"What are the universe's signs ? " error .....

Well, i got a new comupter and wanted to restore/reset my ipod since it was on another computer. I followed the directions and now I have this error that pops up on the computer... "What are the universe's signs?", cant complete. It's now stuck on the apple logo and cant turn it off Anybody know if I can fix it or do i need to go to apple. I have the 160gb. TIA

Still not fixed. Dont know if the software inside the ipod is damaged or not. When I go to restore, I dont know if my computer is gathering the software from my ipod or from the apple website. It fisrt asks me if i want to restore and I say yes. Then it says its currupt and says you need to restore, i say yes. then it extracts software from somewhere and then at a slow slow crawl the restore bar appears. It takes about an hour or so. Then it comes up with the error..."What are the universe's signs ?" on my computer. Like i said b4, this ipod was on another computer that crashed and i bought a new one. I followed apples instructions on doing it and now my ipod is crashed.

    Hi,
Does anybody know what are the "Shared Cursor (KKS) errors" supposed to raise Oracle errors ORA-44201 till 44300?
I am currently facing an 'ORA-44201: cursor needs to be reparsed' using Oracle DB EE 10.2.0.3!

    Hi Rob,
For sure, the error message generated by our 10.2.0.3 db is ORA-44201: cursor needs to be reparsed.
I have posted a thread in Database - General:

What is the life expectancy of the older base stations (flying saucer/spaceship looking one) and what are the telltale connection signs that it's starting to go?
Apple has never published any life expectancy specifications for any of their routers (or desktops/laptops) that I am aware of. As a rule of thumb, I would consider two years for any consumer electronics that operates 24 x 7 to be a reasonable period. Obviously some experience more or less and it would depend on a number of factors: ambient temperature, electrical circuit stability, area prone to lightening strikes, etc.
Some telltale signs that an AirPort has (or is about to fail):
Status lights are not illuminated or do not match any of the known configurations.
Unit feels cool to the touch after power is applied even after a lengthly (15-30 minutes) period of time.
Unit refuses to intialize, even after performing multiple "factory default" resets.
    Weak or no wireless signal.
    Ethernet port(s) not functioning
    Etc.
Also, are there any compatiility issues with newer models and G5/G4s?
    Three potential issues:
Depending on the version of OS X you are running on these clients, they may not be able to support the latest AirPort Utility required to administer the latest AirPorts. OS X 10.5.7 is the minimum required.
Support for 802.11n connectivity. Most G5 or G4 Apples support 802.11g, some only 802.11b.
Support for WPA2. Not supported if the G5 or G4 is equipped with the Original AirPort Card.

  • What are the steps to sign an applet

I've been searching and reading for weeks now and just recently I though I had it... I put my Uploader tool online, and the "grant yes/no" came up!! I was excited, and then the applet showed up. This was the farthest i'd gotten thus far, and then... it didn't pop up the JFileChoser. It failed yet again.
I've searched all over the internet for a way to sign your own applet for free. It doesn't need to be trusted, so long as the applet works by just granting permision.
If you know the steps to signing an applet, then please post them here. Make them easy to follow, with little on the details of how it works.
And don't stop at just signing the applet.. keep going until the signed applet is uploaded onto a test server. That, I think, is where a lot of people get confused.
Nobody has yet done this that i've seen (writen a tutorial) and i've been searching fo weeks!
Greatly appreciated by myself, and thousands to come.

I have a signed jar file and a html file on my desktop. I'm loading this jar file localy for testing, and the "grant permision [y/n]" pops up.
The button also pops up. however the JFileChooser does not.
The jar has been self-signed, and verified using jarsigner -verify Uploader.jar.
my end pupose is to allow Multi File Uploading on my site.
I just want my users to accept my applet, and allow my applet to have read permissions enabled.
I'm not sure if i need a policy file, and if so, where to put that? in the jar? in the same directory? or do I tell the Html file to link to where the policy file is.
I don't want my users to have to do anything but accept my applet.
below is my java code for the uploader.. I thought maybe I need to request permission there too.
And below that is the html file located on the desktop that loads my applet... incase i need to put code in that too.. like a link to a policy file?

  • What Are the Security Implications of not Completely Signing Database?

    Hello everyone,
What are the security implications of not completely signing the database?
    From http://www.archlinux.org/pacman/ ,
The following quote implies that the database exists merely just in case hand tweaking is necessary:
maintains a text-based package database (more of a hierarchy), just in case some hand tweaking is necessary.
However, considering that there are cases that pacman's local database needs to be restored, there are implications that the database is essential for pacman to function properly.
    From https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ho … l_Database :
    Restore pacman's local database
Signs that pacman needs a local database restoration:
    - pacman -Q gives absolutely no output, and pacman -Syu erroneously reports that the system is up to date.
    - When trying to install a package using pacman -S package, and it outputs a list of already satisfied dependencies.
    - When testdb (part of pacman) reports database inconsistency.
Most likely, pacman's database of installed software, /var/lib/pacman/local, has been corrupted or deleted. While this is a serious problem, it can be restored by following the instructions below.
I know that all official packages (from core, extra, community, etc.) are signed so that all files should be safe, but I'm just paranoid.
What if the database was hacked?  Will this lead to installation of harmful software?
    Sincerely,
    Cylinder57

    From this quote:
Allan wrote:But, the OP (also?) talks about the local package database on his computer.  That is not signed at all as there is no point.  If someone can modify that, then they can regenerate the signature, or just modify any other piece of software on your computer.
Is it going to be easy for anyone other than the authorized user to modify the local package database?
Allan basically answered that with the quote above already as I understand it. Someone who has access to the installation, e.g. is able chrooting your PC via USB, is not held back by any ACLs. However, modifying the local database only makes limited sense because the packages are already installed. Pacman would only recheck, if you re-install a package. The only really relevant attack vector for the package database is
    (1) installing an older package with a vulnerability,
    (2) re-placing the up-to-date package sig in the local database with the older one and
    (3) modifying the system, e.g. via pacman.conf excludes, to not update that.
then also re-installing would not create a sig-error and you get stuck with the bogus old package.
With a signed database this would not be possible. However, as Allan wrote earlier also with a signed database that criminal can manually install (totally leaving pacman & package cache) whatever it needs in this scenario. So, if you are -really- paranoid about that, you probably want to spend (a lot of configuring) time with something like the "aide" package.
    Cylinder57 wrote:
And, are the following statements correct:
If the repository databases are modified, the hacker might be able to modify the packages on the server (Considering that if someone can modify the local package database, that person can modify any other piece of software on that particular computer.)
However, pacman won't let users from installing the modified packages (due to package signing,) unless at one person with access is bribed (at least, for an individual package.)
I don't know the intricacies of the server infrastructure - only saw they have great names :-), but I am pretty certain your statements assume that correctly. It is pretty unlikely that someone able to modify the central repository database fails at placing a bogus package for shipping with those access rights at this time. Yet it does no harm not to post any details of such a scenario here imo. In any case: A compromised mirror would be enough for that - and easier to achieve (hacked anywhere or e.g. in a non-democratic state). Plus you also answered it yourself. The keys are key for our safety there. Which keeps me hoping that no criminal lawnmover salesmen frequent the Brisbane area.
As you put up a thread about this, one question you can ask yourself is:
Have you always checked on updates new signatures keys which pacman asks about? If you ever pressed "accept/enter" without checking them out-of-band (e.g. the webserver), that compromised mirror database might have just created a "legitimate" key .. user error, but another attack vector the database signing would catch.
edit: Re-thinking the last paragraph just after posting, I now believe it would not be that easy as implied - simply because the bogus key is not trusted by one of the master keys. The pacman pgp trust model should catch that without database signing. At least it would if only the official repositories are activated, but that's a pre-requisite to the whole thread.

what are the meanings of Apple Hardware Test error codes 4m0t/4/40000003:hdd-1300 and 4m0t/4/40000003:hdd-1308?

Thanks - Even though I'm years out of warranty I got chat help from Apple (I said they should help me since the codes aren't published.)  We covered three different questions, and although I didn't get a specific decoding of the error code, I got confirmation of what other comments here imply - it might have helped that I indicated I'd already been here - and useful links to how to do back ups, including to CD(s). (I don't have a lot of data on this computer yet)
Now I need to figure out how to decide how hot-to-the-touch is "too hot" for the metal frame at the top of the iMac to decide whether I'm getting adequate fan performance or insufficient.  While chatting I initially reported it was cool at the bottom and warm at the top.  Apple hadn't asked, but their response prompted me to feel it again, and I'd say the top was hot, not warm - I updated but Apple didn't comment further except to conclude after addressing the other questions that I should take it in for further assessment - don't really want to bother with that.

  • What are the signs of water damage to my macbook pro

my boyfriend set everything in the back of the truck, including my laptop, while he was cleaning out the inside. when finished he put everything back in the truck, and drove through a carwash. unfortunately, my laptop was in its black sleeve and blended in, getting left in the bed of the truck. it was in a protective sleeve and had a smartshell case on it. both are not the best protection though, especially against water. he claims the computer was dry when he took it out of everything but i dont see how thats possible. though i am currently using it, and i havent noticed any signs of damage, what are the chances the laptop has damage that will take effect later? its been a month already. but i dont want to open it one day and everythings erased or something. im only thinking about it again because every time i click an icon, it jumps to another desktop. thats only been happening today. are there any warning signs i can look for so i can fix it before it gets really bad?

Any anomalies should make you suspect that you suffered some type of water damage. Because liquid damage can take many routes, as corrosion begins to set it, you may not know that damage has occurred until strange things start happening with your system.
Probably the best thing you can do, since an anomaly has presented itself, is to take your machine into an Apple Store or an AASP for a free diagnosis. If they notice that the liquid sensors have been activated, they will let you know.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
