MY mum is a pensioner and has been bamboozled into taking up BT. She was told that it would cost her less than her current package. However she was NOT told about the line rental, she was NOT told about the delivery charges, she was NOT told about the service enactment fee for a television package that was not needed. She tried to cancel but was told that there was a £500 fee!!! Where is the cooling off period? How can she get out of this because she will be paying more than her previous supplier!
If you think that she was mis-sold the package, the call centre normally record all sales calls, so what was said can be verified.

Thanks for the suggestion, the next step was to call Apple, who gave me a claim number, which I discovered you must have to get anything done with them. They refered me to a Apple store or repair center, after some reseach took it to the Computer Store in Mobile, Alabama and they were excellent. They took pictures of the screen with bug submitted it to Apple who denied the claim but they kept kicking it up to the next level and finally Apple agreed to sent new cover. The Computer Store had the cover the next day, they changed it out and now I am bug free. If your in the area of Mobile Alabama you can feel good about getting help from the Computer Store. For the two folks that responded to my note, Thank You, good comments and good advice.

Hi wondering if anyone can help me, i have an itouch 4 gen and the front cover has started to come away, it hasn't been dropped or anything just started to come away ( although i did notice that it was heating up drastically ) looks to me like the glue has dyed up and as usual the guarantee had not long ran out. Ok, here's some back story; My girlfriend and I were on the same plan for about a year or so. Here recently we broke up and she continued on the plan for about another month while we were working out some money issues. During that time (not having any Wifi at her house) she constantly watched shows and such on her phone, which sky rocketed the phone bill into it's 70th overage allowance!!! Her line ended up using a total of 80 gigs while mine only used about 5, which is normal. I kicked her off immediately and had her accept responsibility for her own line. I know, I should of done it earlier, but it was a different situation then. Lesson learned I guess.
When that happened, it obviously started a fresh new plan for her and I was stuck with a $1,400 bill! I asked Verizon (customer reps, hadn't spoken to any "supervisors" yet) if there was anything that could be done as far as her taking responsibility for her part of the bill. The obvious answer was no, simply because I'm the account owner and it's my responsibility, which I think is absolutely ridiculous! I'm not the one sitting her ringing up a bill that high. She did it on her line, it's her responsibility! That should follow her over to her account, and she should be liable for paying for the charges she rung up! That would be fair, right?? The way they have it set up now isn't in any way, shape or form fair. When asking about how much time I'd have to pay it, I was told they could only push it out a couple of days. I don't make anywhere near that much in such a short time, let alone with having other bills to pay and everything, and they expect you to just cough it over that quick!
I'm on here to see if there's anything at all that can be done about this stupidly high bill, or if any Verizon associates here might be able to help. If not, I'll take my number and go to another carrier. This is ridiculous and I'm not at all happy!As the account owner, you are personally responsible for all charges on your account. Period.
If you feel that another person is responsible for the charges, then Small Claims Court would be the avenue for you to explore.

Why is my jetpack recording an incredible amount of data usage? I'm getting alerts on a daily basis. All I do is read email and shop online. What is Verizon doing about this? I've used a data calculator and I shouldn't be using a third of what is being billed. A lot of nasty stuff on these posts.

There is a common concern that many wireless users share on this subject. Unfortunately VZW holds all the cards when it comes to the actual details on what happened resulting with your final billing statement.
The only thing we as consumers can do is try to setup monitors on our own and funnel our internet traffic through those devices/applications. With a monitor in place there is a better chance that you can identify leaks and stop them before it makes it to your bill.
Keep in mind that data usage has nothing to do with what you are intentionally doing on the internet. Data usage relates to what is actually happening behind the scenes. If you, your neighbor, your dog or your toaster is online and consuming internet through your VZW device then VZW will hold you accountable for it. Its similar to a hose that you turn on in your yard, a utility company doesn't care who did it, they only care that they sent XYZ gallons of water to your residence. What worked well on your previous provider may not work well on VZW resulting in retries and increased usage for the same actions.
Don't get too hung up on the timestamps that VZW offers you in their alerts or reports. There are all sorts of examples where billing is delayed for various reasons. Use the timestamps as a clue, not as actual evidence that can be relied on during your investigation. -

