What battery to buy?

Seems simple enough, but I am not sure which replacement battery I need to order for my MBP 17. The online store has two batteries listed for the MBP 17. The model number on my battery says A1189. I have not been able to find the model numbers for the two batteries listed in the Apple store. Please help me avoid restocking fees and return shipping costs and tell me which one is the correct one to order. Thanks.

Call the online Apple store & ask them. Their sales help will be more than happy to help you.

  • What battery type for Tungsten E2?

    1) Could someone tell me what battery I need for the Tungsten E2; mine depletes quickly and is now on electrical charge.
    2) How mch time do I have to replace it when in the process of battery exchange?. Have Hot synced data to computer, but hope not to lose it on Palm during the process..
            Thanks so mch. MC
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Your Palm has flash memory, that means that when he battery dies or is disconnected, you won't lose your data. Basically, you have eternity to replace it.
As for battery type, you can get one at usedpdaparts.com, eBay or amazon.com under "tungsten e2 battery." (Keep in mind they come in slightly different capacities, the stock one, the high capacity one etc (1050 mAh, 1100 mAh, etc.) Another idea is to buy a decent condition e2 or model with a compatible battery and swap it in. I noticed that an entire PDA seems to be more cost effective than buying individual parts, but thats just my experience.
webosnation.com is another option for help.

  • What would you buy if you would you have to return...

2 days ago my N97 stopped working, I had to turned off for some reason, and  when I turned it on the screen was frozen. (Nokia logo)
I was so afraid of sending my phone out for repair, with the possibility of getting a new N97 and lose all my apps from the OVI store + all the information that I have on my phone.    lucky me, after attemping 10 more times, my phone worked.
It came through my mind the possibility of getting a new phone, but wich one?, Iphone, HTC, Omnia, Android phone? Lets face it,  there is no phone in the market with all the capabilities than the N97 has. No phone gets even closer:
    - Memory capacity
    - FM transmiter
    - Widgets
    - FM Radio
    - Great resolution when you watch movies
    - 5MP camera
    - REAL MULTITASK phone ( over 8 apps open and no issues at all )
    - etc
This morning I updated my phone to the new firmware (2.0XXX), IMHO I would say the firmware is not a mayor improvement, still some bugs to be fixed but, it runs a bit faster. C memory still the same and some other stuff that we all know the phone still has. So, What would you buy, if you have to return your N97?
For me, maybe I will switch to Android OS when my N97 gets obsolete.

Anything new with WINmo 6.5 or some of the new Android phones coming out:
    - Memory capacity - N97 has NO MEMORY, the MINI has double the RAM.  Think about that!
    - FM transmiter - Works at a range of 2 feet - a cable would be better anyway into the car stereo
    - Widgets - are you kidding me?????
    - FM Radio - yeah sure that is good, but whatever
    - Great resolution when you watch movies - no h264 on the n97 mate, sure most other phones do this fine, my HP Ipaq from 2001 plays more movies than the n97 (it has skype as well!!)
    - 5MP camera - yeah until it is scratched
-REAL MULTITASK phone - WINmo can do it, Android can do it, even the pre can do it....
I feel hooped for getting the N97, everything is there, but nothing works as it should.  Thankfully since this AM i dont have any out of memory errors, but I am sure they will return just when I don't need them to.
At this point anything is better - to be honest, I've had my eyes on the n900 - but unless Nokia fixes my n97, i wont throw them another dime so long as I live, nor will I allow the 30 people i have sent Nokias way to get another one.
    Fix.  My.  Phone.
I love my purple screen, 1/2 day battery, sketchy touch screen and $800 price tag - I call it my Lumia 900

  • What do i buy to hook up my ibook....

what do i buy to hook up my ibook g4 into my tv using the A/V plug??
do i hook up the --(Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter) to my ibook then hook up the --(Apple AV Cable for iBook) to the adapter??....
    thanks for the help...

You need to use the Apple Video Adapter M9109G/A to get a video signal.
Then you just need a male-to-male video patch cable to connect the adapter to your TV.

  • HELP! I need some help from true Mac fans! What should I buy???

So, I'm moving to Japan, which has a couple of implications (other than the fact that my wife's parents and my parents are looking for any legal recourse to stop us from taking their only grandchild out of the country). More importantly however, I have had to sell my B&O TV and music system (different signals from the UK where we now live). I also decided to sell our stereo (or rather my wife decided it was too bulky so as long as it was not in the living room or bedroom I could keep it...). Finally, I need a new laptop for personal use. I have some friends that are absolute mac fans, who have convinced me to go over to the other side (i.e. yours).
The opportunity I now have is to create a complete system as I need a laptop, something to play my music, a TV, etc. Given I am starting from a clean sheet I was hoping somebody out there could help me 'design' a complete set-up. My wife and I are keen photographers (both photography and video), we like listening to music, and watching movies (we definitely need a region-free DVD player), so what should we buy?
Any input would be hugely appreciated.

