.xpi is the extension for Firefox extensions (add ons), not safari, which is looking for .safariextz. You are downloading the extension for the wrong browser. I did give you a link to download the safari version above. Here it is again.
Of course if you are using FF then you have the .xpi so drop it on FF add ons window to install it in FF.
You didn't originally specify which browser you are using so I just assumed it was Safari.
And if it is neither FF or Safari then Ghostery has extensions for a wide variety of other browsers. See here.

Normally you just double-click on them and they open! The application that does this is "Archive Utility". Located in /System/Library/CoreServices .

You can go directly to flip4mac.com, to get wmv codec for quicktime, but it only allows you to play unprotected wmv files (wmv v9 I guess).
For realvideo, there is a realvideo mac player, on real website. Just install it...

It appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

I am trying to download a trial version of CC Illustrator and Photoshop (for work) on my own desktop. I'm part of an adobe work group. When I click on the link, "Get here to get started" I get a prompt box in response, called Creative Cloud (URI Handler) which prompts me to "Choose an Application" with a Choose button. When I click on that button I come to what looks like an empty Applications Folder with a message that says, "No items match your search" I don't know what to do next. Should I see Adobe Illustrator or something?

When I open a link to a doc file, it opens in Microsoft Office 2010 as a .bmp file. I opened Firefox options to change what application should be used to open doc files, but it only gives me the option of the general Microsoft Office, not Microsoft Word.

This did not happen on my laptop when I installed the Microsoft Office home & student edition, and my laptop also has Windows 7 and I use Firefox. Please help!

This sounds like a rediculous question. Also you might not think it was applicable to windows compatibility but it is. I downloaded a dmg of a program called "WINE" (stands for WINE Is Not an Emulator). In it, it has a file called Wine.bundle. Well when I double click on it, it asks me what program I should use to open it. I frankly have no idea... I mean I thought .bundles were just something it opened up. Just like an exe (or more like a zip file I guess) on a windows machine. It's really annoying... I just wanna play a game...:(

The simple and short answer is that .bundle files are helpers for something else to use. They're not necessarily the "application" that you would double-click and execute.
Your version of Wine may require that X11 also be installed from your Mac OS X installer disks.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Okay, so I just got a iMac, and I'm verrry new to them (I know nothing about them). I'm pretty sure its a g5 powermac and it has Mac OSX. I'm trying to install a Netgear N300 Wireless USB adapter (its a WNA3100). I tried to run the installment cd but it said "an application has not yet been chosen to run this, which would you like to choose). I've tried everything! What application should I use? I remember the OS X Internet software guiding me through the very easy and fast connection.
However, it did come with a Mac driver and it is of course possible that I did install it at the time and don't remember doing so any more. But I'd like to think that is not the case.