What can be done about my lack of coverage and service?
I am well inside 4g coverage area and have been in the same house for over 5 years now. In that time our coverage has gone from 3 bars down to 1 bar within the last year and a half or so, and starting a couple days ago our phones think we are in roaming??
Minorly off topic is we have been lied to repeatedly at the local sales store and or corporate more than once, the largest pain being the fiasco in "renewing" my military discount I am eligible for by being a disabled vet. had it for years then we get a mail saying it needs to be renewed, go in to local store and they do the paper work, corp says they didnt get it we have to jump through a bunch more hoops its finally reinstated.
So is this crappy service and lack of coverage tho map shows us more than covered just part of what we pay over a hundred bucks a month for? No way to complain to anyone but to other people with problems? Canceling our account will be a big hurt financially up front but be a little easier on our pocketbook in the long run. (we would have to do local land line phone service which is almost as much and with no features at that, so not much easier)
Is there some way out of this as they are no longer providing the service they did when we signed up? thi site is a mess and impossible to find actual help for anything, they will sell me more stuff and give me a person even if i want to buy something. an issue tho? fergetaboutit, go cry on a forum.

I basically came here assuming I was going to just have to cancel our account as the early cancel fees would be cheaper than continuing to pay for nothing till contracts up. buying their booster the store tried to sell us would probably solve the problem and may be cheaper in the long run but I am also tired of the "give us money while we do less" crap going on with this company. 5 years ago we had fine enough service in my house, we have watched it fade over the years (even tho they say they are putting up better faster service in the area) until we had to go outside to keep our calls connected to now, we are put in roaming while at home. I shouldnt have to keep paying more to keep my service I originaly paid for in my opinion.

What can be done about slowness?
There have been numerous posts about the overall slowness and bugginess of iPhoto 5. I'm looking for answers.
On my 1 ghz 512 ram 60 gb hd 12' iBook, I almost constantly have a beach ball in iPhoto. The library takes FOREVER to load and I only have around 2,000 photos. I can't imagine how absolutely tortrous this program would be with 10,000 photos. Sure Steve Jobs can have 25,000 running on his souped up G5, but what about the common citizen? (And I've heard G5 owners complain about iPhoto anyway).
To me, it is the most ineffective portion of iLife. It would be so cool if it could simply and efficiently carry out its many uses. Is there anything I can do to speed this application up?Wow! That is big. I shouldn't think it was the Windows jpgs. All that's in that library.iphoto file are the file names, album names, roll names, keywords, etc. Give a look at yours with a text editor
Thanks Old Toad. I can't really see how it can be the dates on the Windows jpg either, but I'm really getting desperate for a solution to iPhoto 5. I've looked at the (many) Library.iPhoto files I've generated. The structure seems soemwhat different between different ones, but since they contain more than just readable text, I haven't spotted any critical differences between them.
Have you tried rebuilding the library?
I've rebuilt the library numerous times. Likewise I've rebuilt the Thumbnails.
If all else fails try creating a new library and import the photos from the old one.
I've converted the photos from working iPhoto 4 Libraries, several times. I've made brand new iPhoto 5 Libraries, and imported the photos from my separate backup of the original photos. Regardless of how I do it, my Library.iPhoto size rapidly goes to several hundred megabytes, despite the import photo method not having any roll, album, keywords or comments at all. The difference is only a few percent at most. That is why I am wondering about the nature of the photos themselves.
It is particularly annoying that Cartoon Life can grab the same thumbnails from the same iPhoto Library and open them pretty much instantly (does it as it loads, and uses whatever your most recently used library is).
I'm now trying to close the latest iteration of the Library. It took 7 minutes to close. Usual 95% of CPU mostly system, plus heavy disk action and large VM, and grabbing all physical memory.
I'm still trying to find another collection of photos from different cameras to use for a test library. Only have another gigabyte of photos on hand so far. Hmm, maybe I can find a DVD full of photos online somewhere.
One interesting result. I mentioned I was using a different test library of 1700 photos, and the 500MB of photos gave me a 5.2MB Library.iPhoto file. It turned out that when I opened Comic Life after using that, none of the thumbnails showed (although iPhoto was fine on all sizes). I rebuilt the Thumbnails, so Comic Life could see the thumbnails. However Library.iPhoto aactually fell in size to 3.2MB. I'm not sure what to make of that. I suspect iPhoto 5 is making some files for compatibility reasons with third party programs. Otherwise how could iPhoto show thumbnails that Cartoon Life couldn't find? Cartoon Life found the Titles of the photos. -

