What are com.apple.speech files?

Hi there!
On iTunes I have a lot of "com.apple.speech.synthesis.voice.name.premium files". They show up under Songs and as individual Albums. If I play them I get someone saying something in an unknown language. I found one where the name was Lee and it said, My name is Lee, I am an Australian English voice". Oo-err! I am not aware of having downloaded any voice synthesis software. Even if it's embedded in iTunes, should these files be showing up in Songs and Albums?
Does anyone know what are they, how did they might have got there and can I delete them?
Thanks in advance.
iMac (late 2009)
OS X Mavericks 10.9.5
iTunes 11.4 (18)

No, lastfm is OK. I run that, too, on both my PC and Mac.
Years ago, though, after an itunes update, I had those tmp files getting created and used this Process Monitor tool from SysInternals to find out why.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx
It turned out it was lastfm, and when I emailed lastfm support and showed them the log files, they fixed it within a week.
But like I said, that was years ago...Process Monitor was called FileMon back then.
It needs to monitor iTunes Library.itl. Nothing should be accessing that file besides iTunes.exe and normal system processes.

  • Cant get com.apple.security.files.user-selected.read-only entitlement to work

Hey I am curious how can I get the .ipa compiled file for iOS to be able to read all the directories on the iPhone?
I made a file browser but I cant get to the pictures
I tried adding the entitlements in Flash Builder 4.6 in the descriptor file like this:
    <key>com.apple.security.files.user-selected.read-only</key>
    <true/>
    <key>com.apple.security.assets.movies.read-only</key>
    <true/>
    <key>com.apple.security.assets.pictures.read-only</key>
    <true/>
    in the

I got Push notifications working and accepted in the app store but it can't read the pictures directory when browsing for a file
I know the app id and stuff is set up right or I wouldnt have been able to get it accepted in the app store.  In the entitlements area of course I have the application identifier set and aps-environment and keychain access groups and whatnot set up right.
When I try to put the app onto the iPhone with iTunes it just says 'Entitlements are not valid' (does not mention anything about mismatched ids) I can't find anything about how to add this entitlement and I could have sworn I saw a thing that said I can just use the descriptor file to add entitlements in some of the documentation I have it set to use air 3.4
Is there something I am doing wrong, how do I get apple to just put these entitlements in the mobileprovision file, I cant seem to edit it, if I do I also get an error in itunes that is some hex code...

Did you ever solve your problem?
I just transfered my web hosting and e-mail to bluehost. I had some of the same problems you are having. I noticed you have your incoming server set to bluehost.

  • What are the basic .jar files to be set in web dynpro project classpath

    Hi,
I am having a problem while customizing the ESS. I used DTR, DC and imported configuration. After that, I created project from one of the DC(say ess/jp/addr). Later when I open an iView from any Web Dynpro component, I am getting lot of errors without even making any modifications.
I closed the project and reopened it and reload & rebuilt, but it doesn't solved my problem. In my classpath settings I couldn't find any jar files except the jre_lib. Could you please let me know what are the basic jar files we have to set in classpath and where to get them from. We are using NWDS 7.0.06 version.
Can you please let me know how to solve this or any other way to work around this.
It's an urgent to be fixed as early as possible, plz help me out.

  • Dashboard doesn't work and com.apple.dashboard* files doesn't exist

Like the headline says, my dashboard doesn't work at all, and my com.apple.dashboard* -files doesn't exist in the preferences file.
Is there annyway to redownload or reinstall it?
    Please help!

    Hello there,
Have you tried killing the Dock Process through Activity monitoring and then relaunching it? I would also try logging out and then back in or doing a complete reboot of the machine to see if that helps.
If still no luck, it may be a good idea to trash the dashboard preference file.
The two dashboard preference files are in the following directory:
    yourusername -> Library -> Preferences ->
    The file names are:
    com.apple.dashboard.client.plist
    com.apple.dashboard.plist
    Hope this helps.

