What are Operation Modes?

I would just like to have deeper meaning with regards to Operation Modes. What are operation modes? Does this basically means that we can allocate additional resources (in terms of work process) to a specific operation? For instance, we need additional background work processes at night, we could simply switch the operation mode that is defined to add several background work processes for night? Is that it?
Are there any subtraction or addition of work processes? For instance, from only existing 5 background processes, we can make it to 10 background processes by activating or switching the operation mode?
Or is it simply reallocation of work processes to give way to the more priority in-need work processes? If it is simply reallocation? From what work process are we reallocating from? Does it signify that we can allocate several dialog work proceses and make it background processes? From 10 dialog process and 3 background process, we'll allocate 5 from dialog process to make the background process into 8?
Or is it simply reallocation of the current setting of the work processes? For instance, you have a total of 10 background processes defined in the profile parameter, then you set 2 bacground processes for day and 8 work processes for night. Is that it?
Which is the correct notion? Kindly clarify. Thanks.

Hi,
Operations modes just change the role (from DIA to BTC for exemple) of some work processes.
It is not possible to change the total number of work processes.
If necessary, It is possible to switch manually operation modes with RZ03.
On our systems we have 3 operation modes : Day, Night and Exceptional.
Day and Night are switched automatically with the time.
Exceptional mode is switched on manually very rarely when there is an "exceptional" need...
One trick to know : you need at least one UPD our UP2 process on a DI to be able to change the number of these processes vi operation modes.

Olivier

  • I have two airport extremes, one acting as amodem and the other operating in bridge mode.  The extremes are connected using ethernet, but remain connected even when I disconnect the Cat5a cable. How do I know if they are operating wired or wirelessly

I have two airport extremes, one acting as a modem and the other operating in bridge mode.  The extremes are connected using ethernet, but remain connected even when I disconnect the Cat5a cable (I did this to check that the 100 feet of Cat 5a cable connecting them was working). How do I find out if they are operating wired or wirelessly?  I want to know as I assume I will get much better speeds if they are wired.

Hi Bob, many thanks for the prompt response.  I think I did what you suggested, but you're the expert so I have sent over a few screenshots.  The extreme in question is High Birches Home Office (the rest of the network has been in place and working well for some time).  My new home office is going to be in the garden, circa 100 feet from the main house.  I have installed armoured Cat5e cable down to the shed that is going to be adjacent to the home office once built and situated the High Birches Home Office Airport Extreme there temporarily.  Everything works well, so I was surprised when I unplugged the ethernet, that it still worked.  I also tested the ethernet cable by switching off my laptop's wifi and unplugging the cable from the airport extreme and directly into the laptop and that worked ok.
If the screenshots below (I did every Airport utility tab for the High Birches Home Office) don't tell you anything more, then the set-by-step instructions would greatly appreciated so I can ensure I completed the steps correctly.

  • What are the MDM Modes and explain them?

    Hi,
There are five modes in Data Manager which are as follows:
    1. Record Mode: When Data Manager starts, record mode is opened. It is the primary working view. From here, the content of the data can be
managed. We perform various operations like
    a. Adding a record
    b. Deleting a record
    c. Searching a record. The search for a record in record mode can be started from the tree view located in the left area of the main window. The search parameters are shown here.
    2. Hierarchy Mode: In this mode, the user of the Data Manager can view and change all hierarchies stored in the repository. The hierarchy table to be edited can be selected here. The tree view displays the tree structure of the hierarchy.
    3. Taxonomy Mode:  The taxonomy determines how records belonging to different categories are defined. Through a taxonomy, an attribute can be attached to a record. These additional attributes are defined for records, which belong to a certain category. An example of this could be personal data, which differs according to the role in the organization, and thus includes additional information.
The taxonomy mode can only be selected if there is a table of type Taxonomy in the repository.
    4. Matching Mode:  We can define transformations, substitutions, and matching rules u2014 and bundle these rules into matching strategies.
According to a matching strategy, for example, SAP net weaver MDM will calculate scores for the probability that specific records are duplicates. We can then compare potential duplicates and merge any objects that are in fact repeated.
In Rules Tab, we set up rules to automate the detection of duplicate master data.
In Strategies tab, we bundle rules into matching strategies to calculate the probability of duplicates.
A high matching score indicates that a data entry is likely a duplicate record.
    5. Family Mode: In family mode, all existing records that are already assigned to a category can be subdivided into families. The taxonomy table in which the family definitions are to be stored is selected in the toolbar. Then the family can be selected in the tree view.

In our Balance sheet they maintain "Direct Operating Expenses"
                                                             "General Administration Expenses"
                                                             "Financial Expenses"
                                                             "Depreciation".

in the operating expenses you shall not consider the "Financial Expenses", because they are not caused by the operative part of the company.

  • What are the general effects of using recovery mode, and is it possible for one's data to be backed up on to it afterwards?

