What browser(s) (besides Safari) support Photocasts?

I recently created a slide show in Keynote and exported it as an image file. I subsequently converted it to a Photocast and published it on my .mac account. When I logged on, I was stunned by the spectacular resolution of the slide show, and pleasantly surprised by the music that it added. As you might expect, I'd like anyone and everyone to access this file, including those who don't own Apple hardware. Predictably enough, when I tried to access it at work using Internet Explorer, I was greeted with a terse message that announced that IE "does not support Photocasts" (surprise!) Are there any browsers out there that incorporate a plug-in that would permit PC users to view photocasts? I've already converted the slide show into a QuickTime-playable movie, but the size of that file (192 megs) is prohibitively large. I'd be delighted if Mozilla's Firefox, for example, would support it. Has anyone out there encountered, and solved, this problem?

I found this on a MacRumors.com forum:
"can anyone suggest a very simple pc browser or other program that can work with a photocast rss feed? my parent (60+ years old) dont have a mac (yet...) and i would love to give them access to our photocasts of our kids.
The Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com) browser works, but it loads it essentially as a 'bookmark folder', where you have to pick each individual picture one at a time from the bookmark list. If you try to go to the RSS file directly, Firefox asks you to save it. You have to add the link as a 'Live Bookmark'.
THe Sage (http://sage.mozdev.org) plugin for Firefox makes RSS feeds a lot nicer, in that it will display the individual 'articles' in a grid in the main browser window (which means showing thumbnails of ALL of the photos in a photocast.) You add it by going to the 'Manage Feed List' option, and adding a new Bookmark.
The thing to remember is that iPhoto gives you a url that says 'photocast.mac.com', but to get it to work in anything other than iPhoto, you need to use 'web.mac.com'. So just edit the URL it gives you to say web.mac.com instead of photocast.mac.com, and it'll work great. (If you try going to 'photocast.mac.com/...', .Mac itself will give an error page saying that your browser doesn't support proper photocasts, and has the 'correct' web.mac.com URL listed at the bottom. But it's not a link, you need to copy and paste it.
So, for example, let's say Steve Jobs has a feed called 'keynote'. iPhoto will tell you the URL is http://photocast.mac.com/steve/iPhoto/keynote/index.rss You really want to use http://web.mac.com/steve/iPhoto/keynote/index.rss (Please note that I made these up. They are fake, and do not exist.)"
Maybe a PC user can confirm or deny.

My new ipod classic does not work anymore! The music stopped and the display is dead. What now, besides calling support? Useless to say my PC didn't recognize the Ipod anymore either.

Anton, I wish I could help. I had an old iPod Classic (60 KB) as a gift but it went dead, I dropped it a few times accidentally, and it sat carefully saved until I had sufficient resources, energy and time to get the matter addressed. In my case, I actually took the thing (after making sure it was charged) to an Apple store and one of the geniuses at the genius bar at the back of the store took it and did a few things (unseen and un-noted) with his fingers and handed it to me with a sly smile. Voila, the thing was functional. I got a re-functionalized iTunes account and store access when I bought my iMac. I did lose a few tunes along the way because it didn't recognize my new iMac as the source (my old dead PC laptop), but I have a more functional memory than the iPod and recovered them all in other ways. The whole thing is humming better than ever. At over 11 gb full, I have 4.2 days worth of portable listening. Be patient; it took me four years to get musical nirvana in a pocket, but you'll get there faster. Call support.

  • When i edit my Pages in iCloud on a windows Machine it says not supported Browser.(Using Safari)

When i tried to edit my iWorks on iCloud on Windows 7 machine, on Safari browser, it said not supported browser.
I downloaded the Safari for Apple Website.
    Version of safari is 5.1.7.
Can anyone help me on this.
    Thanks.

Safari for Windows is not supported (or developed any more). You should use Internet Explorer 9.0.8 or later.
    See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5436
Even on a Mac, you need Safari 6.0.3 or later, not Safari 5.

  • WHAT THE MEANING OF THIS LINE Sorry, your browser/program is not supported by Web Dynpro

Sorry, your browser/program is not supported by Web Dynpro pls tell me whats the meaning of above line

You might try spoofing '''IE7''' User Agent strings to make a wepage or web-based application "think" you're running IE7.

  • What to when my browser/program is not supported by Web dynpro

when i tried to open a link in the website i am using I get
this message : your browser/program is not supported by
Web dynpro - this happened after I updated firefox today -
    what to do ???

Did this start when you installed Firefox 4?? Many web applications use browser version numbers for compatibility checks. Even if they actually would run just fine in a newer version. I suggest checking with your internal IT on whether this is a known issue for that application.
If the site previously worked with Firefox 4, maybe they changed something, or maybe you installed a new add-on that is causing a conflict?

