What are "Sticky Partitions" in HP My Display

I know the internet is evolving into a place where you can only learn things by trial and error, so it's no great surprise that I come across the term "sticky partitions" in the HP My Display software and find no clue as to what that means.
Anyone have some help here? I found lots of dead ends wasting time searching on-line and the HP Support site is totally useless - unless I get lucky and some kind soul has an answer here for me.

You dont need a hp monitor. Dont tell anyone.
You just have to find an hp install disk with this on it.
I have it on an hp 25" i got at best buy deal of day for $199, awesome monitor except it lacks built in sound. I set it up 2x2 with outlook, peachtree, ms word and filemaker.
What i like is if maximize a window then minimize it , it goes back to original partition.
I also have it working on gateway 21" 2 windows verical.
Once you get accustomed your productivity increases.

  • Tecra S11 - What are the two primary partitions for?

    Hello everybody
I just got myself a new Tecra S11 with Win7 64 and there's one thing that wonders me a littlebit.
There are four partitions in total, for sure there's the Recovery one (1.46 GB) and the System one (256.38 GB), but then there are also two primary partitions (8.86 and 31.38 GB) without any displayed use or file system. There's no non-allocated space.
Can somebody tell me what these two partitions are for ? Because I want to split the system partition up to store my data on a separated one, if possible I also want to use that "unknown" space then ;)
Besides that: Don't worry, I already made recovery DVDs.
    Greetings
    Nico

This is funny: I just recreated the entire Harddrive using the recovery DVDs, now the two primary partitions are gone and the space is integrated into the system one, lovely :)
Is this maybe a faulty pre installation ?

    Hi Lionel,
As a general rule of thumb, the ATI Rage 128 Pro will not support a 20" LCD. That being said, there are reports of it doing just that (possibly the edition that went into the cube).
I'm not that familiar with the ins and outs of the Cube, so I can't give you authoritative information on it.

  • What are the 4 partition of a new Elite 8300? Which can I relete? Which impact

    Dear All,
I juts got a new Elite 8300 and I need to have a new partition for data.
I discovered that there already is 4 primary partitions and I can nopt create a new one.
    There are
    - a partition called "system"
    - a large partiton called "os", where is the operating system and data
    - a partition called "recovery"
    - and a unamed partition.
I would like to delete on of them, but I do not the impact of my deletion. My goeal is to have a smaller "os" partition and to have a new partition called "datas"
I supposed I do not have to delete the "system partition", but what happen if I delete "recovery" partition and the unamed partition. I do not care if I do not have a recovery partition. If it crash I can reinstalled the PC and I can use Windows recovery.
Some one can tell me more about the 3 partitons "system, recovery and unamed"?
    Many thankd

You can create logical partitions inside of the current OS partition without affecting the four primary partitions.
The four partition limitation is only for primary partitions. Use the diskpart utility to create a logical partition inside of the largest partition.
Partitions on your PC. (all are primary partitions)
the C: (OS) partition contains the operating system
the D: partition(recovery) contains the recovery partition
the System partition belongs to the Windows OS. (it is wise to leave it alone)
the HP_Tools partition contains  the UEFI environment (PC Hardware Diagnostics)
The following video is in French and English. It does give a good demonstration on how to create primary and logical partitions
    Best regards,
    erico

Exporting photos for UHDTV or Native 4K TV, what are the best settings ? (File: Quality File: Color Space, Image Sizing and resolution)   Or in other words; How can I get the smallest files but keep good quality for display on new UHDTV

You're welcome, and thank you for the reply.
    2) Yesterday I made the subclips with the In-Out Points and Command-U, the benefit is that I've seen the clip before naming it. Now I'm using markers, it's benefit is that I can write comment and (the later) clip name at once, the drawback is that I have to view to the next shot's beginning before knowing what the shot contains.
But now I found out that I can reconnect my clips independently to the format I converted the master clip to. I reconnected the media to the original AVI file and it worked, too! The more I work with, the more I'm sold on it... - although it doesn't seem to be able to read and use the date information within the DV AVI.
    1) Ok, I tried something similar within FCE. Just worked, but the file size still remains. Which codec settings should I use? Is the export to DV in MOV with a quality of 75% acceptable for both file size and quality? Or would be encoding as H.264 with best quality an option for archiving, knowing that I have to convert it back to DV if I (maybe) wan't to use it for editing later? Or anything else?
    Thank's in advance again,
    André

