What cable do I need to connect my Macbook to my tv to watch netflix, What cable do I need to connect my Macbook to my tv to watch netflix
I would like to link my MacBook up with my HD tv to watch netflix, for example. How do I do this?
The model 5,2 has a Mini-DVI port. You'll need a Mini-DVI adapter and a cable from that to your TV Here's the various types of Mini-DVI adapters on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_16?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field -keywords=mini-dvi+to+hdmi&sprefix=mini-dvi+to+hdmi%2Ccomputers%2C287
When you connect the MacBook using a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo system for audio if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini-DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. If you do have an audio input for one of the HDMI plugs on your TV you run an audio cord from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate input plugs on your TV

Many times my computer takes too long to connect to new website. I have wireless internet (time capsule) and I am running a pretty powerful real time financial work program at same time, what is the best solution? Upgrading speed from cable network? is it a hard drive issue? do I only need to "clean out" the computer? Or all of the above...not to computer saavy. It is a Macbook Pro osx 10.6.8 (late 2010).
Almost certainly none of the above! Try each of the following in this order:
Select 'Reset Safari' from the Safari menu.
Close down Safari; move <home>/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db to the trash; restart Safari.
Change the DNS servers in your network settings to use the OpenDNS servers: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
Turn off DNS pre-fetching by entering the following command in Terminal and restarting Safari:
defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false -
What is the exact name of the cable I need to connect my old hard drive from my macbook pro, which has been removed from the computer, to my new macbook pro? I need to transfere files from the old hard drive to the new computer.
No eSATA to USB. Just a SATA/IDE to USB adapter. Google SATA/IDE to USB adapter and you will get tons of links to buy them. Most likely your local computer electronics store has them, although they might be more expensive buying locally than online.
I have several. You can get either USB 2, which what I recommend, or USB 3. USB is backward compatible so a USB 3 adapter will work on a USB 2 port and a USB 2 adapter will work on a USB 3 port. Backward compatible in both directions.
I suggest a USB 2 type because there have been some problems with certain USB 3 devices, the USB 3 interface used isn't all that good in those certain devices. USB 3 is still fairly new where as USB 2 has been around for over 10 years.

I have OS 10.8.2 and use wireless at home just fine.
When I visit a friend with only a cable modem internet my Mac Book Pro will not connect.
I see that the Mac Book Pro is picking up the internet when I check the internet preference section but it will not open Safari.
What do I need to do connect via a cable modem? You need to power off the modem for 15-30 seconds, then power back up and then connect. The modem is remembering the last connection (your friend).

I am trying to connect my MacBook Pro (early 2011 w/ Intel HD 3000/ 384Mb) to an external display with a 2560x1440 resolution. Specifically, what cable/connections do I need to display at this resolution? I cannot get the display to work using a "Thunderbolt to HDMI" or a "Thunderbolt to DVI" connector. Note: I used both older and newer (uni-directional) HDMI cables on the first config, and a Dual-link DVI cable on the second config. Apple specs state this is possible ( support.apple.com/kb/SP619 ), but I am at a loss as to how this can be done. Thanks in advance for the help!
You use a Mini DisplayPort to either HDMI or dual-link DVI adapter. If that component doesn't work, something's wrong with either the cable or something else in the connection.

Hello--
I'm trying to figure out how to connect my 15" MacPro Book from early 2008 to a Sony flat screen TV monitor. I've been told I need a "Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter" and a "HDMI to HDMI" cable, but I've also been reading that some cables only work with 2010 & 2011 laptops and that I may need additional cable/hardware to obtain audio. Could someone advise me on exactly what products I need to purchase?
Thank you!Which MacBook Pro 15" do you have?
With the silver keyboard (Early 2008)) or that one with a black keyboard (Late 2008)?
If you habe the Late 2008 you can use a miniDisplay Port + Audio to HDMI like that one (stereo sound) or that one (5.1).
If you have the Early 2008, it's not so easy, because you need a DVI + Audio to HDMI like that one (the Audio Channels had to be converted to Coaxial!) So much more adapters! Maybe there is a manufaturer which has the all in one solution)
Both MacBook Pro DOESN'T support audio on the video output! The later ones (Mid 2010 and later) supports Audio output within the miniDisplay Port. -

What type of cable do I need to connect my mac to the TV.
I have a Dynex tv and a newish 15 inch Macbook Pro. I also already have an HDMI cable that fits into the TV so I just need to know what to get to connect the HDMI cable to the macbook.
You would connect the MacBook using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. Here's the various types of Mini DisplayPort adapters on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13#/ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_2_16?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=mini+ displayport&sprefix=mini+displayport&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amini+displayport
If it's a post 2010 MacBook Pro it will carry audio through the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. If it's an earlier than Mid 2010 MacBook pro then it can't send audio through the adapter. -
what cables do I need to connect my 2013 macbook pro to my HD tv? I know I need mini display to HDMI, but male? female HDMI??? and also, do I need a separate cable for sound?
Actually you need a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter. It will carry both audio and video.
This one will work: Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI® Adapter w/ Audio Support -
I want to use the VIZIO large-screen TV mounted on the wall of my classroom to mirror the screen on my new MacBook Pro.
I am already mirroring my iPad 2 with GREAT results using AppleTV. Using the HD Note Taker App is a dream.
Graphing calculator apps are brilliant, too. ( I teach Precalculus and AP Calculus)
But now I need to be able to do new things that cannot be done on the iPad. What cables and/or adaptors do I need so that the
flat-screen TV becomes a another monitor? You need a MiniDisplay port to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable. The MDP adapter plugs into the Thunderbolt port.

When you first connect, it will default to "extended desktop mode". To mirror, press CMD F1 or set mirror mode in System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement tab

What cables do I need to connect MacBook Pro to the TV VGA port
Nov 6, 2014 7:01 PM
Hi,
The HDMI port on my Maxent tv is not working. I am hoping to connect my MacBook Pro to the TV via the VGA port on the TV to watch Netflix and movies. What cables do I need that will connect to a VGA port on a TV from my MacBook Pro (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)? And will that cable support audio or will I need a separate audio cable?
Thanks-
Sheri
OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)Hey Sheri Lynn,
Thanks for the question. Our online store has a helpful tool that should guide you through the process of picking the best adapter for your MacBook model. You can check it out here:
Get help choosing Mac video adapters - Apple Store (U.S.)
http://store.apple.com/us/mac/mac-accessories/cables/cable-chooser#!
If you are connecting via VGA you will need a separate audio cable if your TV supports it.
Thanks,

What cable do I need to connect my 27 inch iMac to my Cinema Display
What cable do I need to connect my 27 inch iMac to my Cinema Display to have two displays?
It depends on what type(s) of video input you have on your TV. If you've an open HDMI port on your TV, you can use a Thunderbolt (Mini DisplayPort) to HDMI adapter and it will carry the sound also. See -> here.
Good luck,

What cable do I need to connect my sony video camcorder to my macpro
I need to purchase a firewire cable that will connect my Sony min tape camcorder to my Mac Pro laptop and I am not sure what to get.
Look at your Sony camera or read the instructions for same. It probably will be a mini USB connector. If it is, you will need a mini USB/USB wire.
Ciao.
