What are the best tools for converting .shg files to HTML image maps?

After trying several different ways to import our WinHelp
project into RH HTML, I'm left with recreating the project in HTML.
There are over 200 .shg files. What's the best tool for converting
them? Is there a free program that converts them? Or is there a
better way?
Lacona

Yes, I have not been able to import the .hlp file, which was
my last posted question/issue. I have tried creating a Microsoft
HTML layout in RH4 Word; it begins to compile and, somewhere in the
process, just freezes. I've tried importing the .hlp file into RH
HTML; same result. I've tried creating a new HTML project with the
.hlp file; same result. If I could import the file, it'd be great.
Otherwise, I'll need to recreate the entire project, which brings
me to converting the .shg files. Any ideas?

  • What is the best software for converting video files to .ogg format?

In trying to html5 compliant I want to convert my video files to the .ogg format. After a lot of searching for video converters, I cannot find one that does this; although several claim to but actually don't. Converting audio isn't so much of a problem. So, can you suggest a tool for converting video files to .ogg format?

  • What are the best tools for opening very large XML files and examining the tree and confirming they are valid?

I am generating some very large XML files (600,000+ lines, 50MB+ characters). I finally have them all being valid XML and valid UTF-8.
But the files are so large Safari and Chrome will often not open them. FireFox will though.
Instead of these browsers, I was wondering if there are there any other recommended apps for the Mac for opening and viewing the XML, getting an error message if they are not valid for some reason and examing the XML tree?
I opened the file in the default app for XML which is Xcode, but that is just like opening it in a plain text editor. You can't expand/collapse the XML tree like you can with a browser, and it doesn't report errors.
    Thanks,
    Doug

    Hi Tom,
I had not seen that list. I'll look it over.
I'm also in touch with the developer of BBEdit (they are quite responsive) and they are willing to look at the file in question and see why it is not reporting UTF-8 errors while Chrome is.
For now I have all the invalid characters quashed and things are working. But it would be useful in the future.
By the by, some of those editors are quite pricey!

  • What are the best settings to convert .mts files to Prores

    Hi friends,
Trying to figure out some settings. I am a novice editor so please forgive lame terminology in advance:
I have footage shot on a Canon Vixia HF M500. I am editing in Premiere Pro CC on a MAC with OS 10 Mavericks. I tried editing directly from the .mts files, but it doesn't scroll through footage well unless I render. Also if I add any effects like a fade in, etc it wants me to render the entire clip. I think my best workflow will be to convert the files to Prores prior to editing. I generally output all of my masters as Prores anyway so it seems like the logical choice.
What I can't figure out is which settings to use. I'm converting using Adobe Prelude CC (which then uses Adobe Media Encoder CC). I installed a group of Prores presets and my four main choices are:
    1080i, 29.97
    1080p, 29.97
    1080i, 23.97
    1080p, 23.97
The camera itself has three settings 30p, 24p, and 60i. The 24p and 60i are both interlaced (even though 24p shouldn't be) so I use 30p. I'm pretty sure the correct setting for me to transcode to is 1980p, 29.97 but not sure how to determine that. When I look at the .mts files in Premiere it tells me they are 29.97. Do I have to match that when I transcode? Not sure how to know whether they are 1080i or 1080p. I'm hoping it's 1080p because working with interlaced footage is a major drag. Also, does it even matter? If it's transcoding anyway, can I just pick whatever setting I want and that becomes the new normal.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the response Johnathan. I noitced that videos converted using the iPad preset did look ok on the mini, I was just curious if having more bespoke settings would create videos that would maximise the smaller screen real estate???

  • What is the best product for converting MTS files (NOT on camera or in root directory) for editing in Final Cut

    Hello all,
I have read the forums and know that I cannot use the Log and Transfer function on Final Cut Express 4.0 for my AVCHD files (from my Panasonic HC-V700) AFTER I have transfered the files out of the original root directory.  Unfortunately, I did not know this until recently and I have a bunch of old footage in .mts form that I copied onto my harddrive WITHOUT the root directory.  I now must get it into Final Cut Express 4.0.1. and I would like to use a Log and Transfer style program so that I can select what I need and erase the rest.  I know about the program VoltaicHD which can be used for this purpose.  I have not yet purchased it, but I will if this is my best option.  The downsides to it are that it takes a lot of time to process the files (i hear from this forum) and that it creates extremely large files (hearsay from this forum, though I would like to know just how big those files are and how they compare to the size of files final cut creates). When I tried the trial version, I also noticed that unlike the log and transfer function in Final Cut Express 4.0.1, you cannot capture multiple subclips from a single clip.  Well you can, but you have to load the clip into the viewing window again, which is not ideal.
I would love some more advice on this.  I imagine other people have made this same mistake and have had to figure their way out of it.
I was also wondering is it possible to use Final Cut Express's Log and Transfer program directly from files if they are in a different file format.  So far my experiments with this have failed.  But if this is possible, I suppose I can also just convert all the backlogged files wholesale into a format that Final Cut Express supports more easily for Log and Transfer (What file format would this be? Sorry I am new to this).  My new harddrive has a lot of free space, so I could probably handle the huge amount of storage that this would require for the raw footage and then I could erase it after I log and transfer just what I need.   In which case, do folks have recommendations for a file convertor.  I am dealing with over hundreds of files and I don't think the free online convertors would work. This product has been suggested to me, but I know very little about it.
    Thanks!
    Mira