Authentication Request flood, what can be done about it.
Situation : the IDS in the wlc is reporting Authentication Request flood, attachs around 250 times in 1 hour.
Clearly something is wrong. However, what is the best way to fix the problem ?
- change the rf sensitivty on the controller ?
- change the aggresiveness of the client (barcodescanner)
Additionally, whats the reason of this attack ? bad rf design ?Forget about the reporting for now.... do you have any issues with your wireless? If not then it can be due to the scanners and how they operate causing the IDS trap. You can download the signature file from the wlc to your tftp server and edit the signature file and them upload it back to the wlc.
You can always try to change the aggressiveness of the clients, but again.. if it is working why take a chance and break it. Check for yourself how the scanners are performing... if you see nothing wrong, then change the signature file. -
After freezing up today(which it has done from time to time before), Firefox has now become completely unresponsive. I have repeatedly attempted to restart it but the program will freeze up almost immeadiately every time, each time requiring a close via the task manager.
Nothing has changed since last night except for this unresponsivness. I just tried uninstalling my older version and downloading the current version but the problem has persisted. What else can I try?I have the same problem on two Windows 7 x64 installations.

Firefox does not crash, it just becomes unresponsive, but the moment it becomes responsive again (couple seconds to 15 seconds or more,) it will just become unresponsive again. There is next to no CPU usage and there is nothing running in the background that could possible slow it down. I also notice that FF momentarily will stop responding for around 1/2 to 1 second. Then continue to be fine. I'm finding that Chrome is acting up as well but IE is working fine. I also found that Google.com seems to exacerbate the problem. -
I have a 5S and I've had it since december. ever since i got it I've had trouble whit it. It spaces out at random times, types stuff on its own, goes out of applications, scrolls up/down a page etc. This happens almost daily and the only thing I can do about it is lock my phone, go back in, quit all my apps... Along with that now my touch ID has not been working. Although it has started today, I am worried.
I have an iPhone 6 and have been having this issue since I got it in December 2014. Apps open on their own, scrolling up and down, etc. It's like a ghost is touching the screen. It seems to be the worst when my Verizon connection is only at 3G or my wifi strength is low. I'm not sure if it's an iPhone thing or a carrier issue?? Any ideas?

What Can Be Done About Internet Explorer and iWeb '08?
I just finished building a website for a small business - my father's vet clinic - in iWeb. He wanted to use a program that would allow him to update the website himself. Everything looks fine on the Mac side of things, of course, and even on the Firefox Windows browser, though the picture galleries don't seem to load on some machines. In IE, however, links don't work, they go to the wrong pages, graphics don't display correctly, and the functionality of certain pages in compromised. I've been browsing on the boards and I am aware of the endless complaints of iWeb and IE compatibility, but I didn't know if someone could suggest some workarounds for me.

I am in the process of learning CSS site design, and I can lay out a fairly simple page manually, but there is a learning curve for it and my father won't be able to do his own updates. I suppose that he could learn the basics of Dreamweaver or something. At least Dreamweaver is more consistent. I made this site using the white template and just customized it. Don't use the standard iWeb navigation.

What can be done about the terrible font rendering in Adobe Flash 11.6?
Some fonts in the latest version of Adobe Flash are terrible. They are almost unreadable!
Take a look at the fonts rendered from Adobe's own site: (Can you read what version or OS or Browser?)
I have other sites where the fonts are readable but they are still very bad.

MikeI have found a solution. The problem is really with Google Chrome v 25.??? To get it to work properly you will need to go to chrome://plugins/ and "enable" the pepflashplayer.dll.
I had to click on the "+ Details" link on the far right, in the plugins header bar. This will open a hidden portion to the Flash player and you can then enable that .dll. It looks a bit like this:
