procedure and how to set Config of ApplModule.
It is working properly with embeded server, but on standalone server there is an error:

Thanks!iAS 1.0.x is StoneAge Technology (TM).
Using the E-Business Suite you should look into the newer versions of the Application Server. I believe that 10.1.2.x supports the EBS, otherwise 9.04 should do the trick. Webservice support is much better in the newer versions. 1.0.x is from around 2000/2001 so the Webservice technology back than was "different" :-)

Oracle Application Server 10g/Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g
Hi folks, This question related to migration/upgrade of Oracle Application Server infrastructure.
I see that the Oracle has come up with Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g. Is it the next release of Oracle Application Server 10g. I have the following questions. Appreciate if any one can provide answers to the following questions. Please correct me if my understanding of these oracle products is not right! Thanks
1. What is the future of Oracle Application Server?
2. Is it Oracle Fusion Middleware(OFM) 11g is the upgrade path if one need
to upgrade?
3. Is it expected that expected that customers need(if require) to move to OFM 11g?
4. Does OFM 10g comes with Oracle Application Server? If not what does
it comes with?
5. If it does not, what about customers having applications built using oracle forms and reports? Does OFG 11g
support Oracle forms and reports?
I understand that OFM 10g comes with Oracle web logic server!
Thanks in advance.
movvaTo run Forms and Reports in Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g you have to use the distribution "Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer" in the FMW 11g software pack.
The structure of what we used to call "the application server" has changed a bit however, in the following way:
- In 11g you need to install the Javaserver WebLogic software (version 10.3.3 for the current Forms 11g version 11.1.1.3) first.
In 10g the installation of the Javaserver (OC4J) was part of the App server install.
Note that you just have to install the software, the configuration script for creating a Forms app server instance creates the WebLogic domain (comparable with the OC4J instance) for you.
- In 11g the Fusion Middleware software installation is separate from the creation of an application server instance.
This is more convenient and comparable to Oracle database and Weblogic installation.
- The Fusion Middleware Configuration script installs two parts of the product: 1. A WebLogic Domain. 2. A Fusion Middleware instance.
The first contains everything related to Java, such as the servlet configuration file (formsweb.cfg), while the latter contains everything that has less to do with the Javaserver
- No more Infrastructure server
The Infrastructure server does not exist anymore. If you want to use Single Sign On with Forms/Reports 11g you can install Identity Management 10.1.4.3 (or use Identity Management 11g, and configure separately the 10.1.4.3 Single Sign On) or keep your old 10g Infrastructure installation.
During installation you just have to specify you want to use OID and SSO and it configures out of the box.
Under normal circumstances the same licenses apply to 10g and 11g (as long as you do not use WebLogic for other purposes). -
Need an advice in Oracle Application Server
Dear all,
I need your advice.....
What I have:
- 2 servers (Windows 2008 R2 64bit) .. planned as Application Servers
- Oracle 11g Database installed in a server
- forms (.fmx) , reports (.rdf) , compiled using Oracle 10g DS R2
- Oracle 10g Developer Suit R2
What I want:
- Install Oracle Application Server in the 2 servers available (Windows 2008 R2)
- make sure all (.fmx & .rdf) will work im these 2 servers
- take advantage of the powerful servers
What I did:
- Install Oracle 10g AS R2 in both servers
- configure webcache balance
What I faced:
- both servers worked fine except:
- (.fmx) files cannot be cached
- slow while opening (.fmx) files
- AGAIN, SLOW
ADVICE??
- Do I need to continue using this installation OR
- Is there any better installation & configuration that will help get (What I want:)
Kind RegardsHi zzalabri,
I know i have replied it late,
Oracle Web Cache uses cacheability rules to store documents. These rules fall into two categories:
1)Rules for static content, such as GIF, JPEG, or static HTML files
2)Rules for dynamically generated content created using technologies like Java Server Pages (JSP), Active Server Pages (ASP), PL/SQL Server Pages (PSP), Java Servlets, and Common Gateway Interface (CGI).
How can I make my server caches .fmx files using webcache (( webcache is configured already but it says "URL contains query string"))..
The below link would be helpful for setting caching rules for Oracle Webcache
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B15904_01/caching.1012/b14046/cache.htm
Is there any configuration for Application Server 10g R2 AFTER the fresh installation OR it works as it is ..
The default installation is self tuned to handle a load of approximately 200 users(it depends on network as well as ur DB)
I knew for sure what makes my server slow, that is because of background images in fmb & fmx files. when I removed them it became fast enough.
In my environment,i used to staore all this images in gif format(images size max would be 50kb)then store all these images in a jar file and load this jar file through archive_jini(Formsweb.cfg)
Hope this would be helpful,
Regards

Customizing workflows on oracle Applications
dear all,
i tried to custiomize workflows that comes with oracle applications but wiht no luck what changens requred to do such a thing.
fadiPaulo,
It is not a good security practice, but in your workflow global preferences (workflow-->administror workflow-->Administration) you will see workflow administrator as SYSADMIN (probably), you can change that to either * or workflow administror responsibility (whoever holds this responsibility or role is considered as admin). Once you make that you should be able see everybody's workflow processes.
Thanks

Hi,
I have got the solution........
go through the url:
http://docs.tpu.ru/docs/oracle/en/oas/10.1.2.0.2/aix.1012/relnotes.1012/relnotes/install.htm
Read these points:
Class Not Found Execption: 2.1.25
After doing all these four steps, restart your application server control.
Cause of this problem:
X Virtual Frame Buffer: 2.4.14

This is Captain Sinclair speaking. On behalf of my crew I'd like to welcome you aboard British Airways flight 602. 'If you look out of the windows on the side of the plane, you will observe that both engines are on fire. If you look out the windows on the other side you can see that the wing has fallen off. If you look towards the ocean you will see three people waving from a bright yellow lifeboat. That's me, the co-pilot and one of the stewardesses. This is a recorded message. Have a good flight!'
Thank you,