I am also finding, when I use Voltaic trial version, that the quicktime movies it creates are of inferior quality than those created through log and transfer into final cut express and imovie, particularly during rapid movement. There's a lot of visible lines running horizontally around areas of rapid movement (not sure what the lingo is for this).
Anyway, now I am getting accustomed to the idea that my best bet is probably just a high quality converter to get my mts files into something more useable by final cut.  At this point, I am willing to sit through the render time that it will take on final cut express while I edit.  I am just trying to get my footage into workable format without losing quality.
    Thank you!

  • What is the best tools for analyzer VoIP

I need ur help, i looking the tool helps analyzer VoIP in WAN/TDM. What is the best tool for Cisco System or wich recommends.
    Thxs!

    Hey turbot,
Thanks for contacting National Instruments support.  Each set of the vis you mention are the latest, and some use similar methods to do the FFT than the other.  The SMT is usually the best in most applications.  There is also another option in the case of scope, you can fetch FFT data from the driver.  The FFT is not actually implemented in hardware, but in the driver, and this is transparent to the user.  It's simpler to use, but not as efficient as the SMT.
I hop this answers your questions.  Let me know if I can be of further help.

  • What are the needed tools for JDBC???

iam new to this field, i want to know what are the required tools for JDBC??
i know that i need java.sql and javax.sql packages, but how can i get them???
    what about the drivers???
    thnx in advance

You need to go to the vendor's web site such as Oracle and download the jar file for that particular database. Example: ojdbc14.jar for an oracle database and copy it to the 'lib' folder of your project and then include it with your project. Within that jar file, you will have datasource, preparedStatement, resultSet objects. You will need to read up on how to instansiate the datasource for that database from the vendor's documentation.

  • What are the best practies for naming symbols (spaces OK,etc.)?

What are the best practices for symbol naming for ease, flexibility, & to avoid "gatchas" down the road?
Does it make any difference if one includes spaces in the names of symbols?  Are there any widely followed conventions for naming them like using camelCase or underscores?
    Thanks!

    Hi Gina D 3333,
Best-practice file-naming conventions for PDF files are the same as for any other file. I found this article on Apple's website that contains some useful pointers to consider when you're naming files that will be used on multiple platforms: OS X: Cross-platform filename best practices and conventions
    I hope this helps!

  • What are the best approaches for mapping re-start in OWB?

What are the best approaches for mapping re-start in OWB?
We are using OWB repository 10.2.0.1.0 and OWB client 10.2.0.1.31. The Oracle version is 10 G (10.2.0.3.0). OWB is installed on Linux.
We have number of mappings. We built process flows for mappings as well.
I like to know, what are the best approches to incorportate re-start options in our process. ie a failure of mapping in process flow.
How do we re-cycle failed rows?
Are there any builtin features/best approaches in OWB to implement the above?
Does runtime audit tables help us to build re-start process?
If not, do we need to maintain our own tables (custom) to maintain such data?
How did our forum members handled above situations?
    Any idea ?
    Thanks in advance.
    RI

    Hi RI,
How many mappings (range) do you have in a process flows?Several hundreds (100-300 mappings).
If we have three mappings (eg m1, m2, m3) in process flow. What will happen if m2 fails?Suppose mappings connected sequentially (m1 -> m2 -> m3). When m2 fails then processflow is suspended (transition to m3 will not be performed). You should obviate cause of error (modify mapping and redeploy, correct data, etc) and then repeat m2 mapping execution from Workflow monitor - open diagram with processflow, select mapping m2 and click button Expedite, choose option Repeat.
In re-start, will it run m1 again and m2 son on, or will it re-start at row1 of m2?You can specify restart point. "at row1 of m2" - I don't understand what you mean (all mappings run in Set based mode, so in case of error all table updates will rollback,
but there are several exception - for example multiple target tables in mapping without corelated commit, or error in post-mapping - you must carefully analyze results of error).
What will happen if m3 fails?Process is suspended and you can restart execution from m3.
By having without failover and with max.number of errors=0, you achieve re-cycle failed rows to zero (0).This settings guarantee existence only two return result of mapping - SUCCSES or ERROR.
What is the impact, if we have large volume of data?In my opinion for large volume Set based mode is the prefered processing mode of data processing.
With this mode you have full range enterprise features of Oracle database - parallel query, parallel DML, nologging, etc.

