  • Query as Web Services!!! What are its uses and why do we need it?

What are its uses and why do we need it.. if other tools like Dashboard and crystal reports and Webi can connect to universe and create reports and Analytics...

    Hello  Rajsan Madhavarajan
Query as a Web Service (QaaWS) is a SAP Business Objects (BOBJ)  client-side tool that allows users to create and publish Web Services that can be made available over the Web.  Once these web services are created and published,  they can be consumed like any other standard Web Service in software applications including Xcelsius and Crystal Reports.   But first we have to understand what exactly is a Web Service.
    Web Service
A Web Service is a software system that supports  interoperable interaction over a network from one computer or machine to another but is more commonly defined as a client and a server communicating data over the Web using the HTTP Protocol. Using Web Services along with Business Objects allows a live connection of data to be used in applications such as Xcelsius and Crystal Reports through a semantic layer called a Universe.
Query as a Web Service (QaaWS)
The two main components in QaaWS are the Client Tool and the Server.  The QaaWS Client Tool gives the end user an easy to use wizard that allows them to create Universe queries and publish them as Web Services.  Once the QaaWS is published, any user can securely access the data that the Web Service contains as long as they have access to that server. Have a look on  image below that shows the information flow to and from the server via the client.
    Advantages to QaaWS:
Very easy to use and intuitive interface Familiar look and feel for people who have used Web Intelligence
Leverages existing Business Objects Universes Shares metadata with Web Intelligence, Desktop Intelligence and Crystal Reports
    Maintains Business Objects Enterprise Security
Allows live data feeds to be incorporated into Xcelsius Dashboards and Crystal Reports

  • BVI - What is it and what are its uses?

BVI - What is that and what are its uses?

    Ranji,
A BVI is in fact quite similar to an SVI (interface Vlan). You can define a software bridging between various ports of a router, similar to switching between various ports on a switch. If the ports on a switch belong to the same VLAN and the switch is capable of multilayer switching, you can create an interface Vlan for that VLAN and allow the hosts in that VLAN to use the IP address of the interface Vlan as their default gateway.
The same goes for interface BVI - Bridged Virtual Interface. When configuring software bridging, you define a group of interfaces that are bridged - the router performs bridging (i.e. software-based switching) of frames between all member ports of a bridge group, in essence forming a single broadcast domain - an IP subnet. If the devices in the common bridge group want to access other IP networks, they need a gateway, so you create an associated interface BVI that is also a part of the bridge group, and devices in the bridge group then use the IP address of the BVI interface as their gateway.
For exampe, imagine a router with two FastEthernet interfaces:
    bridge irb!interface FastEthernet0/0 no ip address no shutdown bridge-group 1!interface FastEthernet0/1 no ip address no shutdown bridge-group 1!interface BVI1 ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0 no shutdown!bridge 1 route ip
This configuration would make your router to basically behave as a 2-port "switch" on its Fa0/0 and Fa0/1 interfaces, and devices connected to these ports would use the 10.0.0.1 as their default gateway to other networks.
You rarely configure bridging exactly this way these days, as switches are orders of magnitude faster and have way more ports. Still, there are situations where you need to bridge two interfaces, taking packets out of frames of one technology and putting them into frames of a different technology, without routing them, just repackaging but still carrying them between interfaces. This is often done in, say, DSL if the router is configured to act in bridge mode - take IP packets coming to Ethernet interface and simply repackage them into PPP or ATM+AAL5 cells on the DSL WAN port (and vice versa).
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • Looking for a drum loop app that will run in the background. What are you using?

Looking for a drum loop app that will run in the background. Suggestions? What are you using? I tried Loopseque and I like it, but I can't make it run once I switch apps. Help please.

