What are the possible causes of following errors in MAX? Are there any references on how to use MAX?

Hi, it's me again.
I've checked the encoder response in MAX (-ve ccw, +ve cw) and it seems fine. But when the motor moves MAX will generate a following error message. Is my encoder causing the problem or have I made a mistake in the settings? I've checked the connections to the encoder and they are all correctly wired.Could there be other causes of following errors?
The motor does stop earlier when I reduced the following error value, so I'm assuming that the motor stops only when it has reached the set number of following errors and NOT because the motor has reached the target position. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

It may be that the 7344 is missing encoder values, or that the motor isn't tuned correctly. The first thing I'd like for you to check is that the Encoder Counts per Revolution input to the Axis Settings menu in MAX is set correctly (I believe it defaults to 2000 counts). To check this, you can rotate the motor by hand one revolution to see how many counts have accumulated. Most encoders are either 2000 counts per rev or 4000 counts per rev.
Once you have that confirmed, autotune the motors and make sure the values for Kp, Kd, and Ki are resonable. (Kd is often around 10x Kp) Once these are set, start your motors moving slowly and observe the following error. This can be seen under the Advanced tab of the 1D Interactive menu. If it is slowly incrementing, t
hen your're missing counts. If it is negative, then the encoder phases may be backward. If there is no following error, or the count stays constant, then try increasing the speed. It could just be that your encoder sends pulses too fast for the 7344 to read.
Let me know how it goes.

My Macbook Pro is getting hot pretty quickly. What are the possible causes?  I have had the machine about 3 years.

Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
Install iStat Menus 4.05 to provide actual temperature readings and fan speeds.

  • HT3546 my airport will not power on, what are the possible causes?

My Airport just shut off and it will not power on. I unplug it from the wall and pulg it back into the power outlet but it still won't power on. What are the possible causes. Is this system just died out, I have it for about 3 years.

Causes....a failed electical power supply component or an internal connection that has come loose.
It's a real longshot, but if you are handy with small tools, carefully saw open the case of the Express along the center seam to open up the case and look for something obvious.
Your chances of success here are very very small, but if you have the time and inclination, it won't hurt to try.

  • Orphan Essbase processes - What are the possible causes

We are running Essbase 11.1.1.1.00 on AIX and have encountered numerous orphaned processes. IE.

We have to manually kill these processes or the cause problem with the logs and performance.
What are the possible causes? Has anyone else experiences similar issues?
    Thanks

We had a similiar problem on UNIX. It was due to a process clean up script that was running as part of scheduled server maintenance. For some reason it would kill the Essbase server process and leave us with the orphaned child processes.
Once we figured that out the script was adjusted to ignore all Essbase processes.
Your example - I may be reading it wrong but it does not appear to be orphaned.

  • Is there any one knows how to use labview 6.0 to make a "continue" function like the one in C language?

I am using labview 6.0 and i like to know is there any one knows how to stop the current iteration in while loop or for loop and continue to do the next iteration, just like the "continue" statement in C or C++ language?

Simple test here in LV6 confims that you can't do this. Not in a useful
sense anyway. "Stop" doesn't stop execution simply of the current VI, it
also kills all VIs above it. It would hence be difficult to argue that this
approach is in any way similar to "continue".
What version of Labview have you tested this on and can you post a
    demonstration?

  • My trackpad is not working what is the possible cause

please help me find solution on how to operate again my trackpad because it is not working..

Is your MacBook one with an easily removeable battery? If it is, shut down the MacBook and take the battery out. Connect the MacBook to a power source with its power adapter. Restart the MacBook. Test without the battery installed.
Inspect the battery for any signs of expansion. If any are found, or if the MacBook trackpad works normally without the battery, replace the battery.
    Best of luck.

    Hi,
I can tell you the most common reasons of these failures.
    1. request everything ok
Here it will be telling you if the request was properly send to source system and got triggered there.
    2. extraction everything ok
In this step the actual extraction of data happens, issue slike sysfail or CPIC error may cause this to fail.
    3. transfer (idocs and trfc) error occured?
When extraction is complete and data is being send to BW. But if dur to some reason it fails, error may come here.
    4. processing
Processing in BW fails for each data packet is displayed here.
This can also happen when you have sysfail in source.
    5. process chain
This can show the logs of the chain here and also status of subsequent process.

    Any other error message.

  • My iSight is not working on my Macbook Pro. What are the possible problems and solutions?

My iSight is not working on my Macbook Pro. What are the possible problems and solutions?

    Hello Douglas,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with the built-in iSight camera on your MacBook Pro.  I recommend the following steps for this issue:
Important: Follow these instructions in order. Test the camera between steps to see if the issue is resolved.
    Built-in iSight cameras
These steps are for iSight cameras that are built into a computer, such as the iMac G5 (iSight) or later, the MacBook, or MacBook Pro.
See if the issue is application-specific.
Try another application (iSight works with applications like iChat, PhotoBooth, and iMovie HD 6) to see if the iSight camera exhibits the same behavior in all applications. If it only happens in one application, try reinstalling that application.
See if the issue is user-specific.
Test your iSight camera in another user account. If the issue only occurs in one user, the issue would be isolated to user settings.
Find out if the computer recognizes the iSight
Check System Profiler (in the Utilities folder, inside the Applications folder). Under the USB header, check to see if the iSight camera is detected.
    Reset SMC or PMU
Reset your computer's SMC or PMU, and then check System Profiler again. (SMC reset instructions for iMac G5 (iSight), Intel-based iMacs; PMU reset instructions for MacBook and MacBook Pro.)
If your built-in iSight camera is still not behaving correctly after trying all these steps, you may need to contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

I typed in the IPv6 address of the printer in the address feild of firefox.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • What are the main causes of slowdown (long term)?

I've had my MacBook for about 3½ years now, and it's starting to slow down. (Hardware specs are in sig.)
Yup, I know it's normal. It's happened with every computer I've owned, regardless of platform.
*_WHAT I CURRENTLY DO ABOUT IT_*
I routinely run Maintenance (http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/maintenance.html), a free app that—yep, you guessed it!—performs maintenance on your Mac. It uses a mix of maintenance scripts that are built-in to OS X (OS X runs them silently, but this allows them to be run on demand), and some of its own methods for cleaning a Mac to keep it running smoothly.
I've found that Maintenance does help—I definitely recommend it!—but the older my MacBook has become, it seems the less Maintenance can do to mitigate the slowdown that comes with age.
    *_MY CURRENT BELIEF_*
I don't think it's because the hardware is old by today's standards, because in my experience if you reformat any machine it will operate significantly faster, even after restoring all of the software that was removed by the format.
I've become increasingly suspicious about the hard drive's free space's effect on a system's performance. I've always known that it has a noticeable effect—less swap space for virtual memory—but I'm beginning to wonder if the effect of a mostly-full hard drive is much more than I have previously imagined. Just a feeling.
    *_MY QUESTIONS_*
*#1: What are the leading causes of slowdown (long term)?*
*#2: What are the solutions to each of the above problems?*
    • acknowledging that there may not be a solution to every problem, and
    • some solutions may solve a problem “more completely” than others
Edited for clarity by Tony R.

    • I was under the impression that Disk Utility's “Repair Disk” would fix all non-permissions-related errors (other than physical damage, obviously). If they can be fixed by a backup-reformat-restore, then I take it they are software (filesystem) based problems. If so, why can't software solve the problem without a reformat?
Disk utility can and does repair permissions and basic disk errors. However it does not rebuild directory data.
    • How exactly do directory structure errors happen, and what other consequences do they have (if any)?
The article on alsofts website should help
    What is directory damage?
It is worth noting that in the future when Mac OS X support the ZFS disk format directory damage will be a thing of the past.
    however as you said
Yep, I'm at 11.2% free disk space. Thanks for the info!
I think this is your main issue. Try moving your itunes and movie to an external drive then see how your mac performs.
Also a good way to reclaim some space is to delete all the language localisations you dont use. It is amazing that iWeb alone can install a few 100megs of foreign language templates that you will never use.
I used to use Mike Bombich's delocalizer to do this but that app is not longer available so I use monolingual now.
edit, as you have macbook you are lucky in that it is really straightforward to install a bigger internal hard drive.
You can now get 5000GB 2.5 inch sata hard drives. You could take out the old drive hook that up to a usb to sata cable, install a bigger hard drive. then connnect the usb cable to your mac. Then boot from your Leopard Disk then use disk utility clone your old drive onto your new drive.
