What am I Licensed For?

Is there a way that in CM that I can see everything that I currently have a lics. for and how many lics i'm currently using?

Hey
ill try to explain using your example
for Cisco Unified Personal Communicator:
Units Consumed Per Device = 3 - amount of units that will be used if you have this device
Current Number of Devices = 0 - actual number of devices that you have of this type
Number of Units consumed = 0 - amount of units you are currently using up for these type of devices that reside on your network
therefore in your both examples you are NOT using any DULs.
also, you have -12 UNITS remaining, which means you have exceeded your uploaded licenses.
again to check how much are actually in use
1.for a general output - license report
2. for details on each type of device on your network (ie the Type and amount of phones you are using and the amount of units they consume - License Unit Calculator

  • What is the license for the MH DDK?

    Hello,
I am hoping to include a simple driver for the PCI-6220 acquisition card in a software distribution.  I would like to know what the license is for the whole DDK?  Usually this information is present in the download of the source code, but I saw no LICENSE.txt file or anything similar.  The only information I have found is that the Linux 2.6 kernel portion of the driver is licensed under BSD (in the NI-MHDDK Readme file).  However, there is no license for the rest of the package.  Is this code freely modifiable and redistributable?
    Thank you.

Hello, I've just hit on another license-related issue.
I've developing some Linux software on top of the NIRLP driver, using the NIMHDDK (osiBus) layer.
So far so good.  However, in modifying the NIRLP driver I've hit a legal wall:
You claim that the NIRLP driver is licensed with BSD:
    ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/daq/mhddk/readme.htm
However, the MODULE_LICENSE line in nirlpk.c says the following:
    MODULE_LICENSE("Copyright (c) 2006 National Instruments Corporation.  All Rights Reserved.");
Which does not specify BSD.  In any case, it hasn't been a problem since Linux has technically allowed linking against non-GPL licensed code.
However, there has been a movement to start marking new functions exported in the kernel API as "GPL-only" symbols.
I started modifying NIRLP to announce itself on sysfs, so that it would be noticed by udev and show up under /dev automatically.
This requires calling the function "class_create()".  When I compiled the module calling this function, I got the following error:
    make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/kernels/2.6.24.4-64.fc8-i686'
      Building modules, stage 2.
      MODPOST 1 modules
    FATAL: modpost: GPL-incompatible module nirlpk.ko uses GPL-only symbol 'class_create'
    make[2]: *** [__modpost] Error 1
    make[1]: *** [modules] Error 2
    make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/kernels/2.6.24.4-64.fc8-i686'
    make: *** [default] Error 2
So, technically it is now a bit of a problem that the module is BSD-licensed, since it is impossible to mark the module GPL in order to bypass this error.  (BSD is techically incompatible with GPL.)  The kernel documentation recommends that BSD code intended to be used in the kernel should be dual-licensed as BSD/GPL:
    http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/docs/lkml/
I highly recommend that NI consider dual-licensing the NIRLP driver for Linux if they intend to support it further, or allow their customers to modify it.  I believe this would be in the spirit of the original license, but would allow better integration with the direction in which Linux is moving.  Currently I'll have to instruct my users to manually create a device node instead of having it appear automatically, which is slightly annoying in terms of usage.
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • What is the license for an App Store App?  In-App Purchase?  Re-downloads?