  • What is a bootable backup and do i need one? what are partitions good for?

    hello,
    please excuse my ignorance...
i just got a new lacie external firewire hard drive and it has some software which i was wandering if i have any use for... - SilverKeeper and LaCie Backup Software. i'm not sure if they can give me anything that time machine doesn't do better... SilverKeeper gives the option of cloning a bootable backup. i'm not exactly sure what's the advantage of this and in what case i may need it.
when i got my last computer i was able to transfer everything from the old computer, including applications, to the new one without having to find all the serial numbers and reinstall them. i thought that time machine will be able to do the same thing if i lose all the data on my computer. is that not so? is that what a bootable clone is for? or what is it for?...
my other question is what are the advantages of making partitions in my new drive (i understand i have to if i want a bootable backup, but is there any reason to partition otherwise?
    thanks!
    dannah

SilverKeeper gives the option of cloning a bootable backup. i'm not exactly sure what's the advantage of this and in what case i may need it.
A bootable backup is an exact copy of your hard drive's contents on another drive, that can be used for booting up the machine. The advantage of a bootable backup is that, in the event something bad happens to your internal drive, you can very quickly get up and running with the backup drive, and can copy that back to a replaced/fixed internal drive very quickly. Time Machine backups are not bootable.
The disadvantage of a clone of any kind, bootable or not, is that there's only one version of any particular file stored. So if a file gets damaged and then backed up, you're pretty well screwed with the clone, while Time Machine stores many versions of the file, so you just "roll back" to the last working copy.
when i got my last computer i was able to transfer everything from the old computer, including applications, to the new one without having to find all the serial numbers and reinstall them.
Bad idea... while this will work for most apps, different machines have different architectures, so some apps may not be installed correctly for the new machine, plus you may not have properly copied some components. You should have reinstalled them.
i thought that time machine will be able to do the same thing if i lose all the data on my computer. is that not so?
If you have Time Machine back up the entire hard drive, without excluding anything, then Time Machine should be able to restore your drive to exactly the way it was at any particular moment in time at which it made a backup, including apps, system files, preferences, etc.
my other question is what are the advantages of making partitions in my new drive (i understand i have to if i want a bootable backup, but is there any reason to partition otherwise?
You do not have to partition to make a bootable backup. However, you'll be using the entire drive... trying to store additional files on the same drive as a bootable clone is confusing at best. Using a partition allows you to create multiple "virtual" drives... say, one for a bootable backup, one for a Time Machine backup, one for movie files, etc. Of course, this is only advisable if the drive is much larger than the one you're backing up, and note that if you store original files on a partition (like a bunch of movie files), you need a backup of those somewhere else.
Time Machine will want it's own full drive or partition to play with, which should be larger than the drive being backed up, and will eventually fill it. A bootable clone probably also should go onto its own partition, but you wouldn't need to make this partition larger than the drive being cloned. Other than that, don't worry about partitioning unless you have a specific need.

  • Satellite A100-153: What are verical and horizontal refresh rates for my display

How can I found out what are verical and horizontal refresh rates for my display?

    Hi
Do you mean the vertical and horizontal display resolution???
Anyway all informations should be listed in the user manual.
I dont know exactly what appendix is it but it must be placed somewhere at the end of the user manual.
Such infos are listed also in my user manual which was delivered and preinstalled on my Satellite notebook.

  • What are the best settings for a retina display image?

If we Export for Web then view it on a retina display monitor, the image lines look blurry and it's not as crisp as non-retina display monitors.
What are the best settings when intended for retina display monitors while keeping the file size down?
    Thanks!

