What apps won't work with maverick?

i am about to update to Maverick, aere there any apps that won't function with Maverick?

It is far from a complete list but http://roaringapps.com/apps:table is a good starting point. It should not be considered 100% accurate.
Uninstall any and all "anti-virus" or "cleaning" apps that should not be installed on any Mac, and back up your system as a precaution against the unexpected. Merely having a backup seems to preclude the need to ever require one.

banking apps won't work in mavericks 10.9.1 on mackbook air

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
This is more a function of your bank and it's decision to use some non-standard Windows programing than it is an issue with your MBA.
If you are talking about accessing a financial site through Safari you could try using Firefox. Sometimes Firefox plays better on a Windows WYSIWYG written web page than Safari. A second workaround (but by no means a desirable one) would be to run Windows under emulation or Bootcamp. This means you have to obtain a legitimate copy of Windows OS.

  • Flash won't work with Maverick

I have tried installing flash several times, downloading updates, managers and still can not get flash to work with Maverick.  Is there an update I'm missing or does it just not work with Maverick?

Works just fine. In Safari, Firefox, Opera, iCab, OmniWeb, SeaMonkey, and Chrome.
    I assume you're suing Safari:
If Plug-ins are allowed, then I recommend doing a "clean install" using the latest FULL installer: Flash Player 120.0.047 (Mac OS X) and the illustrated instructions here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1343084

  • Printer won't work with Mavericks

Since downloading Mavericks, my HP printer won't work--at the office AND at home.  Please help.
I've done everything I think was suggested from removing HP software, reseting printing, factory default of printer--everything!
    Please help!

I guess from reading your message that Mavericks just hasn't got the drivers from HP to support this.  You don't specify what model printer you are using but I would suggest that this issue here is that either your PH printer is an old model or that you need to go looking towards the HP website and see what their responses are to providing the appropriate drivers.  You're not alone sadly and this is the problem when you move forward with the times and the ancilliary equipment you have come to rely on is no longer up to speed.  Good luck!

  • What MIDI interface hardware works with Mavericks?

The usual frustrations when anything is upgraded:  other things stop working.  My Presonus Firebox is not compatible (although it lets me record, just not playback to create an audio track) with Mavericks and I would like to know what device will be.  I am using Digital Performer (8.05 now).
This information does not seem to be available online.
I sure wish that the software engineers would give continuity as a very high priority.

if you have a retina MBP, you should run the 64bit versions of either 7 or 8/8.1. it isn't tied to mavericks, it is tied to your specific machine

  • My epson Perfection V330 scanner won't work with mavericks

I updated to Mavericks and now my Esson scanner won't work.  I found a download for a driver on the Epson site but it doesn't seem to want to download - either that or it's taking hours to download.

    Hi,
As listed on Epson's site the drivers are available via Apple Software Update.
Ensure the scanner is powered on and directly connected to your Mac, then try following the steps below:
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=14551&BV_UseBVCooki e=yes&infoType=Downloads&platform=OSF_M_X7
Now try opening the Image Capture application within the Applications folder and check if your scanner appears.
If the scanner cannot be located yet try restarting your Ma and check for any difference.
If the same still persists try resetting the printing system, then try adding the scanner again as listed on Epson's site.
You may reset the printing system as following:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11143
Finally, if you still having issue getting the drivers from ASU try installing the package below and try scanning from Image Capture again:

  • Mail app won't work with my university proxy

    Dear all,
I have a problem with the mail application on Lion. I'm behind a proxy server in my university and all other applications such as Safari, Chrome and Skype works well with this proxy when I have configured it in system settings.
Mail application, however, never works. It looks like exactly when I'm completely offline and have no internet access. This is not something new on Lion and I had the exact same problem when I was on Snow Leopard. I wonder others have a workaround for this.
Some more information: Proxy server works on port 50 with authentication.
    All the best,
    Arman

some updates on this issue, Mail application uses the same proxy that has been set on your system (system preferences==>Network==>Advanced==>proxies). People usually use HTTP/HTTPS proxy for surfing the web. You should make sure to set SOCKS proxy as well. Mail application works with SOCKS proxy. Note that port number for SOCKS proxy is usually different from the port number for HTTP and HTTPS but the IP address of  your server (apparently) is the same.
    Hope this helps

  • Old apps won't work with Leopard

OK, thinking this would work out alright, I bought and installed Leopard on my eMac. I knew that my machine just met the requirements to run it, but I figured I could live with a sluggish machine for a while. I upgraded the OS from 10.2.9 which ran everything fine of course. Now after installing Leopard, a number of my programs (Photoshop 7, Appleworks 6 to name a few) will not open without crashing. And I've also had problems with the Mail 3 program. It opens, I can get mail, but I can't send mail. The send button doesn't even rollover so I can try to send. It just won't let me send.
At this point I'd be happy to just reinstall 10.2, but I can't figure out how to do that either...the 10.2 disk won't start up the installation process, it just says it needs to restart the computer and then brings me back to my regular login screen. What in the world can I do to fix this?