  • What are the best settings for ripping cd's in the AAC format?

I have researched and found out that the AAC format rules over the MP3 format as fas as sound quality goes with lossy formats. Example: AAC at 128 is better than MP3 at 160 as so forth. My questions are: What are the best settings for ripping cd's in the AAC format? Will I be able to burn cd mixes with the tracks I import into itunes after importing using the AAC format? Does the AAC format have VBR like the MP3 format? Is there other ripping software such as dbPoweramp and Exact Audio Copy that does a better job ripping cd's in the AAC format? Please help!

    mysteryroach wrote:

It is a matter of opinion, but I suggest 256 kb/s, CBR, and leave all other settings on automatic.
Will I be able to burn cd mixes with the tracks I import into itunes after importing using the AAC format?
Yes. Just put them in a playlist and burn.
Does the AAC format have VBR like the MP3 format?
Yes. You will see it as an option in the Import Settings.
Is there other ripping software such as dbPoweramp and Exact Audio Copy that does a better job ripping cd's in the AAC format?
EAC does a better job of correcting errors in damaged CDs, but for normal CDs iTunes does a fine job of ripping to AAC.

  • What are the best practices for generating an EPS logo from InDesign?

Our costomer is running into technical issues with the logo we sent them, which was exported from Indesign. Images were not embedded and fonts missing. I was able to embed the images and fonts. However, we DO NOT want them to be able to make any text changes. So after exporting an eps, I opened the file in Adobe Illustrator and made all the text outlines. I hope this works. But I just wanted to post the question on what are the best practices for doing this?
The client needs the logo with transparent background, images emebdded and type in outlines. Also, they need some space around the text. When I exported the eps, the file is right up on the edge of the type.

It sounds like you are pretty far from "best practice" with regard to logo design and delivery.
These days, the very use of the EPS format should be considered bad practice, and some other terms in your post, (i.e., 'images,' 'missing fonts'), make it sound like there is not a seasoned logo designer involved.
That said, you probably already got the advice you need to get out of the immediate jam. However, without proper logo design, you and the client will soon be facing other problems. You should be delivering a 100% vector graphic in single-color (black) and corporate-color(s) versions, with no live font data, that has been test-scaled to very small and very large sizes; ensuring it will work at postage-stamp size and on the side of a truck or building, with specific spot color(s) and proportions that will enable it to be offset printed, embroidered and screen-printed on apparel, and cut into signage materials and decals.

  • What are the best practice for CQ5.5 configuration?

    Hello,
What are the best practice for CQ5.5 configuration which handle for High availability.
Last time I had a issues on server when I was uploaded 2 GB of DAM and then after that the server is not able to start and always getting error regarding Tar Persistance.
So kindly request you to please let me know what are the best apache felix configuration.
    Thanks in advance...
    Regards,
    Satish

    Hi,
A DAM upload, regardless of the size of the assets, never should result in TarPM problems, unless you run into an OOM, which left the repository in an unclean state. So if you regularly do DAM uploads of that size, you should check the Garbage Collection logs and probably adjust the heapsize if necessary. You might want to limit the number of concurrent running workflows to keep the memory consumption a bit lower.
To your question: HA in a traditional sense you cannot achieve with a single box, even with optimized settings. In an author usecase you would need clustering.

  • What are the best practices for the RCU's schemas

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is some best practices about the RCU's schemas created with BIEE.
I already have discoverer (and application server), so I have a metadata repository for the Application Server. I will upgrade Discoverer 10g to 11, so I will create new schema with RCU in my metada repository (MR) of the Application Server. I'm wondering if I can put the BIEE's RCU schemas in the same database.
    Basically,
    1. is there a standard for the PREFIX ?
    2. If I have multiple components of Fusion in the same Database, I will have multiples PREFIX_MDS schema ? Can they have the same PREFIX ? Or They all need to have a different prefix ?
For exemple: DISCO_MDS and BIEE_MDS or I can have DEV_MDS and this schema is valid for both Discoverer and BIEE.
    Thank you !

thats way too vague of a question... best what?  quality? size? playback?
best quality then use high bitrate, small size use low bitrate.