OSX also supports IME right out of the box.
    日本語 ー わかりません
It sets up pretty well, too; I like it more than Mircrosoft's implementation (language bar).
Only thing to keep in mind is where you buy the MacBook; if you get it in Japan you'll get a Japanese keyboard, which displays most of the kana alongside the keys. You also get the conversion and switch keys on the keyboard itself, which is great.
The MacBook Power Unit is multi-voltage, so no matter where you pick it up the worst you need is a plug adapter; although getting one from apple would be best. Just don't think you need to buy a new power unit, only the plug and cable.

You need a newer 2011 or later iMac to use Airplay.
    Sorry.
For older Mac, look at an app called AirParrot

You can sync photos and videos to your iPad via your computer's iTunes.
To sync photos, connect and select your iPad on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac), and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
If the videos are films that you want to go into the Videos app then you first need to add them to your computer's iTunes library via File > Add To Library, and you can then use the Films/Movies tab to select and sync them
Syncing media : iTunes: Syncing media content to iPod
What format are the videos in that you want to download, and have you got an app on your iPad that supports that format ?

Here's the one I love, the Altec Lansing iM 237. Don't be put off by the small size or cheap price. I have two, one for home and one for my studio/travel.

  • What camera to buy for taking close pictures of coins in mint state condition????

    hi
what camera to buy for taking close pictures of coins in mint state condition????uncirculated coins ??

The camera is not so much of an issue here as making sure that you get the right glass(lens) .
Both Nikon and Canon have specialty lenses to allow Macro (1:1 or lifesize or greater magnification) images to be made.
I would also recommend that you get a good tripod and focusing rails to mount your camera on as most macro photography is best done using manual focus and moving the camera.  This is due to the fact that macro lenses have a very shallow depth of field.
If you don't want to go to this extreme, then at least get a small sturdy tripod and always use a remote shutter release.
All of this is related to DSLR's.
If you want to go the PnS route, then look for one that emphasizes its macro capability and again, use a tripod.  Again, the lens is the most important item here.
Actually, no - lens is not the most important - coins are highly reflective and as a result VERY difficult to light properly - the lighting equipment is going to be the most important.
Lens will be second most important - you can probably do fine for coin photography with one of the common pseudo-macro lenses that only do 1:2 and not 1:1.  However a true 1:1 macro lens will give you the most flexibility.
Since the lighting equipment is the most important, the key here is going to be that the camera has support for an external flash.  This is guaranteed for an SLR but rare in P&S cameras.

  • Macbook Reinstall.  No Disk.  What disk to buy?

    Hi,
Just bought a Macbook from my boss at work. He told me he could not find the disks for the laptop. I would really like to buy some Install disks for os x. I currently have 10.6.5 running. What I would like to know is what disks to buy. I see the apple store sells some disks but when I read about them it just says things about upgrading. I want to do a fresh install. I also have hardrive issues when I go to partition. I was told the install disks would fix this. Can someone point me in the right direction as to what disks I need to buy? A link would be cool. Thank you in advance.

You should be able to use the $29 retail Snow Leopard (10.6) disk from the Apple Store or from Best Buy. However, that will include just the system, while the disks that shipped with the machine will also contain bundled apps, like iLife, and an appropriate [Apple Hardware Test|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509] boot system for your machine. You can contact Apple to replace those disks for a small fee ($10? not entirely sure).

  • I've read that Promise Pegasus2 series does not sell replacement parts. I'm buying the new MacPro but am concerned about spending $2K for storage that may break and cannot be fixed. What are others buying for storage for the new MacPro?

I've read that Promise Pegasus2 R6 thunderbolt 2 series does not sell replacement parts (no replacement parts for any of the Pegasus line). I'm buying the new MacPro but am concerned about spending $2K for storage (12tb version) that may break and cannot be fixed (am told that one must purchase a new unit if a part breaks). What are others buying for storage for the new MacPro? Thanks so much for your help.
Discussion about this issue at MacWorld.com:  http://www.macworld.com/article/2082783/first-look-promises-pegasus2-r6-thunderb olt-2-raid-array.html

I've used the original Pegasus R6 units for a couple of years now and have been very pleased with them.  On the two occasions I've had to call on their technical sujpport, I've found them readily available, knowledgeable, and very helpful.  In one case it involved the reset of a unit after a power failure at an inopportune time; in the other case it was a question about upgrading disk drives to higher capacities (1 Gb gto 4 Gb).  I was pleased to learn that their tech support people were in California and as good if not better than upper-tier AppleCare reps. The hardware itself has functioned flawlessly so far.

Be aware that you do not need to purchase SmartNET for your APs.
    Thanks for the ratings, Marek.
Be aware that nearly all 802.11n APs (some exclusion to AP1250) are covered under the new Cisco Limited Lifetime Warranty.  Read through the link provided.  This is why I posted that you do not need maintenance contract for the APs.  The main thing to understand is that if you need to RMA your AP, it'll take 10-business days for the replacement part to be sent.
I have spoken to some Cisco Authorized Reseller and some Cisco TAC engineers who insist that the Cisco LLW don't exist or doesn't apply to BLAH model.  Don't be fooled.