That's definitely strange, kzmidge. I want a working phone in your hands though. I noticed you mentioned you received the suggestion to complete a reset. Did you already do that? Is it working again? Are you receiving an error message?
If you hesitated a little longer to complete the reset, you can try to place your phone into Safe Mode http://vz.to/rxg0ii and see if you can access mobile sites from your browser. This mode will stop 3rd party applications from running, so you won't be able to use the apps you mentioned but we may be able to narrow down the trouble in Safe Mode. If the mobile sites work, that means the trouble may be in a recently downloaded application and you may be able to avoid the reset my uninstalling some of your more recently installed applications. If it's still giving you trouble, the reset http://vz.to/18wzOCi is the next best step.

  • What are you using as a Flash replacement for 64-bit machines?

    Hi,
I was reading about the vulnerabilities in Adobe's Flash and decided to remove the offending package. I opened Chromium to make sure my Flash still worked, as I understood that Chromium implemented another method for rendering Flash stuff. I was wrong. For example, YouTube tells me that I need Flash 10 or higher. I tried to re-install the flashplugin package, but it is no longer in the repos.
I can live without Flash content, but it's nice to have.
So the question is, what are you using instead, that can be installed from the main repos?
    Many thanks,
    Chris.

I have installed both lightspark 0.4.3 and gnash 0.8.8, since lightspark should be able to 'fall back to gnash for older videos' (see changelog of lightspark).
I have tried some flash-websites in firefox and all of them seem to use gnash and there was 1 website that didn't load the content (www.deredactie.be - our national tvstation). So, I'm under the impression that lightspark is not used by firefox.
Has anyone found out how to do this?
Secondly, gnash should be able to use VA-API (hardware acceleration). Is it just a question to install libva and let gnash do the rest, or does one have to recompile gnash to build the support in?
    Zl.
PS: to whoever thinks flashplugin is the 'real flash': gnash has beaten it in terms of providing hardware acceleration. hooray for opensource!

  • What are tools used by the xi/pi system ,to bug the errrors

    hi gurus,
what are tools used by the xi/pi system ,to bug the errrors.
    regards,
    subba reddy

For all kind of errors the only tool available which bugs or say alerts for the error is Alert Management.
Alerts are messages which can be raised in case of failure.
Alerts - used for system errors, u can send a mail or msg whenever there is any failure. alert configuration can be done in t-code - ALERTCATDEF.
Alert Categrory can be defined in transaction ALRTCATDEF on abap stack. we can assign receipients to every alert category which specifies who will receive alert in case of error.
Alert rules can be defined in RWB.
for configuring alerts u need follwing roles first for defining or creating alertcategory
the roles reuired to access the RWB are:
    1. SAP_XI_RWB_SERV_USER
    2. SAP_XI_RWB_SERV_USER_MAIN
The roles for the Alert Management are:
    1. SAP_ALM_ADMINISTRATOR
    2. SAP_ALM_CUSTOMIZER
    3. SAP_BC_ALM_ALERT_USER
    Once this is done
alert category is defined and then tested
    For Alert please see
The specified item was not found.

  • What are Wrapper classes and what are they used for ?

What are Wrappter classes and what are they used for ?..Also, any examples would be great to understand this concept

Wrapper classes are used to enclose primitive data
types so that they can be used in instances where an
object is required. For example, if you want to add an
    integer to an ArrayList, you can't use this:java.util.List al = new ArrayList();
    int i=123;
al.add(i);because the ArrayList expects data of type object. In
order to all the integer to the ArrayList, you must wrap
    it in the Integer wrapper class. This works:java.util.List al = new ArrayList();
    int i=123;
    al.add(new Integer(i));Hope that helps.

  • Audition - What are we using it for?

As someone pointed out in a recent topic (http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?128@@.59b54e04) that "most" topics concern, AA 'bugs' and other hardware and/or OS related problems. Ozpeter rightly explains the obvious reasons for this.
Maybe I've got too much time on my hands but given my recent experience in developing a support utility for AA (http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b4f363) it has become obvious to me just how diverse the use and the way we all use AA.
I thought it might be interesting and perhaps even useful and educational for members of the forum (and maybe even Adobe) if users offer some insight into where, how, why and for what purpose they use Audition.
What do you think about the idea of this sort of feedback in one area (or at all)?

