What are the difference between Activity types & SKFs

Can any body help me regarding, what are the main differences between Activity Types & Statistical Key Figures(SKFs).

Both are used as tracing figures. The major difference is that Activity type has price on its own and its gets summed up at the time of allocation. The sum figures debited to the receiving cost object and credited to sending cost object. Activity type cannot stand alone.
But it is not the case with SKF. SKF are only used as tracing factors and do not have price unlike activity type.
Example
In the case of activity allocation of Labour hours, the activity type of Labour with price shall be used.
In the case of statistical figure, take the example of Canteen expenses and its allocation between the Cost objects on the basis of head count of each cost object. :

What are the differences between inactive and active ABAP objects?

Can anybody tell me what are the differences between inactive and active ABAP objects?
In my opinion, an active object is compiled and system wide available, that means the system do not have to compile the program again before run or use the object. While An inactive object is not system wide available and every time you run an inactive object, firstly the abap runtime will have to generate a tempory runtime object and this inactive object can not seen by others.
Am I right? Can anybody kindly tell me other differences?

"If we just saved that one means it is stored in application server not in database": no - the inactive version is also stored in the database. You can log off and log on and it will still be there, in its inactive status.
"Only active objects can be executed.": no - inactive objects can be executed by you
When you create or modify a program, it is inactive until you activate it.
With a change, there are two versions of the program stored in the database - the active version (as it was before you made your change), and the inactive version. If you attempt to run the program, you'll run the inactive version - the one with your changes. Everyone else on the system will run the active version.
In this way, you can make changes without affecting anyone else.
Once you activate your program, then the inactive version becomes the active version.
With a create, there is no active version, until you hit the activate button. This means ONLY you can run the program.
An additional benefit of this model, is that if you make a change, save it, and then change your mind without activating, you can recover the active version into the editor, using version management.
A downside is that sometimes you have to activate your change before you can test it, if it interacts with other, active, programs.

Please let me rephrase/extend a bit what was stated so far:
Statistical key figures can be also understood as properties/attributes of a cost center being an "object": area, number of cars, headcount,... They can be used for descriptive/statistical purposes but mostly they act as indexes in cost center allocations. For example, an invoice for energy consumption is booked on one "collective" cost center and then alocated to other CCs e.g. by number of employees.
Activity types are used to valuate typical cost center activities. Amongst other purposes, they are used for direct activity allocations to PP orders where indirect overheads are not suitable. Another purpose is to reallocate internal activities between cost centers to avoid intracompany invoicing. As example, Engineering supports sales dept. with some special drawings. This activity is valuated per hour and used to debit the receiving CC via TC KB21N.
Result of both SKF and AT postings is in crediting the sender -> cost center over/underabsorption.

PA is based on Infotypes 0000-0999. PD is based on Infotypes 1000-1999, chief being Objects Infotype 1000. Objects Infotype is the source of different Object Types such as Person, Position, Org Unit etc. You can check that through transaction OOOT.

What are the differences between tracing and hierarchical profiler?

There are many terms used by people, I am just wondering what are the differences between tracing and hierarchical profiler? Aren't they the same thing?

Instrumentation and tracing are two different things; in fact they belong to two different categories - one's a thing the other's an activity.
Tracing is following the execution path of a program. Tracing shows us the the calls a program makes, perhaps the internal choices it makes (ifs and whiles), exceptions thrown, etc,
Instrumentation is code we build into our program to produce a record of its status. There are different techniques, from using DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO calls to monitor status to writing log tables or files. Instrumentation can be used to generate a trace; it can do profiling; it can provide information reports on outputs and exceptions.
In my opinion DBMS_TRACE and DBMS_HPROF are not instrumentation, because they are external to the program under investigation, rather than built into it. However, there is an obvious overlap between the insight they provide and what we might do with our own logging.

When we create a new variable in BPEL we get the option to create 'simple', 'message type', 'element'
I would like to know what is the difference between message type and element.

A message is part of the service and is usually assigned to one of the operations in the wsdl. For example getPhoneNumer() operation may have an input message of personInput and output of phoneNum. These messages would have a type...maybe of string or decimal or a complex type with multiple values.
An element is typically a complex type that could be defined in an xsd file.
When you create a variable in the bpel, you can declare it as a message or a simple type or an element. As I understand it, the simple types are pre-defined in the schema namespace such as string, decimal, date, etc.
The elements are defined in the xsd files or wsdls and can be a combination of strings, dates, etc or other stuff as well.
The messages are defined in the wsdl as part of the input/output but they are typically assigned a type just like other variables you create.

If we want to implement IFRS, I think New GL functionality is very helpful, but why sap is recommending only for ECC6.0 new GL functionality, Eventhough this functionality is available in ECC5.0.

PB00 condition type is used for automatic pricing in PO
PBXX condition type is used for manual pricing in PO
In Pricing access sequence play a vital role . If you need pricing automatic in the PO, you have use of Access Sequences and Schema Group of Vendor.You can see the difference in both standard condition type PB00 and PBXX, where as PB00 is assigned to Access sequence(0002)but in case of PBXX no access sequense assigned.

I came to know after Oracle acquired BEA, the ALSB is renamed as OSB.
I'm curious to know what are the differences between ESB and OSB.

the 'old' esb has been renamed to mediator and is now only used as component in your sca application.
the two service buses can't really be compared since the osb (former alsb) has way more functionality in it.
Oracle gave it it's own place in his soa portfolio and the old esb can only be used als mediator in your sca application.
On top of your sca application you could use the OSB to complete your architecture design.
the difference between both.
esb (now used as mediator) can only be used in your sca application
in here you will use it mostly for routing/transformation, and there is some functionality for assign/java callouts conditional routing
the osb is complete product with a lot of functionality in it. Everything you used the old 'esb' for can be done in the OSB and with a lot of extra's.
routing/transformation/service call outs/java callouts/transport virtualization/security/and more and more
you should read the guides of the OSB to get an idea of everything it can do for you.

I believe that the basic idea is Logos is what is going on behind the scenes at the base level and Logos XT lets you build your own networking protocols on top of Logos. Logos XT would be used if you want to make your own networking protocol instead of using TCP/IP or UDP.
