What are you talking about????

I can not believe that i am having this much problem getting my adobe connected. I don't know if i did something wrong or not. I just want it fixed. You told me i didn't have a contract with you but yes i do. I also deleted all of adobe from my computer because you said i didn't have a contact. If you could help me i would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Marian

Hi Marian.
This forum is mostly ran by other users such as yourself. We are not Adobe support but that doesn't mean we can't help. If you could start from the beginning and give us some information (such as what Adobe product you are talking about and exactly what is happening) we can get started.

Disable the computer's security software during the download and update.  You could have easily found this answer by searching this forum since the question gets asked maybe a dozen times a day.

  • Russian Government and Customer Data--Privacy Legislation, what are you doing about this?

Apparently the Russian government recently accelerated legislation that will require personal data on Russian citizens to be stored in Russia.  What is Oracle Eloqua or your company's feedback on how your are planning to respond to this or how other customers are responding.  As SaaS, I don’t believe we have a way to store Russian contacts in Eloqua in Russia.  See the basics of the legislation below.
Federal Law No. 242-FZ "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation for Clarification of the Procedure of Personal Data Processing in Information and Telecommunication Networks" (the "Federal Law No. 242") was adopted on 21 July 2014.
Federal Law No. 242 introduces the following changes:
to Federal Law No. 152-FZ "On personal data" dated 27 July 2006 (as amended) by establishing localization requirement for personal data processing; and
to Federal Law No. 149-FZ "On information, information technologies and protection of information" dated 27 July 2006 (as amended) by establishing procedure for blocking access to information resources on which unlawful processing of personal data takes place.
Federal Law No. 242 comes into force on 1 September 2016. The acceleration of the entry into force and change of the effective date of the Federal Law No. 242 to 1 January 2015 is however proposed by a draft law which was submitted to the State Duma (lower chamber of the Russian Parliament) on 1 September 2014. In order to become a law, the draft amendments shall be adopted through the usual law-making procedure, which duration is difficult to predict (it involves adoption by the State Duma in three readings, approval by the Federation Council (upper chamber of the Russian Parliament), signing by the President of the Russian Federation and official publication).
Localization requirement for personal data processing
Under Federal Law No. 242 so called "operators" or "personal data operators" are required to carry out certain types of "processing" of Russian citizens' "personal data" by using "databases", located in Russia. In this context:
    Personal data means any information directly or indirectly related to any identified or potentially identifiable person. It includes, among other things, first name and family name, date and place of birth, address, information about family status, education, profession, income;
    Personal data operator means a state or municipal authority, legal entity or individual that solely or jointly organize(s)and/or perform(s) the processing of personal data and determine(s) the purposes and scope of such processing;
Localization requirement applies not to all but only to the following types of personal data processing: recording, systematization, accumulation, storage, specification (updating and amending), and extracting; [1]
    Personal data processing means any action or combination of actions performed with regard to / with any personal data, including collection, recording, systematization, accumulation, storage, use, transfer (distributing, providing or authorizing access to), blocking, deleting and destroying of any personal data;
Database means set of independent materials systematized in such a way that these materials can be retrieved and processed using the computer; and
Before starting personal data processing operators are required to notify the Federal Service for Supervision in the Area of Telecoms, Information Technologies and Mass Communications, which is the state authority responsible for the enforcement of the Personal Data Law ("Roskomnadzor") on the location of the database(s) containing personal data of Russian citizens.
The requirement of using databases "located in Russia" is not entirely clear, especially given that location of certain databases (e.g. clouds) is difficult to ascertain, but most likely this requirement implies that personal data operators are required to use local facilities (server(s) / data center(s)) located in Russia either owned or provided by third parties; each potential option requires proper legal and tax consideration.
It is not yet clear from Federal Law No. 242 whether Russian citizens' personal data may be processed with the use of the databases located outside of Russia in addition to being processed using databases located in Russia (e.g. for the purposes of back-up or duplicate storage).
Procedure for blocking access to infringing information resources
Procedure for blocking information resources on which unlawful processing of personal data takes place, introduced by Federal Law No. 242, includes the following stages:
Stage 1: The "personal data subject" (any individual identified or potentially identifiable on the basis of the personal data) whose personal data is being processed unlawfully shall obtain the relevant court decision acknowledging the unlawful processing of his/her personal data.
Stage 2: After entry of the relevant court decision into force the personal data subject may apply to Roskomnadzor with the request to limit access to his/her personal data.
Stage 3: Roskomnadzor within 3 (three) business days from the date of the relevant court decision's entry to force shall determine the hosting provider or any other person ensuring the processing of the personal data (the "Hosting Provider"), serve the Hosting Provider with a notification requesting the Hosting Provider to take measures to terminate unlawful processing of personal data and include information on the unlawful processing of personal data (including domain name, webpage, web address identifying websites on which personal data has been unlawfully processed, etc.) into the Register of Infringers of Rights of the Personal Data Subjects.
Stage 4: The Hosting Provider within 1 (one) business day from the date of receipt by the Hosting Provider of Roskomnadzor's notification shall liaise with the operator of the information resource, serviced by the Hosting Operator, requesting the operator of the information resource to terminate unlawful processing of personal data or restrict access to unlawfully processed information.
Stage 5: The operator of the information resource shall terminate unlawful processing of personal data within 1 (one) business day from the date of receipt of the request from the Hosting Operator. If the unlawful processing of personal data is not terminated by the operator of the information resource, the Hosting Provider, must restrict access to the information resource on which that personal data has been unlawfully processed not later than within 3 (three) business days from the date of receipt by the Hosting Provider of Roskomnadzor's notification.
Stage 6: Failure of the Hosting Provider or the operator of the information resource to undertake measures, described in Stages 4 and 5 above, entails submission of the information about unlawful processing of personal data to the telecommunication companies, which shall restrict access to the information resource on which that personal data has been unlawfully processed (including blocking of the relevant domain name or website). If the measures described in Stages 4 and 5 above are properly undertaken or if the court decision acknowledging the unlawful processing of personal data is overruled, Roskomnadzor or the entity keeping and maintaining the Register of Infringers of Rights of the Personal Data Subjects removes the information on the unlawful processing of personal data from such register.
1 - Excluding personal data processing: to achieve objectives stipulated by the international treaties of the Russian Federation or law, and for the performance of functions, powers or obligations of the personal data operators, imposed by law; (ii) for the performance of justice, enforcement of a judicial act, act of another authority or official, as provided by the laws on enforcement of judicial decisions; (iii) for the performance of powers imposed on the federal and municipal authorities, non-budgetary funds and organizations rendering state and municipal services, including registration in the unified and regional portals of state and municipal services; or (iv) for the professional activities of a journalist or mass media or for scientific, literature or other artistic activities, provided that rights and legal interests of the personal data subjects are not breached.

