What are the perks to pre-ordering movie rentals in the itunes store?

You can purchase music using multiple accounts within the same Windows profile & using the same iTunes library. I think when you log into the store it remembers the last account name used, but provided you don't let it remember your password then you have the opportunity to enter the correct details for each purchase.
If you're going to place these purchases on your respective iPod's the following may help.
*How to use multiple iPods with one computer*
The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer suggests a number of ways. I use method two (Sync with selected playlists) with a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
e.g.
"Alice's Tracks" is "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
"Bob's Videos" is "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
etc.
I currently manage our family's five iPods using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their iPod. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.

  • What's the point of pre-ordering an album?

A couple of weeks ago I pre-ordered the Glee Soundtrack Vol. 2 priced @$9.99
It just became available and I got an email advising me I can now download it. When I do, I get a pop-up saying that the final price is now $12.99 not the $9.99 that was displayed when I pre-ordered it and I will be charged the $12.99!!
How is this possible? In every other store, not only are you guaranteed the pre-order price no matter how much the "final" price ends up being, but you actually will get the item for less should the "final" price happen to drop from the time you pre-order to the time you actually receive it.
What exactly is the purpose in pre-ordering if Apple forces you to pay the new higher price anyway? This seems totally unfair and unjustifiable.
Sorry, am I ranting for nothing? Am I missing something? Is there some method I am missing that I am to use to d/l the album at the price at which I originally agreed?

It's so funny you mentioned this, I'm currently having the same problem with the same album. I actually just finished sending iTunes an email about it (supposed to get back to me within 24 hours) and then found this article. I would suggest you do the same, but if you don't I'll try to remember to post back what I hear from them. I've always had great support for the odd thing that didn't work properly (like a glitch in a TV show or something) so I'm sure they'll clear this up without a problem. I asked the same thing too though, about what price I actually get charged, so hopefully I'll also get a response to that too. But yes, according to most pre-order rules in other stores, it should be the price we pre-ordered it for. Oh and yes I've checked for available downloads from the iTunes Store menu, but it just told me everything has been downloaded already. I double-checked my library to be sure it hadn't downloaded in the background but it was definitely not there. It has not downloaded yet.

  • Does BB care that customers are unhappy about the iPhone 5 pre-order process? Should they?

It is obvious that there are more than a few customers who are unhappy with the iPhone 5 pre-order process. In my case I was unhappy with it. BB kept pointing the finger at Apple. It is well documented in the press that Apple has redirected supply to Apple customers then to phone companies. So, although still unhappy, I was buying BB's explanation.
Fast forward to this past Saturday. I received an email that my iPhone is ready for pick up. Due to prior commitments over the weekend I planned on picking up the phone on Monday. On Sunday I get an email stating that if I don't pick up my phone by Tuesday my preorder would be canceled. I gave it no thought. This morning (Monday) I got a reminder email. Still everything is good, because I'm going to pick it up today.
I walked into the store seconds after the door was unlocked. I hand my paperwork to the salesman in the mobile department. He asked me if I had received a phone call. I said no. He said there was no iphone for me. I showed him the emails on my phone. The net result is that I do not yet have my iphone. I am expecting someone at BB to blame the emails on Apple.
Does BB care about the fact that there are disgruntled customers? Should they? They no longer have any brick and mortar competitors. Since they have a monopoly in most markets, should they even bother to care? Caring would probably eat into their profits.

They absolutely should care.  The thing about the iPhone is that it is a product that makes a large splash.  People can instantly talk about it since it is statistically a good ice breaker.  One of the first things I talk about when I discuss my iPhone with other's is where to buy it and I have not recommended Best Buy for the way they have handled this exact scenario.  When they found out what had happend they could have at the very least offered to price match Walmart for the 16GB version.
As far as the competition is concerned.  I say that I will be purchasing the more costly electronics online or Costco.  I am through with Best Buy.  I will stop in periodically and "play" with the item's I am interested in purchasing but no longer will I buy from them.
By blaming Apple for this and given that Apple has done this to them in the past, I can only wonder how they did not see this coming.  If I were in a situation where I knew the supplier would even consider Shorting me on supply I would demand a written and legally binding statement by that supplier that I would not get stiffed for the devices.  It only makes sense that if you have a contract to sell then you have a contract to secure your supply.
If this contract existed we would be hearing about a lawsuit against Apple by Best Buy but they don't have this agreement so they just look amature and naiive.
Good luck to you in getting your phone.  I simply walked into an Apple Store in Cupertino CA on 09/21/12 at 5PM and walked out by 5:30PM with all my contacts and email set up.