  • Com.apple.ichat files missing

My iChat hasn't been opening. I've been trying to follow the advice posted by other users and putting the /Users/macbookprompls/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iChat.AIM.plist file in the trash. It worked a couple months ago, but this morning, when my iChat failed to open, I tried to use the same method and none of the com.apple.iChat files were in either my Preferences folder or the trash.
    Help?

You didn't try using "macbookprompls" when typing a command in Terminal.app to locate these plist files, did you? "macbookprompls" was the original poster's screen name, which I used by example to imply that (s)he needed to use his(her) short user name. So, if you were, you should be opening up, in the Finder, your user home account's Library's Preferences folder. There should be a several files in there whose names begin with "com.apple.iChat" and end with ".plist" and if you quit iChat and trash all of those files and restart iChat, it will look like a "first time ever" launch of iChat on your computer. Then you should be able to recreate any iChat, Jabber, and/or Bonjour accounts with your ichat, jabber, and/or bonjour screen names, and all should be well. Things like AIM buddy lists are maintained on AIM servers, so you won't lose those by deleting these plist files.
If that is of no help to you, I think that with the Leopard installer DVD, you can do custom reinstallations of a limited number of Apple OEM applications, iChat being one of them. My installer DVD is not conveniently nearby for me to check, but that was the case with Tiger. Some info for custom reinstalls in Tiger can be found here. I can't find an equivalent knowledgebase article for Leopard, though. In any event, if iChat is one of the apps that the optional installs package on the Leopard installer DVD supports, you could try a reinstallation of iChat from the optional installs package on the Leopard installer DVD.
However, before going down the optional installs route (or maybe after, too), if you launch iChat from the command line with error logging, and post the log results here, the gurus here in this forum could help you troubleshoot further. To launch iChat from the command line, start up Terminal.app (in /Applications/Utilities) and type
    /Applications/iChat.app/Contents/MacOS/iChat -errorLogLevel 7⏎
and copy and paste the resulting text displayed in the Terminal window back into a follow-up post here, if iChat still refuses to launch for you.

  • What are the Apple Mail SPECIFICATIONS?

What are the Apple Mail 6.5 specifications on Mac with OS X 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion)? For instance...
    How many mailboxes can handle?
How many messages in each mailbox?
Any size limit for each mailbox or the full set of mailboxes?
BTW, I think that such information was in
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25812
but the docs.info.apple.com site seems to have gone. Where are the Apple info documents now?
    Thanks.

There are no set specifications for these.  In general:
    * It can handle lots of mailboxes.  I'm sure thousands would be fine, though it would be a chore to manage.  With Spotlight, I think fewer mailboxes is better.  I have 10 mailboxes, with between 10,000 and 30,000 messages each.
    * It can easily handle many messages in a mailbox.  30,000 is easy, and it can probably do 100,000+
    * There are no size limits for the mailboxes.  Mostly disk space.
I'll note that Adam Engst had issues with an older version of Mail and 1 million messages:
    http://tidbits.com/article/12382
I bet it works better now, but I personally have 11 mailboxes and 114,306 messages in Mail at the moment and have noticed no slowdown in performance whatsoever.

  • What are the differences in file types?

what are the differences in file types?    HOW DO i CONVERT TXT TO A FILE TYPE THAT PLAYS MUSIC/VIDEO?

Every file on a computer is ultimately just a big collection of zeros and ones. Files with the .txt extension typically contain just text. If opened with a suitable program such as Notepad the text will be readable. Try to push the same file into a different application and you may get nonsense or crash the software. Well written software will attempt to validate the internal structure of the file it is given and reject anything it doesn't know how to handle. There are multiple audio file formats. Transcoding an audio file from one audio format to another is possible. Changing a text file into audio isn't possible unless it wasn't really a text file in the first place.

  • What are the .fm.sp files that are created when using SharePoint?

What are the .fm.sp files that are created when using SharePoint? When I'm working with SharePoint, I've noticed that duplicate files ending in .fm.sp are created. I've been unable to find any reference or documentation about them so far.

