What are the  Specifications of Extreme  Model A1354

What are the  Specifications of Extreme  Model A1354

If you might be thinking about purchasing a used device, you should be aware that the A1354 is going to be anywhere from 4 years to 5+ depending on when it was originally sold.
The useful life of an AirPort router is, on average,  about 5 years....so you might want to give that some thought, if you are considering a purchase.

  • Apple TV: what are the specific settings I should adjust to?

    Hi, there
I really need your help now. I use a DVD ripper to rip DVD to MP4 for Apple TV. I am trying to achieve quality that is close to a movie (m4v) from iTunes. What are the best settings to get this type of quality? I am not concerned with output file size, and I just want to get the very best quality I can. If so, what are the specific settings I should adjust to? The program I am using allows me to adjust video and audio parameters as below:
    Video parameters:
    Codec: h.264
    Resolution: 1280*720
Bit rate: ??? (it is said Up to 5 Mbps, but what is the specific bit rate?)
    Frame rate: 24 fps
    Audio parameters:
    Codec: aac
    Sample rate: ???
Bit rate: ??? it is said 16 to 320 Kbps, but what’s the specific figure?
Audio channel: mono, stereo and 5.1 channel, which one should I choose?
Following are the tech specifications I copied from Apple’s official website:
    Video formats supported
H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): Up to 5 Mbps, Progressive Main Profile (CAVLC) with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
iTunes Store purchased video: 320 by 240 pixels, 640 by 480 pixels, 720 by 480 pixels (anamorphic), or high-definition 720p
MPEG-4: Up to 3 Mbps, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 720 by 432 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
    Audio formats supported
AAC (16 to 320 Kbps); protected AAC (from iTunes Store); MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps); MP3 VBR; Apple Lossless; AIFF; WAV; Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound pass-through
And I have selected some parameters according to this, please see the above contents, but there is no info about specific video/audio bit rate, audio sample rate, and audio channel. I just wanna know if I want to watch the movie on my 1920×1080 TV, what are the specific settings I should adjust to?
Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well, then how about playback Apple TV uncompatible video files? I have some other video files(such as avi, mkv,not DVD), and I also have a video converter, i know i can convert them to m4v, mp4, or mov that supported by ATV,but the thing is that i still don't know the best specific settings for conversion. Any suggestion? Many thanks for your kind reply.

  • Considering upgrading to solid state drive for Macbook Pro 2010. What are the specific requirements?

I am starting to experience some problems (very minor issues w speed) w my 2010 MBP. I decided to try and reformat w the install disk but it stalled on the grey screen and when I took it to the Genius Bar and they said they could do the re-install but that they think there could be a problem with the hard drive and it may crash completely after a re-install. They suggested an SSD. I found one on the iFix it site (SanDisk's top of the line X210 256 GB SSD) and am wondering what are the features I need to look for in an SSD if I go this route? Are there other parts in the MBP that will probably break in the next couple of years anyway? Will I see a big improvement in speed?

yes, you should definately swap the drive out, but be sure that the ssd you wish to purchase will be compatable with your mac.
yes, the mac will seem a lot faster. also give a thought to adding more ram, i believe your model is capable of quite happily handling 8g. 2 x 4g sticks.
no one can be sure of the future, so, if your mac is running well apart from the above then dont be concerned untill a problem occurs.

  • What are the specifications for Internal Hardisk 500GB Macbook Pro (Mid-2012)?

I need to purchase a new internal hard disk for my Macbook, I'm gonna go for 500GB space.
Now. I need to know the specifications. I don't want suggestions, because I live in India and I may not be able to purchase the harddisk which you tell me to.

Will any of the above two harddisk work with my 13 inch Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) model?

Drive #2 would be your best bet - except for the fact that it's a 3.5 inch drive and you need a 2.5" x 9.5mm drive.
Look on your site for HGST 7k1000 drives - 1TB and it will 'fit' your machine exceptionally well.

What must the specifications of the wired modem to fully use the capabilities of the AirPort extreme?

Sorry, but other than providing an Ethernet connection, Apple has not provided any formal documentation on modem specifications that "work" with their AirPort routers. Most Ethernet modems DO work, but not all are supported. Note: Apple states this in the "small print" for any of its routers in the online Apple Store.

  • What are the best settings to use for the newest AirPort Extreme (AC wifi) with my optimum online service provider?

I have the current generation of the AirPort Extreme and a handful of devices that utilize the new 5Ghz A/C frequency. My internet speeds were blazing fast when I had first set it up but lately it has been lagging terribly. I was told that changing my dhcp did help, which it did it seems like it might be back to its normal speeds but I just want to know what are the best settings to configure for the airport so that I can get the most out of my service on all my devices? I'm using a CAT 6 cable which does help, I have a guest wifi setup with a wifi password which I understand will slow it down a little. Can anyone just point me in the right direction or just give me a step by step guide on what settings to configure? Should I really consider turning off the guest network?

I am assuming that you are looking to configure your network to provide the highest level of bandwidth possible for your network clients. If that is the case, the following are a few things to consider:
The Internet modem should support Gigabit Ethernet. That is the Ethernet connection between the modem and your 802.11ac AirPort Extreme should be Gigabit Ethernet.
Use CAT-5e or CAT-6 Ethernet cables between all wired connections.
Only expect 802.11ac performance with 802.11ac clients in the same room as the base station.
Eliminate or significantly reduce any forms of Wi-Fi interference on both the 2.4 & 5 GHz bands.
When streaming, especially HD video on your local network, use wired connections between the host and player devices when possible.
Other than the above suggestions there are no "magic" settings that you can make on your AirPort. Note: The Guest network shares the same bandwidth as the "main" network. Unless you have a network goal to provide this type of network, it is best left disabled.

