Is there more than on Audio Out on my computer. If so, show diagram of the outputs.

If you can't remember your passcode, you'll have to restore it to remove the passcode, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.
If you're running iOS 7 with Fid My iPod enabled, in order to restore it you'll have to force it into recovery mode as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808, or erased it using Find My iPhone on icloud.com if your home button isn't working (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmfc0ef36f).

What audio interfaces are compatible with the iMac/Intel computer?

I see that MOTU has Intel-compatible drivers for its high-end audio interfaces. Are there any other audio interfaces--USB or Firewire--that are at present compatible with the Intel Duo Core machines that are under $300? I've checked with Tascam and Presonus, and theirs are not yet compatible. I have an inquiry in to M-Audio, but haven't heard back yet.
PS: Does anyone else think it is just a teensy bit dishonest of Apple to be selling audio interfaces in its online store without pointing out explicitly that they don't work on the Intel machines?

Well, it looks like M-Audio's Firewire Solo has a beta driver available for the Duo Core. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. And it's well under $200 at a couple online stores.

Hi I really need help. I was on my brothers laptop and I deleted his audio output an I have no idea what to do? How Do I Get A Sound Device Back On My Dad's Laptop Before My Parents Come Home From Pennsylvania On Wednesday. My Dad's Toshiba Is A Satellite A215-S4807 and its a Vista. I can't go into any drivers because my dad has a password required, plus I'm not really good about figuring about how to work computers, except for email and facebook. Please help me ASAP.

Left headphone audio output is slow as compared to right ear phone

I have Macbook Pro and since last few days left headphone audio output has became very slow as compared to right headphone audio output. I have tried multiple headphones but no luck so its problem with audio jack I think.
Did anyone experience same problem? Kindly please guide.

Power off, power back on holding the following keys before the start up chime.
option, command, P,R (no commas) continue to hold these keys till you hear the start chime 2 times and release.
Reboot, see if this helps.

Audio output with aerender

I'm encountering a strange behavior on CC's aerender that becomes different depending on the presence of ae_render_only_node.txt, even if it's not supposed to.
I've made an example project called test.aep, with a custom output module called "QTAudioOn," with "Audio Output On" to have an audio track every time something gets rendered.
test.w_node.mov is when there was ~/Documents/ae_render_only_node.txt, test.wo_node.mov is when there wasn't. In the same configuration, the yielded files came out different.
test.w_node.mov was missing an audio track, that is supposed to be silent track according to the output module configuration.
It seems test.w_node.mov was created using "Audio Output Auto" output option which was newly introduced with CC. The same process was never a problem with CS6. This problem frustrated me since we concatenate videos in order and merge the audio with other audio track programatically using MP4Box and ffmpeg. Missing audio track scrambles the result video in concatenation process.
Is there any way to fix this problem? Maybe I could make silent track using ffmpeg, but it seems too much.

Edit: test.aep consists of only one red solid object, nothing else.

For those who are interested, here's how to add a silent audio track to rendered video:
$ ffmpeg.exe -f lavfi -i aevalsrc=0,aconvert=s16:stereo -y -i input.mp4 -shortest -c:v copy -c:a aac -b:a 192k -ar 48000 -strict experimental output.mp4

No Headphones Audio Output T440

Hi,
I have a Lenovo T440 running Microsoft Windows 7.
I cannot get any audio output on my headphones. The speakers work just fine. The headphone are in perfect condition and I have tried them on other audio devices. I have also tried to use other headphones just to be sure my primary headphones i not the issue.
The Realtek Control Panel recognizes the headphones as soon as they are inserted into the headphone jack.

I have the latest Realtek Drivers and client control panel installed. I have selected headphones from the Realtek Control panel.

When I click the play button for the test, I get no audio output.
I have tried to uninstall the sound card from System>Device Manager, reboot, reconfigure the sound card, reboot again and still no audio. Device Driver Infromation is as follow:

Classic mode should make the headphones option disappear as it autoswitches on attach.
Try a bootable Linux live environment; if it doesn't work there, you might have a damaged headphone jack.

I have lost all audio output

I don't know what has happened, but I can't get any audio out from Soundtrack Pro anymore.
Even if I open previous projects, and try different audio outputs such as Built-in Out, Built in Line Out or my MOTU 828MK2, there's no audio, even though the meters show audio signal.
It worked a month ago, but even the projects I did one month ago are now silent.
In Final Cut Pro I have no problems getting the audio (thru my 828MK2) but when I switch to Soundtrack there's no sound.
I would have assumed they all use the same Audio/Midi setup?

go to settings, general, sounds, and check the volume. if the sound there is full blast, try going to settings, music, volume limit, and make sure that's turned off. now if that fails to work, try reseting the ipod by holding down the home button and the sleep/wake button at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen. if that doesn't work restore your ipod on itunes.

