What audio formats does imovie support?

thanks

iMovie is flexible.
The video and DVD standard is 48khz, so so if your camcorder has multiple audio settings, choose 48khz.
CDs and itunes tracks are in 44.1khz, and these can be used in iMovie projects.
I have never tried 96khz. I don't have any equipment that records at that rate.
As for bit depth, I am pretty sure it will accept both 16 and 24.  There is no way to set this parameter in iMovie.
If you do live recording into Logic Pro, you can use 24 bit depth, and then mix that into a 48khz or 44.1khz recording in AIFf, AAC, Mp3, etc. and use that in iMovie. I am not sure about GarageBand.

  • What Audio Formats Does iTunes Supports?

    is there a way to find out what formats iTunes supports?
    for example, does iTunes support OptimFROG Loseless or FLAC Loseless?
    thanks.

    iTunes uses Quicktime for audio playback and plays Apple Lossless, WAV, AIFF, MP3 and AAC files. If you want to play other formats, you generally have to convert them to a format iTunes supports (I use Apple Lossless myself). iTunes to FLAC is a group of Applescripts enabling FLAC file conversion in iTunes. For a guide to enabling OGG support in iTunes, see here. Other file conversion tools I use are Max and xAct.

  • What files formats does Itunes support

    what files formats does Itunes support???
    Been trying to load some anime into Itunes and they wont play on my Apple Tv, though they play on the computer. Why is that. I've got codes and all that other jazz. What gives....

    iTunes 11 can currently read, write and convert between MP3, AIFF, WAV, MPEG-4, AAC and Apple Lossless (.m4a).
    iTunes can also play any audio files that QuickTime can play (as well as some video formats), including Protected AAC files from the iTunes Store and Audible.com audio books. There is limited support for Vorbis and FLAC enclosed in an Ogg container (files using the Ogg container format are not natively supported) or Speex codecs with the Xiph QuickTime Components. Because tag editing and album art is done within iTunes and not QuickTime, these features will not work with these QuickTime components. As of Snow Leopard, iTunes 9 (Mac) will play HE-AAC / AAC+ internet streams. The latest version of iTunes (Win/Mac) supports importing audio CDs with the default iTunes standard file format of AAC at 256 kbit/s, but users can choose from 16 kbit/s to 320 kbit/s constant bit rates (CBR) in either AAC or MP3.[citation needed] Importing of audio CDs into MP3 or AAC formats can also be accomplished using variable bitrate (VBR) encoding.
    The Windows version of iTunes can automatically transcode DRM-free WMA (including version 9) files to other audio formats, but does not support playback of WMA files and will not transcode DRM protected WMA files. Telestream, Inc. provides free codecs for Mac users of QuickTime to enable playback of unprotected Windows Media files. These codecs are recommended by Microsoft.[34]
    In addition to importing CDs into the iTunes library, the user can also import non-Apple mp3 files from Amazon.com and other sources. This can be accomplished by either right clicking on the file, selecting open with, and then selecting iTunes or dragging the file into the open iTunes window. Alternatively, for Amazon.com mp3s, the Amazon MP3 Downloader application will automatically import the mp3 files into the iTunes library.

  • What audio format does iTunes convert to and use?

    I got an ipod touch 4 a few months back, and it had to convert many of my songs to a different format. I need to put some songs on a rewritable cd/dvd to work in a cd player. I think it is an MP4 format. We tried it on a rewritable DVD-RW and a CD-R. Neither work. We tried on two different cd players. They act as if nothing was there. I need to know if Mp4 format is the problem and if iTunes can convert it to the right format. I can't find what format it converted my other songs to. Thanks for suggestions!

    iTunes does not convert the audio format unless you ask it to, either by ripping from an audio CD or using the conversion process.  (In iTunes for Windows it also does a conversion when a WMA file is added.) Other than that, it leaves files in the audio format they are in.
    When it does convert, it uses the format that you have selected in the "Import Preferences."  That value defaults to AAC, but also allows selection of MP3,  Apple Lossless, WAV, or AIFF.

  • What paste formats does Acrobat support?

    I have a software program that places formatted RTF and plain text data on the Windows clipboard.  When users of the program try to paste into Acrobat, they get text that has been stripped of all formatting.
    This used to work, and still works perfectly when pasting into Word.
    Has Acrobat eliminated support for RTF pasting?  Does it support an alternate formatted style?  Is there a way to select a clipboard format?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for replying.  I understand that this isn't the standard Acrobat use case, but nevertheless it's one I've seen repeated by hundreds of customers.  They have a PDF, and they want to annotate the PDF with the output of my program.  There are lots of ways to print to PDF and merge, etc., but those are all painful and the users just want something simple and familiar: copy/paste is what they want.
    If there's a better, simpler, way ... by all means, please tell me, since I know little about Acrobat.
    Actually, the ideal thing would be to paste some sort of embedded OLE object you could later click on and edit with my program, but that's probably another thread entirely, for another time.

  • HT3775 What movie format does iMac support?

    How can I watch a movie format in Real Media on my iMac? I tried Windows Media and that did not work on my iMac either.

    Ciao.
    It's an odd format, never was supported well and is clearly vanishing now. There used to be a converter but I haven't seen it since Moses embarked on his trek.

  • What vid format does iPod support? How do I convert mine?