    Hello All!
I purchased an iPhone 3G when they initially came out. My wife bought one (and uses my iTunes account on it exclusively) about six months later. I couldn't find and understand what the licensing agreement was about installing the same app on multiple devices. I wanted to be legal and do it right, but I knew I could download the same app on both phones (with a single purchase) since they both use the same iTunes account.
I asked the iTunes store support via e-mail for a clarification of the policy since I couldn't find or understand the legal version of application licensing through the iTunes store on the Apple website. I got the run-around and no simple yes or no answer after several back and forth replies. So, I posted a message here and received a number of replies telling me that it was legal (not just possible, but LEGAL according to the EULA and the iTunes Store's licensing agreement -- which does vary considerably with each type of product sold). I proceeded accordingly since then based on that information, since I couldn't get a simple yes or no answer from iTunes Support about the really simple question I asked them. I was just attacked about my total ignorance on a different website by a user when I questioned the change in In-App purchase policies. I know Apple has seen a spike in these purchases, but it's been driven (quite literally) by the GPS app subscriptions, not true in-app product purchases.
Up until now, I've avoided in-app purchaes because I just didn't like the fact that if it was lost due to some failure in hardware (or backups not working correctly, as that was a real problem with the iTunes software for some time for me), I had no ability to re-download it again, like the app itself. Now, with the policy change allowing for developers to avoid having to make a Lite version and make buying the full version an in-app purchase, this will make it unavoidable for certain applications if I want the full version.
*So, I've got several questions, and would appreciate an Apple employee response, in addition to others who really know (and aren't just doing what is possible). Is it legal for a purchased app to be installed on multiple devices concurrently? If that is legal, can an in-app purchase be installed on multiple devices concurrently (and is possible to make this download without additional charges)? And finally, can in-app purchaes be downloaded again if there is a hardware failure (and no valid backup to restore from) or do I have to buy it all over? If that last question has an answer of no, it's going to help me determine who I buy from.*
I'm not a fan of these in-app purchases since they weren't re-downloadable when problems occurred (as least that's what I was told), so as I said, I've avoided them. Obviously, I'm going to have to change that policy, but I want to know that my purchases will be safe. I like seeing the app on my computer's hard drive as a real file (and in iTunes as a listed application).
I'd appreciate someone clearing this up for me as I took the first time I asked as a basis for my decisions since then and now I'm being told that was all wrong. I wish there was a simple link, in non-legal terminology, that would explain the licensing rights for each type of product being sold in the iTunes store on the Apple website itself. If there is such a place, iTunes Support should have told me about that when I contacted them in the first place when my wife first got her phone (but instead, I had to get answers here because it seemed like Apple's support is just automated computers guessing at appropriate responses to questions). It was such a simple question and I couldn't get an answer, even after 2 or 3 back and forth replies. It was rediculous!
Would someone please clear this up for me?
    Thanks!
    Jim

    @wjosten:
I really appreciate your input, but I'd like an Apple employee response to rest my hat on (like JasonL, who has responded to my posts previously -- his user account is marked with an Apple icon and says Apple Employee on it). I know it's not official, but after getting attacked on another website for this question, I knew I had to head here. I couldn't get straight answer from Apple's iTunes Store Support, so I wanted to have someone attached to Apple sticking their neck out.
*A few questions for you, though, with the in-app purchases of both subsciptions (like with the GPS apps) and product additions, since I've never used them before because of fear of losing them. When you make an in-app purchase, and then I want to put it on my wife's phone, does it come up the same box saying it's free to download because you've already purchased it? How does this work with subscriptions, which would have to update the developer's servers somehow (to know how long to provide a service for)? I have MotionX GPS and need a subscription for esentially the app to work fully. I'm still in the 30-day free window, but it's not installed on my wife's phone. If I want to continue the service, will I be able to buy one subscription and just re-download it on her phone (and it would give her phone the same expiration date for her service from them)? Would it just update MotionX's system when the initial purchase is made and any additional downloads would be ignored (as long as they were made under my iTunes account)? This is particularly confusing because MotionX says you can stack subscriptions, so I would think each download would have to be paid for in order to do this. See what I mean?*
*I know about music being non-redownloadable, but also thought the same was true for all media except for apps (movies, TV shows, etc.). Is that also not true? It's not a big issue for me, since I don't get most of my media from iTunes, but I'd like to know the right answers when I do.*
Thanks for helping someone who doesn't understand Apple's SLA's or how to find them online on their system. Yes, I'm a PC, but am considering a Mac for the near future, but I've never had a lot of luck finding information in Apple's support knowledgebase at all. Microsoft's KB works better, but it just may be I'm used to it since I've used it for almost 20 years. I've only been using Apple's for going on 15 months.
Really, if you can clear up these other questions, I'd be happy to call it solved. I appreciate it a bunch!
    Take care!
    Jim

  • What Orace DB license for on-line shop?

    hi everyone,
    1. do you know what license type is needed when using oracle database in internet, accessed from web pages?
let's presume we have one account that web application connects to DB.
will it be "named user plus" or "processor" license?
    2. Also, please, explain to me, how to count sockets for Standard Edition license (where 4 are max).
    http://www.oracle.com/database/product_editions.html
Eg. RAC has 2 nodes, and each of them has 2 sockets with 2-core-processors.
4 sockets but 8 cores - is it OK?