Mark, yes a DVD will play back on a HDTV, just the quality will not match the capability of the playback device. This is certainly the easiest approach though.
As the article you referenced says, ensuring that your previews are set to a larger pixel dimension than your required output will ensure maximum quality, given that you will more than likely have movement on the images in the slide show I would suggest going with pixel dimensions that are at least 1920px.
Let us know how you go.

  • What are the steps if; the disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved

I'm to install windows XP software, and I can partition the disk.  If state, "The disk cannot be partitioned because some files canot be moved."  What are the steps to complete partition to install windows XP?

Ok  what happens with Bootcamp is it needs to carve out a contiguous free space at the bottom of your hard drive.
If it can't do that then it can't make the partition.
What has happened is there are some files down in closer in the bottom part of the drive, this occurs if you've had a hard drive nearly full, performed a software update, installed programs and then removed some files leaving parts and large empty spaces.
So what to do to fix this?
Well your going to have to learn how to clone your OS X boot partition, with all your programs and files to a external drive, which you can then hold the option key and boot from it.
Then you run Disk Utility from the clone, erase the OS X partition on the internal drive and clone everything right back.
This will place everything in order, move everything up and nice and compact at the top of the drive, which will allow you to make a BootCamp partition as big as you have room for.
It will also make your comptuer perform a bit faster too.
Cloning back and forth is rather safe, because you always have a hold option key bootable clone, either on the internal drive or the external drive, your computer will work from either.
What you don't want to use is Defrag software, that moves things around while the computer is running and messes things up quite a bit and really doesn't optimize as well or as safely as a clone.
In fact I just assisted a person who did just that and royally messed up their machine, requiring a complete rebuild of everything.
So read through this thread of mine and grasp things and you'll be cloning your boot drive in no time.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16276201#16276201
Remember that cloning can't clone Filevaulted drives or Bootcamp partitions, also it only (at this time) clones the OS X partition, which for Snow Leopard is the whole drive usually (minus Bootcamp partition.)
However if your on Lion, Carbon Copy Cloner doesn't quite yet clone the hidden Lion Recovery Partition, so when you clone you won't have it on the external drive but the computer will boot off the external drive just fine without it.
So when you go to erase the Lion internal drive, you need to erase only the OS X Lion Partition not the entire drive before reverse cloning.
You should make a Lion Recovery USB if you have Lion, as only through Lion Recvoery can you reinstall Lion now. Instrucitons are in my thread.
The way you can tell if your selecting a partition or a entire drive in Disk Utility is how far left it is.
The far left are devices and the slightly indented items are partitions or media using that device.
    Good Luck

  • What are Displays?

    Hello,
Sorry to bother you again with my simples questions. I checked on the documentation before asking and didn't find an answer. So can anyone tell me what are "Displays"? I find them in the Logical Model, the Relational Model and the different Subviews...
In [this document|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E18464_01/doc.30/e15802.pdf] , I didn't find anything relevant describing its purpose.
    Thanks in advanse,

    Hello,
displays allow to represent the same set of objects in different way - you can play with diagram and objects options in order to express better your ideas. You can change color for objects (in particular display), can change notation, details level (and size) ...

  • What are the differences between the Apple 64GB iPad Air with Retina Display and the Apple 64 iPad with Retina Display MD512LL/A 4th Generation

what are the differences between the Apple 64GB iPad Air with Retina Display and the Apple 64 iPad with Retina Display MD512LL/A 4th Generation ?

The iPad with retina display only comes in the 16GB version and it has the A6 processor which is a step down from the Air model. Having said that, I stream movies on my iPad 3 with retina and it has the A5 processor and the movies stream just fine as does everything else that I do on the internet.
If 16GB is enough storage for you, the $100 savings compared to an iPad Air model is a fair amount of money and that might sway me if I was just worried about saving some money. However, that's not my style. I always go for the largest capacity that I can afford and the faster processor if I have the choice.
Having said that, if it were me, I would select the 32 GB iPad Air. But in spite of the information that you provided in which you want to base your decision, only you can be the judge of what will be best for you, and remember that you cannot add storage capacity to the decide later. You can purchase external WiFi drives if you need the storage, but to me, that takes away from having the really small footprint and portability of only having to carry the iPad around gives you.