    What video format do movie files have to be in to be played on the iPod? I have avi, mov, mpg, and mpeg from my digital camera and I want to put them on my iPod. What do I do ... and how do I do it? I need an idiot's step by step guide. And if I don't have to pay for any new programs that would be a bonus ... surely I can use something already on my PowerBook?

  • What Audio Formats are Supported?

    Hello.
    This is a pre-sales question. I'm considering purchasing an iPod Shuffle, and have downloaded and read the PDF user's manual for it. I could not find the answer to a question I have.
    What audio formats does the iPod Shuffle support?
    Is .wmv supported? Or just .wav and .mp3?
    Or does it support only a proprietary format?
    Thank you! J. Danniel

    Here is the link which explains about the compatible audio formats for IPod.

  • Creative Zen V Plus - Seeking your help with "Audio format is not supported" error

    Hi,
    I have a problem with my Creative Zen V Plus and am looking for someone to do a quick test to help me. I listen to a lot of MP3 podcasts, so I often rewind, fast forward or set bookmarks inside tracks. When I do those operations in some tracks, I get the error ?Audio format is not supported? when I ?land on certain places in a track (and I am able to reproduce the problem, which happens always at the same place in a particular track).
    Here is what I mean by ?land?. For instance, there is a particular track (see the mp3 link below) that whenever I rewind to exactly 35 min 37 seconds, I get the error ?Audio format is not supported? and playback is stopped. If I fast forward to exactly 35 min 37 seconds, I also get the error. If I set a bookmark to exactly 35 min 37 seconds and I then go to that bookmark, I also get the error. But I don?t get the error if I play the track normally without any rewinding or fast forwarding: the track is played and passes the 35 min 37 seconds mark without any error.
    Creative Labs customer support wants me to return my player for repair, but I am not sure if the problem is with my player or if the problem would also be present on other Zen V Plus, thus my asking for your help.
    I would appreciate if someone of you could try one of my problematic tracks on their player. Here is what you could do to help me:
    1- Download and transfer to your Zen V Plus player the following audio file (it'ss a technology podcast and don?t worry, it'ss virus-free, it comes from CNET):
    http://podcast-files.cnet.com/podcas...oud_090808.mp3
    2- Go to the 35 min and 37 seconds mark, press PAUSE and set a bookmark there.
    3- Go into the Bookmarks menu and go to the bookmark you just set.
    4- Do you see the error ?Audio format is not supported?, or the audio plays just fine? If the audio plays just fine, could you tell me what are the first words you hear
    when going to that bookmark, just so that I am sure we are indeed doing the same test on each of our side?
    5- What firmware version is your player at ?
    Thank you very much for any help you could bring me.
    Patrick

    never mind. figured it out!

  • What audio format encoded into iTunes HD Movies and TV shows?

    What audio format encoded into iTunes HD Movies and TV shows, AC3, 5.1 DolbyDigital? Its been a long long while since I rented an HD movie on ATV since netflix came around with streaming and BD. Now they have rentals and purchases. Anyone know if the purchases play with 5.1 or better audio?

    I think if you pull up the movie in the iTunes store it should tell you. For example, I pulled up the Star Trek movie that came out a few months ago, and it reports "Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound". Clearly you need to make sure that your hardware supports whatever sound configuration the movie employs.

  • In what character format does CS5 Export HTML?

    In what character format does indesign export html?
    I am having trouble writting a parsing script because text that looks like:
    of mutations to particular “hotspot” regions
    becomes, to my chagrin,
    of mutations to particular “hotspot regions
    Here is my java code that simulates this problem. Perhaps somebody knows which encoding to choose on Windows 7 pro x64?
        public static int CopyFile()
            try
            StringBuffer sb = null;
            String NullSpace = System.getProperty("line.separator");
            //Writer output = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(outputFile));
            BufferedWriter output = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(new FileOutputStream(outputFile),"UTF-8"));
            String line;
            BufferedReader input =  new BufferedReader(new FileReader(myFile));
            while((line = input.readLine())!=null)
                    sb = new StringBuffer();
                    //Parsing happens
                    sb.append(line);
                    output.write(sb.toString()+NullSpace);
                return 0;
            catch (Exception e)
                return 1;

    This particular line is the culprit (a case of What You Ask Is What You Get, really a rarity):
    BufferedWriter output = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(new FileOutputStream(outputFile),"UTF-8"));
    -- and what you see is UTF-8 Encoding in action (rather, what you see with a non-UTF-8 aware text editor).
    Check the Javascript Tools Guide, section "File- and Folder-supported encoding names", for an encoding that better suits your needs. Actually, you might want to check the generated HTML file -- UTF8 is a perfectly acceptable character encoding, but you have to tell your browser it is this one.
    Alternatively, you can always check the string buffer text for any character codes (which are Unicodes) above 126 and replace these with the universal "&#xxx;" notation for out-of-range character codes.

    After using iTunes Match, 5 songs have a "was not copied because the audio format is not supported by the iPhone".
    I have deleted these songs and downloaded them from iTunes Match (they were "matched" and not "uploaded" files).  However, it still does not work.

    I have the same issue with 8 songs in my library. All are "Matched" and I've tried deleting them and redownloading them from iTunes Match, but they won't play in iTunes or transfer to any of my iDevices.
