What am I looking for

Hi,
I have a PowerBook G4, 1.67 Gz, 512 mB - running OS 10.4
I want to use the classic environment but it hasn't been loaded on and I have none of the original install discs.
I have found from other parts of this site that I need the original machine specific discs (not the retail version) that will contain the classic installer.
I rang Apple and they don't have any they could sell me and suggested I look ont the American ebay for a set.
What exactley should I be looking/asking for. I'm fairly new to Mac and have already bought some OS 9 discs that were useless.

***nmu: You're correct in believing your Powerbook can't start up in any version of OS 9 — not from any CD, DVD or hard drive. You can only use OS 9 in Classic mode on your machine. No OS 9 installer disc can be used to install Classic support on it, because every such disc must start up in OS 9.
You can obtain a workable installation of Classic support simply by copying the OS 9.2.2 System Folder to your Powerbook from another Mac that has one, if you have access to any such Mac. It sounds as though you may not.
If you can't do that, call Apple Customer Relations at 1-800-767-2775 (in the USA) and ask whether they can tell you the part number(s) of the discs that were originally supplied with your Powerbook (have your PB's serial number handy when you call). You'll need those part numbers to identify the right disc(s) for your medel if you're lucky enough to find them for sale somewhere.

Okay - let's cut to the chase...
If the Menu Bar (File, Edit... Help) shown in my screenshot below is not visible, use CTRL+B to display it. Then click on Help/Check for Updates. If one is available, you will be able to select it at this time.
Note the item at the bottom of the list; About iTunes. Selecting that will show you which version of iTunes you are using.
An alternative method to display the Menu Bar is click on the box in the top left of your iTunes window...

Based on what I can tell, you may have to go to the second hand market in order to get a MBP that will run a compatible OSX.

By using Inspector, i found the way to create and insert a scrolldown list ; however the list has to be created from inserting each line at a time; what i am looking for is a way of creating a scrolldown large(30 to 100 lines) list.

If you need to use this kind of objects, my guess is that it would be better to use an other application like libreOffice.
At an user request, I wrote an AppleScript grabbing the list from a table embedded in the Numbers document.

PDF bookmarks not expanding for 2 chapters in my 9-chapter book. What should I look for?

In my unstructured book, page, table and figure numbering is all correct. All 89 figures number correctly. I can't get the PDF bookmarks for chapters 2 and 8 correct. Each of the chapters have a bookmark, but no expanded bookmarks. They should have several. My TOC may have a clue as to what is wrong: only the links for chapter 1 work. All of the other chapters in the TOC show a link is present, but nothing happens with a click.
I've used the same formatting throughout the book; e.g., paragraph tags, master pages, etc. I only have 2 master pages – first and right. First is used for the first page of each chapter. When I save to PDF these 2 chapters separately, the chapter title ends up at the end of the bookmark list instead of the top. I know something is off, but I don't know what to look for. Tags that I don't see? Very frustrating.
I'm relatively new to FM and don't understand the tags in the reference pages. I haven't intentionally created any formatting tags in the reference pages. I only use them for special characters and repeated graphics.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. What I want for Christmas – a decent user manual for FM! I'd take a class, but I'm retiring in April.

The title bookmarks for the chapters won't be out of order in the book, but you indicated that they are (at the end of the sub-levels) for chapters 2 and 8 when done separately. If the text frames holding these titles were created after the main flow text frames, that would explain why things are things are misbehaving.
To specify the expanded bookmark level, you need to explicitly type in the level value that you want [ignore the drop down list and "Default" setting].
From the Book file, regenerate the TOC before you test the links. If you get a "File not found" after this, in the TOC, then something is really messed up i nhe TOC file. I would rename it and create a new one for the book. You can then import your formatting from the older, renamed version.

We already know that the ERP is a complex environment, so we are looking for a person that will be the technical head of the project, since our expertise is limited to Oracle Developer and database. But we don't know exactly what kind of expertise we should ask for to the candidates. Do you have any suggestions?

You should definitely look for someone with prior Oracle ERP full-cycle implementation experience (if he/she's going to be a project leader, I would look for 3-5 years' experience at least), and make sure that the person have specific expertise in the ERP modules you want to implement, e.g. just because someone knows GL and FA like the back of their hand does not necessarily mean that they know anything about OM or PO. And of course, it would be better if this person have experience with 11i, since there some additional features in 11i that is not in the older modules. Good luck.

Website Incompatibility, I Suspect Active-X, What Do I Look For In Source?

My son's middle school has a website on which they post each day's homework assignments, class notes and various other items of interest. His science teacher has a link to notes from her class. A link from the main page leads to her page which is a stylized facsimile of a page out of a notebook. On this page are two links which are dead to me on my Mac using Safari, Firefox and even IE. The teacher says she has no problem accessing her own site from her home. Everything else on my son's school's site works perfectly for me.
An "IT" office person at the school is trying to run down the problem for me. I have told her that I suspect that the science teacher has used some sort of webpage creation app or template that uses something incompatible with Macs. It tossed out the term Active-X as a possibility. I have looked at the source code for the page but do not know what to look for to nail down the problem. What are some things that would indicate to me the source of the incompatibility? The school is working with me, but I'd like to point them in the right direction.

I've pasted the source code surrounding one of the links. It is "Neuron notes" and occurs about midway down in these lines. I don't see anything suspicious, but then I'm only very slightly familiar with this stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

New iTunes search help!: I'd like to just start typing in the upper right search and have the list update like it did in older iTunes versions. Now it has little suggestions of WHAT IM NOT LOOKING FOR!

Remember the days when you were looking for that metallica song... you kind of knew the name... so you start typing it in the search, and that BIG WELL of music would whittle down with every character typed? the search covered titles, artists, genres, ANYTHING that was displaying. I know a lot of folks HATED this dynamic, but let's face it, it worked, and it worked WELL. And Apple's had us all get used to that dynamic for over a DECADE.
I get that times need to move foreward, but they went WAYYYYYYY too far with how the simple search box works now(upper right one) ... The columns of Title, Album, Artist, are still there, but they drastically change the layout and presentation with everything you search for... and newsflash, NOT EVERY SONG BELONGS TO A GENRE OR ALBUM OR ARTIST....
I'm the kind of guy that doesnt allow itunes to attempt to copy eveything into hundreds of folders. I already have it all pretty well organized...Lots of my music are soundbytes that I just had in the main widow of iTunes. Sure they'd be buried in the thousands of other songs, but with a click of a key I could get to it... now iTunes ONLY seems to try searching things that are in albums, genres, labeled so specifically that I would have to take a month off JUST to start catalogging my music the way iTunes wants... Even THEN only showing me a small number of choices in the search bar .... like "Do you want these 4 songs you DIDNT search in the invisible queue next?" "Did you mean all this other sh*t that you DIDNT search for?" **** I used to be able to find almost ANY song with like 3 keystrokes. if I type in "Zelda" ... (looking for that obscure live Zelda acoustic I recorded with my phone that I dont have the band name to) It suggests EVERYTHING else BUT that song... whereas before it would just list the 20 or so ANYTHINGS I have loaded into itunes with that string of letters in it.
Anyone else seem to have this issue? Is the OLD easy to search buried in the furthest preference trenches to TRY to weed out old dogs such as myself, who were able to master the crappy UI iTunes has neglected to give a **** about in the past?

Sometimes you want to just to search something that specific. Like if I am searching "ebay" I want the address and site for ebay to appear not everyone of my previous emails reguarding Ebay or searches in regards to ebay and this is all that pops up.
