Hey,

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can get a clue to what it is, and potentially use it, by going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and clicking 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have, or don't want to use, your rescue email address (you won't be able to add/change it until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get them reset (which will be by phone as they need to verify your id - we are fellow users here on these forums).
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add/change rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312 . Or you could change to 2-step verification : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5570

What are the .fm.sp files that are created when using SharePoint? When I'm working with SharePoint, I've noticed that duplicate files ending in .fm.sp are created. I've been unable to find any reference or documentation about them so far.

Whe you use sharepoint as a CMS connections in Framemaker it creates the folder where Sp is installed and also a file ending .sp is created that let SP know that its the file associated with it.
.fm.sp indicates that its the framemaker type SP file.
Dont worry about it as its not creating any mess in the system.

my ipad mini has been stolen and i have activated the find my iphone to lock. now it is only a wifi device so what are the chances that a person can get hold of it and log onto wifi without the password of my device to unlock. does that not make the app rather less useful as i have to hope that the person is apt enough to log onto the internet but not enough to erase it and start afresh. is it possible to find my device even afte someone has erased it?

"Losing your iPhone feels lousy. Thankfully, iCloud can help you get it back. But if it looks like that’s not going to happen, new Find My iPhone features in iOS 7 make it harder for anyone who’s not you to use or sell your device. Now turning off Find My iPhone or erasing your device requires your Apple ID and password. Find My iPhone can also continue to display a custom message, even after your device is erased. And your Apple ID and password are required before anyone can reactivate it."

In general, what are the differences between countries' iTunes offerings? Does one really need an address and a credit card for any country to be able to access that countries iTunes store? Why these restrictions?

    You cannot.
You cannot use another countrys itunes store.
You must be physically locates inside the borders of a country to use that countrys itunes store and a credit card issued in that country with a valid billing address in that country.
The owners of the distribution rights of movies/music/etc differ by country.  These distributors decide who can sell their content in that country.
Buy from another source if your countrys itunes store does not carry somehting that you want.

  • What are the objects that support variables?

What are the objects that support variables?

