Clearing cookies, cache and what are plug ins?

I followed a post here from SANIBEL explaining how to successfully clear my cache. Then to clean out the cookies under the Security tab of Preferences by clicking on REMOVE ALL WEBSITE DATA. I then clicked on DETAILS and see that there are still lots of "PLUG-INS" there. Is it necessary to also remove them, i.e. will they also perhaps contribute to interference and if so, must I remove them manually?

Root and user plug-ins are stored in: /Library/Plug-Ins and ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Plug-ins or extensions are add ons that can enhancet the way you use a browser.
This is how to clear the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.

Where else are Plug ins stored and throwing things away

Hello All,
Last year I had purchase Dot Pixels and i installed it in the Applications>AE>Plugins folder. I got an email to upgrade to the lates version. It warned to remove the old version before installing the new one, which I did. However, with the new version the computer did the installation. Unfortunately, its not working properly, its showing up as a trial version, so I would like to remove it, but its not in the Plug ins folder like the old one was, and when I "Search" for it nothing shows up. When I type in Dot Pixel in the Effects and Preset panel, its located in a folder named RowByte.
Where is it located so that I can trash it.
Since I cleaning tihs out and I love throwing away things to reclaim disk space, I noticed in my HD>Library>Application Support folder a Final Cut Pro and a Final Cut Pro System Support folder, I dont use Final Cut, don't intend to use Final Cut and I don't know where or how Final Cut got to be anywhere on my machine, is it ok that I trash them and any other applications that I do not use and have folders in there.?

There are plug-ins that get installed in the Library>Application Support> Adobe> Common> Plug-ins folder.
I wouldn't mess with the Final Cut folders. They contain things like apple codecs for ProRez and Apple Intrmediate. They are good for you....

Why are plug ins blocked in Safari? Plug ins were allowed until I updated Adobe on Sunday March 22, 2015.

easily create text FX for a while now. It's a discontinued product,
however, and it won't work in Flash CS3.

I've downloaded an app called Text-Osterone. It's not a
plug-in, but is a standalone product that outputs Flash.
I've also found PJ Components, but I haven't checked it out
yet. It doesn't seem like they offer a demonstration version and I
don't know if I want to pay money before trying it.

The dpi is not relevant, just the actual pixels. If you have Photoshop CS3 then create the project at 1440X1080 using 1.33 PAR just like your video.
If not, use 1920X1080 and Premiere Pro will deal with it.
You could make your title in After Effects and either use Dynamic Link to bring it into Premiere Pro, or export it as a Quicktime Animation with the alpha channel and use that in Premiere Pro.

Are plug-ins downloaded from the web safe?

Macworld newsletter just sent out an article about the most useful Safari plug-ins (http://lm.macworld.com/t/1158383/7026212/108592/0/). How do you know if it is safe to install a plug-in that sounds very useful but has been downloaded from the web?

The only extension I've heard of having problems is Safari AdBlock, which I did not
on that list. I would trust MacWorld about 90% of the time. You can always delete them
if they don't work out. I would also trust their site for downloading.

What QuickTime plug-ins do I need?

I have a Microsoft file format MP4S (which is apparently MPEG 4) that I need to open in QuickTime.
Can anyone suggest what QuickTime Plug-In in necessary to open this file.

I finally resolved the issue.
Here is a synopsis of the problem & the solution that worked for me. I should add this Forum (and several other friends who helped) never cease to be a wonderful source of ideas & support. Grateful thanks to them.
The test file was 30 seconds of colour bars (PAL) recorded as HD 1080p and the file was encoded by a default Microsoft MPEG-4 format called MP4S with a resolution of 720x576.
Ultimately I needed to be able to import the file into Final Cut Pro V.6 for editing & so the file needed to be transcoded into a QuickTime supported format.
VLC was the only software I found capable of opening this file as QT would not. When I attempted to open it, a QuickTime dialogue box responded - This file is not a movie file.
After a long search an application called VisualHub

offered the ability to transcode the existing format which was MP4S to H.264 (also MPEG-4). QuickTime was then able to open this new file & subsequently importing it into Final Cut Pro was made easy.

Don't worry about page ins. It's page outs and swap used that matter and determine if you need more RAM. You want page outs to be zero or a very low number. Zero is really the best. You are fine.
Page outs occur when your Mac has to write information from RAM to the hard drive (because RAM is full). Adding more RAM may reduce page outs.

If an application calls a page and it is in the RAM, then it is a "page in" occurs. If an app calls for a page from memory, and that page is currently stored on the hard disk and has to be read back into the RAM, then a "Page Out" occurs.

Addons is a word Mozilla started using as early as Firefox 2.0 to group together the separate Extensions, Themes, Plugins and even personas, search engines and dictionaries.
When newer users say Addons they usually are referring to Extensions or sometimes Plugins.
Plugins refers to Flash, Java, Qucktime and such.

Are plug-ins applied in the recorded audio file with GB2?

I have a very basic question and I think I know the answer but I just want to have a confirmation. I am using the ChannelStrip plug-in from Metric Halo, which is great by the way, I am wondering if the process is applied directly in the audio file when I am recording a track or if it will only be when I export the track to iTunes? For example when you process a file with a software like PEAK you must indicate that you want the plug in to be applied to the audio file unless it will leave the original audio file unchanged.

If I can remember rightly, a sound recordist friend of mine had one of these units and there was a problem importing the audio from it into pro-tools and avid. I do remember though it was a firmware update that eventually fixed it.
Also does this thing record dual stereo channels onto one .wav file, or two seperate .wavs?

No. Windows plugins are ordinary Windows DLLs, Intel x86 architecture. Mac plugins come in a variety of executable formats, the latest (CS3,4) being a bundle containing a Mach-O binary with some combination of PowerPC and Intel architecture shared libraries.
But the bottom line is, a plugin binary for one platform is incompatible with the other.
It is, however, possible to write a plugin which can be built into executables for all Photoshop plugin platforms on Mac and Windows. Most of those on my site are like this: http://telegraphics.com.au/sw/