  • Where is the pre-order movies tab in iTunes Store on iPad running iOS 8.1.2

I am trying to find the Pre-order movies tab that existed BEFORE IOS 8 that allowed you to preview upcoming movies that would be released in the next few weeks. Since IOS 8 it has disappeared...or I am blind as a bat and can't find it. Anyone have a clue if it still exists or it was a casualty of IOS 8
    i am using IOS 8.1.2
    Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply. I did check your suggestion but that sorts the current movies that have been released not the upcoming ones.
Here is an example: The movie "Fury" is being released Dec 30th. On the MAC iTunes (Yosemite) you can go to Movies-Pre Order Movies and look at Dec 30
On the iPad you have to search for the movie by name and not go to a tab that shows you ALL the movies being released on Dec 30
    I do appreciate your help.

  • It is unclear the advantage to pre-ordering the new iPhone 5. What I have read is that it will ship on the 21st? If so the only way to get one on the 21st is go stand in line. Please correct me if I am wrong.

It is unclear the advantage to pre-ordering the new iPhone 5. What I have read is that it will ship on the 21st if you pre-order? If so the only way to get one on the 21st is go stand in line. Please correct me if I am wrong.

if you don't have time to stand in line or don't want to risk getting there too late and leaving empty handed from the apple store preordering will guarantee you one but possibly in a slightly longer timeframe

  • Re: What is the point of pre-ordering ... ?

I also had the same problem with Shadow Of Mordor at my Best Buy in Columbia / Elkridge, Maryland. I made sure to pre-order Sunday so I would get the $10.00 in certificates. I planned to pick it up today, 3 days after release date. The Pre-order card states that the product will be held for FIVE DAYS. I went in to Best Buy today to pay off and pick up my pre-order, only to find out that they were sold out. The employee said that after 48 hours of not picking up the game, they sold everything they had. I didn't have money until today. A pre-order IS A RESERVATION. That makes absolutely no sense to me. Now I don't have the game, and I'll miss out on the points because of them. I'm very angry.

    Good morning Miadaskate.
A pre-order placed within one of your Best Buy stores should be held for at least 5 days before being placed back onto the sales floor.  If your pre-order for Middle-earth: Shadows of Mordor was put back onto the sales floor after only two days, then I can understand why you might feel angry.  Being that a pre-order needs to be picked up within 7 days of the official release to qualify for the "Get $10" bonus points, your time would be limited if your pre-order was sold to someone else.
I am very sorry for any inconvenience you may have experienced, as that is not the level of service that Best Buy strives to provide its customers.  While looking over your account history, I noticed that you were able to pick-up your pre-order yesterday.  That was within 7 days, so your pre-order should qualify for the 500 bonus points.  You should see those bonus points post to your My Best Buy™ account within about 20 days.  Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum and game on!

  • Pre-order movies - Why no invoices and proof of agreed payment?

I pre ordered a movie to save some money..  (14.99 vs 19.99) then the day comes when it comes out and my invoice says its 19.99.
Upon doing a little research, I realized, I never got an invoice of my pre-order showing the amount I actually pre-ordered for. Then, looking at my account page to check my pending pre-orders, they only show the movie and a cancel button.
You really don't get a confirmation how much you agreed to pay until the movie is out and ready to be downloaded. (Day you are actually charged)
This is the first time, I am not happy with Apple..
In my opinion you SHOULD confirm via email the person's pre-order and the amount he or she agreed to pay at the time of ordering. If you go and change the prices on me, why should I bother to pre-order anything? Smartly you leave the customer with no records, unless he or she takes a screenshot. (Which I now did and I have a little database to reference) If I am wrong, please advise why we don't get an invoice etc.. I would love to be proven wrong here. Especially, since I am a HUGE apple fan and this is the first time, I am truly disappointed and have the feeling of being duped. (Something Apple never had to stoop to, since the products speak for themselves)
    Thoughts?