Using Variables: The Variable Wizard and the Variable Editor
    Definition
Variables are parameters of a query that you defined in the Query Designer and that are filled with values when you execute the query or Web application. They serve as a store for characteristic values, hierarchies, hierarchy nodes, texts and formula elements, and can be processed in different ways.
The processing type determines how a variable is filled with a value for the runtime of the query or Web application.
There are different types of variables depending on the object for which you want to define variables. These types specify where you can use the variables.
Variables are reusable objects. This means that when you define a variable for a query in the Query Designer, this variable can be used in all other queries. Variables are not dependent on the InfoProvider, only on the InfoObject. A variable that you define for an InfoObject is available in all InfoProviders that use this InfoObject.
    Use
Variables enable you to customize queries flexibly (parameterize the query) possible. If you use variables in the Query Designer, do not select any fixed characteristic values, hierarchies, hierarchy nodes, texts, or formula elements. Instead, set up variables as place holders. These are then filled with values when the query is running (when you insert the query into a workbook, when you refresh the workbook or when you execute the query on the Web. You can use one query definition as the foundation for many different queries if you use variables.
You want to create one query for all the people responsible for customer groups, who each only evaluate the data for one customer group. In the Query Designer, you insert a variable for the characteristic u2018customer groupu2019. Just before the query is executed, decide for which customer group(s) you want the query to apply to.
There are two tools in the Query Designer for designing and changing variables.
The variable wizard takes you step-by-step through the process of defining a variable. Each individual step is context-sensitive and is adjusted according to the combination of variable and processing types used. This means that the variable wizard only offers the selection options that are permitted for that combination of variable and processing types. For more information, see Defining Variables with the Variable Wizard.
The variable editor dialog box offers all of the selection options for changing an existing variable. The individual fields in the dialog box show the settings affected in the variable. You can change these settings here. If you want to make the changes using a step-by-step process with explanatory texts, you can jump to the variable wizard using . For more information, see Changing Variables in the Variable Editor.
    Integration
The variable wizard and the variable editor are functions in the Query Designer and are context-sensitive.
In principle, the two dialog boxes appear wherever you can enter constants (that is, values) in input fields. One of these input fields is the Entry of Variables checkbox.  If you select this option, the following options for using a variable appear, instead of a fixed value:
    ·        The variables that are available appear in the dropdown box for the input field. You can select a variable from the dropdown box.
    ·        The symbol  Change Variable appears next to the Entry of Variables checkbox. You can change the variable using  . The Variable Editor dialog box appears.
    ·        The symbol  New Variable appears next to the Entry of Variables checkbox. Choose  if you want to create a new variable. The Variable Wizard dialog box appears.
By way of an example, when defining conditions for the value limit of the condition, you can not only enter fixed values but also formula variables. Mark the Entry of Variables checkbox and you can then use the options described above. The settings are context-sensitive so that the formula variables that only those formula variables that are available appear in the dropdown box.  The variable wizard is set up automatically in the same way for entering formula variables.
You can also get to the variable wizard and the variable editor from the context menu of those objects for whose values you can define variable placeholders. From the context menu, choose New Variable. The SAP BW Variables Wizard appears. In the context menu for variables that have already been defined, you can choose Edit. The SAP BW Variables Editor appears.
In the InfoProvider objects dialog box, you select a characteristic (for example, Order) and from the context menu, choose New Variable. You reach the variable wizard, which is already set up for you to enter a characteristic value variable.
In the InfoProvider objects dialog box, you select a characteristic value variable and from the context menu, choose Edit. You reach the variable editor where you see all of the settings for the variable. You can make changes to the variables here.
    Variable Types
    Definition
The type of variable being used. This determines the object that the variable represents as a placeholder for a concrete value.
    Structure
There are different types of variables depending on the object for which you want to define variables. These types specify where you can use the variables.
    ·        Characteristic Value Variables
Characteristic value variables represent characteristic values and can be used wherever characteristic values are used.
If you restrict characteristics to specific characteristic values, you can also use characteristic value variables. See, Restricting Characteristics.
    ·        Hierarchy Variables
Hierarchy variables represent hierarchies and can be used wherever hierarchies can be selected.
If you restrict characteristics to specific hierarchies or select presentation hierarchies, you can also use hierarchy variables. See Selecting Hierarchies
    ·        Hierarchy Node Variables
Hierarchy node variables represent a node in a hierarchy and can be used wherever hierarchy nodes are used.
If you restrict characteristics to specific hierarchy nodes, you can also use hierarchy node variables. See Restricting Characteristics: Hierarchies
    ·        Text Variables
Text variables represent a text and can be used in descriptions of queries, calculated key figures and structural components.
You can use text variables in the description of calculated key figures, restricted key figures, selections and formulas when you create them. See Defining Calculated Key Figures, Defining Restricted Key Figures, Defining Selections, and Defining Formulas.
You can change the descriptions in the properties dialog box. See Query Properties Calculated Key Figure Properties Restricted Key Figure Properties, and Selection/Formula Properties.
    ·        Formula Variables
Formula variables represent numerical values and can be used in formulas. See Defining Formulas.
In addition, numerical values are used for selecting exceptions and conditions and you can also use formula variables here. See Defining Exceptions and Defining Conditions
You can use a formula variable for the interest rate in order to process the current interest rate, after you have executed the query or Web application.

  • What are the ideal specs for a DigiBeta master tape when authoring a "widescreen anamorphic" 16:9 SD DVD (original aspect ratio is 14:9)?