Without headphones, Audio might start working again briefly from time to time, but most the time it doesn't. Any ideas on what is wrong with it and how to fix it?
my iPad is a 3rd gen, 16GB wifi only model, if that helps

iOS 8 isn't even out yet. If you are running iOS 8, I assume you are a developer and if you are, you are in the wrong forum to try to get help. If you are not a developer and you're running iOS 8, maybe that's why you are having problems on the iPad.

The type that I made bold doesn't make sense. Is this a typo and you mean that " headphones are not in"?

And you know they are incorrect because you get sound here and there from time to time? That fact doesn't prove that something isn't working correctly inside. You could very well have a bad connection inside the device causing this, but somehow you seem to know that's not the case.

Audio outputs on VMS. What kind?

I left fios a few months ago due to cost, but just got an offer to come back at a really good deal.
I am able to get the new media server, but have a question about the audio output.
Is there only an optical output or both an optical or coax audio?

You are using the word "coax"; there is absolutely NO coax audio output on the VMS1100 server box. there IS, however, a Digital Audio (RCA)* connector present on the VMS1100. But notice the * present on that title; in the Arris VMS1100 Installation and Operation Manual there is the following line after the pictorial of the back of the box:
"*This option is dependent upon application setting and availability in content."
Now I have no way to know whether Verizon has chosen to activate that connection or not because I have no reason to use it, but note in the following pictorial that there are several connectors that have the * in their description, and we know that, at least for now, some of them are not activated.
So yes, I guess there is a connector present on the sever that would work for you (if it is active) that is missing on the clients. Seems a little strange to me that Arris would design things that way, but not much any of us can do about it.
Unless you need that RCA audio connection on multiple boxes, why not just put the server where you need that connection and put the clients in the other locations? Wouldn't that work? I have my server in my office, but really there is no reason why it could not be in the game room or the bedroom.

Do I have to use the same Audio Output and Input source???

In logic express 7.2.3 I can get everything to work fine except when I want to set my sound output to be different than the input device.
I want the Audio Input to be : "Roland USB device"
I want the Audio Output to be "Built in Output"
This works perfectly in Garage Band but not in LogicExpress 7.
As far as I can tell core audio in Logic only gives you the option to use the same device for input and ouput. This makes it impossible for me to record guitar or bass parts in Logic because in order to hear anything in Logic I have to set my systems sounds prefs to use my USB device for both Audio In and Out. This means the guitar is playing through my speakers regardless if LE7 is running or not... and when it is running I hear the guitar at speaker level which means I can't hear it at mix level or any of the effects that may be applied to it.

Thanks... I did that but and it works (sort of ) but now there is a HUGE amount of latency. The audio also starts to crackle after a while. I know this input device is a few years old and the latency could be better but it works completely fine with Garage Band so I'm not sure what to do.

Right click your volume icon in the notification area and select "volume control options". From there, you should be able to select the external speakers.

Is there a way to have Firefox respect the default audio output device when it has been changed while Firefox is open?

I have been a Firefox user for many years and I still use it as my primary browser. One problem that has bothered me for years is the fact that when Firefox is open and I change my default audio output device, Firefox doesn't respect that change and continues playing audio through the device that was originally being used. Even if you stop the audio and continue playing, the output device doesn't change.
Is there any way this can be configured in Firefox? Now if I listen to music online (e.g. Soundcloud) I always use Chrome since it's respects the default audio output device change even while in the middle of playing audio.
Reproduce:
1. Start playing audio (e.g. from a YouTube video; HTML5 and Flash are affected)
2. Change your default audio output device
3. Audio will continue to play from original output device

This is the same issue that has plagued me for years. I always thought that this was a Flash plugin issue, but it does occur on HTML5 as well. A friend of mine verified that this does not occur in Linux, but only on Windows. It would be great to have this fixed, as it's honestly the only thing that's making me use Chrome all the time, as I don't want to have multiple browsers open.

I recently downloaded the latest OS update and now I have a constant "humming" noise from my MBP and my audio output is no longer working. Any suggestions?

I recently downloaded the lastest OS update (Lion X 10.7.4) on my MBP that I purchased in November of 2011, and since downloading it my MBP has been making a constant "humming" noise from the right speaker/disc drive area. I also don't have any audio output for FaceTime or Skype. I attempted to use Photo Booth to record a video and it doesn't record any audio. I attempted to reset SMC and reinstall Lion with no resolution of the problems.

Click the Finder icon on the Dock.
Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
Built-in-Output
Output tab
Move the Master volume slider to the right a bit.