    Hi Gail,
No worries, I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
I was more hoping for someone at Apple to reply and advise on this "invoicing system" .. as well as raise the issue to other customers.
Amongst my remaining 4 pre orders, I have one, of "Interstellar". By the time I figured out that I am actually charged more than I recall paying for at the time of my pre order, the charge went up to 19.99. When I placed the pre order, I am fairly certain it was 14.99. No proof at this point and of course, I can go and cancel that pre-order. But I would also cancel the original price I purchased this at. If only there was some way to track it. (that somewhat the reason why i started the post) All other pre-orders, I went in, clicked the purchase button and took a screenshot of the popup that notifies me that I already purchased the item. Thus, proving the purchase as well as showing the price in the background. (while it is at 14.99).
Anyways, I am probably making that sound more complicated than it needs to be.. still, the question remains.. how do I or other customers know what they paid for in a pre-sale? Once the item is out and the movie confirmed as purchased via invoice at the date of release, there is no going back.. no returns and at the same time, the customer can't proof a thing. (nor would I want to then get into a "he said, she said" situation with apple)
If I don't get some sort of resolutions, pre-orders will simply not be worth it. I don't want to fight each measly charge via screenshot proofs etc..
Sadly as I am moving to a complete digital movie library for all my purchases, this really is something I would love to get resolved. My library is far to big, to suddenly start moving to an amazon digital library.

  • The Diff Between Pre-Order and Reserved

    Pre-Order:
You walk into the store between the 24th and the 1st of July and walk out with an iPhone 4.
    Reserved:
You stand in line after all the pre-order people have gotten their iPhones (or if they don't show up, their phone is held for 7 days) and any extra phones are given to you, in a first come, first serve of the people who reserved. You are not guaranteed to get one.
    No Pre-Order or Reserve:
You get dibs on the phone after all the reserve people have gotten their phone.
End of story. Please stop asking.

Sorry, that doesn't make any sense. I mean, I get that a lot of people don't know there's even a difference between "pre-order" and "reserve", but why would "reserve" people have to wait until after all the "pre-order" people get their phones? The Apple store employees know not to give away the pre-order phones, I'm assuming they're pulling from a different "pile".
And there have been a few people on here who have said that Apple employees assure them there is an actual phone with their name on it. Difference is, their phone isn't programmed to their account yet and the reservation expires at the end of the day (as opposed to pre-ordered phones which expire after 7 days.) Not that the Apple store employees know all, they sure didn't today, but if it's a consistent answer like this, I'm inclined to believe them. Also, then, what's the point in telling the reservation people to come at 7AM if they're not even going to start giving them out then?

  • For all the folks who pre-order the ZAGG invisible shield for the iPhone 3G

My shield did not fit properly, so I emailed ZAGG. Here is what I got back:
"When we created the design for the Apple iPhone 3G we had very limited access to the actual device. We were able to complete a design for it and get this shipped for our customers so they would have protection for their Apple iPhone 3G as soon as possible. After having more time with the Apple iPhone 3G we have improved our design by making a slight change. This change makes the installation process easier and provides more protection, including covering both bevels fully.
If you would like a replacement invisibleSHIELD for your Apple iPhone 3G for the new design, we would be happy to send you a free warranty replacement.
Per the Lifetime Replacement Guarantee, your replacement invisibleSHIELD is free! The minimal reshipping and handling charge is $3.95 for an estimated 1 - 2 week delivery service for domestic and European orders (three weeks internationally) and includes free application solution and squeegee. If you would like to purchase a faster shipping method, one of our associates would be happy to provide further details.
For the quickest possible service, please call us at 801-263-0699 or toll free at 888-940-9663 and we can take your credit card information over the phone. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, Mountain Time. If it is more convenient, you can provide us with a telephone number where we can reach you, and a customer service representative will contact you. If you would like to use PayPal, please contact us and we will be happy to provide detailed information on that process. Also, if you do not have a PayPal account and are not easily reached via phone, we can email you a money request where you would be able to enter in your credit card information to send us a payment.
After receiving your replacement, we will request that you send your original invisibleSHIELD back to us with your order # or registration number. This will ensure that your lifetime replacement guarantee remains valid"
This is really bad customer service. Because they had to guess on the iPhone 3G measurements, I need to pay out of pocket to get a replacement (shipping cost)??

EVERYONE... I pre-ordered also and got the original one on but it didn't look great so I called and got the new redesigned one sent to me.
IT IS TERRIBLE. The redesigned one is worse than the first one. The front screen wraps around the edges of the phone. If you haven't looked there is a seam that runs around the front glass piece. This causes major air bubbles and making it impossible to put the redesigned on on.
Also the back has its problems too.
    Best solutions.
    1. return it all and get your money back.
    2. get another one reshipped but make sure it is the original.
I got the original one shipped to me again and got it on correctly but after a few days it keeps fraying up. Whats next......