Whe you use sharepoint as a CMS connections in Framemaker it creates the folder where Sp is installed and also a file ending .sp is created that let SP know that its the file associated with it.
.fm.sp indicates that its the framemaker type SP file.
Dont worry about it as its not creating any mess in the system.

  • What is com.apple.MediaLibraryService?

I just upgraded to Mavericks and iTunes 11.1.2.  A few other quick notes on my setup:
I wirelessly sync to my iPhone 4S running iOS7.
My iTunes and iPhoto libraries are located on a remote disk that I am connected to wirelessly.  My router is a Time Capsule with a Lacie HD hooked up to it.  The Lacie is where the iTunes and iPhoto LIbraries are located.
First, everything seems to work fine.  There is one thing that I noticed though, when I am listening to iTunes internet radio (WXPN or Radio Paradise), I notice that this app (com.apple.MediaLIbraryService) keeps running in the background.  It is a drain on the CPU and battery and I notice that my Lacie HD is always spinning.  Before the upgrade, the drive would sleep, even while I was listening to internet radio on iTunes because I was not accessing any files.
The app does disappear when I shut down iTunes.
What is the app doing and how can I stop it from being a CPU and battery drain, along with stop spinning up the Lacie HD?
    Thanks in advance!
    John Mc

I have been working this issue for the past couple of months - since updating to Mavericks. Both my iTunes and iPhoto libraries reside on my NAS (accessed via ethernet). Up until the Mavericks update, my iTunes was left running on my Mac mini server 24/7 with NO issues.
I can confirm that I see two issues:
    1. iTunes is using excessive memory (over 2GB); it starts off fine when the mini is rebooted, but then gradually eats through all available RAM until the mini freezes/iTunes crashes.
    2. The process "com.apple.MediaLibraryService" appears as 3rd highest memory hog
Stumbled across John's thread here and did some more digging based njakobsen's reply above: I have iTunes Home Sharing enabled in iTunes. Looking at the File | Home Sharing | menu in iTunes, there is an option to "Choose Photos to Share with AppleTV...".
When I disable that option, close iTunes, and then relaunch iTunes, "com.apple.MediaLibraryService" does not appear in the process list, and iTunes returns to using only about 130 MB of memory.
Of course, the obvious side-effect is that you will not be access Photos from your Mac on the AppleTV.
Let me know if this worked for you.

  • What is com.apple.sharepoint

I am admin on a desktop for my business, and I see that my previous manager has a few groups set up for sharing files, and I cannot figure out what they are for.  They are listed as com.apple.sharepoint.groupX (X=1,2,3... etc), and the setting for these are set to "Custom"
Can anyone tell me what these shared groups are sharing, or how to find out?
Is there a way to view the "custom" settings?
Are these shared only locally on the computer, or is there access to these via the net?
Is it ok to delete them?
Any help in understanding what is being shared, and where would be very helpful.  I'm afraid people may have access to files they shouldn't have, but am not sure what damage I might do if I delete them.
    Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the help, but I read that post already, and it doesn't really clarify anything for me.  Can you expand on that answer?
    More specifically:
I do not know what Directory Services are, and how to acess/modify them, or what they are used for.
I do not know how to get a command prompt, and do not know what is meant by "file" or "directory" use.
I guess the last answer states that it is not good to delete the file sharing, but again, I want to make sure none of the files can be accessed by anyone who is not locally on the computer, and do not know how to find this out either.
    Thanks for your prompt response!

  • Kernel Panic issue -- What's com.apple.GeForce got to do with this?

    Hi all,
Been experiencing this a lot lately, those dreaded Kernel Panic messages that ask you to restart the computer, complete with the depressing darkened screen in the background. The tech details below. Hope someone at Apple can help too.
What happens that leads up to it? Can't see a pattern, sadly. Sometimes I'm just not doing anything on the iMac, and no applications are running, and it goes into Kernel Panic. Other times I'm using an application, and halfway through, Kernel Panic. No particular application too.

Also what are the other useful trace files available? Please point out.

    Hello Deepak,
Here is the link with all infos how to use Log Viewer to view logfiles:
