Here is the question I always ask myself when I look at Memory usage from Activity Monitor. There are many things there and have a weird names. Is there any ways to know what are using RAM on your MacBook Pro?
Thanks
Compare what Activity Monitor is showing to this list.

What is the best external battery to use with a macbook pro retina?
Looking for the best option here. What is the best external battery to use with a macbook pro retina?
You should check your date of purchase against the manufacturer's warranty
or guaranty since some of those better brands have some recourse should
they fail within a specified time period. A good reason to save dated receipts.
Since solid-state USB drives probably don't (all) use a wear-leveling software
to equally utilize their recordable space evenly, it is possible that some of these
may exhibit a failure in some sector areas due to excessive over-writing. If the
ones you use do not have such a technology or an undercounted total capacity
with a means to automatically write in other sections, you may have to consider
manually using a disk utility to zero-overwrite and reformat them occasionally.
Even so, that may only help a marginal flash or thumb drive work a little longer.
Should a camera memory card fail you still may be able to attempt with margin of
success, to +recover image files+ from it. re: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec
The standard default format they ship with works well for most file types; so if
you aren't moving OS X or Mac app specific files around on a USB flash drive,
the original format should be fine. Oh, you can use Disk Utility to attempt to do
a repair; but in some cases you may have to reformat them, etc.
{Some of the flash drive warranties or guarantees may vary from between regions;
so if you have one with a '5 Year' guarantee in the US, other rules may apply in EU,
or when you seek to replace an item under warranty outside of where it was bought.}
Good luck & happy computing! -
What is the problem on MacBook Pro retina 15"?
I just bought a new MacBook Pro retina 15". After unboxing, I turned it on and there was no any problem. But the second time I turned it on and charge battery, I got 2 problems, 1. The machine made noise loudly and 2. The charging is not working. What is the problem on MacBook Pro retina 15"? However, after about 1 hour, it works normally. Should I still use it or sell it before it has more issues?
The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies. -

Photos on sites are blurry on the Macbook Pro Retina Display?
I just got a Macbook Pro Retina Display and while browsing I noticed that logos and photos on sites looked blurry. this is something that really bothers me in the fact that I'm a design and photography student.. i dont know if i should return it and get the old macbook pro or what...
Give the world time. Resolutions above 2560x1600 are only meant for the 30" cinema display I am using right now, and the rest of the world does not have resolution suited for displays above 200ppi below 30". But, you are a photographer, so am I, and the Retina Display is beautiful at high res content including DSLRs and film scans.

It appears that only one of my fans are working on my macbook pro with retina display 13 inch late 2013 model. Is some thing wrong? if so how can i fix it?
To my knowledge there is only one fan on all 13" Mac notebooks, Retina or standard screen. Not enough space for a second fan and no Discrete GPU to cool.
So nothing is wrong. -
Bug using iPhoto on Macbook Pro Retina
Hi Guys,
First post.
I have the new Macbook Pro Retina 13"
Whenever I use iPhoto, as soon as I go to another program and come back it takes me to "Last import" folder regardless of where I was.
Is there a fix for this bug? It's really annoyingUsing iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
and select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2: Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
If the new library doesn't work properly try this:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Open the library package like this.
2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note: your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
In either case your current library will be untouched for further testing if necessary. -
How can I use SDXC on MacBook Pro Retina and Bootcamp?
I bought a Patriot LX Series 128GB SDXC card recently for my MacBook Pro Retina. When I insert it on Mac, it is recognized no problem. In Windows 8 (on Boot Camp), it scans indefinitely and often-time it crashes Windows Explorer, just to insert it. Has anyone had any issues with SDXC on Boot Camp? For me, it's just not working.
Lion tech Specs: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP629
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
But the latest Aperture requires 10.7.5 at least; I cannot find the TechSpecs for that system, if I remember correctly 64 bit processor was mandatory, same as for Mt. Lion.
One other thought - if both systems cannot be upgraded to the same OS, why not create a Snowleopard partition on the newer mac and have both machines run Aperture 3.2.4. This would require to restore the previous version of the Aperture library from backup, however. -
Digitize Using HDMI on MacBook Pro Retina?
Hi all. I'm considering upgrading to Final Cut X, but I have a question. I just got a new MacBook Pro Retina which has a built-in HDMI port. Is it possible for me to hook up my camcorder via HDMI and then digitize video/audio?
I'm sure it's safe to assume that HDMI cannot provide deck control and timecode, which is fine.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.Right as Tom says- not out of the box with the MacBook Pro alone. But you can get this via gear from companies like AJA and Blackmagic.

What are the symptons of macbook pro hard drive not running fast enough
what are the symptons of the hard drive not running fast enough
Physically the drive will be as fast as any other of its class, and if not then it's experiencing a mechanical issue that should prompt a warning or two in the system, especially if you use a drive management tool like Disk Utility that checks the drive's built-in "S.M.A.R.T." diagnostics.
As for "logical speed," if there are bad blocks on the drive where sectors cannot be read or written to because of a breakdown of the storage medium, then this can result in a program or the entire system crashing or hanging (generally the latter is the case), where it usually pauses for a number of seconds at a time. This is usually accompanied by messages that state "I/O Error" or other similar warning in the OS X Console (in the Applications > Utilities folder).
Beyond this, drive formatting errors such as might happen after a crash or power outage can result in similar hang-like behavior, though this is usually not as distinct of a hanging behavior as is seen with bad blocks.
Finally, if the drive is simply full of files or highly fragmented (not as much of a problem in OS X, but it can happen), then this can reduce access time for reading and writing files, and prevent the system from optimizing the use of RAM, which can result in overall slowdowns. Heavy drive use can also cause similar bottlenecks, but this is ususally only an intermittent issue during a time when you are performing a heavy file transfer or copying process, or other task that occupies access to the drive's index and formatting (e.g., if you check it for errors with Disk Utility, then you may see the system pause or slow down during the check). -
What are the differences between MacBook Pro 2008 and MacBook Pro 2012?
AirPlay Mirror in OS X Mountain Lion, allows the user to connect a MacBook Pro to a TV using Apple TV, but only if the MacBook Pro is early 2011 or newer. My MacBook Pro is 2008, 2.5 GHz Core 2 Duo with 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. What am I missing that would allow me to use AirPlay Mirror, and is it possible for me to upgrade my MBP to early 2011 specs?
About four years of hardware change. You csnnot upgrade your hardware. You can simply buy a new computer or find an alternative:
About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

Thanks to the $15 Beamer, AirPlay streaming is still possible on Macs that do not support Airplay and mirroring.
Another solution is the Air Parrot. -
How to use Siri on Macbook Pro Retina

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Siri can't be used in the Mac. However, you can use Dictation if you have Mountain Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5449
If you haven't got Mountain Lion, try Dragon as Kappy has already said -
My Notes are blank on my MacBook Pro Retina display
My Notes show up but when you click on the Note it's blank. The new Notes that I make have the title and the information in the Note.
Hi, I have the same problem. I have unchecked and rechecked the notes in iCloud settings and there is no difference. The titles of the notes are there, but no content. When I log on to the cloud through a browser I can go to notes and they are all there but they won't display the contents on my MacBook Pro .... soooooooooo frustrating.
