What Apple Care for MBP Retina 15" Mid 2012 ?

Sorry for this dumb posting, but there are existing two different apple cares when i search for it:
Item Numbers: MD013D/A or MF218D/A.
Maybe someone could help me and say what worked for him. I have an MBP 15" Mid 2012 with Retina (short back after a repair - got 8 dead pixels...).
Thanks for your help!

You are referencing German versions? I am not familiar with those part numbers. In the US, the current appropriate Applecare part number is MD012LL/A for your machine; however, I have seen (and purchased) the older version of Applecare for a Mac if it was offered at a lower price. Whenever a new Mac is introduced, the Applecare product numbers are updated, but there may be third party sellers which still have the older product in stock. In any case, as long as your part numbers are both for the appropriate machine and say "Applecare for 15" MBP, etc", it should be fine.
Having said all that, the question comes up: if your machine was purchased in 2012, your one year warranty has expired and you can only purchase and register Applecare during the original warranty period.

  • Why has the price of apple care for MBP retina increased?

A couple of weeks ago I'm so sure it was quoted as approx $250, now it is $429! I'm looking at the 2.3 gHz model and using the Australian website both times... My main concern is has the price increased because there are alot of problems with the MBP retina?

    250 is for Air & 13" models
    350 for 15-17" and Retina
Just where are you seeing 429. Post a link.

  • Worth getting apple care for the Retina model?

Is it worth geting apple care for the Retina models? have read they can be dodgy...
Since I will have a one year warrenty could I just skip out on apple care untill a month before the warrenty expires as the warrenty will cover all my needs?

From the sounds of it, the Retina 2012 model is so not worth it. I assume that the 2012 retina model is almost like a testing ground to build on future retina models so there will be a lot of bugs to sort out... i assume such bugs like program capabilities with retina will be sorted out by the time the 2013 model comes around?
Have to agree completely with that.
If I was in the market for a new Mac it certainly would not be one of the Retina models. Way to expense for what you get and then there are all the problems with it.
You know I've been doing my work and having fun on computer for over 20 years and never needed a screen like the Retina to actually get things done and make some money.

  • MBP Retina 15'' mid 2012 vs MBP Retina 15'' mid 2014

    Hi there,
I have a Mackbook Pro Retina 15'' mid 2012 and I am thinking on upgrading to a Mackbook Pro Retina 15'' mid 2014 (I believe it is the latest version), but I wanted to know your opinion on the specs, which is better and if its worth the try?
I know that there are some pretty significant differences between both, but the mid 2014 brings differences that some find not very good.
Can you please give me your honest opinion?
    Thanks in advance

The only significant difference that I am aware of is that the new MBPs have PCIe storage and Ivy Bridge CPUs replaced by Haswell CPUs.  That said, if you look at the benchmark score, i see that the differences are not that dramatic and even more important, in real world operation, the differences would be noticeable only when running very, very resource intensive applications.

In my opinion, a new one is not warranted, but it is your money, not mine.
    Ciao.

  • Location of microphones on MBP Retina 15" mid-2012?

On the MacBook Pro 15-inch mid-2012, where are the built-in microphones? I've seen references to dual mics on the left side (two pin holes to the right of the audio jack) and I've seen references to internal. Mine does not have the external pin holes, so they must be internal, but where, exactly, are they? I've tried finding an answer but have come up empty.

Have a look around here. There are many threads on the various pro's and cons of LG -v- Samsung screens, both 1st generation and 2nd.

  • Why my apple care for iphone doesn't transfer to my new phone after I claim a new one from apple store ?

2 days ago my iphone fall into a sink full of water. Yesterday I went to apple store and ask for apple care for iphone and they have it. So, I bought it and registered it right away since my iphone still be in a garentee and still not surpass one year usage. Then they told me that my iphone problem considered in a "physical damage case" which they have a policy for claiming a new iphone and pay some fee. After I got my new iphone, they said that all the information and phone data which is registered into apple system about the phone and the user and bla bla bla will transfer to my new iphone. Today, I just check my phone serial number in "support & coverage " column and I found that all the phone data in apple system is already transfered from the old one to the new one EXCEPT the data of apple care that I already registered before I claimed the new phone. Now, the question is " What can I do ? " and " will it be transferd to my new iphone or I have to buy a new apple care for my NEW PHONE That I got from their service "

Placing your iPhone in the toilet was the correct thing to do but you should have purchased an android phone instead. That would have solved these issues. :-)

  • How can I register Apple care for my iPad if my ipad's warranty is not expire yet?

Apple care for my iPad will be expire in November 14, 2013. I want to extend my iPad's warranty. I already bought Apple Care warranty but when I register online it said I already had a warranty for my iPad. The question is, how can I extend my iPad's warranty?

You can only buy apple care once to extend your original warranty from one year to two. You can't keep reupping it every year if I'm understanding that's what you're trying to do.
After your device is two years old it's out of warranty and not eligible for any warranty from Apple (some retailers sell you up to 3 years of coverage, but you had to get that with the device)

  • Can I purchase apple care for time capsule that is less than 90 days old?

can I purchase apple care for time capsule that is less than 90 days old?

    Sure enough...
The 90 day period basically applies for telephone support if you don't have Apple Care (a three year apple hardware/apple software coverage that would be similar to an extended warranty for your TV) with the outstanding feature that you have unlimited telephone support for the entire 3 year period beginning when your Mac was first purchased.
Your situation is similar to mine: I bought my MBP this august and just (literally) bought the 2TB TC. So the three year period began when the Mac was purchased and will run out when the MBP reaches it's exact 3 year anniversary. I went 4 or 5 levels above the sales staff and reached an individual at Apple whose exact title is: Sales & Service Management Representive. The first question I asked was is my TC covered under Apple Care and for how long, etc.: as the TC (as well as the MBP) have only a limited1 year warranty without Apple Care.
If you've been following the posts on this exact site and several others, you'll see many upon many TC's experience a premature death around 18-24 months. So IMHO I think Apple Care is a good deal: coverage for your Mac as well as the TC (double coverage).
On a lighter note something like double your pleasure double your fun: Xerox your paycheck!
    cheers...

  • What's the power Adapter for Macbook pro 13inch Mid 2012

What's the power Adapter for Macbook pro 13inch Mid 2012 with core i-7, 2.9ghz, 8Gb ram?
AFAIK it should be a 60wat Megasafe power adapter.
But mine shipped with a 45Watt Megasafe. I got it as a Gift from my friend.
    Thanks in Advance.

    mmaumio wrote:
60W MagSafe power adapter with "L" style connector
This should be my Adapter right?
    Yes.
There is a drawback in addition to taking a longer time to charge up your MBP.  In unusual instances when using your MBP with power adapter attached, and running a very heavy load on the CPU/GPU, the MBP will require additional electrical resources in addition to what the power adapter can provide.  It will then draw upon the battery.  What this means is that using a 45 watt adapter, these conditions are more likely to occur.
Using a 45 watt adapter should not harm your MBP as such.
    Ciao.

  • If I get apple care for my iphone 4...

Hi there, if I get apple care for my iphone 4 (next up to be discontinued) and it breaks within the 2 year coverage and after it is discontinued what will happen?
Will I be reimbursed, given a refurbished phone, a newer model etc. etc.

Apple replaces devices like for like. For example, they no longer sell iPhone 3GS's but if you had one serviced right now it would be replaced by the exact same model.