How did you install 10.5, via Upgrade Install or another method?
If you have a good backup, your best bet may an erase & clean install of Leo. You are dragging along a lot of old baggage.
You also should be able to use Setup Assistant (which IMO works better before an admin user is created) or migrate by hand and install the apps you need to re-install.
PS 7 will not run on 10.5
If you really feel you need to re-install 10.4, you should erase and reformat your drive before installing 10.4.x

  • IPhoto won't work with Maverick

Please can anyone help.  Also note I am not a techie!  I have upgraded to OS X maverick and now my iphoto wont work. Keep getting the message:  "Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable"  From what I can gather I need to possibly re-build it.  Got no idea what that means!  I backed everything up to Time Machine/Time Capsule before I started but I can't access anything before the date I put the new OS on my laptop.  (Macbook pro/13").
Any help would be very greatly appreciated as there is thousands of photos saved in my iPhoto and I would hate to lose them.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi pollyt30,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you see a message that your iPhoto library is unusable, first make sure you've updated to the latest version of iPhoto. This article explains how to update applications using the Mac App Store:
OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1338
Backing up your library was a very good idea, and repairing/rebuilding your iPhoto library is the next troubleshooting step. This article explains how:
iPhoto 6 and later: Rebuilding the iPhoto library
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2638
    To rebuild the iPhoto library:
Quit iPhoto if it is open.
Hold down the Command and Option keys on the keyboard.
    Open iPhoto.
Keep the keys held down until you are prompted to rebuild the library.
A dialog will appear with rebuild options. Select the options you want to use.
I'd suggest trying each step in order, and seeing if your library opens in between each step.
    Best,
    Jeremy

  • PowerPC apps won't work with Lion

I have an application that is no longer working as the message says Lion no longer supports ower PC apps?
Is there any work around for this?

    pengtao wrote:
Find an update for the application, or find a newer application doing similar work.
The app that is giving the most people fits is Quicken.  Other than running Quicken for Windows in a virtual program (like Parallels) (which I already do), there are no really good alteratives to Quicken (not that Quicken for Mac was ever any good to begin with).

  • Screensaver installed on Mountain Lion still works with Yosemite but Attempting to install on later MBP it won't work with Mavericks or Yosemite

I installed Porsche's 911 Screensaver on my 2011 MBP when it had Mountain Lion.  It still works after upgrades up to Yosemite.  I attempted to install the same on my late 2013 MBP Retina (Mavericks and Yosemite) and though it installs, I get the message that the screensaver isn't compatible with this version of OS X.  How can a piece of software work on one MBP and not another?  The 2011 is 15", quad-core i7 and the 2013 is about as powerful but 13" and all SSD.  This is confusing
    Thanks for the help

so return it for another one if its within the 14 day return policy.  If not, bring it in for repair.

  • DVD Player app won't work with Snow Leopard

I installed Snow Leopard recently. I tried to watch a DVD with DVD player. It wouldn't work. I got this message in a box: "You can't use this version of the application DVD Player with this version of Mac OS X. You have DVD Player 5.0.3."
I looked for a recent DVD player update/download and could not find one. Same with Snow Leopard updates...
Does anybody know the fix or the workaround?
    Thanks,
    Estel Dillon

    HI,
Download and install the 10.6.2 combo update available here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL959
    Then repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
In the future, when updating system software, click the Apple Menu  /Software Updates. If that doesnt't work then go here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/ and use the standalone installers.
*The DVD Player application is not available to reintall from the SL disc*. If after the suggestions above haven't helped, then back up your important data before you do anything, then reinstall Snow Leopard.
You can reinstall the following apps from your SL disc.
    Address Book
    iCal
    iChat
    iTunes
    Mail
    Oxford Dictionaries
    Safari
    and X11

  • Western Digital won't work with Mavericks after upgrading.  Any solutions?  Is Apple doing anything?

I upgraded to Mavericks and now my Western Digital will not work.  Is this an Apple issue and are there any solutions?  Thanks.

Western Digital have been assisting the users that lost data by providing Recovery software to them, I don't know what else they are doing. Contact them.
And if you are running any WD software that may have accompanied the drive stop now and remove it permanently.

  • Mail & Calendar won't work with Mavericks

    1. I open Mail in Mavericks and cannot see any of my new or saved emails from my Gmail account.
    2. When I try to open Calendars the screen briefly flashes and Calendars will not open.
Is there a fix for these issues?
Mavericks seems to be a waste of time, my Mac Pro worked fine with Mountain Lion and now I seem to have a very buggy system.

re deleting a Calendar cache file. It worked for me when Calendar locked up after "upgrading" to mavericks, so worth a try?