  • What are you doing about your problem wifi

Just wondering how people are handling their iPads with problem wifi.
    No need for discussions.
    Choices:
    A) Returned the iPad
    B) Fixed the wifi (somehow)
    C) Keeping the iPad with wifi not working
    thanks

Not exactly.. The HP Slate is a full-on computing experience, geared toward actual computer-related use,
..and based on an OS that was designed to be used with a keyboard and mouse with applications also designed to use a keyboard and mouse. Unless Win7 has had a miraculous make-over with tablets in mind from the bottom up, the experience will be painful. For example, you'll find it necessary to keep a stylus at all times because the controls are fine tuned to the discrete and accurate mouse pointer, not the large size of the human digit. I used an HP tablet for two summers and tried very hard to use it as a tablet and not a notebook. I always wound up with the keyboard. Yeah, the Slate is going to be a wonderful experience...
where the iPad is more for entertainment.
Yeah, that explains why I've been able to handle so much of my work on the iPad from creating documents and presentation to even starting a rather complex illustration. No, the iPad isn't a notebook computer - nor was it meant to be. All my Pages and Keynote documents have been moved from the iPad to my computer for final touch-ups but that's okay for me. The documents ultimately get used from there anyway.
There are always trade-offs when we want to shrink our computer small enough to carry around and the tablet requires even more trade-offs. Apple chose to lighten the OS so the drag on the processor and battery is reduced. HP chose to design around Windows 7 so it has to accept a combination of slower speed and reduced battery life. The next question is how will developers react to the HP Slate - will they build special apps for it or will they slap on tabletish interfaces to their Windows programs. I'm betting most will choose the latter. More drain on battery and speed. That's why I predict the HP Slate will be another Microsoft non-starter.

