What and HOW to turn off everything but Mainstage/Logic

Hey, I'll be using mainstage 2 in a live show tomorrow evening. Everything is set up and working perfectly, but I heard that it was advisable to to find anything and everything else on my mac that was not required to run Mainstage 2 and turn it off. Obvious things... airport, mobile me sync, etc. Is there a master list somewhere of all the stuff that can and should be turned off to optimize system performance?

"Sleep" and "lock" are the same thing where an iPhone is concerned. The only other option is passcode lock.

in System Preferences make sure FileVault is off, i'd turn off AirPort, and make sure Energy Saver is set to it's least restrictive settings (like not allowing the hard drive to sleep)

The only way is to login to iCloud with your computer browser and wipe the iPhone.
If you can't then you have a brick, Apple won't help and AL cannot be bypass.

My iphone 5 doesnt however.
But to Stop Launch when your apple device is connected, 1. connect your iPhoneto your computer, 2.Go to the Summary Page, 3. uncheck the box "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected" and then your good for that device.

If the SIM card in the phone is disabled, you will not be able to use it as a phone.

Turning off everything but Wifi?

I was wondering if you could turn off 3G, n all of that and leave it just on Wifi so I don't go over on my usage. I have the iPhone 4 and I was wondering if I could do that.

in Settings, turn Airplane mode on and then switch the Wifi back on. That will prevent you from going over on usage, but don't forget that you won't get text messages or calls while in Airplane mode.

Verbose Java Error Message and How to Turn Off

Hello Everyone,
Does anyone know of a way to turn off the Verbose Java Error messages that are generated via the Portal? Is there a Portal parameter or perhaps a parameter in the Config tool that can be used? I am simply trying to limit what is displayed to the user when error messages are generated.

Hi,
you mean the cryptic error message like:
Portal runtime error
Exception ID
There's a PAR: com.sap.portal.runtime.system.hooks.par
You should check the code, maybe this is the application responsible for these error message. If so, you'd have to make the modifcations there.

How to Turn Off Screen, but NOT Auto-Lock phone?

I have an iPhone 5S. I have auto-lock set to 5 minutes. I often want to shut the screen for a short period (less than 5 minutes) to conserve the battery and to put it in my pocket while making sure I don't do something on the phone. As such, I press the sleep button at the top. No matter how quickly I turn the phone back on (by pressing the sleep button again) it is now locked. I find this *very* annoying. Obviously, the "Sleep button" doesn't just put the phone to sleep, but locks it too *despite* the auto-lock setting. Is there any way to really just "sleep" the phone withOUT turning on the lock?

How to turn OFF quicktime but leave installed?

I need quick time installed to use Itunes per Apple. But when trying to download podcasts on some web sites, quicktime just automatically plays the podcast instead of letting me save the podcast as a file. if I uninstall quicktime my problem goes away.

or when you click on the homescreen, uncheck mobile network.
You can keep both on, but when you are on WiFi, if the blackberry symbol is next to the WiFi icon, then you are using that connection for services vs your mobile network.

HT201257 Fan on my MacBook Pro came on and will not turn off, what could be wrong or how do I fix?

The fan on my MacBook Pro came on out of no where and will not turn off. The computer is not heated nor are any applications running in the background. The seems to be going on full blast. Before now it worked fine. Would turn on or off when need. Please advice what could be wrong or if ther is anything I can do to fix or troubleshoot. Computer is not even a year old.

LexSchellings: Now I know why you wished me luck and hoped everything would clear up asap hehe. I've been doing some reading and it is quite possible that my MBP late 2011 is sadly part of the probably million of MBP's out there with logic board issues. I am glad I am under warranty (still have to wait and see what apple techs decide on my comp) and sad that my comp will probably be done with in a few years. Not even 4 as it turns out. I can honestly say my old iBook G4 was amazing gave me 8 great years. Never had an issue with it.
Something funny is that about 10 to 15 mins ago the fan on my comp (the only indicator I got of any issue going on) quite down and the comp was working perfect. It has been running really slow since I noticed the fan being over worked even if nothing is running. Then it started up again and once again quite down, functioned well for like 10 seconds and started being noisy and slow again.
However there is an issue that bugs me, if according to my AHT results it is a faulty logic board how come my comp is still functioning? Of course being slow and noisy. I've read on some sad stories on here
Wish me more luck and send me lots of good vives. Going to need them. Especially if I end up not being able to fix the comp.

As the article you attached says, "Within iTunes, select the device, then select the Photos pane and turn off syncing."
In other words, once you click on the device in iTunes on your computer (with the iPhone attached), you then click "Photos" near the top and uncheck the "sync photos" box.
Then you sync your device by clicking something in the lower right (it probably says "Apply", but it might say "Sync").