I've just found, and I'm afraid it is rather that way:

This metric is mostly used in environments where the software users cannot be easily identified or counted, such as internet-based applications."
    Can anyone confirm?
even though there's only one user account the web-application uses...I am not sure how your application will be connecting the database. I am presuming a 3 Tier application and your application server will be connecting to database with a fixed user e.g. appl
But in this case you will be defining the connection pool at application server level e.g. 10. In that case every time application server will keep making 10 connections to database. So your user account will be 1 but number of connection will be more.
And apart from that, DBAs/developers will be connecting to database also.
So I would suggest you to contact Oracle Sales guy for the best deal.

  • What are the license conditions for the customer ?

What is the license agreement for the customer to use Beehiveonline ? Is it similar as the OUM Customer model copied below? thanks Francis
OUM Customer Program: The OUM Customer Program allows customers to obtain copies of the method for their internal use by contracting with Oracle for a services engagement of two weeks or longer. Customers who have a signed contract with Oracle and meet the engagement qualification criteria as published on Customer tab of the OUM Website, are permitted to download the current release of OUM for their perpetual use. They may obtain subsequent releases published during a renewable, three-year access period.

    Hi,
We do not have a license requirement for BeehiveOnline as this is a service provided by oracle for Oracle customers, partners etc. to allow them to work more efficiently with Oracle. It is not a system that the customer can control as the groups are maintained by the Oracle, contact.
We rely on the normal terms and conditions that all users sign up to when they create an oracle.com website account.
So in short - it is a free-to-use service licensed under the same agreement as the normal oracle.com websites acount.

  • Transferring CS4 from an old Mac to a new one, I get a notice saying "licensing for this product has stopped working" Error 150:30. Don't know what to do? Thanks.

I'm trying to migrate my CS4 from my old Mac to my new one. When trying to open photoshop, i get a message saying "Licensing for this product has stopped working." And "Error: 150:30" I don't know what to do from here. Can someone help me? Thanks.

"Migrating" and/or "transferring" an application is not just asking for trouble but demanding it!
Always install an Adobe application from scratch, from the original media: CD or download.

  • WCS annual support: what do I get for extra AP license packs?

I am not trying to be snide here, but I am having a difficult time understanding what new value I get for an extra SAU annual support package that my Cisco Partner says I now need, since I added additional AP licenses to the WCS software. This add-on SAU will more than double my annual support costs for the WCS software. I've called and emailed my partner several times on this, and basically it came down to "that's how Cisco does it now." I've also done on-line chat and a couple hours of phone  time with Cisco's pre-sales support, and technical support, but neither of them was able to give me any answer, and after passing me back and forth between their two divisions, they passed the buck back to my Cisco partner.
But, my question remains: What additional value do I get for this doubled price "Software Application support with Updates"? I can already download WCS software and WLC firmware. The only thing that has changed is my software's AP limit.
We've had WCS 5.0, with the original Base 50 AP license. The WCS server runs two WLC 4402 units, one set for 25 APs, and one for 50. We actually have 46 APs deployed. We've paid annual support since we first purchased this system, SAU software and upgrade support for the WCS software, and SmartNet hardware support for the WLCs. We have not had support for our actual AP hardware, as our partner recommended just buying spares instead, as a cheaper option. But, AP firmware updates come automagically with the WLC firmware updates.
We will soon be going beyond 50 APs, so we installed an 100 AP add-on license for the WCS. This changed the "About" box for the WCS software so it now says it is licensed for 150 permanent APs, instead of the original 50. (This add-on license cost more than $4,000, so I don't feel that I'm trying to get a bigger WCS system without paying for it.)
Recently I upgraded my WCS software to v5.2 and then to v6, and am currently at 6.0.196.0. I also upgraded my WLC firmware, which updated my APs. Everything seems to be working well, and these updates were all included in my basic SAU for WCS, which runs about $720 per year.
However, March is when our SmartNet renewals come due, and my partner says we now need to buy a second version of WCS SAU, supposedly a requirement with our additional 100 AP license. This add-on support ( part "CON-SAU-WLB100EX" ) goes for $1,080 per year, so my WCS annual support would now be $1,800 instead of $720.
As I said, I really don't understand what I'm getting for this additional money. We are a small enough college that I can't spend $1000 without justifying the expense. Already, with my existing WLC SmartNet payment I get firmware updates for my WLC and AP hardware, and with my existing WCS SAU payment I get software updates on the server. None of this seems to have changed with the additional AP license count.
(Note that although the WCS update package allows 100 more APs, my present WLC hardware really only allows an additional 25 APs.)
If nothing else, for $1,000 a year, Cisco should be able to give me a pithy explanation of what I am buying :-)
    In summary:
What does CON-SAU-WLB100EX actually support? Why do I need it?
What happens if I keep paying my CON-SAU-WCS support and my WLC support, but do not add this new charge? Is my WCS software still upgradeable?
Thanks for any insights you can provide,
    Steve Bohrer