  • Apple Care+ for iPhone 5S & Apple Care Protection plan for MacBook

    Hello,
I have a question regarding the apple care+ for iPhone and the Apple Care Protection plan for MacBook pro.
Since I will soon be in Hong Kong, I intend to buy the iPhone 5S due to great savings compared to my come country.
However, I have a question regarding the warranty which confuses me a bit.
    1) If I buy the iPhone 5S and the Apple care+, does that mean I will be covered world wide?
I am from Denmark, and the applecare is currently not available from the Danish apple store. but does this imply that I will not be covered when I am in Denmark, in case of an incident?
If not, what can one do? Should one ship it to an apple repair somewhere in a European country that is covered by the Applecare protection plan for iPhone?
    2) And the same question goes for the AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook - will a MacBook with the protection plan bought from Hong Kong, and imported to Denmark, be covered world wide, or what limitations does it have?
I was trying to look through the terms and conditions on the Hong Kong website, however, it does seem rather intransparent some times.
    3) Finally, I have a question about purchasing Apple equipment from the physical Apple store in Hong Kong. As I am a student, I would of course like to have the student prices - should there be any problems getting this price from the physical apple store, or can one only get it from online purchases? Is a valid student ID sufficient proof of student status?
    Regards,
    Michael

    Start here:
    Apple - Support - AppleCare+ - iPhone
    Apple - Support - AppleCare
From each of those sites you should be able to discover what if any differences may prevail depending upon the country of purchase.
Apple's warranties may not be honored outside of the country where the equipment was purchased. I have no way of knowing whether hardware purchased in Hong Kong will have a warranty honored in Denmark.
If you have a valid student ID then the academic discount should be honored in the Hong Kong Apple Store.

  • Apple Care+ for iPhone 4S (with Sprint)

I also have an Apple Care+ question that I cannot seem to find the answer to. The carrier will be Sprint, however I don't believe that matters for my question.
The Sprint representative that I was talking to the other day said that even though Apple Care + covers accidental damage (I have read the official product description) that it does not cover screen breakage. And that if you crack the glass screen you still have to either pay to have it replaced by a third party or purchase a new phone at the unsubsidized price. I found that comment interesting but I did not want to challenge her on the subject.
I do not see anything in the Terms and Conditions that excludes the breaking of the screen.
Did I miss that section in the Terms and Conditions? Is what she was telling me true? I see that as the #1 reason to purchase Apple Care+ for the unit.
    Thanks,
    Timm

If you want to return your iPhone, you must do so through whoever you purchased the iPhone from. If that was someone other than an Apple Store, either online or physical, then that dealer's return policies will apply; Apple will have nothing to say about it. You may have to talk to Sprint in regards to your contract with them. I believe you have 30 days to return your phone and cancel your contract, but I'm not certain about Sprint.
iTunes works fine under Windows on many, many systems, including Acer. Perhaps if you'll post details here, someone can help you sort things out. The thread you refer discusses an earlier version of iTunes and probably no longer applies even if that were the problem on your system, though I cannot say with certainty.  Note that if you are running Windows 7 Starter on your netbook, that version is reported to have problems with a lot of software, not just iTunes. Many people have installed and run iTunes quite successfully, though.
they claim iTunes is a whole seperate brand from Apple computers they know nothing about
I don't know who you talked to, but either there was a misunderstanding - the statement would apply perhaps to the iTunes Store, but not to iTunes as a program - or that person was an idiot. iTunes, the program, is most definitely an Apple product and should be supported fully by the Apple Store technical staff.
    Regards.

  • My ipod 4 has apple care for 1 year i just got it can i get a new one because it broke and i pay for the apple care can i get a newe one

my ipod 4g has the apple care for 1 year can you get a new one for it because something happen to it the mirrer broke yes or no

AIf the iPod broke because of a defect then yes, Apple will replace the iPod if it is within the warranty period.  A broken/cracked screen is not covered.  However, sometimes if you make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store they will exchange your iPod at no cost if it has a broken/cracked screen.

  • Does apple care for macbook pro cover water damage?

I just wanted to know if apple care for Macbok pro covers water damage. I mean, it should seeing as I paid over $200 for it.

No. AppleCare is an extension to the warranty. The warranty does NOT cover damage only material and workmanship of the ortiginal product.
