What are the "Profile" and "Level" Settings in AME?

One thing I never understood is the option for the Profile and Level when I'm exporting a clip in AME.  Not sure if those are options for most codecs but it is for the MainConcept H.264 Video Codec.  For Profile, there is an option of "Baseline", "Main", and "High".  For Level, starting from 3.1 and up, it's 3.1, 3.2, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 5.0, 5.1.  I don't know what these are and therefore don't know which to choose.  I know that the level has something to do with resolution so if I'm exporting in 720p, which level should I choose?
**While on the video encoding topic, in terms of quality, best to worst, what would the order be for the types of bitrates?  Is it VBR 2-pass, CBR, then VBR 1-Pass?
-Sorry if this is a bit off-topic for Premiere CS4.  There just wasn't any specific location for AME or Video-encoding..

Profiles outline/suggest certain encoding/decoding capabilities of a given video compression standard, like H.264. For example, the High profile enables B-frames and CABAC encoding. Levels are a means of ensuring that a hardware decoder can properly decode a stream. For example, an iPod can play back Baseline profile, Level 3.0 encoded video, but nothing higher. Higher profiles and levels enable other hardware, like Blu-Ray players. For the most part, you can ignore levels when encoding for computer playback, and only concern yourself with profile. I pretty much stick with [email protected]
The link Eddie posted has a ton of information, but here's a good article from Jan Ozer that puts it in more accessible terms.

  • What are the incoming and outgoing settings to set up freeserve email accounts on ipad2

I have an Ipad 2 and am trying to set up email from an old Freeserve account in the UK, I have set this up and can receieve emails but cant send emails.

After many, many, frustrating hours trying to set this up on my Dad's iPad, I think I have found a solution. Thought I'd share it in case anyone else was still perservering with a freeserve email address.
    It basically involved
    - setting up a pop3 account (Settings/Mail,Contacts, Calendars/Add account/Other/Add mail account) with pop.orangehome.co.uk and smtp.orangehome.co.uk as the incoming and outgoing settings
    - letting it try to 'verify' those settings (which will probably fail)
    - if asked 'Do you want to try without SSL' (or similar), click no
    - Dismiss the window which says something like 'this account may not be able to send or receive emails' and save the settings as they are.
    - Go back into the account you have just set up and there should be some more settings to fiddle with - 'SMTP' and 'Advanced'.
    - In 'Advanced', switch 'Use SSL' to off and change the Server port to 110, then go back to the previous screen
    - Click on SMTP. It will probably show the primary server as smtp.orangehome.co.uk. After fiddling around with the settings for ages I decided to see what would happen if I used a different smtp server. I had previously set up a gmail account, so I tried smtp.gmail.com. For the record, this already had my email address as the user name, my gmail password, SSL on, Authenticaion as password and port as 587. Low and behold - it worked. I'm no expert but I assume this just means it is using the gmail 'route' to send an email rather than the freeserve/orange/EE route.
If you haven't got a gmail account to use, it might be worth setting one up just for this purpose.

  • What are the Server and Domain settings to sync ou...

I've managed to get Outlook 2010 set up as an exchange server - couldn't carry on trying to use it with hotmail connector - it just didn't work.
So, now on my Lumia 610 I have an Outlook account and I sign into it with my gmail email address and password. But it says it can't find the server settings. So, I'm having a stab at entering them manually. This is what I'm using:
    Server: imap.gmail.com
    Domain: smtp.gmail.com
So my question is, are these the correct settings to use???? If not, what should they be?
I can sense it, I'm close to actually getting my calendar to sync, but I just need to get past this one (hopefully the last!) hurdle.  It's showing error code 80072EFD on my phone by the way.
    Can anyone help?????

I am sorry to read you are having these difficulties. In all honesty I have personally done many of these and have not had it fail once. That is not to say I doubt you are sure you are doing everything correct but there must be something you are not seeing or doing right.
First on Windows Live Mail. I did not write it will sync your outlook calendar, I wrote it will Sync your calendar and contacts with your LiveID and thus with your Lumia Windows Phone. When you log in to Windows Live Mail with your Live ID your contacts and current calendar entries which are also on your phone will be synced to this application. Change something on the phone and the change will be synced to the application and the other way around.
The same  goes for calendars en contacts in Outlook though the Hotmail connector. Assuming this installed correctly you will see a contact list for your liveID in Outlook as well as any calendars you have in your liveID account (and your phone). If you select the calendar from your calendar list belonging to your liveID you will see the entries which you have made on your phone. Any change here will (again) go both ways. On a final note, this will not work with the so-called click to run version of Outlook as this version does not offer this functionality. You will need the full install version of Outlook.
You do do not copy the calendar entries from one calendar to one in the LiveID calendar list, that is not possible and will not work. What you do is copy the complete calendar to the folder for yoru LiveID Outlook account once it  is available as a copy in the liveID list of calendars you use that copy and discard (or disregard) the original.
    Open Outlook on your computer.
Click File, then click Add Account.
Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.
Select Other, choose Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector and click Next. Enter your name, and your Windows Live email address and password. Click OK to complete the setup.
Click Calendar. You should notice new Calendars have appeared for your email account.
Right-click your main Outlook calendar and then click Copy Calendar.
In the Copy Folder window, scroll to find your Windows Live email account.
Click on the email account to select and then click OK.
Click on the Windows Live account name to select it and then click OK.
Your Outlook calendar is now copied into Windows Live, but you should continue to use this copied calendar in Outlook. All changes or additions will then be synced to Windows Live and your Windows Phone.
Unfortunately it is not possible for us to offer you direct support with this, but please contact Nokia Care (in this case) by phone or chat if you need further assistance. You can reach them through this link

What are the best imovie, mpeg4 settings for making dvds?

    • iMovie'08 to 11
    - Share to Media Browser - AND as Large (or Medium) - HD or other resolutions degrades the final result
iMovie'08 to 11 are not the tools of choise if quality is important as they all degrade the picture by discarding every second line when going from, Event's to Project's and this can not be mended.
iMovie HD6 and FinalCut delivers 100% of what any DVD-Authoring program needs.
    • DVD is as standard MAX - intrelaced SD-Video - and can not be any better than this
    • iDVD does only care about TIME / Duration as
iDVD 08, 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities. (version 7.0.1, 7,0.4 & 7.1.1) and iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST (but not always for short movies e.g. up to 45 minutes in total)
    • Best Performances
(movies + menus less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD (Can be best for short movies)
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6)
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
Menu can take 15 minutes or even more - I use a very simple one with no audio or animation like ”Brushed Metal” in old Themes.
    About double on DL DVDs.
    • iDVD Does Region = Zero (to be played everywhere)
    • Frame rate - DVD can be in two types PAL (25fps) and NTSC (29.97fps)
If Your material is 30fps then keep to NTSC (29.97fps), if 25fps keep to PAL.
One can feed iDVD the other frame rate - BUT RESULTING DVD WILL BE BAD
I use JES_Deinterlacer (free on Internet) to convert all material to the same and final frame rate
    • NTSC - US etc
    • PAL - EU etc

  • What are the pros and cons of installing java+abap stack for portal?

    Hi all,
1.What are the pros and cons of installing java+abap stack for portal?
2.what effect it does on the ume options to be choosen??
3.for the purpose of integration of r3,bw and crm on portal and crm 4.0 60.2.3 business package which option of stack(java or abap or both)will be good option and which ume option while installation should be choosen?
    regards
    Rajendra

    Hi Rajendra,
The NetWeaver Installation Master Guide offers some good scenarios on the pros and cons:
    https://websmp201.sapag.de/~sapidb/011000358700005412792005E.pdf
    In a nutshell:
    ABAP+JAVA
    Pros
    - Decrease # of servers required to administer the portal
    - Less costly
    Cons
    - Upgrades could be dependent on ABAP and Java release level
    - Additional load on the server due to ABAP stack
    - Limited scalability
JAVA and ABAP on separate server
    Pros
    - Improved performance
    - Allows each system to be single-use purpose therefore downtime does not affect other components
    - More scalable
    Cons
    - Adds complexity to landscape
    - Additional costs
    Regards,
    Thomas Pham

There are no 'main' points; it all depends on the business requirements.

All is in the title, so I repeat it below with a better identation.
What are the pros and cons of
    1) choosing to use the SAME
Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and
purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or
    2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides"?
    P.S.
I have loads and loads of free podcasts in iTunes in my iMac, that are certainly more thant the 5 gigas the iCloud provides for free, so I don't want those to go to the cloud. But this is perhaps a different question...
Also need to mention that I have itunes on a mac, a pc and an iphone.
Sorry to look so silly with this question, but I don't get the "big picture".

You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

  • What are the advanteges and disadvanteges of using pl/sql over hibernate

i knwo that pl/sql are well structure and provide a lot of functionalities with oracle databse , but my question is the hibernate might give some advnateges of scalability over pl/sql.
so what are the advanteges and disadvanteges of using pl/sql over hibernate?
and does oracle recommend using hibernate for connecting JSP with oracle 11i , or it is better to connect the JSP pages with oracle databse using pl/sql ?

    812643 wrote:
but if i search for the diferencess then there are a lot of opinions about this ..., specially when they say that with hibernate you can integrate with any DB , and it provides object printed architecture, etc.All databases are not equal. This is a basic and fundamental fact. SQL-Server is not Oracle. Oracle is not SQL-Server. As it is the case with Sybase, Ingres, DB2 and other database products. They are all different. And there are some very core differences between them.
So how would a product like Hibernate treat these database products with their differences? By using the lowest common denominator. Which means your expensive database product is dumbed down - and even MS Access will likely have better and more features.
You also need to decide what is the "permanent" part in your architecture. What is going to the core? What is the expensive part? The app server (with Hibernate)? Or the database server?
What are you likely to change next year? The app server server? Or the database server?
In the vast majority of cases, the core is the database server. That is your biggest expense and investment. As it should be - as it holds that which is most precious to business, data. You want to ensure the integrity of that data. The accuracy of that data. Make sure that it can be easily backed up and recovered. Is flexible to use. Etc. Etc.
The database server is the core - and that is where you need to realise your return on investment. By using the database server to its full extent.
Hibernate does not do that. And in that respect, it is junk.
Why does it not do that? Because many Java developers are totally and fully clueless about what database servers are and how to use them. And want to use them as little plug-in black boxes - bit buckets that are only there to provide a data persistence layer. Instead of using the database server to its full extent, they instead use Hibernate, and try to do their own "+database thing+" in the app layer - and do it poorly and with utter lack of any scalability. (and no, only ignorant Java heads think that scalability means throwing more money and h/w at it)
My largest database processes billions of rows per day, every day, 356 days a year (between 350 to 450 million new inserts into a single table per day). And have been for several years now. It does so using PL/SQL. Using Oracle to its full extent. Then there are Java heads that cannot even design and code an app that effectively process 1% of this volume... and grasp at straws like Hibernate and other Java cr@p to "fix" this - when the actual problem is their total lack of ignorance in how to use and scale the database server.
Hibernate is trash - and a symptom of Java developers's ignorance of database technology.