  • What version of firefox will support mp4 video tags without plug ins or extensions?

I have a web site that my users upload mp4 videos to my website. I use html 5 and use the video tags type movie/mp4.
The only browser that has worked without any add ins, plug ins or extensions is safari 4.x and safari 5.x with quicktime. What version of firefox will support playing mp4 videos without any add ins or extensions?

That will probably not happen if there are codecs used that require a license.

  • Constant browser hanging/crashing (Safari, Firefox, and Camino)

    Hello everyone.
Lately my browser has been hanging/crashing on multiple websites. It doesn't matter what browser I use which is the odd thing! A browser always crashes at around the same time (about a second or two into loading). I am constantly force-quitting browsers and restarting them. I feel like it has something to do with Flash because the crashes occur whenever I visit Youtube, Myspace music pages or other sites with Flash applets on them (such as my blog where I have embedded videos).
Here are a bunch of sites my browser hangs on. Maybe you can find something in common with them all?
    http://www.myspace.com/bbeyke
    http://www.youtube.com
    http://justinmarclloyd.blogspot.com
And of course, everything runs smoothly when visiting sites with basic HTML, Javascript, etc. I can search Google, use Wikipedia, use Flickr, go to my website at http://justinmarclloyd.com, go to my business website at http://www.theblacksea.org, browse apple.com, use this forum, etc.
I've tried updating and reinstalling adobe flash player, restarting my computer, repairing permissions, using software update, etc. Restarting actually temporarily fixed the problem but within a few hours of browsing, it started happening again.
    Any ideas?!
EDIT: I was able to go to http://video.google.com/ and successfully watch videos there. Now I'm even more confused.

    HI,
Try resetting Safari. From the Menu Bar, click Safari/Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
If that doesn't help, try Open DNS Click the computer icon and follow the instructions.
Also try deleting this file. com.apple.safari.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac.
Go here for information on background maintenance.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2319?viewlocale=en_US
Make sure you have available disk space. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.
If none of the above helps, post the most recent crash log.
How to locate a crash log:
    1. Open Finder.
    2. Click "Go" in the menu, then select "Go to Folder".
    3. Copy and paste this path into the Finder dialog:
~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/
    4. Click the Go button.
    5. Finder opens the folder containing the crash log. Look for a the crash file with a date field that looks like the most recent.

  • Problem with Flash videos. They are only display in "Private Browsing" mode, in Safari 5.1.7

The symptoms is: The flash videos are only display with a full red bar and nothing happen, no video no sound nothing. The Flash player was upgrade with 11.2.202.235. before safari 5.1.7. I have an iMac with SL, and a Macbook with SL too. However after I upgraded safari 5.1.7 the flash videos are not display correctly, (only videos). The same happen in both computers.
I need to tell you that I follow all the possible recommendations that I founded in internent. I uninstall flash pug-in many times. I restore both. I switch many buttons and options like "reset safari", "empty cahe", "block pop-up windows", "enable java-script", "enable java". I turn off and on the firewall. I switch all the options in the flash player plug in preferences. And nothing. I turn on and off the plug ins. In fact I tried all the possibilities in the preferences menus from the programs.
In one occasion I had a glimpse of functionality for only one hour without problems after I reinstall safari from the Apple website, but only worked until I turned off the computer. The next day was the same problem.
After I fought with safari 5.1.7 and the plug-in flash player 11.2.202.235. Now I noticed something wired, only when I switch the "Private browsing" option in safari is when the videos are displayed correctly.
The same videos work perfectly in Firefox.
    Some Suggestions?

Thank you everybody, the problem was corrected in a unexpected way, I decided no to pay attention to the problem after a week fighting with that. I was navigating in a private browsing for two days. I turned the private browsing off again the next Monday, after a week I noticed that all the videos were display correctly, I do not have the problem again. That was wired because at the same time in the laptop everything is ok too. I have my extensions ON, Block Pop-up windows, In Flash payer all the options in ask....something. Only the option Disable Java script in not activated, only when I activate that option all videos are not display.
I think maybe I updated the computer and maybe something happened in the middle. I always update my imac and my macbook at the same time. There is a Flash removal security update in may 14. Maybe that fixed the problem.
Thanks to everybody, everything is ok now however I wanted to know what was the problem.

  • Adobe Air Browser (HTMLLoader) Doesn't Support HTML5

Is there any way to replace the HTMLLoader that is in the Adobe Air SDK with one of the native browsers on the user's system?
In my Air app, there is an inline browser that loads content from a website that looks and works fine in native IE, Safari, Firefox, or Chrome... But the Air browser apparently doesn't support local storage... And the page I try to load inline requires that support.

Unforunately, not with HTMLLoader but you can with StageWebView by passing in true in the constructor.