I just received the masters for a new SD DVD. I would like to author a "widescreen anamorphic" SD DVD horizontally squeezed widescreen image stored in a standard 4:3 aspect ratio DVD image frame. (On 4:3 displays, mattes should preserve the original aspect ratio. On 16:9 displays the image will fill the screen at the highest possible resolution.)
Below I've listed the specs of the Digi Beta master tapes the producers have sent to me for digitizing. I'd like to know this: What are the ideal specs for a DigiBeta master tape when authoring a widescreen anamorphic SD DVD, using material with an original aspect ratio of 14:9?
I've also listed my guesses below. Please let me know if my guesses are right. If not, please suggest alternatives (and if possible explain why.)
    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS OF EXISTING MASTER:
    Tape: DigiBeta
    Original Aspect Ratio: 1.55 (14:9)
    Vid Rate: 29.97 fps
Pixel Aspect: NTSC - CCIR 601
    Frame Size: 720 x 480
Anamorphic: Full-Height Anamorphic (16:9 image displayed in letterboxed, non-distored 4:3)
    Display Format: 4:3 Letterbox
MY GUESS AT IDEAL TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS (for a DigiBeta, that is):
    Tape: DigiBeta
    Original Aspect Ratio: 1.55 (14:9)
    Vid Rate: 29.97 fps
    Pixel Aspect: Square
    Frame Size: 720 x 540
    Anamorphic: YES
Display Format: 16:9 Anamorphic (horizontally squeezed widescreen image)
Please feel free to ask for clarification or further information you need to answer my question.
Thank you so much in advance for your help!
    Best, Noetical.
BTW, I can't wait for the day when everything has gone digital and we get digital intermediates instead of tapes to digitize!

Hi Nick...thanks for taking the time to reply to my question.
    Nick Holmes wrote:
What you have there is a mess.
    NTSC pixels are never square.
NTSC is 720x486, even when it is Anamorphic.
You shouldn't be using an already letterboxed master to make an Anamorphic version. Get the master that was made before the letterboxing stage.
When you make an Anamorphic DVD it should display as 16:9 full screen automatically on widescreen TVs.
The same DVD will automatically letterbox on 4:3 TVs.
Um yeah...duh. That's exactly what I was trying to explain in the preface of my question. I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear...all these things you mention are the reasons I'm putting together a list of the technical specs of the DigiBeta I need so I can have them send that instead of the stupid letterboxed version.
Look, I'm sending this request to some intern at their offices in England, asking for a master with which I can make an Anamorphic DVD. They already sent me this master, which as you and I both agree is an idiotic asset to use for these purposes. As such, I was hoping for advice on a more precise way of requesting the master that I need than asking for "the master that was made before the letterboxing stage." Upon reflection, perhaps I'll just do that. If you or anyone else has a suggestion about something I should add to my request that would improve the odds of them sending the tape I need, please repond. Thank you!
BTW, It's been a long time since anyone has responded to something I've written or said as though I'm an idiot. I remember now that I don't really like it. (Moving along...)

What are the implications of using jquery version 1.10.2 rather than the version (1.7.1) that Adobe uses? Thanks
    Bob

I am having trouble when my Edge Animate composition (banner ad) appears on a web page that uses jquery version 1.8.23. Some of the functionality of the host page no longer works. This occurs only when my composition is present & the functionality returns when another ad is displayed (either a Flash ad or a gif). It happens in Chrome Version 31.0.1650.63 m, Chrome Version 33.0.1738.0 canary & IE 11.
I had edited my Edge Animate files to use the Adobe CDN option & to point to another server (mine) so only the html file was needed to be placed in the ad rotator & on the host's server. I now have edited them again to include the Google CDN locations for version jquery 1.10.2 (http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js). I am waiting for the host site to try this updated html file. When I visit just this new page & the old one that pointed to 1.7.1 for that matter, it works fine.
Thank you for taking the time to read and answer my message.

  • What are the major risks buying used lenses ?

i just bought my first dslr,  and i was wondering what are the major risks buying used lenses ?