  • What are the steps  needs to be perform to define a data model

What are the steps  needs to be perform to define a data model
    a.     Information Gathering
    b.     Hardware & Software
    c.     Structure the Information – MDM
    d.     Transfer into a Physical Model – BW data model
    e.     Explore use of existing model – Business Content

    Hi Siva,
Very first activity is Proof of concept (POC), here we have to show How BW works for clients Reporting requirement during POC we as BW consultants need to creat some sample BW back end objects and also some reports based on business requirement. This is very crucial stage as Client Judge wethere BW would meet his demands. If every thing is fine then next step is Bidding.
After Bidding the contract then actual Project intiates. from here we follow ASAP methodology.
    <u><b>
    Project Preparation</b></u>
Here Senior Consultant would go to Client place for Business Process Transistion and to know in what way the Architectue should be set up so here Basis People will come into picture.
    <u><b>Blue Print</b></u>
Transistion could be understood by BRD (Business Requirement Documents) BRD states what is exact requirement and it is given by End users.
By seeeing thr BRD's we as BW consultants must prepare APPlication Design Documents . The Application Design Documents states all the Technical aspects that needs to be performed as BW backend and also as well as Frontend.
    <u><b>Realization Phase</b></u>
Here as BW consultants we must start confuguring as mentioned in ADD's by taking care of all performance aspects, once all the configuration are done we do Unit testing. unit testing is an activity where we check all the design process wether it running correct or not. After unit testing we move the design objects to Qulaity for Integration Testing.
    <u><b>Testing</b></u>
Here end user will check all the objects, reports on end to end basis. after integration testing is done then UAT ( User acceptance Testing) would come into picture where user check each process and sign off.
    <u><b>Go live</b></u>
Here all the object will be moved to Production where end users and power users can start working on the system. intially for some days Development team would be taking care of all support activites there after  it will be transitoned to support team.
    Hope It helps you.
    Assign Points if it usefull
    Regards

I just purchased an extreme.  I have an express.  The sales guy recommended setting up a hot spot with the express and use the extreme as a base station.  What does he mean and how do I do this?  What are the advantages?  How do I set this up?????

I think he means to set up the main extreme as the main router or "main base station", and then use the express to "extend" the network.
You can look up the manual for your express here for more details:
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/
Extend the range of your network by adding AirPort Express to your existing AirPortExtreme or AirPort Express wireless network (this is called a Wireless DistributionSystem, or WDS). "
Extending the Range of an Existing AirPort Extreme or
    AirPort Express Network
You can extend the range of an existing AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express wirelessnetwork by setting it up in a WDS. Wireless computers can connect to the network andshare the Internet connection, share files, and play network games. If you connect yourAirPort Express to your home stereo, computers on your wireless network can useAirTunes to play music on the stereo from iTunes. If you connect a USB printer to yourAirPort Express, all of the computers on the network can print to it.
n Open the AirPort Setup Assistant on a Macintosh, or the AirPort Express Assistant on acomputer using Windows XP. Follow the onscreen instructions to extend the range ofyour AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express network.
Note: Extending the range of a network using WDS may reduce overall networkperformance.

  • What are the differences between iPod 2nd and 3rd Generation models?

    Hi:
I have a couple questions about the differences between some of the iPod Touch models:
    1) What is the difference between the *2nd Gen 8GB iPod touch* and the *3rd Gen 8GB iPod touch?*
    2) What are the differences among the *3rd Gen iPod Touch 8GB* model and the *32 GB and 64 GB models* (other than the memory differences)?

    none, really.

the 32 & 64 GB models have advanced hardware components. 32GB and 64GB Touches gain 3GS specs - roughly 2x faster, with more advanced 3D graphics for games that capitalize on OpenGL 2.0 - and features like Voice Control.

  • What are the key benefits and limitations of new pricing model of X5-2?

What are the key benefits and limitations of new pricing model that started with X5 version?

    1. Elastic Configurations
Size/price hardware by the number of servers; Fixed configs no longer required
Start with 2 Database Servers and 3 Storage Servers. Incrementally add database or storage servers online.
    2. Capacity-on-Demand (CoD)
Upon installation, activate 40-100% of the cores per server and reduce software licenses; Applies to Eighth Rack now too
Activate and license more cores when needed; Active cores may not be deactivated
    3. OVM and Trusted Partitions
License software on Virtual CPUs within a VM; Ideal for special-purpose DB options
You can mix different combination of options for different DB on one Exadata.
OVM has no License cost; support is included with premier hardware support
    Limitation:
At least 40% of usable cores on the machine must be licensed for Oracle software
Cannot use both OVM and CoD to license less than 40% of cores
A server must be virtualized or non-virtualized – not mixed
A RAC cluster can mix virtualized and non-virtualized servers
    4. “Flash Drive” License Metric for EF Storage Server Software
    $20K/drive; 8 flash drives/EF server vs 12 disk drives/HC server = 33% higher list
Can transfer licenses between Flash Drive (2 licenses/drive) and Disk Drive (1 license/drive) – part # is the same

We currently have an apple macbook connecting to the internet via a linksys router. We are considering an airport extreme wireless router, we are considering the cost. What are the advantages of purchasing an Airport Extreme router.... ??? Currently my wireless access appears to be more than adequate.

Besides Bob Timmons' comments, an AirPort Extreme supports these things, which your Linksys router may or may not support:
    - A USB-connected networked disk drive
    - A USB-connected printer that can be shared by all computers on your network
    - MobileMe access to your local resources from outside your local network
    - Configuration via a dedicated program, rather than via a browser interface
If none of these interests you or if any that interest you are already offered by your current router, and if you're happy with your Linksys router, then I'd keep the Linksys router.
