1. Purchase Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac > http://www.microsoft.com/mac
2. Purchase “Numbers“ on the App Store.
3. Download LibreOffice > http://www.libreoffice.org
Also, Microsoft Office (it contains Excel for Mac) and Numbers can create documents using Excel format, but LibreOffice is completely free

I'm wanting to upgrade my memory (I currently have 512 mb, WAY too slow for what I'm using it for. Apparently I have 2 sticks of 256 mb. I'm wanting to upgrade to 2gb, or possible even 4gb if possible. I don't know where I can buy some ram. Apparently there is a specific kind of ram that I need to get, and I don't know what it is, or where to get it. Any help would be appreciated.

Many Thanks.I'd like to chime in and offer a differing opinion. The size factor of all SSD's don't leave much to question, but there are a couple other things that you can research and take into account.
The biggest thing to look for after the capcity you want is the connection speed. Your Macbook is last generation compatible with SATA 3.0Gbs transfer speeds, and while you can still utilize an SSD with SATA 6.0Gbs, your connection won't be able to fully utilize the full speed of such an SSD.
The upside is that SATA 3.0Gbs SSD's are selling for much less now on ebay and on Amazon since they are last generation, so you can pick one up on a budget. If money is not an issue and you'd like to spend a bit more for the latest generation SSD that you can transplant into the laptop you want to purchase after your mid 2009, a current generation SATA 6.0Gbs SSD is going to work fine and will also work great in whatever you upgrade to. -

I would stick to SSDs like the OCZ Vertex 3, Samsung 840, or OWC Mercury 6G. You may also care to look at the DataDoubler from OWC. A bracket that lets you install both an SSD and your existing HDD in the optical bay by removing the DVD drive. -
I moved from the UK to the US with my iMac. What do I need to buy for the UK iMac to work in the US? A power convertor? A plug convertor? or Both? I had previously read that you only need a plug convertor (three prong to two prong). But I'm terrified that my iMac will blow up if I only use a plug convertor and not some sort of voltage convertor (Transformer).
I'm not really hardware tech savy - is it easy to pop out the UK power cable and plug in the US power cable? Or do I need to get someone like an iMac support guy to do this? And because of the voltage difference, is there something built into the iMac that takes care of the voltage difference for me? Thanks!!

Need a printer for my old iBook (old apps won't translate) but also for a MacBook Pro, 10.6.8! Anything compatible?
If I understand this correctly, you wish to print from the iBook under Mac OS 9.2.x and from the MacBook Pro under Mac OS X 10.6.8 (no AppleTalk support in the latter).
What type of printer did you have in mind? Does it have to be colour? Otherwise, a monochrome laser printer may be the best choice (high print quality and a low per page cost). A networkable PostScript printer may be the most compatible. Additional information would make it easier for someone here to suggest a solution.
If you would be willing to accept some extra work and certain limitations, another way could possibly be to "print" to a PDF file on the iBook via a printer driver called PrintToPDF, and then transfer this file to the MacBook Pro and carry out the "real" printing there.

Like Steve said, yes you need a printer ad it will depend on the type of shirts you are talking about. A popular method is thermal transfer, traditional method is silk screen, and there are some inkjet printers that can print direct on fabric and then the pieces are sewn together post printing. Typically you create the artwork in Illustrator and then send it to the output device ( printer ). What type of garments are you planing to produce?

China phones should be purchased there as they use unique carrier settings. Phones from other countries may not work properly.
Also, the iPhone warranty is not international and won't be valid outside the country where the phone was purchased. -

There will always be threats to your information security associated with using any Internet - connected communications tool:
You can mitigate those threats by following commonsense practices
Delegating that responsibility to software is an ineffective defense
Assuming that any product will protect you from those threats is a hazardous attitude that is likely to result in neglecting point #1 above.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "clean up", "speed up", "optimize", "boost" or "accelerate" your Mac; to "wash" it, "tune" it, or to make it "shiny". Those claims are absurd.Such products are very aggressively marketed. They are all scams.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources.
Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
"Questionable sources" include but are not limited to spontaneously appearing web pages or popups, download hosting sites such as C net dot com, Softonic dot com, Soft pedia dot com, Download dot com, Mac Update dot com, or any other site whose revenue is primarily derived from junk product advertisements.
If you need to install software that isn't available from the Mac App Store, obtain it only from legitimate sources authorized by the software's developer.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.

If you ever receive a popup window indicating that your Mac is infected with some ick or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
The same goes for a spontaneously appearing dialog insisting that you upgrade your video player right this instant. Such popups are frequently associated with sites that promise to deliver "free" movies or other copyrighted content that is not normally "free".
The more insistent it is that you upgrade or install something, the more likely it is to be a scam. Close the window or tab and forget it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. Most of these attempts are pathetic and are easily recognized, but that hasn't stopped prominent public figures from recently succumbing to this age-old scam.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind. -

i am trying to now install a free trial of indesign because despite paying $50+ a month for this supposed service I cannot open an indesign file I've been sent and need to do work on it urgently. I have now signed in again for a free one month trial and it claims to be downloading but this is not happening at all.