I'm not selling support contracts, I just work in TAC. But here's my 2 cents :
If you have your license for your extra APs (which you said you already bought), your WCS will run just fine.
With regards to software download, either you have download access or you don't. The system can't prevent you to download WCS because it saw you had purchased more AP license than your support contract mentions. So download should still work in the future.
From a TAC perspective, if there is a support contract, we give support. We don't care at all how many APs people have.
So all considered, I have no idea what this extra support contract will bring you :-)
But since the Sales people in your region don't seem to gifted in explaining what they are selling, I would just go without that special contract unless they justify what it exactly adds and what you will lose if you don't take it. Probably if you don't say a word, they won't notice anything and will still support you nonetheless :-)

Is Firefox available for use in a Citrix environmet, what are the licensing implications

Licensing is easy: the [http://www.mozilla.org/MPL/2.0/ Mozilla Public License] is free and open. Naturally, it contains the customary disclaimers and limitations.
Implementation might be more of a challenge because Firefox presumes certain things about the system.
I suggest joining the Enterprise Working Group Mailing List to connect with an audience of corporate implementers on this issue and search the list archives.

  • What does "licensing for this product has stopped working, Error 150:30" indicte?

My CS4 has stopped working. I get the message..." licensing for this product has stopped working, Error 150:30"  After taking all the steps  listed and uninstalling CS4 and Reinstalling it I finally got it working again ( which took a couple of hours of down time)  Now ...every time I turn my computer off and back on, I get the same message again, and must go thru the 2 hours "fix"... any suggestions.  Adobe Support has been less than helpful with this... which is unusual.
    Photodeb

PhotoDeb, I have the same problem with my CS4 suite. I get the 150:30 error, "licensing has stopped working."
Fortunately, I'm subscribed to CC, so I can still open all CS4 files with CC apps.
BUT, I DO want to get my CS4 working again.
Have you been successful yet, in getting your CS4 back to working as it should?
I tried downloading the "License Repair Tool" [www.adobe.com/support/contact/licensing.html] file from Adobe, but it didn't work.
I have read that if it is downloaded with Safari (as I did), it won't work; that it has to be downloaded with Chrome or a browser other than Safari.
Also, I deleted the FLEXnet Publisher preferences folder. But, I now wish I had simply moved it to the Desktop, instead of trashing it entirely.
So far, I haven't done anything about reinstalling CS4.
QUESTION: From what you've learned, is it recommended to UNinstall CS4 suite (like you did) BEFORE reinstalling it?

it says:  You cannot use this product at this time.  You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT admin or Adobe customer support for help.
Well it seems I am only able to install this on a maximum of 3 computers so if I uninstall and reinstall I may have used up all three.  What caused this in the first place?

And most licenses extend to 2 machines; not 3.  Your computer's clock probably reset when you changed batteries. Is your computer's clock set to the correct date and time now?

  • What does "licensing for this product has stopped working"

What does "Licensing for this product has stopped working." mean?

    Hi ,
The error "Licensing for this product has stopped working" is related to the activation component of Creative Suite 3 and 4 software. It is related to a problem with the FlexNet Service.
This error often comes when the Adobe software is migrated from one computer to another rather then installing it properly.
Please check the link , it might be help:- http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/error-licensing-stopped-mac-os.html
However if you have used the migration tool to transfer the software I would recommend to install the software using the original media.

  • What kind of licensing is best for SQL?

We are about to install Business One 2007A for a new customer.  There will be about 10 users on the system, with one server.  Currently the customer has MS SQL 2005 Server on all of their workstations but not on the server.  They do not have information on the type of licensing they have for SQL.  Is there a way to tell what kind of license they have?  What kind is recommended for this configuration?  Is there a way to transfer the SQL software from one of the workstations to the server?  Any advice is appreciated.
    Marcia

MS SQL Express edition is free and probably what they have installed if they do not know and they are legal.  It is limited by the size of the database, # CPUs etc.  Goto  http://www.microsoft.com/Sqlserver/2005/en/us/compare-features.aspx for a full listing of features and limitations.  SQL 2008 has slmilar versioning.
You may want to use the database sizing tool on the SAP Portal to estimate the size of their database to determine if they need a workgroup or standard edition.