  • I cant download my pre ordered movie

I got an email stating the following:
"Your pre-order of Whiplash is now available for you to download. You can download it now or at any time in the future by visiting Purchased. "
No matter how many times i try, it downloads with an exclamation mark next to it and i cant play the movie. Anyone know how to solve this? Thanks so much!

    @Steveyc405 and Oliver_610
I had the same issue for awhile and I gave up on it. I just recently got up and decided to do something about it, googled it and saw you guys had the same issue. So it gave me motivation to figure it out again. Eventually I figured it out. Hopefully the same steps work for you guys. Not sure what fixed it because I tried two things before I went back to Itunes to reattempt.
My goal was to try to delete cookies. Being new to Mac. I didnt know what i was doing. I ended up erasing my safari history before I figure it out. The second thing I did was go to Safari, Click on Safari (top right) and hit "Reset Safari..." Gave me a few options here. I selected  "Clear History, Reset Top Sites, Remove all website data, Clear the downloads window. I went back to Itunes and my first attempt to redownload a song pop up a notification that I had a preorder available to download.
I hope this helps you guys like it did me. Waiting 21 days for the album sucked after preordering it.

  • Having issues receiving a Pre Ordered Movie

I preordered Mockingjay part 1 and it will not let me have it ,it says I don't have enough money it's paied for I want my movie

I'm not telling you what you did or didn't do, I'm telling you how pre-orders work. See the bolded paragraph below:
    About iTunes Store pre-orders
You can pre-order music and movies from the iTunes Store prior to the public release date.
If you want to purchase a movie or music from the iTunes store, but it isn't yet available, you might be able to pre-order it.
Items you can pre-order have an orange purchase button that displays the pre-order price, instead of the white price button. Most pre-order items also show the expected release date near the pre-order button.
When the item is released, we’ll complete your order and bill your account. If you turned on the option to automatically download prepurchased content in iTunes, the item will automatically appear in the Purchased section of your account. Learn what to do if a billing issue prevents your order from automatically downloading.
Some pre-orders include songs that you can download immediately. When you click the pre-order button, we charge you only for these songs, and they download immediately. We’ll charge you for the rest of the pre-order when it’s released.
No need to be so snarky.

  • Destiny the Taken King pre-order issue

I've brought destiny a while back and I brought the two add on packs well the season pass well they am bringing out the taken king and when I try to pre order it it says not available for purchase even though my friends Ave the only difference is u bought the season pass they brought the two add ons separately any ideas

    Hi guys,
This issue has been reported to the Store team who are investigating the problem. In the mean time we have discovered a workaround that will allow you to pre-order the Taken King expansion for Destiny.
Please note in order to pre-order the Taken King stand alone expansion (without previous expansions) you must own both The Dark Below and House of Wolves expansions or the Destiny season pass.
To pre-order the Taken King DLC first search for the Dark Below expansion or click here. As you already own this content there should be a purchase button with a price of  £0.00.
Select the purchase button and confirm (as long as the price is still £0.00).
Complete the same process for the House of Wolves DLC
Again make sure the price is £0.00 before confirming the purchase.
Go to the Taken King product page and you should have the option to pre-order.
Any questions or if the doesent work please let me know.
    Thanks,
    SFZ

  • HT203433 the book i pre ordered has not appeared. Blow Back by Peter May

    What has occured?
It's disappeared from the list in ibooks.

    Hi kenolpro,
I recommend, using this article, you check and see if the pre-order is still pending, or download it if possible:
    iTunes Store: About Pre-orders
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5714
To view, cancel, or see the expected release dates for your pending pre-orders
Choose Store > View My Appie ID, then click Manage Pre-orders, which located in the Settings section at the bottom of the Account Information screen in iTunes on your computer.
From the Mange Pre-orders screen, click the Cancel button to the right of the pre-order item you would like to cancel. You'll be asked to confirm your pre-order cancellation.
    Cheers!

    Hello Mistaman
Check your purchase history to download previous purchases. Also you can check on your computer in your iTunes folder to see if the purchase has been downloaded. If you find it there you should be able to double click it and it should open in iTunes.
