What cables do I need to hook up my vcr to a minidv

Hi, I want to take my home videos (currently on vhs tapes) and transfer them to my mac mini computer so I can create dvds using imovie and idvd. I have the Sony DCR HC32 minidv (that has the "pass-through" feature). What cables do I need in order to hook my vcr up to the minidv, and what cables do I need to hook my minidv up to my computer? Thanks.

VCR to Digital Camcorder using whatever the highest input interface the camcorder has in common with the VCR (be it S-Video, etc.).
You need a FireWire cable to connect the Camcorder to Mini most likely if its a Sony unit. Check the manual. You will need a Mini-FireWire (probably 4-pin) to 6-pin adapter (this side plugs into your apple mini).
That should do it, most likely iMovie will detect the Camcorder and start sucking down video.

It depends on what Mac you have and what version of iMovie. You may need to use Firewire.

I am purchasing my new MacBook air tommorow and I just want to know what cable I need to buy to hook-up my MacBook air to my HDTV, preferably using the HDMI connection if possible.

You'll need to purchase a MiniDisplay Port to HDMI adapter. Apple does not make one, but many retail stores carry an aftermarket one from Moshi.

There are other ones, much cheaper ones.

  • What cable do I need to hook up a mac pro to a composite tv?

I have a newer version of the Mac Pro that has the Thunderbolt connection. I want to connect my laptop to an older tv that contains composite inputs. What type of cable do I need? I already have the thunderbolt-->VGA adapter, however, the TV does NOT have a VGA input, only composite cable inputs. Is there a VGA to composite video split cables available?

minidisplayport to composite video adapters do exist.

  • If I have an American MacBook from 2009, what cables do I need to hook it up to an English tv?

I have a MacBook from late 2009. I want to show my videos on iMovie in England to family but I have an American computer. Which cables do I need to connect my American computer to an English tv?

    Hi,
You don't need any special cables to connect. You can use either VGA, DVI or HDMI cables they will work absolutely fine. There's no difference between an American and a British MacBook

  • What cables do I need to hook up iMac i7 to digital audio receiver.

Just bought a new iMac Quad i7 and expect delivery in two weeks. I would like to hook it up to my audio receiver so I can watch DVDs with full 5.1 Digital Surround. The receiver has optical/digital inputs.
The guys at the Apple store seemed clueless.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Hello artandink
You will need a 3.5mm Toslink Adapter or a Toslink cable with a 3.5mm end to plug into the iMac's Audio Output Port.
The Toslink cable from the Apple Store has a 3.5mm Adapter to Toslink included:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/TL955LL/A
The one from OWC already has a 3.5mm on one end for the iMac's:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/CBLAOPTMT/
Some do not and you'll have to order the 3.5mm Adapter separately:

Can I hook my iPhone 3 up to my tv and watch movies and videos? If so what cables do I need?

I've done this before. First, I had the current acct owner call in and say it's okay for me to assume liability on the line. Next, I called in and explained that the owner already called and gave permission for me to assume the line. Notes were on the account. I was transferred to the assumption of liability dept, I accepted the terms and conditions and we were good to go. The old owner will get a final bill up until the point of transfer and you will get a new bill starting at the point of transfer.

  • What cable do i need to connect my macbook pro to the hdmi input on my tv?.

what cable do i need to connect my macbook pro to the hdmi input on my tv?.

    hi Sam
It's actally an HDMI adapter that Apple sells.
You hook the small adapter up to your MBP and then HDMI cable to your TV. Please note adapter is for HDMI compliant for HDMI rev 1.3 and above:
My TV, which has DVI port also, besides HDMI gets its best resolution by DVI of which also sell at Apple store for the MBP.
Bottom line is check w/ your TV manufacture to be sure your flat screen supports 1920 X 1200.
    Let 'er rip and...
    cheers

  • What cables do I need to record a tape cassette onto my hard drive?

I want to record vinyl records and tape cassettes to my mac.  I know I can use the quicktime player,
but what type of cables do I need to hook up to the in line on my mac?

Tape cassettes - easiest way is tape machine headphone jack to Mac Line in socket with a standard mini phono plug (3.5mm)
Vinyl records - depends on the player. Most ordinary record players will need a pre-amp to use with the line-in socket. Cables required will be dictated by the particular equipment.
You can get USB record decks built for the purpose.
QuickTime will do the job, but I use Audacity for more versatility with editing, noise reduction etc.
    (It's free)

  • What cords do I need to hook up my mac book pro to a Toshiba 32 T.V.

I'm trying to find out if anyone can help me with finding out what accessories I might need to hook up my mac to my toshiba 32 T.V. I could probably use a little guidence when it comes to istallation as well.

Assuming you have a recent MBP, i.e. purchased new in the last couple of years, and that your TV is modern one with HDMI inputs then you need a mini-displayport to HDMI cable.  Apple have one:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/H7128ZM/A/mini-displayport-to-hdmi-cable-2m?fn ode=MTY1NDA3Ng&s=topSellers
Installation involves connecting up the cable, then it's pretty much plug-and-play. The MBP should auto-detect your TV and you're good to go!

    thanks!

you need a mini-dvi to vga adapter to connect to the first cable you have pictured. A mini DVI to video adapter will work with the other which looks to be an S-video cable.
The minii dvi to vga should do the trick

  • What cables do I need to connect MacBook Pro to the TV VGA port

    Nov 6, 2014 7:01 PM
    Hi,
The HDMI port on my Maxent tv is not working.  I am hoping to connect my MacBook Pro to the TV via the VGA port on the TV to watch Netflix and movies.  What cables do I need that will connect to a VGA port on a TV from my MacBook Pro (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)?  And will that cable support audio or will I need a separate audio cable?
    Thanks-
    Sheri
    OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

    Hey Sheri Lynn,
Thanks for the question. Our online store has a helpful tool that should guide you through the process of picking the best adapter for your MacBook model. You can check it out here:
Get help choosing Mac video adapters - Apple Store (U.S.)
    http://store.apple.com/us/mac/mac-accessories/cables/cable-chooser#!
If you are connecting via VGA you will need a separate audio cable if your TV supports it.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
