• Problem with Top Sites in Safari 8.0.4

Hello:
I just bought a macbook pro, updated all software patches that needed to be done and tried to add my personal top sites in safari. I like to browse visually with them.
The problem is that I have a 12 icon grid. I have successfully done most of them but there are a couple of glitches:
Safari refuses to add my personal webmail site to the top sites http://webmail.velarde.com/
I add it, pin it.. in the place i want . quit safari, reopen and it;s lost.... I've done it lots of times... restarted the computer , erased safari's Top sites plist, etc...
It refuses to keep my site and also add the last 12 icon... I never loads anything there and won't let me add any site in the 12th position.... If I add it, it will dissapear and leave me a gap after I quit and reopen... All the 11 other icons are working as expected.
It's very strange... I know they are a couple of small issues but would love to fix it... This is the first time this has happened to me.
Thanks for any help

what I'm expecting is by doing a limitation in a lov, is that when I press the find button, the result reflects that previous limitatio.
The form I'm working is "Purchase Order Summary" in Purchasing module, and I want to a restriction in Ship-To field, for a certain profile condition.
So, when I do that limitation, the LOV of the field, shows the only possible Ship-To records, but when I press the Find button, the result is more than the expect.
I also tried to change the DEFAULT_WHERE but I also have had success
I really don't know if this is possible to do in the personalization, or if it better to use the custom.pll to do that.
Thanks

• How to edit the top sites on safari 7.0.1

The edit button that usually sits at the bottom of the top sites page in safari no longer exists and i can't figure out how to change my top sites or the amount of top sites displayed.

Safari 7
Top Sites Edit button is moved to top left corner the tile from the bottom left corner.
Hover the mouse pointer near the top left corner of the tile,
Edit button and the pin should appear.
Best.

• How come some of my "top sites" in safari won't show the pages?

I had to restore my system and now some of the TOP SITES in safari wont show the pages and only show the black page. If I click on the black page, it loads the page, but it stays black in top sites. Any help would be nice thanks

It is probably just an artifact of restoring. Once you type their names into the url bar again, the sites and their last images will show up again in Top Sites.
I use an obscure method that clears all caches on every logout, and my top sites always comes up all black when I log in. It is not really a defect, it just does not have an old page-image to show you until you visit that site again.

• How can I add a website to Top Sites in Safari?

How can I add a website to Top Sites in Safari 7.0.1? Thanks for your help.

I figured it out. Go to the website you want to save to Top Sites. Click on Bookmarks, click Add Bookmark, a small window comes up saying "Add this page to: ", click the arrows for the drop down menu and click Top Sites and OK. Then your site will be added to your Top Sites. :-)

• Top Sites at Safari Won't Stay

I only got this laptop for weeks and I can't figure out how to keep my picked top sites at Safari. I clicked the EDIT button and pushed the pin for all the sites I wish to be kept at top sites but they will run after I restart my laptop.
I read a thread about this same issue here and the user was told to remove the file, topsties.plist - at Home/Library/Safari. I tried to do the same thing but I couldn't find the file anywhere from my laptop.
Need help here!
Thanks!

You can always bookmark them too.

• Why can't I right click or click with my scroll wheel on Top Sites in Safari 8?

Why can't I right click or click with my scroll wheel on Top Sites in Safari 8 to open the selected website in new windows? I was able to do that in the last version of Safari before upgrading to Yosemite and Safari 8.

Having to hold down the command key obviates the ease of use where I used to just click with my scroll wheel to open several of the Top Sites in new tabs.

• What are top-level workitems

what are top-level workitems,i could see this check box in swwl tcode

Any single task is a top-level item, and in addition any workflow work items that are not subworkflows are top-level items. It is explained at help.sap.com
All work items are of course found in SWWIHEAD - not just the top-level items. Since both single tasks (type B or W) and multistep tasks (type F) can be top-level items you must identify them by their lack of a parent item. Specify WI_CHCKWI = (initial), that will return only top-level items.

• Top Sites and Safari bookmarks

iMAC with MAC OS X10.6.3; Safari 4.0.5(6531.22.7) approx. 18months old.
For about three months now I cannot delete bookmarks. Every time I follow instructions the bookmark disappears until the next reboot when it reappears.
A similar thing happens when I try to change a site in Top Sites; the change goes smoothly until the next reboot when the site reverts back to what it was before.
I really would appreciate any help in this trivial but frustrating matter!

Hi
Open Safari Preferences>Bookmarks. Uncheck Top Sites. The Show All Bookmarks Icon is part of the Bookmarks Bar. You would have to hide the Bookmarks Bar to get rid of it (shift/command/B), which may be more than you are asking for.

• Top Sites in Safari 6

how do i restore the new page content notification in top sites?

There's been several other threads about this issue and I'll repost what I found below, unfortunately its bad news for everyone wanting the Top Sites update site indicator to work with Safari v6 (which includes me).
The short version is that the Top Sites site update indicator (blue curl with white star) is not supposed to work in Safari v6.0 and its a "feature" of v6.0 (meaning its not supposed to work) not a bug - also means its not likely to come back.
The top sites web page update indicator uses the RSS functionality (yep the same one Apple got rid of in Safari v6) to tell if a page is updated or not, without RSS the page update indicator won't work - and part of this RSS functionality was actually integrated into OS X at the operating system level and was removed in Mountain Lion (this is why Safari v5.1.7 with RSS and top site indicator functionality crashes when launched on Mountain Lion...the backend RSS plumbing etc. that Safari v5.1.7 is expecting is not there).
Here's the page I found the information in the comments section about these details - serious bummer:
http://www.macworld.com/article/1168016/bugs_and_fixes_troubleshooting_mountain_ lion.html
As mentioned before, if you are running Lion, you can grab a copy of the Safari v5.1.7 package from Time Machine or another Mac (about 40MB in size and Snow Leopard did not get the v6 update) and copy it into a new directory (you create) in the Applications folder on your Lion Mac and it should run fine (with RSS and Top Site page update functionality...works for me). Be sure not to launch both versions at the same time as you could corrupt your user settings (since they use the same files for bookmarks etc.).
Mountain Lion users are stuck since the RSS functionality that the Top Site update indicator needs has literally been ripped out of OS X. Safari v5.1.7 will crash when launched in Mountain Lion because this backend functionality isn't there. For folks that are truly desperate, you could roll back (or reinstall) to Lion or Snow Leopard (although only Lion and Mountain Lion are getting system updates at this point) and then run Safari v5.1.7.
This is such a constantly used (the situational awareness of what page has been updated is so valuable) piece of functionality for me I will just run v5.1.7 for the time being (not a good long term solution since there aren't going to be anymore security updates for Safari v5.1.7, only v6...).
As far as I can tell other Browsers basically have what Safari v6 has, which is thumbnail screens of favorite sites with images that get updated (on some browsers - Firefox, Chrome?) and doesn't get updated on others (Opera) - but none of them has page update indicators like Safari v5.x. I wish one did have the Top Sites page update indicator functionality as I'd switch in an instant.
Total bummer watching this really useful and valuable feature get killed cause Apple wanted to strip out (web standard) RSS functionality from OS X and leaving the users in the dark about it all, as we try to figure out what happened. My sympathies to everyone who loves this feature as do I.

• Going to Facebook & Apple Support sites via Top Sites Freezes Safari

Over & over, if I try to access FB or Apple's Discussion page, I get the swirling ball of doom, it remains spinning until I close & reboot Safari. What could be causing this totally inconvenient response from what should be a convenient feature? Thanks...

Saxman --
I understand from another thread that this is ONLY when
using Top Sites to access them. Using a URL or other access,
you have no problems. Is that correct?

• How to change the Top sites in Safari 6.1 ?

the thing is, when I decided to update my Safari, it changed. I can't edit the Top sites because I can't find the oh-so-called 'edit' button.
so how can I change it??

This is how I did it using Safari 6.1.3:
Add the webpage you want to add to your Top Sites to your Bookmarks Bar by dragging the URL to the Bookmarks Bar.
Open your Top Site page and make sure your Bookmarks are open in your sidebar (View > Show Sidebar > Bookmarks)
Drag the webpage you added to your Bookmarks Bar in [1] onto the Top Sites page. The existing pages will move around and you can drop your webpage when you're happy with its position.
Hope it works!

• What are web sites like without Adobe Flash?

I'm new to the tablet world and am considering buying an iPad, but I understand that Adobe Flash will not be enabled when I browse on web pages. Can folks tell me how they've dealt with this, what are the consequences, etc. There must be articles about this? Thanks.

I guess I wanted to get a sense of what it's like browsing without Flash.
The iPad has a low powered dual core netbook like processor, so it's limited on what it can do and what it can see online.
Either you work within it's restrictions or you get a normal laptop for just about the same cost.
Here is a results of a browser functionality test on Firefox on my MacBook Pro verses a iPad 2 and others.
And to add insult to injury, Safari on a Mac is about 2x times better than Firefox on a Mac.
But Firefox on Windows is #1 and Safari on Windows is dead last, behind IE!
Strangeness is everywhere.

• How do I setup "Top Sites" in Safari?

I've installed Safari on several PC & 2 REAL computers (Mac). Some PC have Windoze 7 & some XP. I downloaded & saved Safari to a folder on my hard drive & installed it on several PC from that same .EXE file. On a couple PC there's no optin for "Top Sites" in Preferences for the setting, "New Tabs Open With".
I'd like to know if anyone would please help me get that set correctly.
Does anyone have any idea why/how it's not the same on all PC? At first I thought it had something to do with Windoze 7 vs XP, but some XP boxes have it & some don't. The setting is there on the Mac of course. THEY'RE not a problem. Just the PC.
It's kinda driving me crazy. I'm already pretty close anyway, so it's not going to take much to push me over the edge....
THANK YOU!!

When I restarted my computer, an iBook G4 with Tiger, the Top Site icon disappeared again. I re-installed Safari 4 a second time, and the Top Site was restored again, until I restarted my computer, when it disappeared. It's not listed in Safari>preferences>bookmarks.
Does anyone have a solution.

• Delete the show side bar and top sites from Safari

I have never nor will I ever use the tabs for top sites and show sidebar which appear on Safari. How do I delete them from the tab bar?

Robert
aha! NOT tab bar BUT Bookmarks Bar! I guessed the TOOL bar at first. BOOKMARKS!
In the main menu bar choose [Help] > Safari Help
search " deleting bookmarks " > open that file
*in my version, it says "
You can’t remove the bookmarks bar or Bookmarks menu from the sidebar. You can’t remove History and All RSS Feeds, but you can delete individual bookmarks within them.
To remove Address Book and Bonjour from the sidebar, open the Bookmarks pane of Safari preferences and deselect them."
key to the bold statement is that one of the icons that you wish to disappear, may not not be removable. It is certain the 'Open Book' is there to stay.
I have personalized my Safari so much that I don't find your "Top Sites" folder or icon - If I removed it in the Bookmarks window, it would naturally disappear from the bookmarks toolbar - if you see it in the list, remove it and I'll bet it magically disappears from the Bookmarks Bar.