My iPad, in my opinion is a great device to have whenever I need to use it for work - mainly using it for creating music.  However I feel that it's a bit outdated, and I plan to get a new iPad Air for this holiday season and give this one to my children.  That being said, I have stumbled across a weird problem that keeps me from backing my iPad (generation 2) up to my computer.  The error in question states that "The iPad is currently owned by another computer."  By looking around on the internet, I was able to deduce that one of the ways to solve this problem was to put it in recovery mode to get rid of the 'ownership', and this seems logistical.  The problem I'm facing now, is that, after trying to find the answer, I do not know how recovery mode has an impact on all the data stored on my iPad.  To clarify the question into three parts:
    1)  Is there a way to back up files from my iPad and easily retrieve them without the use of iTunes?
    2)  If not, is there a way to get rid of the 'ownership' of another computer other than recovery mode WITHOUT jailbreaking it?
    3)  If still no, then what are the effects of putting my iPad into recovery mode, and will all of my songs and data be safe?
Thank you for answering, if possible.

Was the iPad originally set up on a different computer, and hasn't been synced to the one that you are now trying to use ? There are some instructions on this page for syncing to a new computer : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
(Before trying that you could copy any important files/documents off the iPad so that you have you own backup copy of them e.g. depending upon what the apps support then email them to yourself, use Dropbox, copy them to your computer via your wifi-network.)
You should be able to copy iTunes purchases off the iPad and over to that computer's iTunes via File > Devices  Transfer Purchases, but if you have music from other sources (e.g. copied from CDs) which aren't in that computer's iTunes (and you haven't got a backup to copy them onto it from) then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
For recovery mode, that will result in your iPad being put back to factory defaults i.e. all of your content will be removed from it

  • What are the lock modes in Lock object

What are the lock modes in Lock object ?
    what are the divfferences between
    Exclusive , cumulative
    Shared
    Exclusive , not cumulative
Could any body explain what happens in each table lock ?
    How the lock consists ?

    HI
Lock objects are used to synchronize access to the same data by more than one program.
The lock mode controls whether several users can access data records at the same time. The lock mode can be assigned separately for each table in the lock object. When the lock is set, the corresponding lock entry is stored in the lock table of the system for each table.
There are three types of lock modes
    1.Exclusive
    2.Shared
    3.Exclusive not cummulative
Exclusive lock: The locked data can only be displayed or edited by a single user. A request for another exclusive lock or for a shared lock is rejected.
Shared lock: More than one user can access the locked data at the same time in display mode. A request for another shared lock is accepted, even if it comes from another user. An exclusive lock is rejected.
Exclusive but not cumulative: Exclusive locks can be requested several times from the same transaction and are processed successively. In contrast, exclusive but not cumulative locks can be called only once from the same transaction. All other lock requests are rejected.

  • What are normal operating temperatures of the i7-2620 in the X220, using TPFanControl?

So I finally got TPFanControl working on my X220 after I really started noticing the fan spinning up and producing high-pitched whine. The fan had begun to remain on all the time, even while on battery with the CPU sitting at 800MHz. I could have sworn the fan remained off a lot of the time beforehand.
So, what are the normal operating temps of the i7-2620CPU? Right now plugged in at "Balanced" speed, jumping between 2.7GHz and 800MHz and with the fan manually set to "7," 4500rpm, in TPFanControl, it shows the temperature at 63C. On battery at 800MHz, the temp goes between 50C and 60C.
CPU Utilization remains at 7% when on batteries, 0-4% while plugged in at idle.
Are those normal numbers? If not, do I have some kind of problem with the thermal paste or heatsink, or dust?

at idle? no my fan is hardly audible at idle.
what you are describing sounds like a problem with the either fan, or improper installation, in which cases you would need warranty.
If you boot the laptop into the bios menu, does the fan come on?

  • What are solutions to the "Unexpected error while attempting to bind.  Operation cancelled." message when trying to bind

What are solutions to the "Unexpected error while attempting to bind.  Operation cancelled." message when trying to bind and i alreeady cheack my DNS settings and everything

Has this worked before, or is this a new configuration?
On the server, launch Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities and post the output of the following harmless diagnostic command — and you'll need to enter an administrative password when requested:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
On the OS X (presumably) Mavericks client, please post the IP address(es) of the DNS server(s) you're referencing.  These are available via the System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS settings.
To check the console logs, launch Console.app from Applications > Utilities on both the client and the server, and then attempt the binding, and then post a (short! no more than ~25 to 50 lines!) of any errors related to the binding error.
If you're not in a position to post configuration details here — which is perfectly reasonable, and entirely your prerogative — or if I'm getting too confusing or too technical with some of the questions here, which would be my error of course — then (assuming these systems are under warranty) I'd suggest contacting the folks at the local Apple Store and having a chat with the local Geniuses about this, or checking directly with the Apple Support folks via telephone.