Well, to answer Runaway in greater detail, I use both AA and Pro Tools. What has driven me from using AA as my main DAW is not only the PTs wonderfully integrated MIDI support (it should be, after all Digis been doing it for a very long time) but what have also become for me serious limitations on AAs part.
Here are some my issues with AA:
The VST/DirectX amnesia bug is one whereby AA will not remember session effect settings. I generally prefer to use certain DirectX and VST plugins rather than the AA effects and it takes time to set these up with particular effects and custom parameters assigned to specific tracks. When I exit the session AA forgets the settings. In other words, when I revisit the session for a revision or whatever I have to re-enable each effect as AA reverts to a default setting upon exiting the session. I used to take this behavior as just something I had to live with until I began to use Acid Pro and Pro Tools. It was when I started using other DAWs that I realized AA was seriously broken in this regard.
Stability is another area where AA falls flat and its only gotten worse with AA 3.0. I found 2.0 to be more stable than 1.5 (which was a nightmare) and I have learned the hard way that with AA you save early and often, otherwise it WILL crash and kill your work from the last save point.
In all the time I have been using Pro Tools it hasnt crashed once. I value that quite a bit.
AAs MIDI integration is thoroughly wonked. Why it was even introduced in this condition is one of the great mysteries of the universe. To say - as I have read - that its still in a state of development is understating the situation to say the least.
And support? Digi releases patches to fix bugs found after release in regular order. So does every other DAW maker for that matter. We still dont know if Adobe is going to fix AA 3.0s bugs or release the fixes as AA 3.5 and charge us for them.
Ive been using this product since the days of Cool Edit 1x. It was the first DAW on which I learned to edit digital audio. But it wasnt until I began to use Pro Tools that I started to understand AAs limitations and faults.
And I didnt purchase Pro Tools so I could play with the big boys. It was because I wanted to learn something new and see how far I could push my talent and abilities. I also had the opportunity to pick up some engineering sessions at a local production house and they like many other professional studios here in Austin use Pro Tools. (My buddy Ray Benson of Bismeaux Studios uses Nuendo, but thats another story)
Once I began to use Pro Tools I began to see what I had been missing: a supremely refined user interface with astounding power and the feeling that I was driving a luxurious and slick program that was a delight to learn and use. Every time I use Pro Tools I find a new reason to love it, as its that deep and constantly opens new ways to appreciate it. The recently released version 7.4 is just mind blowing.
And as far as having to use proprietary hardware, thats a plus for me. Look at it this way: youre going to have to buy a sound card anyway. If youre a pro you wont be using a Creative Labs card, youll be using a something on a professional level. For a little less than twice what one would pay for AA 3.0 alone you can purchase an Mbox 2 Factory Pro with PT 7.4 and youre good to go. Program and sound card in one. Whats not to like?
Like I said at the start of this, I still use AA. It has certain features that are still useful to me, such as the Edit window and its audio restoration toolset. But I dont use it for mission critical projects. Its too buggy and too unreliable for that. And I wont automatically buy the next version as I have been doing since the Cool Edit days. I find myself considering other alternatives such as Sound Forge and Wavelab.
Im not saying AA is a bad productits just that what I need from a DAW has changed and in its current state AA doesnt fit the bill for the majority of my needs.

  • What are the uses for AW?

I have yet to find a use for AW that excel or word or pages or keynote could not do.
So i was wondering what is the program being used for?

I agree, although I suspect anyone looking specifically at Word, Excel, and Keynote/PowerPoint are not using databases (although many do not, but are trying really hard to make excel into a databse!).
I've been using FileMaker so long, that I find AW database to be underpowered, but for the price, the database tool in AW is very good for flat databases.
When one comes to the point of needing a relational database, FileMaker can't be beat -- expecially when compared to Access on PCs,...FileMaker is far simpler and more intuitive (at least to me), and development time is very fast.
Barbara's example is one where I bet a relational database would be very useful,...something to consider,...