  • So what are you going to do about it?

What are you going to do about these iPad2 shipping problems, Verizon? Your plastered dates of "3-4 weeks" has passed and we are now in week 5+ with nothing to show for. How is this problem going to be rectified? I'm tired of talking to phone reps that have no information because they can't see store systems, and I'm tired of retail stores that hide the screen and blurt off "it's in the warehouse system, but that's all the information we have right now." **bleep**!? You guys got my money over a month ago. Apple has been back to 2-3 week delivery estimate for at least a week now. I would love an answer. Maybe this board will be more successful than actually talking to you guys in person or over the phone. I would love a response, even if it's through private message or email. I've tried your other routes.

On yesterday, I was extremely fed up with waiting as I just hit 4 weeks (ordered March 22nd), I told my CSR (in an email) to cancel my stinking order, demanded my money back, called the 800 number three or four times to gripe and complain and I FINALLY GOT SOMEBODY ON THE PHONE that cared enough to actually do something about it!  I'm sure all you have experienced the same thing where the rep on the 800 number is just briefly glancing at the order and then giving the company line.
I pressed yesterday and told the rep I needed someone that would escalate this and give me answers because there was certainly a Black 32 GB/3G with my name on it and that someone just had to push the right d**m button to match it up with me. Well she placed me on hold for 5 or 6 minutes maybe even longer but it was worth the wait.  She told me that she did not have access to see anything with my order but that she got a floor supervisor because she too was concerned that my wait had been too long (going on 5 weeks on this Tuesday).  The Supervisor did have the magic access and was able to determine that my shipping date is Monday, April 25th and that I'll have it on two days Fedex delivery (April 27th)!!  I felt relieved to hear this and so was the CSR and she told me how excited she was to be able to provide me relevant information!  On Monday, I should finally have a tracking number and hopefully my package will arrive as promised.
I will gladly return to this forum on Monday evening with an update but I must stress to each of you who were like me languishing on 4 to 5 weeks to make the same call to 877-807-4372 (regional Telesales) number.  Give them your location code and they can tell you which region you ordered from if you ordered by phone.  I live in Texas and my call was handled by the South region for Telesales and their number is 800-256-4646.  Please don't waste your time calling the general Customer Service number (800-922-0204)....you need Telesales and you specifically need your regional team that you ordered from.  Press the CSR to check with a supervisor to gain detail shipping information because it is their beyond the grasp of the CSR!!!

  • What is iMovie talking about with this error message?

I have an iMovie 4 project that has been output to iDVD successfully some time ago from my G4 (Tiger 10.4.8). I recently copied it onto my iBook (600MHz - 10.4.8). When I try to insert an extra Title before a new footage clip I get the message - "You can't run this application from a read only disk." So I press OK and then I get "Error in system operation (-5000).
What is it talking about ?
    Any advice much appreciated!
    Thanks
    Arnie

If you have two versions of the project available — one on the DVD and one on the hard disk — make absolutely sure you are opening the one on the hard disk. If iMovie is opening the last-opened project, it may be opening the project on the DVD.

  • What Are You Serving - Warning: US-Centric

It is now into the Memorial Day weekend in the US. What are you serving?
We looked into ribs, but decided that the marinade time was too long for Sunday evening. Instead, we opted for smoked brats on whole-wheat buns with chili, sauerkraut and shredded cheddar cheese (note lack of capitalization on cheddar). Ribs will be tomorrow evening.
Matching tonight's brats with an AZ Zinfandel, though it will likely not be available outside of the state of AZ.
Not sure what will go with the ribs, but am thinking of a Santa Clara Syrah, or maybe a big Pinot Noir.

The gentleman farmer (read winery owner) is Joe Anderson of Benovia Winery (great PN's, Zins and some very interesting Chards). He is also an aviator and multi-engine pilot. He was a principle in Schaller-Anderson, a healthcare plan administration company. Joe developed most of the software, with Dr. Schaller, and sold the organization to Mercy Healthcare Plan. This is the group that provides employee healthcare to such organizations as Catholic Healthcare West's Arizona hospitals, and to Carondelete Healthcare in Tucson, AZ. Joe walked away a very rich man, and now gets to support his two hobbies: winery owner (gentleman farmer) and aviator. I know that he flies a couple of his multi-engine ships, and has a jet, or two, but think that he uses a flight-crew for those. Could be wrong, and maybe he's a jet-pilot too?
I've flown a few ships, but only after take-off, and before landing, in "straight and level" situations. I have flown in dozens of tail-draggers, even out of friends' back yards. For strips such as those, a tricycle gear is NOT recommended, and for obvious reasons.
First time that my wife flew, we were in a Cessna 152, and flew out of one of those "backyards." We headed south of New Orleans and over towards the Mississippi Gulf Coast. My wife, and the pilot's date were in the back seats, and those were well below the level of our chairs. I'd flown this gentleman's planes before (though not his Stearman 450 - Joe's got one of those too, in military training garb), so I knew what to do. Over Cat Island, he told me to take the controls. My wife became upset, saying "Don't let him fly. He knows nothing about flying a plane!" We flew along for a bit (straight and level), and my wife kept it up. The pilot winked at me, and took over the controls, putting us into a heavily banked dive towards the island. My wife screamed, "I told you he didn't know how to fly a plane and now we're all going to die!" What fun, and we're still married, 38 years later. Now, I think that my wife would have more confidence, as she's flown "backseat" with me in numerous flight-sims, and has seen me land on rolling carriers, and tiny rice paddies, though all on a computer. I can imagine that we're headed to London in a 777OW and the pilot and co-pilot die. The distraught attendant comes into FC and announces, "does anybody know how to fly this plane?" and my wife pointing to me saying, "he can do it. He landed a 737 on an aircraft carrier in a storm!" How times have changed.
Now, with that same pilot and same ship, we flew over to Lafayette, LA for a football game. The airport was all by radio and visual, and no tower. On approach, we got a transmission from the plane in front of us, and he warned of severe cross winds and down drafts. The pilot set up, and began rotating. Things got very hairy, and he was working the flaps like never before. We were easily crabbing at 30º to the runway. Beads of sweat were rolling off of his forehead. My wife and his date were in the back seats, talking about what they were wearing to the game that nigh. I realized that things were not going well at all. Since the pilot was a crop duster, I had never seen him sweat, but we were committed by now, and it did not look good. At the last possible moment, he got us on line, flared out, and executed a perfect landing (between the numbers) with not one bump - smoothest landing that I have ever had in a light ship. Dead solid perfect. We taxied over to the gen-av hanger and the girls complimented him on the wonderful landing. We just looked at each other, and did not say a word. We knew how close it all came to being anything BUT a good landing.
I did my first aerial photography, harnessed into the grain/chemical hopper in his Stearman, shooting between the guy-wires, as he crabbed into my subject right at stall speed. I miss those days, but do like a comfortable ship, with a seasoned pilot and crew, and FC!
You know, even in my flight-sim days, do not think that I ever used a tail-dragger. Like the weasel reference. In south Louisiana, we were dodging crawfish holes, and wild possums and such.

  • Adobe, what do you think about that ?

    - one day I was demoing DPS to 35 people in Paris. The whole day the servers were barely accessible. For the reputation and reliability of DPS that was wonderful.
    - another day I was doing a little DPS demo for Adobe. Again the same problem.
    - another day, the demo was ruined because the servers were so slow.
    - this Monday morning, I open my iPad and I can see my latest Folio in ACV.
In the afternoon I join Adobe reps and partners and other VIPs in London for the launch of CS6. There I go with my iPad and what a surprise when I want to show the Folio to an Adobe representative ?
Despite being signed in, all my folios where archived and all in Download state. I could not access a WiFi and even if I could I think that downloading 500 Mb would be impossible.
Many people where asking me :
—"And are you teaching DPS ?"
    – I said "Yes, I'm even working on it for real projects."
    — "Do you have one to show us ?"
    – "No, because Adobe's software, for a reason that I don't understand, deleted all my folios a few moments ago and I would have to redownload them again. ACV sucks".
People to who I have talked to where Adobe people, chiefs of graphic studios (newspaper, agency,...), potential clients for DPS,...
There was even of Adobe person that told me : "We are receiving a lot of complaints about the technical model of DPS, and you're right, it's terrible".
There are so many problems with this app and with the servers.
DPS's reputation will may be better when one day we just play offline with the folios like a PDF in GoodReader for instance.
    DPS is exploding my bandwidth.

Peter, that is sad. If a publisher decides to pull the issue from the
server, that's like burning down their own library of things.
Apple wanted adobe to stop downloading such large data into the storage
that will be backed up. So issues now go into the cache, that will not be
    uploaded to the Icloud storage.
Because you buy a 64gb iPad, but get only 2Gb of online storage.

  • What do you think about the html5?

I've been seeing developers philosophizing about the future, and I want to know what do you think about the brand new html5?
mainly because the html5 can take out of the market technology ( flex ).
    thanks for the opinion!!!
    [email protected]

Yep this is most definitely not just a rumor, I've found plenty of sources talking about this.
Here's someone's take on HTML5, a non-Adobe perspective, from a Silverlight developer.  I thought this would be interesting to mention.  Not sure I agree 100% with everything said (IE may not be most used browser and I don't believe in DRM), but it's an interesting read anyway:
Yes, you can do a LOT of stuff with HTML5 + JS that Silverlight is good for. But HTML5 will only reach Candidate Recommendation status in 2012 - if Silverlight keeps the current pace, it will be at V7 by then.
HTML5 will only get you approximately what Silverlight had at V1.0. A Canvas element, some video playback capabilites, and a Javascript programming model. Can you imagine how further advanced Silverlight 4 is at the moment?
Actually, scratch that - the video quality and availability of HTML5 is a lot worse than what Silverlight has to offer. There is no DRM, no Smooth Streaming, not even full screen! No GPU acceleration either. Even the codec HTML5 has to support is not standardized! This results in Firefox 3.6 having only Theora decoder, and Youtube experimenting with HTML in H.264 (on the same day FF3.6 launched), only playable in approx. 4-5% of the world's browsers.
Internet Explorer is still the most widely used browser on the web, and does not have HTML5. Currently, there are more Silverlight capable browsers browsing the web than HTML5 compatible ones. I don't think that in the next 3 years you will be able to create an HTML5 app and hope that at least 50% of the world's population can view it without switching browsers. (and remember: installing a plugin is a lot less hassle than switching to a new browser!)
HTML5 will not be truly cross-browser standard for quite a long time, if ever. There are too many things that the browser developer can do as they wish - just think about the aforementioned video codec issue. There are too many little differences in each browser's Javascript implementation to make it really portable.
The developer story: nothing in the HTML + JS world comes close to the awesome Visual Studio and Expression Blend tools. Javascript is cool for small apps, but cannot hold a candle to C# when it comes to serious development. Fighting with browser and OS incompatilities takes up a huge amount of time for any HTML website or web app - with Silverlight you don't have this.
Just compare what the best HTML / Ajax company in the world (Google) did with maps, and what MS did to see the difference. Go tohttp://maps.google.com/ (watch out - the Streetview part is in Flash, not Ajax), and compare it to http://www.bing.com/maps/explore/. That is the difference I am talking about.
Of course he means (or should have meant) Flex/Flash rather than just Flash.  As for the GWT and other AJAX fanboys who I guess think browser compatibility problems are going to be a thing of the past (or won't be a drag on corporate bottom lines - haha), it makes you wonder what other wild fantasies they're envisioning for the future.  Next they'll come and tell us XML-based protocols are going to be as fast as AMF...

  • I´ve bought the new IPad3, what a disappointment the 3G does not work, no Internet available, APPLE what are you doing for the all the people in Germany who bought the new IPad3? I´m still an Apple fan, all my products are from Apple but I need a solution

  • What Are You Playing Right Now Thread

    Hey guys!
Let's start a good conversation! Thread topic is very simple which is...
What Are You Playing Right Now?
    > Give a short overview about the game you are playing or is hooked right now.
    > Give your recommendations to other members (good and bad or both are accepted)
    > Likes and Dislikes
    > Keep it clean and use English please
    Shall we start?
Right now I am playing Final Fantasy X... yes.. an old game..... it's taking a long time to complete it. Before it, I played Mass Effect 3. Very nice game! Love the story! A lot of action and drama too. Recommend it to FPS and RPG gamers! Love the graphics too! Lady characters are very sexy! I think I'm in love with Miranda :p I'm also playing a little BF3 from time to time. I'm planning to go back playing MMO but can't decide what to play yet. I played Dragon Nest but got tired of it...

    Quote from: Taskmaster;1295
we don't have FB in mainland...
and everything is more expensive in here.
I'd love to play HOTS thou
Yeah StarCraft 2 looks awesome. I think I did play the first installment before I started working. I would like to finish the story. Been a fan of it since the first StarCraft... I'm kinda in a need of advice right now. I'm tired of playing single-player games right now like Final Fantasy, ME3.. I still have Alan Wake and Max Payne 3 that I haven't touched yet.. I feel like going back to MMOs.. any good suggestions? I feel like playing Guild Wars 2 but I'm reluctant since it's kinda old now and getting on top of the ranks should be harder for anybody entering the game right now.. Hmmm.. any other suggestions?

  • What are you using as a Flash replacement for 64-bit machines?

    Hi,
I was reading about the vulnerabilities in Adobe's Flash and decided to remove the offending package. I opened Chromium to make sure my Flash still worked, as I understood that Chromium implemented another method for rendering Flash stuff. I was wrong. For example, YouTube tells me that I need Flash 10 or higher. I tried to re-install the flashplugin package, but it is no longer in the repos.
I can live without Flash content, but it's nice to have.
So the question is, what are you using instead, that can be installed from the main repos?
    Many thanks,
    Chris.

I have installed both lightspark 0.4.3 and gnash 0.8.8, since lightspark should be able to 'fall back to gnash for older videos' (see changelog of lightspark).
I have tried some flash-websites in firefox and all of them seem to use gnash and there was 1 website that didn't load the content (www.deredactie.be - our national tvstation). So, I'm under the impression that lightspark is not used by firefox.
Has anyone found out how to do this?
Secondly, gnash should be able to use VA-API (hardware acceleration). Is it just a question to install libva and let gnash do the rest, or does one have to recompile gnash to build the support in?
    Zl.
PS: to whoever thinks flashplugin is the 'real flash': gnash has beaten it in terms of providing hardware acceleration. hooray for opensource!

  • What are the rules about switching versions?

I thought projects created in iMovie 9 showed up in iMovie 10, but I just tried creating a new project in iMovie 9 this morning and it is not showing up in iMovie 10, even though I see projects from 2013 and before in there.
Also, what are the rules about switching versions? I know iMovie 9 much better, so can I start a project there and finish it in iMovie 10? I would like to gradually learn iMovie 10, but not all at once.
I assume that once a project is edited in iMovie 10, it can't be worked on in iMovie 9 anymore.

You have to update iMovie 9 projects to iMovie 10 from within iMovie 10 before they will appear in iMovie 10 as iMovie 10 uses a completely different project/event file system.  After updating you can still work on projects in iMovie 9 but you won't see any changes made in iMovie 10 and you can't transfer them back.
I would have a good look at the iMovie 10 help files first since a lot is changed and some features have been discontinued that might be important to you.
In order to try out iMovie 10 on just one of your iMovie 9 projects, put the folders just for that project in a separate iMovie Projects and iMovie Events folder and hide the project and event folders containing the projects you don't want to update from iMovie 10 by enclosing them in a higher level folder (only projects and events folders in the Movies folder of the boot drive or at the root level of another drive or partition will be visible to iMovie).
I did it this way and I'm glad I didn't try to update evrything at once!
    Geoff.

There are no known viruses for OS X.  If you have to worry about a website putting some malware on your computer, then you should not visit it any longer.  Find a legitimate site.