You need to be able to inspect and test the lens.
Look for obvious signs of physical damage, drops, etc. (cracks, dents, etc.)  A lens normally will get some signs of wear but as it's a used lens, you expect *some* wear... you're really looking for signs of damage.
Remove both front and rear caps.  Look through the lens into a bright no-contrast background (a white wall, a blue sky, etc.) and check the optics.  You're looking for signs of mold growth or damage to coatings.  Minor dust on internal optics wont impact the lens performance... so while you wouldn't want major amounts of dirt... don't worry too much about minor bits of dust (I've actually helped prove this to someone by clipping a 3M PostIt note down to a tiny 1/4" x 1/4" size and sticking it on the front glass.  Take a photo... nothing shows in the photo (even a piece of "dirt" that big wont show because the camera cannot focus on anything that close to the lens.)
Rotate the focus ring from end to end.  You should feel a smooth and consistent amount of friction as you rotate the focus ring.  There should be no rough spots.  Listen to the lens as you do this... there should be no grinding noises.
Do the same with the zoom ring but in addition to checking for smooth consistent performance (no sticky or rough spots) you're also checking to make sure nothing seems excessively worn (nothing wobbles loose... very heavily used lenses can do that after enough wear.)
Connect the lens to the camera and make sure the camera can completely operate the auto-focus motors without a problem and/or if it's an image stabilized lens that the IS components are working.
Set the camera to max aperture (e.g. f/22, f/32.. depending on the lens) and press your camera's "depth of field preview" button (if you don't know which button is your DOF preview, check your manual.  Canon tends to move that one around a bit but it's almost always on the front side of the camera near the lens mount.)  You want to press and release it a few times.  This will cause the lens aperture blades to stop down to the aperture you set.  Release... do this while watching the lens.  You should see the aperture blades move in and out (well... they snap in and out very quickly).  You want to make sure it works ok, the camera gets no error codes, and there's no signs that anything is sticking.
And then there is the focus test...
Focus the camera preferably at a FLAT surface that has lots of detail.... such as the brick wall of a building.  Make sure the camera is level and that the camera's focal plane is parallel to the plane of the wall.  Take a test photo at low f-stop and inspect.  You're checking to verify that the focus works and that the focus is reasonable across the image.   As you inspect from left ot right and top to bottom you are looking to make sure the focus is more or less equal (if the right side of the image is focused... but the left side of the image is soft... it would indicate that lens elements are skewed (lens isn't collimated).  It's difficult for a lens to get into this situation unless it was dropped and you'd probably see signs of damage.

What are the benefits of buying from Apple as opposed to other retail stores?

You can buy from an Apple store, which has a 14 day return policy.
You can buy on-line from Apple and get a new or refurb model (less $), and get engraving if you want it.
Some retail stores have a more generous return (30 days?) policy.
You can buy from an on-line Apple Authorized Reseller. I bought (with free shipping) mine from MacMall because I didn't have to pay sales tax. I paid with my American Express CC to get, for free, an additional 1 year warranty.
Regardless of where you buy you still get the 30 day Apple Care and 1 year warranty. You can extend, for $, the Apple Care for 2 years. Or you can buy, for $, Apple Care +, which provides accidential damage repair insurance. There's also some 3rd party sources to buy the accidential insurance.
Some retail stores and on-line stores offer a small discount or add a bonus item.
It's your choice. Find the best deal.

  • What are the ports required for the Audio, Video and A/V conferencing when the following end points are enabled for QoS in Lync 2013 server?

    Hi All,
What are the ports required for the Audio, Video and A/V conferencing when the following clients are enabled for QoS in Lync 2013 server?
    Client Type
Port range  and Protocol required for Audio
Port range and Protocol required for
    Video
Port range and Protocol required for
    A/Vconferencing
    Windows Desktop   Client
    Windows mobile App
    Iphone
    Ipad
    Andriod phone
    Andriod Tablet
    MAC desktop client
    Please advise. Many Thanks.

Out of the box, 1024-65535 for all of the client ports.  :)
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398833.aspx
You'll want to tune your client ports a bit
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204760.aspx as seen here, and then the client ports would use those ranges which is easier to set QoS markings.  I'm not sure the mobile clients respect that setting.
Elan's got the best writeup for Windows clients here:
    http://www.shudnow.net/2013/02/16/enabling-qos-for-lync-server-2013-and-various-clients-part-1/
However, the marking of the packets is the tricky part.  Windows can do it via Group Policy, but for the other clients you'll need to have the network specifically prioritize ports regardless of DSCP markings.  You have to do it based on ports
as the traffic could be peer to peer.
